YKNOW i guess there's some good that comes from staring down the barrel of unemployment.
for example: all the government related shit i've needed to do for two-four years all takes place midafternoon on a wednesday. i could potentially get my driver's license and take the mandatory class for WA's first time home owner's assistance!

Social Security has the most obtuse system for making any changes to your benefits. Getting ahold of anyone working for this department is nigh impossible, and it's been made worse with AI based identity technology.
What am I talking about? Let's say you want to change the bank that your SSI gets sent to. You have a few options: you could go to your local office in person. If you don't show up at the very second the doors unlock, you'll be waiting for hours in line. You think the DMV is bad? Nuh uh, that's rookie shit. Even if you show up in person, all the workers might be booked out on appointments.
So, just make an appointment? That could be weeks out. If you need your benefits to go somewhere else immediately, you're SOL.
You could call their number. You'll just be on hold for eternity and the hours that operators are available and accepting calls are not listed. It'll be two fucking minutes before you can even dial an extension to reach the right people because they have to play prerecorded messages that haven't changed in years. Endlessly on hold you will be. Even if you can enter your extension, sometimes the call will just drop and you have to try again. Sometimes you'll just go to voicemail three times in a row, even when it's the scheduled appointment time!!!
Lastly, you can try to change it online. To do this, you must verify your identity using one of two services. This involves taking pictures of your ID, entering your SSN, as well as allowing the third party service to use your phone's camera to scan your face. But wait! These systems don't even work. One of the last steps before I could be verified is that I needed to provide my phone number. The same phone number that I've had all my life. The same number they used to send me codes and links just a moment ago. AND THEY SAY THEY CANT VERIFY THAT IT'S MINE. My only other option is to verify by mail which could take two weeks and I'd have to buy stamps and shit. I do not have that time.
This actually ruined my day. I got very angry. The littlest things started peeving me to the point of shouting and being excessively forceful.
Why can't I just talk to a fucking human being for not even five minutes to provide the new account info for the direct deposit?
Man, if only yuppie republicans knew just how impossible it is to use Social Security as a valid recipient; they would stop bitching about welfare queens and fraudulent recipients, because I guarantee you, no one would put up with this shit if it weren't absolutely necessary. Fuck.

Transferring Car Ownership Across State Borders: Guidelines and Considerations
The prospect of transferring car ownership across state borders can be both exciting and daunting. Whether you're moving to a new state or buying a vehicle from another, understanding the guidelines and considerations for this process is essential. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of transferring car ownership across state borders, providing you with valuable insights to navigate this journey seamlessly.
Understanding Interstate Car Ownership Transfer
Legal Requirements and Documentation
Each state has its own set of regulations governing car ownership transfers. Before initiating the process, familiarize yourself with the specific requirements of both the current and new state. Essential documents typically include the title, bill of sale, odometer reading, emission certificates, and any state-specific transfer forms.
Verification of Emission Standards
Some states have stringent emission standards, and a vehicle that complies with regulations in one state might not meet the criteria in another. Before transferring ownership, ensure your vehicle aligns with the emission standards of the new state. This may involve additional testing or modifications to meet local requirements.
Considerations for a Smooth Transition
Vehicle Inspection and Condition
Conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle's condition before initiating the transfer. Identify and address any necessary repairs or maintenance to ensure the vehicle meets the safety and roadworthiness standards of the new state. This proactive approach can prevent complications during the transfer process.
Understanding Tax Implications
Taxes associated with car ownership vary from state to state. Research the tax implications of transferring ownership across state lines to avoid surprises. Some states may require payment of sales tax, use tax, or registration fees. Being aware of these financial considerations in advance can help you plan accordingly.
Insurance Compliance
Verify that your current auto insurance policy is valid in the new state. Some states may have different insurance requirements, and updating your policy to meet local regulations is crucial. Failure to do so may result in legal complications and the suspension of your driving privileges.
The Step-by-Step Transfer Process
Obtain a State-Specific Checklist
Each state's Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) provides a checklist outlining the steps for transferring car ownership. Obtain and follow this checklist meticulously to ensure you cover all necessary aspects of the transfer process.
Complete Required Forms
Accurately complete all required forms for the ownership transfer. This may include the title transfer form, bill of sale, and any additional state-specific documents. Precision in paperwork is vital to avoid delays and complications.
Visit the Local DMV Office
In most cases, the final step involves visiting the local DMV office to submit the required documentation, pay any applicable fees, and obtain the new title and registration. Scheduling an appointment can streamline this process and reduce waiting times.

Navigate the Process of Renewing Your Driving License
Tumblr media
A driving license, also known as a driver's license or driver's permit, is an official document issued by a government authority that grants an individual the legal permission to operate a motor vehicle on public roads. It serves as proof that the holder has undergone the necessary training, passed the required tests, and met the eligibility criteria to drive a vehicle within a specific jurisdiction.
Driving license typically includes information such as the driver's full name, date of birth, address, photograph, and license number. It also specifies the types of vehicles the holder is authorized to operate, any restrictions or endorsements, and the expiration date of the license.
Renewing your driving license is a crucial task that every driver must undertake at some point. It ensures that you maintain your legal driving status and stay up to date with any changes in regulations. However, the process of renewing a driving license can vary depending on your jurisdiction. In this article, we will guide you through the steps involved in renewing your driving license, helping you navigate the process with ease.
➨Know the Renewal Requirements:
The first step in renewing your driving license is to familiarize yourself with the renewal requirements in your specific jurisdiction. Different countries and states may have varying rules and procedures. Typically, you will need to meet certain criteria such as age, residency, and a clean driving record. Visit your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) website or contact them directly to understand the specific requirements.
➨Gather the Necessary Documents:
Once you understand the renewal requirements, gather all the necessary documents. These may include identification proofs, proof of residency, and your current driving license. It's essential to have these documents ready beforehand to avoid any delays in the renewal process. Check the official DMV website for a comprehensive list of required documents.
➨Schedule an Appointment:
Some jurisdictions require you to schedule an appointment for renewing your driving license, while others allow walk-ins. Determine the procedure in your area and make the necessary arrangements. If an appointment is required, it's advisable to book it in advance to secure your preferred date and time. Be prepared for potential wait times, especially during peak periods.
➨Complete any Mandatory Tests or Evaluations:
Certain jurisdictions may require you to undergo specific tests or evaluations during the renewal process. These tests might include a vision test, written exam, or a practical driving test. Research your local requirements to ensure you are prepared and confident for any evaluations that may be necessary.
➨Pay the Renewal Fee:
Renewing your driving license typically involves a fee, which can vary depending on your jurisdiction and the type of license you hold. Be prepared to pay the renewal fee at the time of the application. Ensure you have the necessary payment methods available, such as cash, debit/credit cards, or checks.
➨ Submitting the Renewal Application:
Once you have gathered all the required documents and completed any necessary tests or evaluations, it's time to submit your renewal application. This step typically involves filling out a form provided by the DMV or an online application, depending on your jurisdiction. Take the time to carefully review and complete the application, ensuring that all information is accurate and up to date. Double-check for any additional supporting documents that may be required and include them with your application.
➨Allow Sufficient Processing Time:
Renewing your driving license is not an instant process. It requires some processing time by the DMV or relevant authority. To avoid any last-minute complications or expiration of your current license, it's advisable to start the renewal process well in advance of the expiration date. Check the estimated processing time provided by your local DMV and plan accordingly.
➨Receive Confirmation and Temporary License:
After submitting your renewal application, you will typically receive a confirmation either immediately or through mail/email. This confirmation will serve as proof that your renewal request is being processed. In some cases, you may also receive a temporary license that allows you to continue driving legally while you wait for your renewed license to arrive. Be sure to keep this confirmation and temporary license in a safe place until you receive your new driving license.
➨Receive and Verify Your Renewed License:
Once your renewal application has been processed and approved, you will receive your renewed driving license. Take the time to carefully review the information on the new license to ensure its accuracy. Check for any errors in your personal details, expiration date, or license class. If you notice any discrepancies, contact the DMV immediately to rectify the issue and receive a corrected license.
➨Update Your License Information:
With your renewed driving license in hand, it's important to update your license information with any relevant parties. Inform your auto insurance provider, employer (if necessary), and any other entities that require your updated license information. Keeping your records up to date will ensure a smooth transition and avoid any potential issues when presenting your renewed license for identification purposes.
Conclusion:
Renewing your driving license is a vital responsibility for all drivers, as it ensures your compliance with the law and keeps your license valid. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can navigate the process of renewing your driving license smoothly and efficiently. Remember to stay informed about the specific requirements in your jurisdiction, gather the necessary documents, schedule appointments if needed, complete any required tests or evaluations, and be prepared to pay the renewal fee. By taking these proactive measures, you can maintain your driving privileges and continue to enjoy the freedom and convenience that comes with holding a valid driving license.

Learning to Drive
A.        What you should know about driving
Everyone should work hard to become a safe driver. Over 1 Million people die each year from car crashes. Driving is a skill most people have to learn. Learning to drive means you need to be prepared for anything. Driving can be very dangerous. With my guide, “learning how to drive”, you can set yourself up to become a safe and responsible driver.
This image is an example of safe and responsible driving.

 B.        Studying and passing your permit test
-The first step to becoming a responsible driver is passing your permit test.
-When you turn 15 you will be legally old enough to take the permit test. You can study before or after your birthday for the permit test. You can take the test anytime after your birthday.
- I recommend studying at least a month before your test. You should study at least 30 minutes every day.
-You should find a copy of your state’s drivers manual. Study everything in the driver’s manual, it will teach you everything you need to know. I also recommend taking online practice tests, you can usually find practice tests on your state’s DMV website. There are also apps you can download; these apps have information from the driver’s manual in any of the US states. You can take practice tests through those apps as well.
-Once you have studied everything you can schedule an appointment with your local DMV. Don’t be pressured to take the test as soon as you turn 15. Take the test when you feel ready.
-You will need to pay for the test and your permit. You will also need legal documents, birth certificate, proof of address, and some form of ID.
This is a photo of the Oregon driver’s manual.

C.        After you passed your permit test
-Now it’s time to start driving. Once you start driving you will be driving with a parent or guardian in your passenger seat.
-You should not start driving on main roads immediately, you should begin in neighborhoods or backroads where there aren’t many cars or people.
-Once you feel comfortable you can begin practicing on busier roads and eventually highways.
-You should drive at least a few times each week. Its important to practice so you can become a safe and responsible driver. Make sure to log your driving time. You will need a certain number of hours logged to take your driver’s test.
You will log your driving hours on a page that looks something like this.
https://www.oregon.gov/odot/DMV/Teen/Documents/teen_drive_log.pdf
 D.        Preparing for your driver’s test
-Before you can take your driver’s test you need to log a certain number of hours that you have driven.
-I recommend taking driver’s ED. Driver’s ED sets you up with a teacher. The driving instructor will teach you everything you need to know to pass your drivers test and become a safe driver.
-Once you have completed driver’s ED or logged enough hours, you are ready to take the driver’s test.
-Studying the driver’s manual again can be helpful. The driver’s test is easy. All you have to do is drive. You will have a driver instructor with you who will give you points as you drive. If you have enough points you pass.
This is what the driver’s test will look like.

 E.         After you get your driver’s license
-Once you pass you will be given a driver’s license. In Oregon you are allowed to drive by yourself for 6 months before you can drive other passengers. You are allowed to drive family members whenever.
-Now you know how to prepare for the driver’s permit test and the driver’s test. You now know how to teach yourself to become a safe and responsible driver.
