Spoilers for the TMNT 40th Anniversary Comics Celebration, TMNT 2012’s “Kraang Among Us” by Ciro Nieli

So can we say this confirms (maybe) that in TMNT 2012, 1 season = 1 year??

So that whole Mikey saying he’s still 15 in S3 is absolute bs

My best guess is that this story takes place after Seasons 4. I’ve always saw the arcs in S5 as epilogues (minus mutant apocalypse) so S5 might be a long shot, but could also make sense.

This transformation was beautiful illustrated and the whole sequence was absolutely terrifying. I remember a couple years ago Ciro Nieli was interviewed in an article and he stated that if he ever had a chance to make a sequel for the 2012 series, he would have it take place during the turtles young adulthood where the Kraang would return and the store would be something similar to the horror movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Over all, I would LOVE a follow up to this! If Ciro could make it possible to have the 2012 series continue as a comic and continue on with this story along with returning all the other 2012 characters like April, Casey, Karai, Mutanimals, Mona Lisa, Renet etc. I’d be very happy!

I adore these guys, but struggled so much with their designs at first HDHDJSJ

Mikey dissapeared almost half a decade, which was mostly spent stuck in Dimension X.

Kraang share somewhat of a hivemind, their head tendrils being the "antennae" that connect them, so exiled Kraang amputate these to be completely shut out from society and are considered "rogue" kraang by the Hivemind.

They have 8 tentacles/tendrils in total, are very squishy and surprisingly enough, can be eaten (Mikey didn't earn the name Kraang Eater for nothing)

Known across the universe for being aggressive and having some thelekinetic habilities, they're definitely some infamous ones, constantly getting into some sort of war.

Bishop and Caine were Mikey's buddies most of his stay in Dimension X, being part of a multi-species rebel group that worked agaisnt the Hivemind after being exiled/voluntarily leaving (respectively)

They're agender, but they've caught on many of Earth's customs, including pronouns. They reproduce by basically sprouting from the ground (in very specific circumstances) and Earth's ground seems yummy...

Holy moly so many things to celebrate.

First, this is page 100! We’re at 100 pages! Never ever ever would I have thought I could stick with a project for this long but here we are. All the nice comments and reblogs and everything have certainly helped a bunch, thank you so much for the kind words!

Second, Snakeatello got in the preliminaries for @tmntaucompetition (I guess I’ll count this update as propaganda while I’m at it)! I’m going to make some stuff just for that but thanks for voting him in and I hope he’ll prove a worthy contender. There’s a lot of really great AUs in there and I’m so glad to even be considered among those great stories.

Im not good at designing but here's my designs of Kraang and Shredder in my iteration ....

meet Turtle 1, an adorable spiky ball of energy. He’s only 3 and already has so much personality, he’s huge, like really huge for a toddler. He has started saying simple words but mostly makes chirps and when angry he screams, it’s always funny when that happens. He’s the only entertainment we really get down in the containment cells, but mum said that we’re going to go home soon. I’m not sure what home is, I always thought Dimension X was, not to mum tho, she’s always talked about going home. A place of comfort and freedom and no blood tests. It sounds nice but now I’m wondering if she’s just making it up for me, it sounds too unreal to be real, you know. But if it is real, I hope we’re able to take the turtles. They’re really fun, well I guess only 1 can actually do things, 2 is only now learning how to walk, and 3 & 4 are only a couple months old, so they mostly sleep or eat or cry. Theyre cute tho, like I could literally hold them in my hand, if I was allowed to. I’m not. The kraang are pretty strict on what we can or cannot do. And still 1 continues to escape and come see us, he’s great company and enjoys learning about ‘home’. And mum loves telling stories, she does sometimes get teary eyed tho, but 1 will provide comfort by curling next to mum and making a strange sound, it keeps him calm and it makes mum happy.
