Hii welcome back to “newbie rips hair out over writing TMA notes” I’m your eternal host and I’m dying here guys.

Haven’t watched episode 39: infestation yet cause i wrote my notes digitally and had this convention today but when doing this, I noticed some new stuff!!

1. In page Turner, Gerard keay showed up. He showed up earlier than I thought. Along with his mom who apparently was dead yall I did not pay attention. 💀 It’s interesting since in Old Passages, we got to see teenage him (still sporting the cheap hair dye) and he said his mom knows about all this stuff which is true since in page Turner, she was all over Jurgen Leitners books.

2. Sarah Baldwin!! I learned this through a mutual but I’m glad I could see some other details. I wonder how disappearing near Old Fisherman Close leads to you peeling off your skin and stapling it. She also was called a smoker and in Skintight, she smoked a ton.

3. In Do Not Open, the truck was called “Breekon and Hope deliveries” who, when reading the transcripts, are the two delivery men who delivered Jons shit in Old Passages. I don’t know if knowing their names was a spoiler (whoops) but they also delivered a pale yellow stole to Father Edwin in Desecrated Host! I was just scouring the transcripts trying to figure that out yall.

4. This is a mild theory but maybe the John in Do Not Open is the same John in Taken Ill??? They’re both named John and that’s all I got but eh

Anyways that’s everything. Might not listen to the next ep until tomorrow night cause man if I see one more mention of teeth or worms or bugs or meat, I will cry. Also it’s 12 am

I'm gonna go on a rant about season 1 of tma specifically ep 39 & 40, because I finished it and I'm emotional.

The prospect of notSasha scares me. Like I'm still in denial over it, but is anyone in the archive going to realize that something is wrong or is it going to be something similar to ep 3 where no one else seemed to remember Graham?

Also Gertrude! Because of ep 11 and 38 I imagined she died because of something supernatural, but you're trying to tell me someone just shot her?

These episodes gave me so much emotion when it came to the characters,

Jon, if you need a good therapist I can hook you up with one.

Martin, I have so many emotions when it comes to Martin. These episodes cemented him as my favorite. That's it I will protect him with my life.

Tim keeps making dumb jokes and I keep almost forgetting that he destroyed some sort of doorway Prentiss was making.

Sasha, I'm going to cry. She sounded so afraid, you're trying to tell me that happened to her in the place she used to work in before transferring. She was speaking into the tape recorder as if she was speaking to Jon.

Is he going to find it? Is she going to be alright? If not I want Tim to hit that thing from the table with a shovel at least a dozen times.

I keep trying to imagine the sound of the worms screaming as they died and I cannot even comprehend it.

Also the tunnels? There's got to be more to them. And why does the institute make the worms slower?

Oof so one thing to know is that in S2 the core plot of the podcast really kicks off but it never stops being an anthology. I struggle with S1 as well, personally.

A lot of S1 is setting up the world of TMA and almost everything mentioned will come back. However if you just need to get tf thru, here's my off the dome skip list.

Listen to:

MAG 1 & 2 for set up

MAG 4 & 11 for important character intros

MAG 22 to meet Martin, the most important character

MAG 32 to learn who Jane Prentiss is

Then the end of 38 to lead into the two part finale of 39 & 40.

My fave skippable episodes are 20, 21, 34 (HILARIOUS EP), and the scariest ep by far is 15.

okay but so true bestie 😭 13 is NOT the longest running doctor (counting eps) but yaz IS the longest running companion (counting series) im fine being a hypocrite about this

wait but. shes been there from 13's first until 13's last episode thats like. must be a record. at least in new who. like only rose did that and 9 only had one series. anyway even if it's not a record it still feels special <3 there hasnt been a companion doctor duo who was together the entire time in new who

yeah! so my source is tardis wiki:

(note the clara one is stories not episodes, so while yaz has been in 31 episodes that only counts as 25 (? if I counted right) stories, because spyfall 1&2 count as 1 and flux only counts as 1, which is bullshit)

so for calendar time yaz is the undisputed longest, and for modern companions she is the only one with 3 complete seasons (I believe clara would be the runner up here, 2.5 seasons)

In terms of calendar time counting for companions but not doctors, it somehow feels different? idk why, it just Is. vibes

I do believe yaz is the only companion (other than rose&nine) to be with the doctor from first to last episode, and even that is somehow different as we dont know how long 9 was alone between regenerating in the 50th and meeting rose, while yaz is certifiably there from just after one regeneration to just before the next

because thats the thing isnt it? river telling them "i asked for help for you" and the doctor going "THATS SO STUPID"

amy and rory setting out a place for them. "but you didnt know i was coming, why would you set me a place?" "because we always do"

the doctor disappears and you dont know if or when they'll ever be back but i dont know if they expect you to wait for them. so many people throughout time who have told them "i waited for you" and it never seems to sink in that they wait for them. that they miss them.

the doctor quietly removing themself from people's lives bc they only bring chaos and destruction anyway. it's better like this. theyre saving them by leaving.

clara going "i mean it's not like im never gonna see you again" "isnt it?" "is it?" "i thought thats what you wanted" "but youre gonna come around for dinner or something arent you? do you do that? come around peoples houses for dinner?" "of course" they lie because they dont "thought you mind find it boring"

maybe they do find it boring. or maybe thats an easier sentiment to express, an easier idea to grapple with, than the fact that there are people who care about them enough to spend time with them when nothing particularly exciting is happening, spend time with them just doing human maintenance things, when they dont need them. because theyre not necessary when there is no danger. theyre not needed, just wanted. because theyre not loved by the people who love them for being The Doctor, theyre loved for being the doctor.

so many people love and wait and miss the doctor and they don't get it! But then to contrast that with their mother, someone who is supposed to love you, and maybe even does in some weird twisted way, but never in a way that compares to the people the doctor finds themselves, is ugh. how do you do this. please keep making me sad with your videos
