Tobey's Clothes
Tobey McCallister had a signature look at this point in his life and villainy career. Red bow tie, blue long shirt, khaki shorts, orange waistcoat. He had multiple identical outfits just like that in his wardrobe so he would always look the same. Not everyone was very nice about it.
"Dude, why do you wear the same clothes every day? Don't you have anything else?" someone asked.
"I have plenty of other clothes. This just happens to be my favourite," Tobey said.
The first insult about his clothes that really hurt Tobey was when WordGirl teamed up with Miss Power. Everyone knew about him and his mother, and he'd never really been able to tame his hair, but he genuinely thought that his clothes were good clothes.
"You have a goofy haircut! And bad clothes! And you're afraid of your mommy! You're a ridiculous villain, Tobey! You always have been!"
Tobey sighed as her cruel words rattled around his head. Even now, her words had an effect on him. They shouldn't, but they did.
They always did.
A knock rattled the doorframe. Tobey got it.
It was WordGirl. And she was holding a bag.
"WordGirl? What are you . . . doing here, exactly?" he asked, shying away from her.
"Oh. Hi, Tobey." She looked nervous. Or apprehensive. It probably had something to do with what was in the bag. "I have something to say to you about the . . . Miss Power . . . situation."
"Oh." Tobey's stomach turned thinking about the blonde alien woman that had crushed his confidence.
"I am sorry. Really sorry. I should have known that Miss Power was a bad influence on me and everyone else that heard her speak. I brought you something as an apology." She thrust out the bag. "Here."
"Hmm. OK." Tobey tentatively looked through the bag, seeing an orange waistcoat, khaki shorts, a blue shirt and a red bow tie, a replica of the outfit he was wearing right now. "This is exactly the same as what I'm wearing now!"
"I know." WordGirl smiled a shy smile. "You have multiple of the same outfit. It looks good on you and is very distinctive. You don't need to change a thing about you or the way you dress."
"Thank you." Tobey looked down at the clothes in the bag with a smile.
When he looked back up again, WordGirl was gone.

I won't be giving this an official caption/title because I literally don't know what to call it, but uh- I'm a participant for Whumptober this year! For anyone who doesn't have the slightest clue what I'm talking about, whump is defined as a genre within fandoms involved in physically and mentally "whumping" (or rather angst'ing) a character. Whumptober's meant to be this October event where creators (artists, writers, etc) create whump for characters - both fandom and original.
I'm really wanting to be a completionist this year, meaning I'll be able to finish and post all 31 prompts but here's the thing: I have finally come up with an idea for what I'm doing in regard to the second prompt. I'm writing here since I decided it would be for Wordgirl; I was originally going to seek help on how to make it whumpy before I remembered I'm allowed to combine themes and prompts however I like. After giving it another glance-around, I came up with a neat little trick on how to make it work!
I'll cover the main idea I had for the incoming whump prompt, but I will not be talking about the full scope of the plot - just to make things a little more interesting! Essentially, it's a role reversal ft. ToBecky which is quite self explanatory; years have passed since Tobey's debut as Fair City's hero and has been at odd ends with Becky's villainous persona but following one of their latest encounters - something brings them closer than ever before... and it's about to get dangerous.
Read below the cut for general information about the role reversal au!
The role reversal originally began as a joke between one of my mutuals; after having seen fanart - I decided why not make my own and thus began this silly project of hero Tobey and villain Becky. Wordgirl obviously doesn't exist in the context of this universe as I wanted her villain name to be different.
How I envisioned it working out;
Instead of Becky being taken in by the Botsford's, she's found by Steven Boxleitner, before he was ever fused with Squeaky, and he decides to adopt her - not wanting to leave Becky and her 'pet' monkey alone in the forest. Things are fine for a while, but she doesn't become Wordgirl; wanting to follow in her adoptive parent's footsteps, she spends a lot of time in his lab and helps with his projects where need be among other small things. Unfortunately, at some point - Steven has his accident and he becomes Dr. Two Brains, beginning his spiraling descend into villainy.
As for Becky, she originally starts as being this sort of not-quite henchmen to Dr. Two Brains; assisting in some of the heists, as well as helping with plans and such. All things normal, but what's a bored alien to do? Well, she decides to create her own villainous persona (only something goes wrong, but we'll get to that later-). Sometimes she'll work alongside Dr. Two Brains, and other times she focuses on her own mischief. Becky has never once harmed a civilian but she's kind of a menace and at one point meets Tobey. (Granted, they also go to the same schools, but still-)
I also feel like Tobey's still the one crushing on Becky/[REDACTED] but Becky is currently treating it all as if it's all a fun, little game of cat and mouse. Tobey also does not have powers per se and is more like a mini Tony Stark, is currently my vision. I thought it would be fitting that way.
If anyone's curious, I'll be covering more later while avoiding spoilers! I need to turn on asks, I think but grrr - for now, I'll leave at this!

Whump Day #2
Sooo, last night I managed to finish the first prompt and now I’ve already hopped to the next one! I’ve decided to focus it on Wordgirl and specifically an au I somehow fell in love with. I can’t fully share my plans for it yet, but if anyone’s curious - I’ll be on later today if someone has to hear me infodump!
I’m hoping to get through as many prompts as I can before October hits and if there’s anything left over, well, I’ll figure it out when I get there because depending on how far along I get - I could just continue without worrying about being late. I really want to be a completionist this year hahahah

tfw you never watched Wordgirl as a child but stumbled across the fandom recently and now you have, *checks notes* nearly 15 thousand words planning for a slow burn Tobecky fic written in the last week. jesus christ
most of -if not all- the conflict is internal stuff exploring how they feel about things plus fun headcanons on the gaps in the shows lore and I intend for it to sort of show how they're dynamic changes as they grow up and all that. Basically, to avoid spoilers, the plot is self discovery as they grow up and their relationship to each other and the rest of the cast
I still haven't watched the show. I'm busy ok, I'll get on that-
I've gone a little bit rabid over this, icl, I've never had a fic plan come together this quickly

Favorite Tobecky head canon?
I got so many tobecky hcs in my brain sjjajssjs but if I had to choose my favorite, uh....
Maybe, where after they become frenemies, they become their own study buddies for each other on subjects they lack. Maybe Tobey can't understand a writing assignment, and Becky helps him, or Becky is stumped by a complicated math problem. I say this because, other than Victoria and Rex, they would definitely be the two of the friend group that would take all the advanced classes and bite more than they can chew, so being each their own study partners helps since they would be aligned with the same subjects.
And of course, at this point, there's nothing romantic between them (this can be considered a platonic tobecky headcanon). But I can imagine Tobey getting "jealous" if Becky has to study with someone else for something (big brain idea if it's with Hunter since I can see Becky still trying theater). And the reverse of Becky getting jealous that Tobey is studying with someone else. Because my ideal tobecky is when there's something wrong with the both of them LMAO (two nerds with attention/attachment issues oh no).
They admire each other's intelligence, and I mean--just having them cooperate with schoolwork and be total in sync when it comes to how they understood each other in that level. HMWMEMSM

I decided to do this shipping meme. I'm sorry for the quality but i couldn't find a better picture😔
Some notes about this diagram:
● i headcanon kid math to be aroace because his vibe to me is just OOZING of aromaticism. Like i feel like he would rather befriend people than have a serious relationship with 'em. This could be because i'm also aromantic and i relate to his personality a little to see myself in him but i really dunno how this projection thing works-
● i'm a tobecky main, obviously
● the ones in pink are the ones i like the dynamic of but i don't obsess over as much as i do with tobecky. (I mean c'mon... bectoria is literally just tobecky but yuri. Only reason i like tobecky more is cuz i saw them interact, with chemistry, more than bectoria)
● the ones in orange are the ones i personally don't find interesting or have no opinion for, BUT i do respect them as ships, and i do see the potential in them.
● i put maria in a black circle cause she looks WAY older than the others, i only connected her with eileen as a friend.
● EILEEN, TOBEY AND VICTORIA FRIEND GROUP SUPREMACY!!! Like they would be so iconic, they're the reason i made the heathers au. They would banter and fight alot but they stay together because they can help each other against wg.
● out of all the wg ships i've seen (that aren't proships) the one i dislike the most is tobey x scoops. I don't hate anyone who likes it, yall do you. But i personally don't see the chemistry between them, like their personalities don't clash very well to me. They don't have much in common. And even if they did get along, they'd probably be friends, or homies if you really write them well, not lovers.
Again, these are my opinions and it's okay if you don't agree!
Original pic if you quys wanna try it

tobecky fic | something's the matter
Tumblr media
Something was wrong with Becky Botsford, Tobey could feel it with every fiber of his being.
It didn’t matter if she didn’t speak to him in the halls between classes, purposefully going in the opposite direction of their usual meetup spot after their respective AP classes.
Just one look at his beloved Becky and the way she wasn’t glowing when someone asked what a word meant in front of her and he knew.
Violet had asked what ‘impeccable’ had meant after Tobey used it in their lunch conversation, the trio had expected the brown-haired girl to eagerly explain the definition to her.
Instead, they were met with silence, looking over in her direction to find Becky lost in thought while fiddling with the charm bracelet Violet had made her way back in middle school.
She only did it when something was bothering her.
Tobey cleared his throat to grab her attention, her dark hazel orbs looking up in a slight daze as she noticed Scoops, Violet, and Tobey staring at her.
“H-Huh? Sorry Vi, what did you say?” The superheroine’s face flushed in embarrassment.
“I was just asking what impeccable meant is all. Are you alright Becky?” Her best friend asked her, putting her hand up to Becky’s forehead. “I hope you’re not sick, that would be awful.”
“I’m not sick Violet, impeccable means to have no faults: or flawless. Like how everyone thinks I-Wordgirl is… Impeccable.”
She went right back to looking down at her bracelet, letting the small pieces of metal rub between her fingers.
Tobey frowned at this, from her interruption in her own words to her tone in the last impeccable sounded too somber for his liking.
Now, changing the subject from herself to her persona Wordgirl could be mistaken as changing her words so no one would overhear but he highly doubted it. They were in a high school cafeteria after all, surrounded by boisterous teens and this wasn't near the first time they had mentioned Becky’s feats as Wordgirl at their lunch table.
Of course, Tobey McCallister the Third was no fool. He had a hunch what the issue was, and it was her own alter ego she hid from him for so long.
Here he was, the reformed blonde villain using one of his robits (without destroying property of course) to quickly make it over to the Botsford residence to see his partner.
His wonderful, gorgeous partner, might he add.
From the warm glow of her desk lamp coming through her bedroom window, Tobey could tell she was at least awake.
Using one of his robits hands, he lifted himself to Becky’s window, knocking gently on the thick glass to get her attention.
Sure enough, he was correct. She was awake, sitting on her bed while her back was against the bedroom wall, her knees to her chest as she buried her face into them.
She slowly lifted her head to see her boyfriend waiting patiently as he slightly smiled and waved to her from the other side of the glass.
Even in her dejected state, she couldn’t help but smile ever so slightly back at him as she slowly got up and opened her window for him.
“Is Bob here?” He asked softly.
“N-No, I asked him to give me some time to myself so we should be in the clear as of right now.”
Tobey let out a sigh of relief as he clasped her hands in his, “Good. Good. I really need to talk to you alone.”
Becky winced slightly at his words from the guilt of ignoring him as she helped him inside her room, she really hadn’t changed throughout the years besides gaining new interests. She still had small pony figurines around her room as well as a whole bookshelf filled with dictionaries and romance novels she couldn’t help but collect every single one that piqued her attentiveness.
Tobey really admired that about her, even in high school she paid no attention to societal norms when it came down to what she enjoyed.
Becky slowly closed the window behind him, noticing him sitting on the edge of her bed as he gestured for her to do the same with a small but sincere smile.
She returned the expression as she sat down beside him, sighing as she rested her head on his shoulder.
Before he could even open his mouth, Becky spoke, “I’m sorry I’ve been avoiding you at school, I just… Have a lot on my mind right now.” She took his hand in his, something that would have made his heart race and face turn scarlet a long time ago.
However, he was much used to it by now.
“I can only imagine, I mean, you ARE Wordgirl after all. Being a high school student is already stressful enough.” His fingers roamed to her brunette locks as her hair now reached to her elbows.
Becky grimaced at the mention of her superhero persona, “Can we NOT talk about Wordgirl right now…?”
Her words spilled off her tongue like venom, the disdain in her voice was impossible to not recognize as far as Tobey was concerned.
“...Is there a problem with mentioning it, darling?” He took a moment before he spoke to properly ask her, making sure he didn’t say the wrong words to make her upset even further.
“It’s just…” Becky let out a sigh as she interrupted herself, playing with the gold heart locket around her neck as she looked down at the piece of jewelry in her fingers.
“It’s just what?” Her boyfriend gently asked, holding out his hand to her for a small moment of comfort.
Becky stopped her fingers, looking up at him slightly as she smiled, accepting the gesture.
Their hands intertwined as his thumb rubbed circles on the back of her hand, her hand was warm and soft in contrast to his cold touch which made his stomach fill up with nonexistent butterflies.
Tobey gave her hand a gentle squeeze as he kept his hand connected to hers, “I’m here to listen, Becky. McCallister's honor.”
He raised his other hand as he told his pretend oath, making her laugh softly as she squeezed his hand in return.
“Well, I guess I’m just sick of people preferring Wordgirl over Becky Botsford. I know I should be used to it by now, with all the Wordgirl merchandise and publicity but… It still hurts, a lot.”
Tobey cringed slightly at her confession, he knew it was coming of course. Becky wasn’t exactly very good at being a secretive person. She was lucky enough that half the city hadn’t figured out her secret identity yet.
But that didn’t mean he was exactly thrilled at being correct in his assumption, he couldn’t help but feel like some of that was his fault.
After all, his younger self WAS infatuated with her superheroine persona and treated the real her… Well, not as nicely as he did now.
One could be heavily mistaken (as blasphemous as the thought would be to Tobey) that he was only dating Becky because she was Wordgirl.
That wasn’t the case at all.
She took another deep breath before she spoke, “You… Aren’t just dating me because I’m Wordgirl… Right?”
Ah, there it is.
The question Tobey dreaded to hear, and the words that made his heart practically rip into two.
“Oh Becky, my dear, dear Becky…”
He now took both of her hands into his, looking into her eyes as she stared back.
“I might have fallen for Wordgirl first, that is true…”
Becky fell slightly but her face was quickly replaced with a blink in surprise as he let go of one of her hands and pointed his index finger into the air.
“But! I fell harder for you, because I fell in love with you Becky Botsford. That’s the difference.”
There was a gleam in Becky’s eyes, it was so clear that she practically made the entire room sparkle just by their beauty alone.
Not to mention the fact she brightened every room she had ever stepped foot into (at least Tobey thought so).
“You, Becky Botsford, are radiant. Extraordinary. Alluring. Dare I say, impeccable.” Becky looked down to see Tobey rubbing his thumbs against the surface of her hands, something he did only when she needed comfort in a particular moment.
“And I’ll say it over and over until you practically beg me to stop.” He gave her a smile, making her heart flutter for a second time that night.
“Tobey I… For the first time in my life, I don’t know what to say.” She softly laughed as she smiled up at him.
“That’s alright, take your time. I have nowhere to be at the moment” And there’s nowhere else on earth he’d rather be.
Becky sat in silence for a moment, her eyes scanning the room as she carefully thought about her words, it had to be perfect to show her gratefulness to the words he had spilled out to her.
She took a deep breath, her lips parting slightly as Tobey stared at her with anticipation.
“Tobey, you’re words mean so much to me. God, you have no idea how much they do. I swear my heart beats 100 miles per minute whenever you open your mouth, and it’s been like that for a long time.”
“Ever since fifth grade?” Tobey couldn’t help but ask, the thought of Becky having a crush on him for so long made his own heart beat fast.
“Ever science before fifth grade…” She let out a small laugh, their hands still intertwined from before.
“I thought it was because we were rivals, I truly did but now? I think it’s safe to say my mind and heart were trying to send me the signals and signs. Too bad I ignored them for so long, huh?”
Becky sheepishly grinned, making Tobey shake his head and place a gentle kiss on her forehead making Becky's cheeks flush a deep red.
“Better late than never, my darling.”

WORDGIRL: REWIRED, A FANMADE WORDGIRL REBOOT
HEY, WORDGIRL FANDOM!
I don’t usually go on Tumblr, but this is where the fandom seems the biggest, and I’ve already exhausted my YouTube platform (and uh…I don’t understand Reddit o_o)
I’m making a Wordgirl spinoff/reboot! It will be done in an uncolored animatic style, and takes place five or so years after the original series, with Wordgirl now being 15!
While no help with the story is wanted / needed (my co-director and I know what we want to make and are sticking to it :) ), I still need help with voice acting, art, and writing! (Art and voice acting takes priority atm!)
Artists would be encouraged to stick to their own style, but will be asked to follow the designs I have for characters! (The art doesn’t have to be detailed, as again this is in an animatic style! But I’ve altered some character designs and wish to have those followed!)
The script for episode one is done, a Discord server is set up, and I need help!
I have a Casting Call Club page open for voice actors ( https://cstng.cc/projects/wordgirl-rewired-copy ), and a Google Form application for artists / writers! ( https://forms.gle/WFFNvM8Gm9RPm5sZ6 )
If you don’t want to / can’t contribute to any of those, even just following the project on YT means a lot! https://youtube.com/@snickerdoodlez9210?si=6V7wNgGQN3smZieF
Two-Brains and Tobey - With Tobey’s mom needing to work more and more, Dr. Two-Brains has been hired to babysit her son (seeing as he obviously can’t be home alone). This goes as well as you’d think-
And before you ask, yes, Tobecky will be canon in this spinoff :)
As for the story, our main villains go as follows:
“The Big Family” - With Mr. Big fallen strangely ill, his now wife- Leslie- has taken a much bigger role in his villainous schemes. They’ll soon be accompanied by Eileen and her pet (the Energy Monster)- becoming even more threatening.
Also because “Birthday Town” really made it seem like Eileen was Mr. Big’s daughter or something lol
“The Copy Shop” - while Lady Redundant Woman is (mostly) the only real villain here, her episodes will also have a lot more of Dave- the manager of the copy shop! My co-host and I thought the idea of Lady Redundant Woman and Dave being the adopted-parents of The Royal Dandy was really funny, so that’s gonna be happening now (We have a way to bring back Dandy even though his painting was destroyed, so don’t worry :) ). We also plan to make Dandy more likable while still keeping his obnoxious stuck-up-ery that he had in the series.
Thanks for checking it out if you do! God Bless!

Nervous
Tobey McCallister was not a nervous person.
He wasn't nervous when he made robots that were strong enough and big enough to level the city.
He wasn't nervous when he went to school and dealt with bullies and watched as people backed away from him in terror.
He wasn't nervous when he monologued about his evil genius to anybody that would listen.
But now, alone in his room, as he made a gift for WordGirl, he was shaking with nerves.
It had to be perfect. Completely perfect. WordGirl deserved the very best.
"Stupid brownies!" Tobey snapped. "Why isn't it working? I did the stuff the recipe told me to do, and it's. Not. Working!" He threw the apron off of himself and onto the floor.
"What on earth is this about?" his mother asked.
"The brownies are not working."
"What do you mean, 'they're not working'? They're brownies."
"I followed the recipe, and it didn't go the way it was supposed to. Look at it." He showed the mess to his mother, who appraised it with a critical eye.
"It hasn't been mixed thoroughly enough, that's all." Tobey's mother took the bowl and mixed with such a ferocity you would think that the brownie mix had insulted her personally. "There. That should do it."
Tobey looked at the tamed brownie mix with wide eyes. He knew his mother was strong (he couldn't deny it after all the times she had dragged him home by holding onto his ear) but yeesh. "Thank you, Mother," he said, meekly.
"You're welcome, my dear," she said. "Now, all that's left is to pour it into the tin and set to bake. Should I help you with that part?"
"No. I would like to do that," Tobey said.
"Oh. Sout yourself." And then she left.
Tobey handled the rest of the baking in relative peace, timing it to ensure it wasn't under-cooked or burnt. Now to give it to WordGirl the next time he caught her.
Literally.
"Hahahaha! I have caught you, WordGirl!" Tobey said, laughing hysterically as he saw WordGirl struggling in the palm of his newest and biggest robot.
"What are you planning, Tobey? You are not taking over the city on my watch!" WordGirl said.
"I have a better thing in mind than taking over the city. I want . . . to have brownies with you."
WordGirl stopped struggling and raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"I want to have brownies with you. I made them myself." He offered the plate towards her tentatively. "That's it, I promise."
WordGirl extracted an arm and took a brownie. She sniffed it and took a bite, her eyes opening wide. "Mmm. Good," she said, chewing and swallowing.
Tobey's eyes grew wide. "Really?!"
"Yeah!"
They sat on the rooftop together (once Tobey had released WordGirl from the grasp of his robot's hand) and ate the brownies. Even though WordGirl still had to give him to his mother for still using massive robots to get his way, he didn't even mind.
Because WordGirl ate his brownies.
And she liked them.

HELLO!! WORDGIRL TITLE SCREEN REDRAW!! ((But it’s mostly to showcase an official name and ideas for my AU/Adaptation))
This canon complacent AU/adaptation is officially named:
THE RIPPLE VERSE
This title screen is for VOLUME 1:
!!WORDGIRL!! HomeSick
((The Ripple Verse is tagged so if you’re interested in my AU at all 👉👈 you can click it in the post tags and look more into it))
Summary:
Miss Power. She came to Earth planning to rule the planet starting with Fair City. She was almost successful but thanks to WordGirl, Miss Power was driven away and life continued on… but.. Miss Power was almost alike to her, WordGirl…Wait, She conquers planets..?
..What happened to Lexacon?
Basically:
A fan continuation of WordGirl while also adding my own headcanons (and a side bit of romance cause I like ToBecky- I’m sorry-)
Originally:
I was just planning to make this an AU called !!WORDGIRL!! Teen Spirit (The first post ‘s link of this AU).
But as I kept brainstorming, I realized that I didn’t want to make a story that JUST revolves around Becky/Wordgirl coming back to Earth after leaving for 6-7 years (and falling in love with Tobey—).
Nono, I want to write the PREQUELS as well. So here’s the first peak at what the title screen looks like! Volume 1 will be all about wordgirl before she leaves earth (and ultimately why she leaves)
So BOOM there we go!
