I hope the people here know the difference between graffiti and tagging The latter is: Incredible artists who make stunning wall art and messages that creates vibrancy in a city and bring life to boring buildings. Street art that can be political or simply celebratory. The former is: Gang tags that are sometimes sprayed over vital signage and information, and the more tags, the lower the quality of the area becomes, because businesses don't want to go there due to the chance their shops being vandalised. I'm not talking about the big companies, I'm talking about the corner shops run by independent people, (for you Americans- the momnpop stores), that damage their livelihood and the community around them thanks to the Broken Windows discussion. This theory, introduced by criminologist George Kelling and conservative academic James Wilson in 1982, states that environments that are already polluted attract more dirt. In other words, this theory indicates that urban disorder and criminal activities are related to graffiti – which some may also interpret as street art – leading to a negative perception of these practices up to the present days.
I'm talking about this (the tag with the drawing on the left has potential, shame it's ruined by the other bad tags and scrawled shit).

it's lazy and just there to deface as much as possible. it's a sign of an area that's often ravaged with crime and unsafe areas. I don't look at them and think 'yeah stick it to the man'. I'm not talking about this -

This shit brings a smile to my face every time i see something like this. This is skill, talent and creativity. This is someone with skills wasted doing just this. This is vibrancy over a corporate machine of banality. (Though spraying over the windows can sometime fuck up anyone with visual accessibility issues).
it's so funny how graffiti is like a non issue that effortlessly reveals peoples' reactionary tendencies.
