Run through me
Title inspired by this song, which also inspired the ficlet entirely. Here's the winning option on this poll, but I'll probably be writing all of these in time anyway.
Also, today is my 3 year MDZS anniversary, so this doubles as a little celebration ficlet for that!
Warnings: canon typical violence and a bit of gore
Enjoy! <3
"You lot aren't the brightest, are you?" Wei Wuxian's voice echoes through the cave, the two tall candles that have been lit in the back casting ominous shadows over the stone walls. His tone is neutral, bordering on amused, though it carries an edge of something that could only be described as hair-raising danger.
The sharp sound of two swords being drawn pierces the silence of the cave, and the shadows on the wall writhe in response, giving away that they are not mere plays of the light.
"You cannot possibly think your swords could do anything here." Wei Wuxian laughs, finally revealing himself from amongst the shadows of the night and the resentful energy guarding the entrance to the Demon Slaughtering Cave.
"You would think for two impossibly audacious, suicidal bastards, you'd think of a place other than the Burial Mounds to take the Yiling Patriarch's husband and son to."
"You aren't the only demonic cultivator that's thriving here." A man says, and his eyes glint red as if for emphasis.
"True." Wei Wuxian replies, smiles in a way that would have been friendly had his eyes not carried such clear dark intent behind them. "However, I am the one that invented it. The only one."
He waves a hand and the shadows on the walls disperse around the cave, a dark fog that renders candlelight useless. Wei Wuxian glares, red, bloodthirsty, his pupils both bright and dark, hellfire piercing through the darkness of the cave.
"If you want to hurt the ones I love..." and he lifts Chenqing to his lips, wisps of resentful energy dancing around him like untamed children, "...you're going to have to go through me." A smile. "And I guarantee you won't."
Chenqing's shrill notes bounce off the stone walls of the cave, almost as loud as the screams that follow.
The candles writhe before the fire dies out, and all that is left is sound.
Mindless slashes of swords against incorporeal targets, talismans failing to burn, spells that cut off into shouts for help. The sound of ripping flesh and cracking bones, the unmistakable smell of blood and the rot that fills the place whenever the Burial Mounds feed on something living.
There are gargles, words of apology, curses, pleas - but they drown into the wailing nothingness of resentment, replaced with the excited screams of the spirits that have received another in their ranks.
Wei Wuxian waves a hand, and it all stops. Candles light up again, and the shadows have returned into the crevices of the walls, quietly murmuring as if to entice Wei Wuxian to call onto them again.
The two men - or rather, whatever's left of them - lay haphazardly across the cave's floor, drying blood stains the only evidence of what had transpired in the dark. Wei Wuxian lets the red in his eyes slowly extinguish, the intensity of it stinging his pupils.
He feels the resentment slowly slide off him, like armor plates falling off his shoulders. Though his cultivation never actually hurts him, he can admit he has overdone it a little bit this time - but his emotions ran too high for him to bother to keep himself in check. The moment he was told something had happened to Lan Wangji and Lan Sizhui, he felt like he lost some of his mind and much of his self control, desperately trying to trace back the last place his loved ones had been seen.
When he was told it had been the boundary of the Burial Mounds, he nearly leaped with joy - there was no other place better than that for him to be able to quickly find his family and dispose of whoever dared hurt them in the most effective and definitive way.
He didn't even care to find their motives, or even their names. All he wanted was them dead. Perhaps some of those rumors about the cruel Yiling Patriarch had been true. And, not that he ever minded them, but he'd have no problem proving them true if anyone ever dared hurt his family again.
Lan Wangji and Lan Sizhui lay asleep in the most distant corner of the cave, leaning against one another. There are no major injuries on their bodies - of course not, Wei Wuxian chides himself, they're powerful cultivators with strong golden cores - and they seem to be peaceful, chests rising and falling rhythmically.
It feels... Wei Wuxian doesn't know how it feels. These two don't belong in this wretched place, yet Wei Wuxian feels like they're safest here. Like nothing could ever hurt them, any of them, if they just stayed here, where he could protect them, where nobody would dare...
Wei Wuxian shakes his head as if to rid of those thoughts. He knows they're not his own.
However, trying to leave the Burial Mounds at night is next to impossible - he would know better than anyone. And if Lan Zhan and Sizhui are already sleeping, there is no reason disturbing them. They'd have nothing to do out here anyway.
Wei Wuxian knows he won't be able to sleep, high on adrenaline and knowing he'd stirred the Burial Mounds' hunger too much to be safe for him not to stand guard.
So, he takes his old seat at his makeshift invention table, and finds himself scribbling talismans.
He tries not to let his eyes mist over at the thought that he used to dream of this a lifetime ago.

Hey dude, so everything is good with my family member, and I was wondering if we (as in me) could get some omegaverse munver w pregnant Jason cause I need that fluffy pregnancy shit.
I'm so glad! I've actually been playing them in the sims and Jason is on baby number FIVE so I think I have an idea for this. It may be edging into hurt/comfort, but it's just a little domestic moment from these cute boys and we get very fluffy at the end don't worry.
All Jason' wanted was to be able to flop down, face first into the pillow and scream until his lungs gave out.
Celia had needed help getting ready, and then the twins went back and forth, fussing when he tried to breastfeed them together. So he had to do it one at a time. Somewhere in the haze there has also been a diaper blowout, and Celia had of course spilled chocolate milk which meant Jason had to stop everything to clean before it got into the tv.
He'd let Celia watch way too much tv because the twins were running him ragged, and he felt like the worst Omega in the whole wide world.
But he couldn't lie down and scream. Because he couldn't lie on his stomach at all. Because he was a few weeks from popping out another one. Another baby to scream at him and pull his hair and...
Calloused hands brushed Jason's upper arm.
"Hey there, hot stuff," Eddie whispered, "Sorry I'm past bed time, they made a change to the stems-."
Jason swore he didn't normally cry this fast. Okay, he did, but he was supposed to be a dad now, and dads didn't cry.
"Oh," Eddie gathered him close, "What's wrong?"
"It was just... I just..." Jason shuddered, "I don't think I can do this."
"The album will be done soon, babe, I'll be home more," Eddie wiped Jason's tears away, "I know it's been a hard one. I know I haven't been-"
Jason shook his head, "That's not it. I almost lost it in front of them today."
"Lost it?" Eddie stroked his cheek, "Your temper? Babe-"
"No, I almost cried," Jason sniffed heavily, rubbing it on the arm of his pajama top. He hadn't even had the energy to get dressed today.
"What? Babe, who cares?" Eddie frowns, "I cry all the time."
Jason swallowed hard, "W-what?"
"This parenting stuff is hard and I won't lie to you, we may have gone a little overboard with pups right away," Eddie smiled, "Not that I regret a single fucking second. But sometimes... shit, I was this close to falling asleep with Jamie in my arms last night, and when Luce started crying I was right there with her. I would literally kill for a little extra sleep."
Jason wiped his nose miserably, "I'm their dad. I can't just go bursting into tears over spilled chocolate milk."
"Why not? You don't have to act like everything's okay all the time. Actually, please don't act like everything's okay. Come to me," Eddie kissed his cheek, "We'll cry together over the chocolate milk, right?"
Jason's heart swelled, and his eyes overflowed all over again.
And then, of course, Luce started to cry, wails echoing across the walls of their tiny fixer upper.
"I got that," Eddie nudged Jason to the bed, "You have a good cry, okay?"
Jason swallowed, trying for a moment to keep the feelings in. But by the time Eddie came back to bed and wrapped his arms around Jason, smelling like reheated breastmilk and baby wipes, Jason was fully weeping.
"I love you," Eddie whispered, "And I love our life. Tears and all."
Jason trembled a little, smiling despite himself, "I love our life too. I'm sorry. I just got so overwhelmed. And I don't even know how we're going to handle it with the new baby too."
"I don't know. I think we have a leg up, because it's gonna have the best Omega dad in the world," Eddie kissed Jason's cheek. "Who cries over spilled chocolate milk and kisses all their boo-boos and tries so very hard, all the time."
Jason smiled, "Baby-"
"Are you craving chocolate milk too?"
"Yes, we can't talk about it this much," Jason laughed.
Eddie hopped up onto his knees, "I'll make you one. No, we'll do one big one with two straws."
Jason made the bed before Eddie got back, spreading the quilt out and kneeling on it.
"You remember when we had no money, and you used to take me on picnic dates?" Jason smiled when Eddie sat on the bed and offered Jason one of Celia's favorite crazy straws.
"I remember how beautiful you look spread out on a picnic blanket, yes," Eddie smirked, sipping from his own crazy straw.
Jason rolled his eyes, "I'm trying to be romantic."
"What's not romantic about what I used to do to you on the picnic blanket?" Eddie smirked, "The poets would write epic poems as odes to your beauty, omega."
Jason huffed a little, blushing and taking a sip.
Eddie sipped from his straw, "I remember how we used to lie there afterwards in the grass, and you'd pull me close and tell me all your plans for us. The kids. The house. That I would get to play music every day... pretty romantic to me."
Jason's eyes felt a little hot, like he was going to cry again, and he looked up at the ceiling to try to calm it.
"How'd you do that, babe? Or did you just want it so bad you made it real?" Eddie asked softly, taking Jason's hand.
Jason swiped at his eyes, and Eddie set their chocolate milk on the side table.
"Don't cry, babe," Eddie crooned, pulling Jason closer, "I haven't even spilled it yet."
"I love you."
"I love you, Jason Munson," Eddie rubbed a hand gently over Jason's belly before sliding around to rub the small of his back, and his eyes looked suspiciously wet too, "I love you so much."

Hey, Brother do you still believe in one another?

It's so fly-day, fly-day Chinatown
even if I'm tired of dancing, I'll play along until morning
I want to drink something where I can see the harbor
Sachiko had a mission, she wanted to dance all night long with you, partying through the streets of Tokyo and just having fun. After all thats what Saturday nights are for.
Now she had to convince you in someway to tag along. Wouldn't be easy to get you out of the house, withering away is what you were during with yourself. Your energy was dwindled, too many days of school you had missed because you couldn't bring yourself to get out of bed. It was starting to get bad again.
So Sachiko hoped with the nightly adventure, she had in mind, she could bring some spark of joyfulness back into you. To show you that life was still worth it to live, even when a part of your heart was missing now.
Here was Sachiko, in your room, getting herself ready while you were still laying on the bed and staring at the glow-stars covered ceiling. The low volume of the radio, playing whatever song was just adding to the mood you were feeling. Oh boy.
«C'mon grumpy boy, let us roam through the streets and make them unsafe. We're gonna dance till sunrise and have fun! So c'mon c'mon,» Sachiko said, smacking her lips together, creating a popping sound, testing out another Lipstick. Finding the right colour wasn't a easy task sometimes.
«Don't wanna, that sounds already exhausting and besides I don't wanna miss todays episode of Cowboy Bepo.» you sighed out. Weren't in the mood for Sachikos scheming ideas.
Sachiko rolled her eyes, giving a mocking sigh in return. Boy, were you about to get on her nerves now with that brooding gloomy mood of yours—testing her patience. Fine. Be that way, but she will drag you out either way.
«When was the last time we went dancing? Months ago! And I really really wanna go with you, because more fun. So pretty please? For me?» Sachiko give you a pleading look, her personal puppy eyes.
«Argh, fine. You won. Just give me some minutes or so to get ready.»
~~~~~~
Dim lighting, colourful and moving. Tonights playlist was a mix between national and international songs, blasting through the room and echoing in minds. The Disco was filled with people, crowded that sometimes you had to be careful not to get pushed around or accidentally being hit. They all were dancing and drinking to their heart's content, enjoying the young night. Had their fun.
Sachiko was twirling you around every so often, moving her body to the beat of music. Not caring in the slightest how revealing and skin exposing—it was November and the temperature are dropping, bringing goosebumps, and colourful her outfits might be for others. Sachiko simply didn't care, after all it wasn't her job to model her life after the opinion of others.
Seeing you, only if it were just going be for this night, for those few hours—where the moon and sky above would be the only witness to anything and everything, finally so carefree and relaxed again, was making her happy. Selfish proud even.
As the next song was starting, you beamed from ear to ear. One of your favourite songs and now it was your turn to twirl and swirl Sachiko.
You had forgotten how it was to feel such ecstasy, the rush of living in the current—the here and now. Brought back a once extinguished spark in you.
You make a hand gesture to Sachiko, signalling her that you wanted to take short break and drink something. She nodded, going with you. First rule unofficial, never let you partner walk alone through the Club.
Taking a seat at the bar, thankfully not all that crowded, ordering Cola for the both of you. Sachiko adding four Vodka shots to it. Soft drink, for a night like these? She found that a tad too goodie shoes. Prepping it with a few shots was the only truthfully classic way, to celebrate.
Eating the salted crackers and sipping on your drinks, you both talk about the newest school gossip.
«Heh, I knew you would like it, grumpy hun~ Aren't I the best?»
«Sure are you the best, oh great princess Sachi,» you told her, laughing at the funny grimace she was doing in return. Time to order 2 more shots.
From the corner of your eyes you saw a silhouette of a men approaching you, stopping just a few meters in front of you.
«Hey there stranger,  I'm Daiki and I wanted to ask if you wanted to dance with me?» introduce Daiki himself, giving you a boyish smile and raking his hand through his short black hair.
Daiki was handsome, no lying to it, though Heiji was far more handsomely—but he does have a attractiveness, which could bring your cheeks into a flush. Or perhaps the shots are getting to you.
Skimming over his body; plain shirt, jeans and sneakers. The outfit wasn't too fancy or too plain, but right in the middle.
You pursed your lips, glancing at Sachiko—who was having the fun out of it, and pondering about his offer. In all honesty you weren't so keen on to dance with strange, where you only here because of Sachi and only for her.
Though, this is the Disco, it's the nightlife—prone to mingle with strangers and their business, bodies close to one another, sharing heat and living their life in a rush of momentarily high. A sort of one night in Bangkok feeling.
«[Name] and sure why not,» you agreed, drinking the rest of your Cola out and getting up from the stool. Sachiko following after you two.
Boy were boys after all and Sachiko wasn't risking it of you getting abducted or the sorts of. Discos might be fun, but was also a place where things, bad things, could happen. Yeah no, Sachiko wouldn't allow that.
Oh, I wanna dance with somebody!
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody!
Dance with somebody
