I was just about to mention that The Smiths bassist Andy Rourke passed away on the weekend, and I saw your post that Louis updated before that 😱 I was a Smiths fan back in the 80s and it's lovely to see that Louis loves the same music I grew up with 🤧

Yeah he's added The Smiths and worn related stuffs over the years but it's nice to see its still current and more and more are getting added. I also don't feel cis at all but not genderfluid enough to call myself that. More like genderignorant that I dont care but i do view myself male but relate a lot more to being female/feminine. But demi-boy kinda made sense to me because I dont feel genderfluid but more half a boy and the other half of me is feminine.

i think my current gender is just like when you throw a stack of important papers to the side and its like "whatever i'll work on these later" but later never comes so you never figure it out and its still there and you keep thinking "i should finish those papers" but never do because theres no deadline or sense of urgency

So I usually try to do music from a bunch of different countries on these playlists, but now that the Latvian thing has become an acknowledged running joke, it's time to take it to the next level. Also, while I dunk on the algorithm as much as any tumblr user... it really has taken my love of Citi Zēni and turned into a plethora of awesome artists that I've had an amazing time listening to. So I'm gonna just give Latvia some love here.

Too many to name.

1. Figuring out poses is the hardest for me, since I have difficulty imagining the right positioning + anatomy without some help. I heavily rely on references to get the vibes just right, especially for hands and perspective.

2. I can't say my taste in music is for everyone haha! I think it's clear from the two playlists I've made for Mushroom Oasis. But! Here's my little genre sandwich from Spotify Wrapped? I can't say it's super accurate since I listen to a bunch of alt, ska and jazz too but oh well.

I might've ruined my sandwich when I kept listening to NITW and Utopia's soundtracks nonstop and back-to-back while working for hours this year but uh, have it:

saw @tma-thoughts ‘s post talking about not enough butch charles rowland and wanting to see more butch4femme painland and naturally I spent the entire rest of my day brainstorming, researching, and then drawing this time period accurate (to the best of my abilities) butch!Edwin(a? Edie?) x femme!Charles (definitely Charlotte/Charlie)

I have whole spreads of photo references for both of them but in case anyone is interested, Charles is inspired by rudegirl/ska punk/skinhead/punk/goth feminine aesthetics from the 1980s UK (even more specifically by the band The Bodysnatchers) while Edwin is inspired mainly by sportswear for women in the 1910s as well as what photos I could find of teenage girls during that era! in terms of Edwin reading as butch, I wanted to combine the shortest hair I could get away with (for the era and while still reading as Edwin—too 20s reads as too fashion forward which is not the vibe), as well as balance the line between sportswear (which imo reads as butch) and Edwin’s usual fashions. I also kept her makeup-free, accessory-free, and overall more “practical” in her dress to try and read as more butch. something to note that you don’t see here— Edwin is 100% wearing bloomers/trousers either as part of or underneath this skirt. I couldn’t get it to read correctly in the design but I need you to know they’re there lmao

this was conceived as a joke with friends about how midvalley in modern AU would be into ska and then ‘the gung-ho guns as a ska band though. wolfwood has a keytar called the punisher’ ‘and it’s still shaped like the punisher - it’s 4 keyboards’.

obviously there’s others to add - like midvalley’s baeblade gauntlet. and maybe another (metal? rock?) band that’s vash (lead guitar, vocals) and livio (drums) and?? knives (bass) so that wolfwood has somewhere to go when he snaps out of his haze and leaves lmao (maybe he supplants knives as a bass player + backup vocals just to amuse me personally)

(i’ll admit to not knowing anything about ska so i just defaulted to making all the men look “uncool in a way that’s kinda swag in its own right” and elendira that kind of “probably smells of ‘’’incense’’’” vibe. i also could not suss out the instrument refs so i accidentally gave the trumpet too many valves and gave up on the sax lol)

It's whatever if you don't listen to Every genre of music relating to black people

It's whatever if rap isn't regularly on your stuff

You won't be hunted for fucking sport over not knowing the top ten ska artist of all time, or for having less rock in your life

The issues is that too many of you have a desperate need to explain that you don't like it and frankly just keep it to yourself. Just don't comment on whatever post hurt your white fragility and realize you don't have to be who the post is talking about if you just... even start with not explaining to use why your the Not Racist. We've all heard that one before, we need your money to be where your mouth is.

Lots of you have issues with generalizing ("Rap is too fast!" "Hip-Hop is about nothing but drugs and street crime")

You don't need to tell me your sensory issues are why you aren't racist. No One Said That. You can just Not Listen to songs that hurt your ears. We're asking for you to explore and try and find stuff that might be within your limits. There's tons of genres made by black people. Put our version in there.

Also there's no way to excuse saying that no version of black peoples various genres cant be used for music stimming. Thats bullshit talk. Methinks you've been slacking you your black history and probably don't realize that (unless you Choose to isten to only white artist which... thats IS racist) an artist you listen to is very possibly a person of color, with a good chance of one being black.

We also don't need the announcement that you don't pay attention to who you listen to. That's 1: Admitting you don't fucking care to actively seek out pur music as we beg not to be drowned out in a world thay pushes white voices to idle ears.

2: Just keep doing it wothout fanfare then at least. If you're going to be lazy about music don't be proud to tell me how you wont make space to showe you care about black voices.

Also don't try and argue about how you know all of this genre is actually bad! You're Wrong.

1. Even the "bad" ones can have all kinda of statements of all kinda of things.

Ex: ou wanna fight misogyny? do you actually understand whet causes it? do you listen when they sing that before they were a pimp they were a little kid who got hurt by a system? do you use that to remember to treat black boys like the kids they are so they don't rush to be the adult men they aren't? They are told they are Men and Men have to get women or else they're Failed Men. They chase their manhood because White Men are eager to tale ir at a moments notice and the slightest offense. Is it okay? No. But it's stoppable. And it starts at listening to how it happens, and being kind and correctional in the right places.

2. Even if we as black people condemned and hated and were in outrage at the "bad verions" that wouldn't invalidate every other version made. That's not how music fucking works for pop or for your old timey classical so why do some of you apply it to our genres so quickly 🤨🤨🤨

And for the love of god.

Don't ask for recs on post venting frustrations about white peoples treatement of our music. Leaving ones if you know good ones is fine usually, but honestly just make your own post and then go out and start searching some key words. Look up what genres have black history. Type their genres in and see what you get artist wise.

Lots of them have mixes into other genres that will fit what kind of vibe you like while still supporting the voices that keep thse alive and authentic.

Or send them ask because that's what to features for. Ask if they're okay with it and respect if they say no, but many of us would be overjoyed to share and actually have some really listening ears out there.
