Introducing the Spideychelle Recathon!
I really appreciated all of the hard work and dedication the Spideychelle fandom showed during this year’s Spideychelle Week and I really wanted to find a way to celebrate all of those fantastic creators in this fandom, including those who didn’t participate in the week but contribute to the fandom outside of it. A lot of fan events that are hosted on Tumblr focus on content creation and I wanted to create an event focused on content appreciation.
Then it hit me—a recathon, taking from the words recommendation and marathon; an event that encourages people to rec many fanworks over the course of the event. I’m surely not the first to come up with the idea, but I haven’t seen it in the Spideychelle fandom yet. I hope this event will be a success like Spideychelle Week has proven to be in the past and it becomes a staple for the fandom.
The event will take place in October across all thirty-one days. You do not have to participate for every day, however, and you can pick and choose based on the daily themes that have fanworks that you are passionate about and wish to reccomend to others. I’d like on the chosen day for particpants to create a rec list (it does not have to be a list if you only have one fanwork to rec) and tag this blog (@spideychelleweek) so that I can reblog the rec list. It’s also encouraged that you tag the creators’ you’re reccing and let them know you love their work! If the original creator has already posted the fanwork on Tumblr then you can also choose to reblog their original post and tag this blog, letting me know you’re reccing it.
I hope most of the prompts are self-explanatory, but if not then below the cut I’ll try to simply explain each one. If you have any questions about the prompts or the event then please send in an ask and I’ll answer as promptly as I can.
Day 01 | Classics: Older and beloved fanworks; the type that every fan should read/watch/see and is introduced to every new Spideychelle fan someway or another. These fanworks should have been posted before the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Day 02 | Crossover/Fusion: Crossover is when two fandoms combine, such as a fanwork where Peter Parker meets Robert Patterson’s Batman, while fusion is where the fandoms are merged by implanting the characters of one setting into another, such as the ever popular Hogwarts AU.
Day 03 | Kiss: Fanworks involving kissing, such as a one shot about their first kiss or a fanart of a passionate kiss. Kissing doesn’t have to be the main focus of the work. For instance, if you think a 100k word fanfic has the best kiss scenes then rec it away even if it has 95k words where no kissing is involved.
Day 04 | MJ Backstory: In the MCU’s canon we don’t know a lot about MJ’s family or her life, but the fandom has explored and delved deep into MJ’s character so this slot is for fanworks that explore MJ’s backstory whether it be a down-to-earth depiction of her family or exciting backstory where MJ is a spy.
Day 05 | Fluff: A fanwork that is pleasant and makes you feel good, such as fanworks depicting cuddling or other affectionate actions though fluff isn’t limited to that.
Day 06 | Identity Reveal: Fanworks that explore Peter Parker’s secret identity and it being revealed to MJ (who may already know) or other characters.
Day 07 | Post-FFH: Fanworks that take place after Spider-Man: Far From Home and explore what happens after Mysterio revealed Peter Parker’s identity to the world.
Day 08 | Vids: All kinds of fanworks can be posted for each day, but I imagine most will end up being fics so this day is devoted solely to vids which are video edits often set to music using clips from the films.
Day 09 | Fix-It: For fanworks that “correct” canon events that are not liked by the fan(dom), such as fanworks where the Snap/Blip never happened, Tony never died, or whatever else that fandom seeks to correct through fanworks.
Day 10 | Favorite Creator(s): Spread the spotlight to specific creators whose fanworks you love.
Day 11 | Domestic: Fanworks involving the characters living everyday lives. Often involves marriage or children, but domestic fanworks don’t have to include that nor does domestic mean that Peter can’t have powers, since being Spider-Man is a normal part of his everyday life.
Day 12 | Angst: Fanworks that hit you in the feels by making you feel negative emotions, particularly saddness or fear.
Day 13 | No Spider-Man: Fanworks that depict Peter Parker as a normal human being without superpowers. Other characters can have superpowers, but Peter Parker cannot.
Day 14 | LGBT+: Fanworks that depict LGBT+ themes and/or characters such as Trans!Peter Parker or Bisexual!MJ. Those are just examples, so feel free to rec works that don’t fit those specific parameters as long as they are LGBT+ focused.
Day 15 | Underappreciated: Fanworks that are underappreciated, such as not having that much engagement from the fandom. I’ll let you determine what counts as underappreciated, but please don’t rec fanworks that have 1000 kudos and 50 comments. This day is about praising fanworks that get barely any praise.
Day 16 | Alternative Universe: Fanworks that alter elements of canon, such as College AUs, Coffee Shop AUs, Vampire AUs, Omegaverse AUs, Historical AUs, Soulmate AUs, and so, so, so many more.
Day 17 | Spider-Man 3: Fanworks that make you go, “this could be in the MCU’s Spider-Man 3,” whether it be fanart depicting an epic fight scene, a long fic plotting out a huge overarching narrative, a vid with a tight story, or whatever else you can think of.
Day 18 | One Shots: Fanworks, typically fanfiction but it can include other mediums such as comics, that are standalone stories contained within a single chapter.
Day 19 | Hurt/Comfort: Fanworks involving a character(s) being hurt either emotionally or physically and then being comforted by another character(s).
Day 20 | Self-Rec: Recommend a fanwork or fanworks that you created! Don’t be afraid to be proud of your work and I want everyone to shamelessly rec their fanworks that they’re proud of on this day.
Day 21 | Comic Elements: Fanworks that include elements from the Spider-Man comics that have yet to appear in the MCU, such as the Venom Symbiote or a reimagining of a classic scene/panel/storyline using the MCU’s version of the characters.
Day 22 | Art: A day to recommend your favorite pieces of fanart. This doesn’t just include drawn/painted art, but it can also include cosplay, sculptures, paper craft, and any other medium.
Day 23 | Missing Scene: Any fanwork that fills in a “gap” in the films and could reasonably be seen as canon compliant.
Day 24 | Five Things: A story structure that includes multiple scenes that are related to each other using a common theme. An example is “Five Time Peter & MJ Almost Kissed & The One Time They Did.” The story structure does not need to have exactly five and can have any number as long as it follows the typical structure.
Day 25 | Humor: Fanworks that are humorous and make you laugh.
Day 26 | Smut: Fanworks that depict sexual material of either a Mature or Explicit rating.
Day 27 | Drabble: Fanfics that are exactly one hundred words long, but for this day I’ll accept less words or slightly more. And I also would like to see other mediums for this category such as vids that are less than thirty seconds. Generally, just fanworks that are fairly short in length.
Day 28 | Mental Health: Fanworks that depict mental illness, mental disorders, or neurodivergent headcanons. Examples include, but are not limited to, ADHD, Autism, Panic Attacks, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, etc.
Day 29 | Meta: Essays or analysis discussing the characters and/or relationship in the context of its portrayal in canon or fandom.
Day 30 | New Fanwork: Fanworks that have only been recently posted. I won’t give an exact hard timeline for you to follow, but as a guideline I’d say it counts as new if it was posted in the past two months.
Day 31 | Free Day: Reccomend fanworks based on any theme (or no theme) that you want.

Will Byers: The Great Debate
I know I still have some requested analyses to do, but I’m in a rotten mood, and I need to vent.
This whole debate on Will and whether he is gay has me infuriated. Yeah, I know I’m heavily biased due to my identification with the character, but I’m still pissed. The assumption that Will isn’t gay until they explicit state it is solely based on heteronormativity. In pop culture, people are simply assumed straight until proven otherwise. It’s the reason why they were able to hoodwink everyone with Robin in the first place. With just a mention of her saying she was obsessed with Steve in high school, everyone assumed the two of them would be a thing by the end of the season. That was a totally acceptable assumption to make. Thinking Will is gay? No, they need to tell us that.
There are reasons to think Will is gay, and certainly more than the casual fan probably realizes. I will go over them here, not that I need to lecture anyone who actually reads this on the topic.
1) Will is stated as having sexual identity issues in the original character summary.
Let’s just get this one out of the way. Yeah, it’s not known to the average viewer, but it’s still valid. Sure, they could have since deviated from the original plan, and by itself it may mean nothing, but it’s supporting evidence.
2) Will is bullied for being gay.
This is another one that doesn’t mean anything by itself. Will is bullied for being gay by both his father and the local bully. They could have used any number of similar characteristics, but they went with gay. Will is small, sweet, and honest, so there’s possibilities like mama’s boy, sissy, etc that could have gotten a similar point across without bringing in sexuality. It’s not just a passing mention. It comes up when Joyce talks to Hopper, and he even asks if it’s true. Troy is an absolute monster as he twists the knife in Mike’s wound. Troy bullies the other three for cruel, but accurate, reasons. He mocks Lucas’ race, Dustin’s lack of teeth, and Mike’s face (Mike kinda got off easy if you ask me). Now Troy may or may not be correct, but he probably thinks he is. He digs into each character’s deepest insecurities. He exists to tell us this information. If Will’s sexuality is unimportant, then why have Troy bully him the same way Will’s own father did? Troy simply could have made fun of him for being poor.
3) Will is especially close to Mike
This is made clear in every season. Yeah, they’re best friends, but Will and Mike are depicted as special. From the very start, Will can’t bring himself to lie to Mike. Yeah, I know, you can excuse the whole “It was a 7.” thing as just him foreshadowing his ordeal, but why set it up with Lucas telling him it’s ok as long as Mike doesn’t know? Mike is similarly shown as close to Will, with him being the most concerned. Dustin and Lucas are clearly worried too, and upset when the body is found, but Mike is shown taking it the hardest. They’re telling us the two of them share something special. Season 2 doubles down on this  hard. Mike is the only one Will trusts with what’s happening to him. Mike is the only one he is shown remembering other than is mother. Mike is ultimately the one who breaks through to him.
4) Will is extremely jealous when Mike and El get together.
I don’t know why this one is hard for people to see. Maybe they’re just not looking for it. Yeah, some of it is just some good, subtle acting. Will is upset every single time Mike is shown showing affection for El. It technically starts in the Season 2 script with Will’s eyes being on Mike as they were all dancing. I know I’ve seen a clip of Will glancing over and looking upset, but I don’t remember that from the actual release. Was that a deleted scene? If so, its removal is conspicuous, especially with that released script. The jealousy is still apparent throughout Season 3. The sad looks on Will’s face whenever Mike and El are together, when Mike says he loves her. The anger he shows towards Mike, and only Mike, despite Dustin and Lucas similarly being focused on girls. I know I’ve seen people say he smiles when El dumps Mike. I honestly can’t tell, but he does look away, suggesting he doesn’t want his reaction to be noticed.
5) Mike is able to evoke emotion in Will
For the most part, Will is a quiet kid. He’s soft-spoken and has an innocence about him. He has a little frustration in Season 2, due to people treating him differently (though he leaves Mike out of his accusations), but he’s generally a go with the flow guy. Mike has the power to calm Will, to cheer him up, and make him cry both good and bad tears. Even in Season 3, his D&D annoyance is a slow build. It’s ultimately Mike’s rejection that sets him off. It’s specifically the fact that he feels he’s losing Mike. They were building that frustration alongside the D&D the entire season to that point. Is it really that much of a stretch for D&D to be a metaphor here? He jabs Mike over El when Mike tries to apologize, accusing him of throwing everything away over a “stupid girl.” Now, this “stupid girl” is supposed to be a friend of his, one who has helped save him twice. Will looks around Castle Byers at a D&D book and a drawing of Will the Wise. Both are accompanied by flashbacks beginning with Mike’s voice. He tears up the photo from Halloween, the night of the Crazy Together moment, right down the middle where Mike and Will are depicted. Will ends up destroying Castle Byers, berating himself the entire time, before collapsing in anguish. Yeah, it can be open to interpretation, but it’s not hard to see that Will could be calling himself stupid for thinking he and Mike shared something special now that El is in the picture. I’d like the people who think Will just isn’t ready to grow up to explain to me why that scene felt more like a breakup than a friend fight.
6) Will seems relatively trauma-free
Now, this is actually an issue I have with the show, as Will, along with pretty much the entire cast, should be amazingly traumatized. I bring it up only to counter the idea that Will has lost a portion of his childhood to the Upside Down, and so he’s not ready to grow up. Will has lost about two weeks of his childhood. He showed some issues in Season 2 before getting possessed, but he’s also shown enjoying his childhood as well. Just because we rejoin his life when bad stuff returns to Hawkins it doesn’t mean he had no life in the interim. He didn’t spend every day since getting rescued from the Upside Down in a hospital or deprived of his friends. There’s honestly no reason why Eleven would be more ready for adolescence than Will. If anything, Will should be associating his trauma with D&D and avoiding it like the plague. It should be causing him post-traumatic stress. He should want to get as far away from reminders of what happened as possible. A game with mindflayers and demogorgons isn’t something he should want. He has a reason for wanting D&D, and it’s not that he’s still a kid inside, because he still had other interests before Season 3, like comics, drawing, and the arcade.
7) Will not liking girls doesn’t just mean he doesn’t like them yet
This is the other counter argument I’ve noticed: that Will just hasn’t matured to liking girls yet. While it’s not unbelievable for a boy his age to not start sexually maturing, there’s really no indication of this. He isn’t just uncomfortable dancing with the girl in Season 2, he flat out doesn’t want to do it. He also has no problem with Max joining them for Halloween, stating that Dustin and Lucas were excited about it so he ok’d it. He understands boys liking girls. He shows no real hostility towards Dustin or Lucas for it. When he tells Joyce he’s never going to fall in love, it doesn’t sound like a kid who finds the idea of dating gross. He sounds sad as he says it. When Mike says it’s not his fault Will doesn’t like girls, Will is stunned into silence. Now Mike doesn’t know if Will is gay, and Will may not really know either, but it cuts deep.
In conclusion
By no means is my interpretation definitely correct. I could be absolutely wrong. But why is my interpretation seen as ridiculous? My theory isn’t perfect, but I have evidence. I have rebuttals to alternate interpretations. If we’re not meant to think Will is gay, why does it seem like they keep giving us reasons to? If it’s not important, people from the show could easily just say so. Noah and Finn end up having to awkwardly respond to questions they may not even have the answers to.
It’d be very strange if the Duffers and their team somehow painted themselves into a corner by accident. It’s possible, sure, but I don’t see how it could keep happening. Finn had said they had other takes of “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls!” including one that added “yet”, but stated that they ultimately went with the one in question. Well, I mean, they chose to go with that one. I don’t know why, but neither do the people saying Will is just immature. We speculate, and if I speculate that they went with that one because that’s the storyline they’re going for and are trying to keep it under wraps, then I should be allowed to do so without being scoffed at. I may be biased because of my bisexuality, but they’re also biased because of their heteronormativity.

Note
My bud, if you wanna be salty, be salty about a video game. Pick one and whine about it and I will sit here and nod with you. :)
let’s talk about dmc (franchise)
I love dmc, I love every (almost) iteration of it, I own multiple copies of 3, 4, and DmC. I’ve poured more money into this single franchise than I have a lot of other stuff (MKR still tops that list though. Holy shit MKR is still the lead).
For those following me who don’t know: Devil May Cry (DMC) is an action fighting game made by Capcom. Originally, it was being developed as a Resident Evil game, but during development, they got a bit off the mark and decided to still keep what they’d made, but turn it into its own IP. Cool. They released Devil May Cry for the PS2 in 2001, saw a fairly nice reception.
They went on to develop Devil May Cry 2 (which outside of this post is nonexistent, but will be discussed for the sake of completion) and released in 2003. This one was not done by the same team and Hideki Kamiya was actually pretty surprised it was being developed and a little upset he wasn’t called in on it. It got a harsher review, both because its storyline takes place in an unknown number of decades in the future, the gameplay was not as good, and its difficulty level lowered tremendously for no apparent reason. Its English voice acting left a lot to be questioned (e.g. this iconic ending scene ). The fandom has collectively agreed to ignore its existence it was so disliked.
Capcom took a break before they started development on Devil May Cry 3, a prequel telling the story of Dante and his twin brother, Vergil fighting over the legacy of their father. It was a hit because fans recognized the Dante they liked, the gameplay was some of the best at the time (2005), and the story was levels above what we received in 2. They shortly after released a Special Edition that had Vergil as a playable character with his own story route as well.
Devil May Cry 4 was going to be Capcom’s first ps3 title, which made the developers a little nervous because no one had worked with it before, so they focused on using a PC engine. It takes place somewhere between 1 and 2, with Dante as an older, cocky jerk with a heart of gold working with Trisha still. It introduced us also to Nero, a new character the player starts as. It brought a lot of questions and theories that, as far as I know, haven’t had conclusive answers (but I may be wrong and they’re in the manga/novels? who knows).
Which brings me to DmC: Devil May Cry, fifth game in the franchise, and my salt. I definitely was watching the development of this game and a lot of my salt comes from........ fans. Fan outcry before the game had even come out. Which to an extent, I get: we were ready to see Dante again, ready to play as our idiot with a heart of gold. And we got that! Just not the packaging most fans expected or wanted. Capcom spent several years waffling on whether the title would be a reboot of the existing franchise, a pre-prequel set before 3, or an alternate universe. Ultimately, they went with alternate universe franchise reboot, noted right up at its release.
It’s not a bad game. There’s parts of it I don’t particularly enjoy (namely: the opening sequence in the strip club that you can’t skip despite being ng+), but that doesn’t take away how fun the game is to play. It’s genuinely fun! I enjoyed more aspects of playing this game than I do most games I rave about. It’s literally the game I plug in when I’m frustrated and need to get in a better mood.  The environments are engaging, the story is cliched but still decent, the characters are interesting. Not the greatest game ever made, but definitely not deserving the hate it received before the first trailer had even released.
To this day, I don’t know if Capcom will ever work on another DmC title because of its reception or what. I hope they do. Anyway, my salt is that fans ruin everything I enjoy, the end.

Julien is a song I wrote about my high school friend, Julien, who ended his own life at age 15. He and I were born on the same day of the same year and his suicide came at a time in my life when I too was contemplating and had come just inches from committing suicide myself. Julien’s suicide had a massive impact on me, but perhaps the most powerful lesson was the raw and violently exposed truth and example that ending your life is not the way out. The chorus lyric “Julien, I don’t agree, but Julien, I think you saved me” speaks directly to this. 'Julien' is special and important enough to me, simply due to the subject. However, the way it was written is by far the most significant part of the story of this song. Many years after Julien’s death, I fell asleep on my couch in the afternoon and quite literally dreamt of this song. The lyrics, the melody, the sound, it all came to me in a dream.
Right now we are... Really excited about our new album 'Amnesia'.

Song name: Kite
Music Genre:: Gospel/Easy Listening/ Alternative
I live in... : Coffs Harbour, Australia
Kite is a song about the ups and downs of love. It speaks about how at times loving someone can have its challenges but at the same time, love does not give up.
My music is mostly inspirational and this album has an upbeat feel to it. I create because I am gifted to do this and I chose to share my gift with others. The scripture says gifts and callings of God are irrevocable (Romans 11:29) which means once you're born with a gift, it will never be taken away from you ... whether you chose to use it or not. The choice is you're if you wish to work on your gift and share it. I must admit it has taken lots of work to get to this point and I am still learning more and more every day!
I think this release asks the simple question ... to love or not to love?... and the answer is ... to love.

Genre: Alternative rock
Located in: Edison, New Jersey USA
This song is awesomely driven by rock guitar to create an ambient that filters through the music. The story is about the way we struggle to make life what we want it to be. Success always comes at last but the road to it is not easy.
This music shows exactly a storyline that is different from other music I created and it is in the forefront of most of my songs. Everyone so far likes Easy life.
I continue to write music through inspiration and I love making music because it makes me happy. And also many people have written to me explaining how my music helps them every day.
Right now I’m in the studio finishing my next single. This song was inspired by the Beatles.

‘Vapour trails in the sky, thousands of people passing by’. Alan wrote this song in the Summer as he looked up at the sky one evening, pondering on all the people up there, their lives, their stories and where they were headed. Many of them off to see friends and loved ones at the other end of their journey. Many of us have been in that position, and so the song is about all of us. It was made more poignant by the amazing patterns that vapour trails can leave both in the day and night skies and we wanted the song to reflect all those sights, thoughts and emotions.

What If Hawking Is Right?
Specifically, because the man left us with no shortage of science, what if he’s right about the multiverse?
Once relegated to the purview of comic books and science fiction films, the concept of the multiverse - or an infinity of realities that run parallel to the reality we perceive - inveigled Professor Stephen Hawking and his research partners in the final days of his life. Hawking has long sought to understand the nature of our universe on a grand scale, building upon the time-immemorial theory of relativity offered by Einstein and other scientific research into the nature of time, space, gravity, and other cosmic forces. In May 2018, months after his death, Hawking’s final paper, “A Smooth Exit from Eternal Inflation?” (co-authored with Professor Thomas Hertog of Catholic University of Leuven), posited a new concept for not just detecting the existence of parallel universes but also controlling them.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Not only does Hawking say that alternate universes exist around us, but we can control them.
The Outer Limits, eat yer heart out.
The paper, and most of Hawking’s related research left behind, is full of equations and mathematics that would tie good Will Hunting’s glands in knots. So let us, the lay-people, seek not to untangle that uproarious wizardry and instead turn our attention to the inevitable question of, “So... now what????”
If the very nature of reality is provably different in this fundamental way that Hawking described, what should we be doing? His paper argues for a few concrete ideas for continuing research toward detecting and perceiving parallel universes but not much else. Even Hawking was bound by the procedural steps scientifically available to him, but it did not stop him from theorizing a future capability in affecting new realities that we discover. Again, we turn back to the lessons and conceptualizations of the multiverse offered in science and speculative fiction of various media. Where science fails us, art can enable us.
Audiences have been treated to depictions of alternate universes since the time of Plato, whose own musings divided the observable world from concepts of Heaven and Hell, which linearly can be traced through additional manifestations of worlds like Olympus, Asgard, Hades, Valhalla, and more. Early science fiction writers like Jules Verne and H.G. Wells, wrestling with the nature of the observable universe without today’s science-based lexicon, theorized the existence of time as a fourth dimension, how it is affected by the third dimension of space, and theoretical fifth and sixth dimensions beyond. The dimensions themselves become fodder for fiction-versus-science discussions amongst nerd populations worldwide as the influence of TV and movies like Doctor Who and Interstellar explore “hard science” answers to fictional problems. Interstellar’s simplistic description of traveling through higher dimensions to shortcut time have continually popped up around dinner tables everywhere to help wide-eyed, would-be science nerds explain black holes and relativity to their God-fearing families.
Where TV and film have taken the concept of alternate realities into near-nauseating pedestrianism, plenty of short and long prose have been published under various means of explaining the multiverse. One of the more notable attempts is Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series of novels. Begun in 1982, King uses the concept of the Dark Tower to explain his conception of the multiverse: a tall, mysterious tower that exists in time and space but also in various different dimensions as the source of all realities and worlds. It is dimensional damage to Mid-World that prompts Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger, to seek the Dark Tower in an attempt to repair reality. En route, Roland finds companionship from characters that cross over into his world from various time periods in New York City, and the narrative even revisits worlds from Kind’s other novels like The Stand and ‘Salem’s Lot.
In the background of this narrative, the reader can sense King working out the math for a multiverse of universes in his own way, the way of the writer. Instead of using equations, King uses cultural touchstones and raw imagination to concoct different scenarios and situations where a multiverse bled over into itself would manifest in reality. The fantasy-inspired land of Gilead bears elements of Arthurian legend alongside lyrics from “Hey, Jude.” Over the course of eight novels, King weaves a complex tale about how reality and time could work.
Some of the most interesting and engaging ideas about the multiverse have emanated from the comic book medium. DC Comics orchestrated a line-wide event in the 1980s to clean up and simplify its comics’ continuity by addressing the multiple worlds and versions of its characters. The storyline, Crisis on Infinite Earths, explored all of the various versions of DC’s characters and eventually harmonized their universes into a single, modified-canon universe, only to be undone decades later with subsequent crossover events. In these events, multiple versions of Superman and Batman exist on different worlds, new character properties acquired by DC Comics were integrated into their publishing plans and explained away, and reality itself is policed by collections of superheroes and “Monitors.” DC’s abundant fuckery with its own continuity eventually led writer Grant Morrison to produce a series called The Multiversity, which sought to define and give structure to all the extant universes and planes of existence referred to and known throughout the DC universe.
Morrison himself proffers an intriguing concept about the nature of the DC universe and, by extension, reality itself. In his autobiography Supergods, Morrison postulated that the DC universe’s fictional world was in and of itself sentient in some way, arguing that all of the published DC Comics stories existed as by-products of a living, breathing, and aware reality. He even used this concept in his own Final Crisis miniseries to bring back Barry Allen, the original Flash (who had been killed in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths), where Morrison explained that because of a reality-altering threat by the New Gods of Apokolips, the DC universe itself resurrected one of its greatest heroes to combat that threat.
Morrison, by the by, did a lot of drugs. It was through one of his LSD-inspired brainstorming sessions that he believed to have pierced the veil of reality for himself in a quite literal way. He went on to use this specific drug-addled experience as inspiration for his reality-bending series The Invisibles.
Writer Warren Ellis’ and artist John Cassaday’s finite series Planetary explored the idea of the multiverse by confronting different storytelling genres and tropes. The underlying story involves the discovery of and attempt to contact a fictional world by a group of four scientists familiar to readers as sociopathic analogues of Marvel’s Fantastic Four. Several types of fictional universes find their ways into Planetary from Hong Kong action movies to Sherlock Holmes to Godzilla to Tarzan to the Justice League. Ellis and Cassaday use the comic book format to play around with the nature of reality and storytelling under the guise of revisiting notable fictional genres.
Possibly one of the most mind-bending and detail-obsessive approaches to the multiverse occurs in Alan Moore’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, illustrated by Kevin O’Neill. The initial conceit for the series involves the organization of a group of characters from Victorian literature to protect the interests of the British Crown. These familiar characters - Dr. Jekyll, Allan Quatermain, the Invisible Man, and more - served Moore in a way to discover and explore the connective tissue between British fiction. Throughout the series, the characters encounter characters from many different types of British fiction, from H.G. Wells’ Martians to Moriarty himself. In one notable endpoint to the series, modern versions of the League seek to put an end to a fabled Antichrist who takes the form of a grownup Harry Potter that has laid waste to Hogwarts. Volumes of annotations have been produced that analyze every panel of each issue of LoEG, discovering degrees to Moore’s obsession with detail that surprise even the hardiest of readers. With each successive reread, one discovers throwaway mentions to obscure characters that prompt instant reexamination of the entire text and which fictional worlds may become part of it.
Moore’s conceit with LoEG evolves into an examination of possibility and imagination, positing that all the worlds we have dreamt up exist in the same continuum. In The Black Dossier, readers discover that League members have ascended their protection from just Britain to reality itself. They enter a conceptual Shangri-La called The Blazing World, which seems to be the intersection of all known realities and universes conceived of and recorded by man, and perhaps a few more at that. The greatest concept offered by Moore here, and echoing both Morrison and Ellis, is that stories and ideas themselves constitute universes of their own... that the mere dreaming of anything in imagination creates new universes, worlds, and realities.
Spool that idea now back to Hawking’s theoretical concept of the multiverse. In Hawking’s estimation, the Big Bang did not just create the universe that we know of and can perceive, governed by our known laws of physics. Instead, it created multiple universes that continue to expand today. So, what if those expansions account for the same universes dreamt up in fiction? That every character, every novel, every short story, every idea put to paper or not creates its own universe in Hawking’s multiverse?
Does that then mean we can discover them? For real? In the means of our universe’s physics and not just through the experience of consuming stories about these universes?
If that’s true... then what do we do next?
If by Hawking’s logic we can detect the presence of the Blazing World... can we also get to it?
Here’s the bigger “if”: Even if we work out how to get there... then what? How does it change... everything? If you know that one day, maybe not tomorrow or even within your lifetime, but one day we will be able to leave this reality and enter a new one of our choosing... what do we do next? How does it change things? Society. Civilization. Religion. Politics. Taxes. Conservation. Space. Science. Learning. War. Hatred. Evil. Good.
What do we do now?

Things To Know Monster Truck Games
My Secret World is the latest in a long line of Imagine games released on the Nintendo DS. The series seems to be only just getting started with more spins off titles than you can, well.... imagine. In 2007, four Imagine games were released. These were Happy Cooking, Fashion Designer, Pet Vet and Babies. Four games from one series is pretty unusual in videos games, but the developers of the Imagine series, Ubisoft, were just getting warmed-up. In 2008 they have released an almost unbelievable 11 new games for the series. These Imagine Titles were; Figure Skater, Girl Band, Teacher, My Secret World, Babysitters, Baby Club, Fashion Model, Modern Dancer, Fashion Designer New York, Champion Rider and Pet Hospital. Wait, that's not all. Before the end of 2008 they plant to release 7 more. The 7 forthcoming Imagine titles are; Party Babyz, Interior Designer, Wedding Designer, Gymnast, Movie Start, Ballet Star and Fashion Party. 18 games from a series in a single year is unheard of. Even with Nintendo seemingly releasing every second title as a Mario game, it still doesn't come close to this. So why are so many Imagine games being released in such a short space of time? Ubisoft are targeting the female audience of video games players who have until recently been fairly under-catered for. This hasn't just been a case of games developers being sexist. Many games developers have tried games targets at females but the sales just haven't made it a profitable venture. The Nintendo DS has managed for the first time to attract a more evenly spread audience of males and females. This has been done by producing games such as Nintendogs which focuses on a subject which is seen as less male orientated. Since the Nintendo DS has succeeded where other have not, Ubisoft have set themselves a target of capitalising on the large female proportion of DS owners. Whereas video games typically focus on adventures and battles, casual female gamers tend to be more drawn toward more life-like situations. For example, in Imagine: Teacher the player takes on the role of a teacher, rather than leading an army or raiding tombs. Others in the Imagine series aren't really what you would consider a game. My Secret World is more of an interactive diary with personality tests than a game. It could be questioned how high the quality of these games are, since so many are being produced in such a short time. The games certainly don't give the appearance of a rushed job with attractive and unique interfaces in each. The gameplay however feels shallow and repetitive. It could be said that the Imagine series is more reliant on its subject matter, cute graphics, packaging and advertising campaign than its gameplay. It certainly seems that the series is successful yet it does not have great reviews. Video game review website IGN state that Imagine: Teacher is the best of series and still only rates it with 7.5 out of 10, while others score even lower with Imagine: Rockstar earning just 3.2 out of 10. Imagine: My Secret World for the Nintendo DS is out now. It can be used as a fun diary as well as for taking personality tests and playing a handful of mini-games. To find out more about My Secret World by Imagine, click the link above. Drive the particular truck your way through different terrains and thresholds. Phantasmat is the latest game from Codeminion, the developers of hit games such as Brunhilda and Saqqarah. Phantasmat is a worthy successor, containing the same strong adventure storyline and amazing graphics you would expect from a game with such a pedigree. This time, the story is set in a foreboding forest surrounding a cold and dark lake with a tragic history. The adventure begins in earnest as you try to figure out how to get out of this mess and get help for both yourself and a possibly-mad young lady who seems oh-so-friendly. The first thing you will notice is that the story really grabs you, and definitely takes center stage in this game. The original story (with a few cliches thrown in) has that sense of mystery and urgency that makes you want to find out more rightaway. You might have seen similar stories before, and might even be able to guess how this one ends, but it is so well-written that you are guaranteed to be thoroughly entertained as you experience this thrilling journey. It may seem like high praise, but Phantasmat certainly looks like a great adventure game and a complete entertainment package. You will love it if you liked similar thriller adventure games such as Mystery Case Files: Dire Grove. The basic version of the game is not available yet, but you can get the Collector's Edition which includes exclusive extras such as a bonus adventure, replayable levels and more. You should keep in mind however that some of these cheap body kits will be priced in the $300 range. Now before you say that this is not cheap you may want to reconsider. There are other body kits which bear a price tag of about $2,000 and upwards. So when you look at these body kits or conversions as they may sometimes be called you can actually see why they would be called cheap. In most of these cheap body kits you will find OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and interesting parts for the front, back and sides of your car. There are great accessories like hood scoops, fog lights and even trunkwings. With these various parts you can change the way your car looks - from the ordinary to the extraordinary - and performs. One of the main perks to these stroller/car seat combos is that the car seat fits onto the stroller so you don't have to get your baby in and out of the car seat every time you need to use the stroller. You can simply fit the car seat onto the stroller and off you go. This can save you time when the weather is bad or you are in a hurry. Plus, it can save you from waking the baby up to switch them from one to the other. These include a gold premium currency, as well as a 'gas' resource that is expended every time you race (it refreshes over time, or can be filled with in-app purchases). Need for Speed: Most Wanted ( Android and iOS ) is starting to show its age, but still delivers adrenaline-pumping racing action. Players take the wheel of any of 40 of the world's hottest rides for intense street races, all while avoiding hyper-aggressive police pursuit vehicles. Compete in numerous game modes, from the classic six-way races to time attacks and speed runs then climb up the ladder to become the most wanted. NFS fans should take note that the next mobile Need For Speed Game, NFS: No Limits just soft launched in selected regions, no word yet on the full release. Take to the skies with Red Bull Air Race( Android and iOS ), the world's fastest motorsport, now on mobile devices. Take control of some of the world's most maneuverable aerobatic planes, advance up the ranks from novice to master pilot, and square off against some of the sport's most famous pilots. Explore real world locations, engage in death-defying aerobatic stunts, and conquer the skies. When it comes to choosing headlights, there is one major conflict that most of us face, halogen vs xenon. If you are looking for something less expensive and easy to replace, then I would advise you to go for halogen lights. However, if you are willing to spend on car headlights that are going to last longer, Xenon lights are a better option. So, there, I have explained durability. Another feature of halogen headlights is that they have to be handled with greater care as they can react to other substances. GXSkate is the new phenomenon in Skate Board stunts and tricks appealing to kids of 6 years an older. Take the GX Skate Half Pipe Set that can perform all the amazing GX Skate stunts and tricks. For those who wish to keep up with all the latest technological fashions available today, you'll be pleased to hear that you may now be able to control your music in the car with a remote control. That's right; with the SoundGate iPod car adapter, you can potentially use a remote to control all your music, so you won't have to fidget with your iPod or your radio controls while you drive. This option may depend on the type of car you drive, as all vehicles may not be compatible with the remote control system. The option is, however, available to many. Well before you begin your used car search you should first find a mechanic you can trust. This mechanic is necessary so that you can find a great used car and avoid purchasing a lemon. Once you have found a mechanic you trust, take a prospective vehicle to the shop and have the mechanic do a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Any reputable dealership will allow you to do this, and an individual selling a vehicle should agree to this inspection as well. But earning money in Crazy Taxi 3 game not always easy.Because there will be difficulties when you are a taxi first you will feel the traffic is the biggest problem on the it isnt.Because there are gangs at the streets waiting to rob you, or some passengers are very angry and they are ready to fight as a taxi driver you must be kind and polite to all of the will try to deliver customer fastly so they dont get angry.
