My favorite thing about the TMA fandom is that when the cast names for TMP came out and it was revealed there is a character named “Gwendolyn Bouchard”, none of us came to the conclusion of a daughter or a wife of a sister. No. We all IMMEDIATLEY decided that Elias Bouchard, Man We All Heard Die, survived and, in the wake of the apocolypse, transed her gender. Amazing fanon amazing writing I applaud all of you

Gonna be honest I think some of you are putting WAY too much stress on the importance of tma characters/tma entities in your tmp theories.

Jonny has stated that not only will the story be completely understandable to ppl who haven’t listened to tma, but having knowledge of tma might actually make it harder to realise the truth than if you didn’t. To me, that implies that despite the mentions of ‘returning enemies and friends’ (including Jonny and Alex being VAs, implying jmart being involved) the world will be very different to the world of tma.

Jonny and Alex specifically said they’re excited to do new things with the worldbuilding. I highly doubt the entities will manifest/be grouped in the way we’re used to (the Smirke system) and I don’t think the characters we know will show up in the way we expect - I especially don’t think Jonah Magnus will possess anyone as a twist and then be the villain, or that Gwendolyn Bouchard will be a bad guy, that would be way too predictable considering what we’ve been told about tmp.

Point is, it’s still a sequel podcast and I’m sure aspects of tma - characters, entities, other worldbuilding - will be used throughout it, especially considering Celia and Gwendolyn Bouchard and the implications of various other characters appearing, but if you guys are this ready to assume tmp will be exactly like tma, I don’t think your theories will end up coming true. Think outside the box a little.

Anyways, do you have a particular favorite tma episode?:) just wanted to ask a question and I don't know what else to ask so-

Anyway, my favorite TMA episode is still MAG 2. Joshua Gillespie seems to have it the most handled out of everyone in this damn world.

Not a very profound thing to point out and probably something that’s been said before, but Karolina Górka from Underground though always tracking dirt, does not seem like an avatar. She is definitely marked by Choke after her experience on the Underground, but she lacks the obsession that all other avatars possess. I think of her similar in a sense to Leto from Like Ants, though he was actively trying it seems to become an avatar. They are both marked but not quite “enough” to be an evangelist for their related fears. Karolina in fact seems to hold no fear related to the Buried whatsoever, and I struggle to think of her being that great of a victim for that entity or any entity. I could very easily see her becoming an agent of the end if she ever encountered the means to. And to reference Like Ants again, had John and Martin found her somewhere deep underground in season 5 I’m sure the eye would make her an avatar of dirt and crushing screaming metal.

It strikes me as interesting that the buried seems to have the most amount of recorded escapes. While it is true that everyone in the magnus archives survives long enough to give a statement, many of these people subsequently die from the very things they were giving a statement about, rarely through other means. If they do survive they are haunted by these events and similar fears for the rest of their lives. But Karolina Górka and Joshua Gillespie both had close encounters with the Buried and were able to get themselves through it. I find it hard to believe Joshua would have lingering fears about something he “forgot was even there” except when it rained. And Karolina still takes the underground.

Not predators, but not good prey either. Leto doesn’t quite fit this as his own love and respect for ants made him especially good for a unique brand of torture, but Joshua and Karolina are both in this unique limbo state. And after encountering the same entity no less.

If I had a nickel for every time the first installation of a series ended with the main character, gay disaster, sacrificing themselves by fulfilling the prophecy they believe they were made for to stop a force infinitely more powerful than them, only for the next installation to VERY CLEARLY HAVE THEM INCLUDED just with their names completely blacked out, I’d have two nickels, APPARENTLY.

I know the odds of us getting information or even an appearance of Martin’s father in Protocol is very slim, but god it’d be such an interesting change for alternate universe Martin or even just another thing to explore.

I don’t know I just think it’s a fairly easy plot point to make make sense in the context and there’s so many interesting things you could do with it.
