I'm confused, durge. Do you like Solrook or Solavellan? Your post bashing Solavellans contradicts your recent reblogs defending them. What are your actual thoughts on these ships? Because I cannot tell.
alright i feel like this needs to be said here and now. buckle up because this is long, and probably the only time i will be commenting on this ever again.
i do not hate the solavellan ship. i have stated many times across all my socials that i used to be a hardcore solavellan shipper. i am IN LOVE with my lavellan. i literally started playing the dragon age series because i heard about the betrayal in solas' dai romance, and i am a sucker for angst. i played through dao and da2 just to romance him with my lavellan in dai.
when dav came out, first day of release, i set my world state up to be solavellan. i redeemed him and sent her off to the fade with him. point blank.
however, even before i started shipping dreadrook, i was wary of solavellan FANS. not the ship, the FANS. i am a solas lover to the ends of the earth and back. i can get behind ANY ships that involve him. what i cannot, and will not ever, get behind is the absolute infantilization of both solas and lavellan that many solavellan shippers i have interacted with engage in.
i had to leave and the solasmancers subreddit because they bashed the fuck out of epler for having SANE and NORMAL takes on solas' villainous behavior. because: YES. solas is a VILLAIN. he is an ANTAGONIST. and for some reason, most of the solavellans i was friends/mutuals and most other VOCAL solavellans i saw refused to admit as much.
they baby solas, they baby their self-insert lavellans, and they romanticize the ship without acknowledging the (imo delicious) potentials for a tragic, toxic, and morally-grey partnership. they whiddle solas down to this abused, kicked, drowing puppy that must be saved- nay, can only be saved by their adoring, kind, never-angry-always-understanding lavellans.
i also dislike immensely the way rook gets dragged through the mud, killed off, belittled, bullied, etc. by some (not all) solavellans who cannot handle solas having insane chemistry with another character. because the chemistry between dreadrook is insane.
i could drone on for hours my issues with the solavellan fans that twist and bend the relationship dynamic between the two, but i won't. it's been regurgitated by so many people so many times, and i would be adding nothing new to the conversation.
my canon lavellan romanced solas and moved on to cullen after the events of trespasser. my canon lavellan would never leave her life behind in southern thedas to follow solas into the fade for eternity, especially not after he killed varric. if your lavellan would do that, then kudos to you! really! i am so thankful many solavellans have a way to get their happy endings! i did it the one time for the novelty, and never will again.
but i can't stand solavellans who can't admit to themselves that their pairing is just as toxic as (if not more than) the dreadrook pairing, and i doubly cannot stand solavellans that baby the fuck out of the pairing. these are two grown (pixelated) adults. they are not infants. their relationship is built on lies and deceit (again, delicious dynamic to me!) and it heavily annoys me when people cannot admit that.
THIS IS ALL TO SAY: i do not hate ALL solavellans. my bestest mutuals and online friends are major solavellan shippers. i am a solavellan shipper. i just so happen to enjoy dreadrook a thousand times more, and therefore have my lavellan married to cullen in my canon world state while my rook and solas frolick off into the sunrise together.
tldr; it's a CERTAIN TYPE of solavellan FAN that i do not enjoy interacting with. i do not think ALL solavellan fans are like this. i KNOW they are not. it's just the ones that ARE happen to be the loudest in a room at any given time. that is all.

I realized something tonight: If Byler wasn't endgame,
Season 2 wouldn't. exist.
Not the way it does for Mike and El anyway. There is absolutely zero reason to separate them. None at all. We've been over this before: any event that does not change the outcome is cut. Do you know what that implies?
Mike and El's separation CHANGED THINGS.
When they get together at the Snow Ball, it is DIFFERENT than it would have been at the end of season 1. Otherwise, they would have cut it, nay, never written it in the first place. They would have EITHER gotten together as they did in season 3 in season 2 OR gotten together for the first time after the Snow Ball after two seasons of buildup together.
Not what actually happened. What actually happened is that Mike spent a year's worth of sentimental alone time with Will - especially in that last week - culminating in him telling Will that he is the best decision he's ever made, and it changed how he felt about El.
I cannot emphasize enough that the previous paragraph was a factual recounting of events. The plot tells us that he spent a lot of screentime with Will. The narrative structure tells us that it affected his relationship with El upon her return.
Their separation was not used to build up their relationship. It wasn't used to deteriorate it really either. It was simply a pause. It served no purpose towards their relationship as they were already together conditional to her being alive. To serve a purpose for them would imply there was something missing in the first place, which they could have done if they hadn't yet been together. They were separated and fighting to get back to where they were as of the end of season 1. Changing nothing. Moving forward 0 steps. Even the Snow Ball itself represents that in being his intended ending to season 1. They are picking up where they left off. After they resumed their "pause".
Her absence from his life implies that his relationship with Will as it was in season 2 could only have occurred if he was single, supported by it changing drastically and suddenly as soon as he isn't, and it states that his relationship with El WOULD have stayed the same if it weren't for Will.

Signifying Meaning in Tristamp’s Vash and Knives S1 Designs and Visual Cues: Part 1
TLDR: How Everything but Stamp’s dialogue supports it’s characters
With the release of Trigun Stargaze looming over our heads, I wanted to look back at the Season of Trigun Stampede and really commerarate the efforts of Orange on what I think, was clever character design.
As I am not an Orange employee, I have no idea if any of this is true or even intended, but creativity lies in speculation, and analysis is really fun for me so here we go.
(If you didn’t know, I started this back in early 2024, but got hit with life and my short attention span. Better late than never.)
Tristamp spoilers and potential 98/Max spoilers.
Millions Knives
Part 1 goes to my almost favourite twin to think about, naturally. That means the elusive and infamous Stampede Millions Knives. I’ll be looking through both the character designs as they change throughout the season, with the omission of Nai and Vash on the ship as kids, as the twins hadn’t really diverged on their separate paths here.
Ep.3: A coat of one million knives
This is where it all begins. Episode 3, the alien man in a chromium coat of a million knives.
Now, Knives’ coat holds a plethora of meanings. It’s his shield, it’s his weapon, it’s what separates from him and humanity. It’s his comfort, his safety, his very own butterfly cocoon.
I feel the shield/weapon meanings are quite straightforward: This coat is impenetrable. It’s also deadly. It’s what Millions Knives shows up with to cover his ass at Jeneora rock, despite his very clear god complex.
And in that way, we’re already given simultaneously very little, and a lot to work off of, mimicking a lot of his Stampede arc in general. We can’t see past the coat, Knives has already been introduced as a mystery, but that in itself, tells us he doesn’t want to be seen. Doesn't want to be touched by both the hands and minds of the humans he deems less than him.
Furthermore, this coat is how he separates himself, physically and visually, from humanity. Beyond simply shrouding himself in mystery, Knives’s coat is aesthetically foreign and alien. It is how he ‘others’ himself on his first appearance. He’s not a part of humanity and dismisses embracing it even slightly. He is a singular, isolated entity. A herder among a flock of wild sheep. An angel among men.
But not a God.
The shape of the coat resembling a blanket is not lost on me. Please take note of the bubble formations that are littered everywhere on it, mimicking bubble wrap.
So we have a coat that looks like a blanket (warmth, safety) and is textured closely to what we could perceive as bubble wrap (again, protection but also comfort), and considering the coat is an extension of himself, (I can even go as far to say that, it is quite literally made of himself), his mental state is manifested into the physical. He is a man (or, more accurately a plant) bubbled up, kept safe and warm in his own embrace, much like his mind is coddled, isolated and protected by only his own ideas. Someone stubbornly stuck in their own world, in their own head.
While his 98/Max iterations are not any less intimidating, Stampede Knives (in S1 anyway) takes a completely different visual direction because truthfully he is a different character.
Alas, there's one more thing we can relate his coat to.
Most importantly, Knives' coat is a cocoon. I believe this was confirmed by Orange themself, but nonetheless it’s the most logical connection we can make, because I can distinctly remember the theme of butterflies in another Trigun iteration.
It’s a great callback to the symbolism in 98, and extends the butterfly metaphor across the whole season. We’re seeing what comes before the butterfly, the cocoon, where the cocoon symbolises, not vulnerability but metamorphosis.
And I think in a Stampede season 1 context, this is a huge revelation.
Hold that metamorphosis thought though. Let’s keep going.
Ep. 9: Where Knives doesn’t know who he is either.
I struggled analysing Knives design as a teenager for a while. It contradicted a lot of the ideas and cues I picked up in his older design.
Until I realised that’s the point.
While Tristamp takes a different direction in constructing Knives as a character, I’d like to assume some significant Maximum events still will occur in some way for the purpose of this. In that way, this is the first time we see Knives as a child, sometime after the fall but significantly before the July incident, the midpoint between his initial strike against humanity and the event that would lead to his resurrection as the brand new Millions Knives.
That said, Knives design choice here actually communicates his mental state and the strength of his morals and values at this point so incredibly. He is, conflicted, at best. Scared, confused and too unsure of himself to confidently embrace his planthood, instead still wearing clothes like humans and a cape to cover himself, over his plant undersuit.
Teenage Knives’ design comes across a lot like an underdog, a heroic saviour from the shadows. This is where he establishes himself as Millions Knives, but doesn’t exactly dismiss the existence of Nai, the boy raised by a human, and ‘betrayed’ by a human, completely. Millions Knives exists as a name, but still holds no real meaning yet. He’s fear driven with no real goal at this stage, despite what he says…as usual. He is also still the Knives that hasn’t constructed an identity to distract him from his underlying trauma.
Spoiler for Max and Trigger Warning for Self Harm up ahead: In Max we are shown that Knives bites his nails to the point of bleeding after discovering his sister. While it’s purely speculation, the inclusion of a bandage around Knives right arm could allude to some self harm occurring behind the scenes. Knowing he works with Conrad at this stage though, it could also suggest an undergoing of various experiments or tests.
Ep. 11 - 12 : Something to desire, someone to lose, somewhere to belong

And here comes the truly terrible pinnacle of Knives arc in S1, one I’d almost rather forget entirely. But like unraveling an onion while crying through it, at this point we get to the core of his design.
Right off the bat with the metamorphosis theme! Knives in the finale, represents a freshly emerged butterfly. His design signifies the birth of a whole new form. (He did jump out of his cocoon shaped coat so).
Many of the basic design ideas from episode three can be repeated here. Knives rejects humanity completely, going so much as to not wear anything not fashioned from his own skin. Knives takes some superior pride in his planthood. Though fitting for his character, there’s a bit of circular logic in how this is presented to us.
Orange takes a really interesting approach by making his ideal physical image the height of human desirablity, something so conventionally perfect to human standards.
Now If you’ve dabbled in art history you know, the obsession with the ideal human form in highly religious, mythical contexts and political settings is not really hard to find in classical art. However one distinct group really stands out when analysing Knives whole, thing, and that’s the Ancient Greeks (and Romans, if I may add dear Lady Justice.)

Like most archaic societies, art was made as a tribute to gods, goddesses and heroes, this was naturally no different for Ancient Greece, particularly in sculpted works. My main idea turns to the aesthetic conventions of these sculptures, with idealistic realism of the athletic human form being the ultimate goal.
The Ancient Greek obsession with the human body and athletic skill was so prevalent during the Classical era, that athletes competed in the nude to essentially show off. Damn.
The artistic resemblance is something I find noteworthy, and if I’m being honest deeply appreciated as an art kid who loved theory more than the actual art-making, a lot.
And oh how well it works with this particularly narcissistic iteration of this character. While I’m not stupid, and aware that Orange could simply have made the decision to get some money out of reliable ‘ol fan service, it’s also not, completely out of character. It’s incredible funny how Knives finds a sense of safety in being different, and yet, he couldn’t fall any harder into the trap of conformity any harder if he tried. Finding his insecurities around his planthood in his childhood pretty easily, it makes sense why subconsciously he’d find pride, in not being human, but being human better than everyone else actually. I wouldn’t expect less from someone who renounces humanity while using quotes from checks notes the fucking BIBLE.
There’s a sadness to this idea as well. While I do think Knives finds some form of solace in being ‘perfect’, his objectification because of this decision almost feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Knives does becomes an idea, a dream, an exotic fantasy, for better or worse. In my opinion, this type of attention, is not something he’d want, but it makes me wonder, with his cult and all, how different from Vash he really is, simply masking the want to be admired, accepted, desired by humans with indifference and superiority.
P.S I also just like how this reference insinuates he’s so fucking dramatic and living life with a bizarre form of theatre kid main character syndrome ANYWHO-
It’s here we see even in his design, Knives starts to adopt the same human mentalities that triggered this existential flight or fight response of his to begin with.
What really supports this point for me, is the fact his design changes (or is ‘revealed’) after he makes the conscious choice to cut the rope of Vahs’s grappling hook, dropping him into the tank below. (Someone else please pick up on this umbilical cord symbolism, because i do not have the space to do it in this essay! Sublime level of detail.)
I’d like to first thank my bestie and much more knowledgeable beta reader @rainbowfoam for bringing this next point to my attention. There’s really a constant push and pull between this idea of rejection and subconscious embracing of humanity. The whole concept of his ‘nudity’ also could be tied back to the book of Genesis. Knives reverts to a state back before the forbidden fruit of knowledge was bitten. After all, Adam and Eve had not known shame before committing this sinful act.
So, Knives presents himself as this pure, unadulterated form, even if he has already had a bite of the apple, even if the knowledge of Tesla and humanity has injected him with shame and fear. He knows, but he wants to desperately go back to when he didn’t. When he was but a child under God’s gaze. This driving force to go back, and rewrite his story is an integral part of his character in S1.
Meaning and what can be associated with humanity in each brother’s eyes is actually incredibly important. Ya know, one of the obvious conflicts that drive Trigun!
Humanity to Vash means, change, a chance to grow. Humanity to Knives, means violence and betrayal and exploitation etc.
So when we see Knives reject human norms like human clothing to the best of his ability in Trigun Stampede Season 1, we are seeing a Knives that is still emotionally affected and steered by his childhood fears enough to consciously reject his perceived idea of humanity. We are seeing a Knives that is still consciously driven by his hatred for/fear of humanity more than his concern for his sisters.
And that fear for what he believes humanity stands for, unfortunately, is a part of him. It is a part of who he is after Tesla. Take that away…and you don’t have any semblance of Nai anymore.
So why I say having Knives in that silly ass plant marked under suit exclusively, was such an incredible design choice is because it shows that Knives is at a middle point in his arc where yes he’s crossed the line to controlling, abusive but he still closely holds the genuine childhood fears of Nai to motivate him. He still holds the hopes of Nai with him. To reiterate, he’s prepared to do anything to rewrite his childhood, to give the child within himself another chance.
But that never happens and the reality that he can’t go back and recreate the love he felt on Ship 5, is staring him in the face as he hurtles to his death. It’s why some of his last words to Vash in the finale were so significant. Not all of Nai died when he saw Tesla. Nai truly died at July.
To conclude, a lot of the themes in Tristamp revolve around the formation of identity in this post-fall landscape, and how each character changes so rapidly. Knives is no exception to the very messy and adolescent struggle of being shoved into adulthood while still desperately, irrationally clinging to the frayed ends of an unattainable childhood. I think if there’s one character really let down by his dialogue, it’s this guy. I’ve come to hope that that too, was furthering this idea of him holding an invisible wall between the audience and his true character. (Quite a lot implies that the Knives of this season is a big fucking fraud but idk.) In that regard I love dissecting Knives specifically, because I find this iteration particularly enigmatic.

2p Italy and 1p England would be besties. I can see they shit talking people and being a general menace/chaotic evil together. You can see it as ship if you want to, but I like to see it as platonic/found family. Two chaotic evil creatures bonding over the fact that they’re both menaces to society.

You know, since 2P!Italy goes into the 1P world first, he and 1P!England actually have a LOT of time to interact!
As my mind turns, I consider the following:
Arthur is definitely amused at first by "Feliciano" suddenly acting kind of different. They've never been particularly close, because Feliciano's... (gestures) er, joviality doesn't really settle well with Arthur. He'd appreciate the change of pace with 2P!Italy. Misery loves company, and 2P!Italy is nothing if not miserable.
Of course, it couldn't be too obvious: a fun part of the 2P!Takeover to me is that (with some poor actor exceptions hem hem PRUSSIA hem hem) it's hard to tell who has been taken over and who hasn't. Really fuels into the paranoia later.
In the beginning, I could see them being pals for sure. But I also consider both of them too closed-off and distrusting to really get close to one another. For the following reasons:
2P!England is sure to let each and every nation know that the 1Ps are, like, totally evil** and whatnot. So 2P!Italy isn't interested in getting too attached to "England's Evil Twin." (you see, of course, the joke is that, actually, Oliver is evil or something?) 2P!Italy regards everything that the 1P's do with quiet scrutiny... (except for 1P!Romano, of course, but that's for later.)
2P!Italy also isn't really excited on getting attached to someone who is going to cease to exist soon, overwritten by his ACTUAL Good Friend England. (Yeah, I imagine 2P!Italy and 2P!England are friends. And as we've seen, 2P!England is kind of jealous of his counterpart, and 2P!Italy knows not to get too close for that reason.)
On the other hand, while England initially takes "Feliciano's" changes in stride, that's only because he's the first. When it happens again, and again, and again-- and it finally occurs to the 1Ps that hey maybe something weird is happening? -- it quits being endearing and starts being frightening. So. Friendship over. Not that it ever truly began. For reasons not even related to the 2P!Takeover, he's just a grumpy old man with trust issues and a lot of self loathing. He didn't trust "Feliciano" when he was too nice, why would he trust him when he's getting a sudden mean streak?
TLDR: They could definitely be chaotic friends. In another universe, that friendship might even have some truth to it. But with the circumstances being what they are (2P!Italy is possessing Feliciano's body to help with a plan that will result in Arthur's eventual "death," and on some level Arthur is aware that something is wrong with "Feliciano,") the fun doesn't last long. A very interesting thought nonetheless, and a little bittersweet. Thank you Anon!

Why Buddie fans are “switching sides” (a silly little theory)
No one asked for this but I just want to share some thoughts I have based on some posts I’ve seen circulating in the 911 (specifically Buddie) fandom...
I think the reason so many people are glomming on to Tommy as a potential partner for Buck is that we’re seeing it as a real possibility. Not just a canonical possibility but a canonical possibility that has the potential of being good for Buck. Maybe for the first time.
For example, I personally liked Taylor as a character and kind of liked her with Buck (at times, until the end when I lost respect for her based on how she so easily chose her career over the man she supposedly loved), but I also knew that if Buck ended up with her permanently, I’d be sad for him because he deserved better than she was willing to grow. (The writers could have made Taylor a permanent love interest for Buck, but they would have messed up if they’d done that. His other girlfriends were also not written to be long term possibilities)
I like (nay, love) Eddie for Buck. They fit together so perfectly. They’re undeniably soul mates, even if only platonic.
And that brings me to Tommy. We don’t know Tommy yet. But from what we do know so far, I think he could be good for Buck in the same ways Eddie is, could match him toe to toe. And shipping them together right now is EASY. It’s EASY to root for two characters who are canonically into each other and treat each other well. So don’t blame us for leaning onto Buck and Tommy. It’s easy and comfortable and sometimes that’s why we engage in fandom.. for comfort.
If the show was doing something different with eddie’s story line, it would be easier for me to root for Buddie. But what they’re giving us right now is Eddie learning to love Marisol…
So I’m going to be over here, happy for Buck, and hoping for happiness for both Buck and Eddie.
I am not abandoning Buddie (guys, you can ship different couples at once lol it’s fiction it’s not that serious) but I’m not mad about Tommy as a possibility for Buck because it’s the first love interest he’s had so far who has treated him good from the beginning.
And I want the same for Eddie, btw. And if it’s Buck and Eddie endgame, I will be so unbelievably happy. But right now, with what we know, Buck and Tommy would be fine with me too!
TLDR: people ship Buck and Tommy because it’s easy and that’s okay so leave those shippers alone

Almost 3am trigun brianrot time! This is long so be prepared
Tldr: it's about my idea of trigun 98 being the body, stampede the mind and trimax the soul
Ok so I was thinking about how TF I'm gonna handle trimax for @vashsscoreboardofpain (follow that is gonna be funny) and then I remembered an idea for a master post I wanted to do. I still want to make it but sadly I'm not at a stable position rn to do so. Maybe one day. But I still wanted to put that idea cuz it's slowly taking more form
Now, when I mean X is Y I mean it in a "this version of trigun has everything yes, but highlights Y the most and I think that's neat." Also it applies for all the characters but tonight I'm gonna focus on vash cuz im a vash enjoyer first and a person second. Yes my favorite character is the main one sue me.
Anyway, let's go
Trigun 98 is the body and vash encapsulates this idea in an interesting way. Plant powers aren't really a thing in this version so he is more like a super human with a fucked up arm. This makes him the closes to humans he's ever gonna be. But even if he doesn't have powers on this one, it was his and knives' bodies the cause that one guy's fear (its 3am I don't remember). He's afraid of how fast they grow and how much they learn. 98 also highlights vash's body being like everyone else's. He gets hurt multiple times, he needs nurses and kind people to look after him. Not only during the eriks episode but also on the episode after he kills legato. He also shows vulnerability by getting so drunk he needs to really focus to aim. He needs food and water. 98 Vash is really the closest one to humanity than the other 2, but only because of his physical attributes. Only because of his body, which bring him trouble most of the time. His vulnerable body is the cause of his misery, but it also allowed him to get close to people
Stampede is the mind cuz yeah, they had a specific mind palace episode (which I loved I ate that shit right up) but also because it does give us an easier access to everyone's mental state. We get to see this vash speedrun so many psychological problems in 12 episodes and is not gonna slow down. We literally get to see the guilt and terrors that plague his mind and how his mental fortitude exists thanks to other people. Also if you notice it, people just diagnose him left and right on stampede. Roberto picks up the ED signs, most characters tell him he has a death wish, nai straight up tells him he's doing good things out of guilt and vash allows himself to think about his contradictions outloud in episode 12 and why does he do the things he does (something that would be a therapy exercise I wanna say). Stampede is the mind cuz everyone is getting retrospective
And finally, trimax is the soul because it has more time to dwell on the characters emotions than any other version will ever give us. Instead of straight up diagnosis, trimax will give us panels to show us how vash feels about a situation. Instead of showing vash hurt from the horrors done to his body, trimax will focus on his pain. On his eyes that refuse to look at his own terrifying body that we can see, but only he can feel. What I mean is trimax is designed to drown us with emotion. The other versions are emotional af too, but trimax has that raw emotion up its sleeve. Trimax does nor dwell on the multiple scars vash has or his many Many mental problems. It shows us how fucked up vash's thoughts are about his body and his sins and we get to say "ohhhh...oh no". Trimaxs emotion is so heavy to bear that the body nor the mind are still present, but in comparison to the soul, they aren't highlighted. People say eyes are the windows of the soul and honestly I feel like you can learn so much of vash just from looking at his eyes. Once you focus on his soul and emotions you just can't let go of the feeling that this man will be drowned by his own emotions. Both positive and negative.
I want to rewrite this one day. Fuck, I'm pretty sure I got the Google doc somewhere. But I also wanted to put that idea out there. Because this doesn't mean one version is better than the other. It means that they all highlight different parts but they all end up in the same conclusion: trigun is about connections and alienation and love and peace
And vash needing therapy. Desperately.

I didn't want to derail your very lovely post with something I understand is a personal choice and doesn't really matter, anyway, but I'm wondering while we're on the subject of you-don't-have-to-do-it-all, why are we taking on extra things that God never asked us to do—like not taking the word g-o-d in vain?
That's not God's name, that's a signifier that didn't even exist when the command was given. It's not the name we aren't allowed to say. It's like writing H@shem or the Al-ighty. It seems like a Christian influence.
this is a really good question and it pretty much boils down to not erasing His name. there are so, so many interpretations of everything in judaism, including how we address g-d in writing. the beautiful thing about this religion is that we can choose what resonates with us and not be judged for it. what it boils down to is not that we shouldnt write g-d's name, but rather that we should not deface or destroy it. if one of His names, rather than a signifier, is written out, then there is always a chance of it being erased. however if He's just alluded to then that problem is avoided. the same concept doesnt really apply to speech bc when you say something out loud it's there for good and there's no going bac
i no longer write out g-d and i use words like Hashem or Him as signifiers as a sign of respect because names have power. I only use the word ad-nai during prayer and i make sure that when i speak to g-d, rather than just about Him, i do so intentionally and with a proper focus.
there are also jews who write out g-d in full and those who switch between methods. those are absolutely valid ways of writing His name as well, but the "-" or Hashem would be the most common ways to refer to Him. what is not common is a religious jew writing out g-ds name or any signifier referring to g-d without some reason or forethought put into it no matter what format they choose. very rarely is it just put down on paper with zero reason.
also btw not taking g-ds name in vain is a honestly huge deal in judaism, but that's actually a completely different concept. the english translation really doesnt explain this concept very well imo, and it is absolutely hard to explain a very non-christian idea in a language influenced by Christianity. in short, not using g-ds name in vain is about avoiding cruel actions that desecrate his teachings. some examples would be using g-d's name and social influence to collect money that is claimed to be for donations but is actually for yourself, using your status as a leader (such as a rabbi) to abuse children, abusing your spouse, etc. g-d's name is a very powerful tool that holds so much meaning and using it for personal gain or to hurt others is what we as jews avoid.
i can sort of understand why this may seem like its influenced by Christianity. its not, the concepts of not taking His name in vain are totally different in those two religions, but these are very very difficult conversations to have in english. hebrew is genuinely the best language to discuss judaism in because it has words and phrases for concepts that just dont exist in English. sometimes close comparisons are all that's there and those can be extremely far off as well.
i dont usually do this but this is long as fuck so:
TLDR: a lot of jewish people use signifiers to refer to g-d so any words used to refer to Him cannot be erased. not taking the l-rd's name in vain is in regards to not using his influence to cause harm or for personal gain.

okay so i followed an old friend from a really long time ago on here and he still posts about this minecraft role play series that we became buddies over!! so he’s doing a challenge for october and everytime i see it i am reminded of the horrors
the horror in question: one of my biggest oc universes, something i’ve been writing for 6 years, is based off of this minecraft role play. but nay, not just the role play. a fan fiction. of the roleplay. where i inserted my own character into it 😭
and it snowballed into this elaborate, thought out project that is the nearest and dearest to my heart ever 😭 so much so that i eventually want to make it into its own webtoon series/animated show. like literally the reason i continued to pursue art and storytelling and i just think it’s so funny how my entire life was literally changed by a fucking minecraft role play from 2016

Oh look it's more Trigun random thoughts to share. You may classify this as whatever series or Modern AU you wish.
Once Retha joins the group, there are going to be visits to local churches. Despite how Retha cusses up a storm getting ready. Vash will find he is dragged along to Sunday morning church. Meryl gets to come along as well.
Cue all the old folks welcoming them into the church with smiles and getting them seats right up front. Retha turns out to know how to sing much to the surprise of everyone. She even takes notes during the sermon to look highly attentive as the old pastor speaks.
If Wolfwood is there with them, he is not allowed the chance to smoke in the church at all. But the benefit is how all the old ladies dote on him and Vash. Saying how handsome they are and that they are glad to see them. Some of the old men set up a card game outside after the sermon. Which Wolfwood and Retha join in as Vash gets to play with the kids. Meryl sits with the pastor to discuss random things.
If this is a Modern AU verse, Nai and Legato do have to attend holiday sermons whenever Retha is able to rope and hog tie them into going. Legit, she has actually hired Wolfwood and Vash to kidnap Nai to a Christmas sermon for Legato to come simply due to the 'ransom demands' Retha gives.
TLDR. Retha will drag everyone to church. It is inevitable.

I flip flop one this one all the time!
I love the raw crazed sexiness of it being a heat of the moment kind of thing. Maybe it’s after a difficult mission early on in their partnership and Nat refused a direct order from Clint or neglectfully put her life in a precarious situation and they’re having a heated argument when one of them snaps! It’s like two supernovas colliding into each other. Explosive. Hot. And fraught with tension. Objects are swept off surfaces with an arm, fabric tears beneath impatient fingers, buttons leap from their bodies and skip across the floor—
Oh yes! I do love the raw passion of a heat of the moment.
On the other hand…
I think Clint would be far more careful in his advances. He’s acutely aware of Natasha’s past, and as such is oh so cautious in tip-toeing around his blossoming affection. And really let’s be honest here: Sex doesn’t scare our Black Widow, but attachment, nay emotional weight, absolutely terrifies her. She knows, but perhaps doesn’t want to admit it, that when Clint turns down her misguided proposition that sex in any capacity with him isn’t just sex.
So you have these two people who are orbiting around each other, longing for a connection that is what they believe is so far out of their emotional depth that they’re forced to simply wait. Of course, it doesn’t stop them from reaching out to test the lines they’ve drawn in the sand between them. Much like a kid who is curious about the flickering flame of a candle, they’re dangerously tempted, only to flinch away from the heat.
They grow bolder with time, and comfort and soon cautious glances give way to long lingering looks. Her eyes stay fixed on his hands as he cleans his bow, which he definitely notices and repays her attention with crude phallic mimicry.
Yeah, that’s how I do it, with a twist over the top. Did you notice?
Oh, he’s very naughty, our Clint!
Natasha’s not one to take it laying down however and serves her revenge extra hot. She allows Clint to zip her up on the most elaborate dresses she can find, all with buttery soft fabrics that cling to her curves they way a fine wine stains lips. And Clint looks. Of course he looks! His eyes drip down the length of her spine. He doesn’t miss the tease of thin fragile lace, nor the color. She’s thorough, his partner, in her research. Not many people know that purple is his favorite color.
Of course this is all set up, the teasing, the back and forth. They’re testing each others resolves in the only way they know how until they finally (finally!) come to the conclusion that they will without out a doubt have sex.
But where? How? When?
Questions like these, and their answers are fertile ground for verbal and physical foreplay. It’s the first time not in the mechanics of sex, on what goes where and how, but in how to be vulnerable and raw with someone in a very sensual and caring way. Which is something that I find absolutely riveting when it comes to these two.
Which is why I’ve opted for this route for my fic Sightline!
I have a particular scene in mind where our beloved archer shows Natasha exactly what the difference is between fuckin and making love. I cannot wait to write it.
So, TLDR (because I’m a wordy bitch): they toyed with each other for a while, hinted around it, made up their minds and then proceeded to wreck the fuck out of a hotel room in Santa Monica. Best of both worlds!!

My one issue with the South Park post: see, most of South Park I don't find enjoyable, and I don't always agree with what it has to say. But I'm also going to advocate for the devil a little bit and say there are deadass times where South Park, particularly recently, has actual smart commentary to offer in the form of satire. Vivzie saying the show is inspired by South Park is laughable if only because every now and then South Park somewhat justifies it's existence with something to actually say, particularly as of late (I was startled by this tbh, it's even at the point where they're openly walking back some things said years ago that they no longer agree with).
Anyways TLDR South Park is a show with a character that's just a literal piece of shit and it's still better than either other show mentioned imo for that alone. It at least believes it has a reason to exist and things to say and acts on them. And then Matt and Tray won't even argue with you on Twitter when you say you didn't like it.

Let us not speak of them, but look, and pass.” And I, who looked again, beheld a banner, Which, whirling round, ran on so rapidly, That of all pause it seemed to me indignant; And after it there came so long a train Of people, that I ne’er would have believed That ever Death so many had undone. Inferno: Canto IV Broke the deep lethargy within my head A heavy thunder, so that I upstarted, Like to a person who by force is wakened; And round about I moved my rested eyes, Uprisen erect, and steadfastly I gazed, To recognise the place wherein I was. True is it, that upon the verge I found me Of the abysmal valley dolorous, That gathers thunder of infinite ululations. I cannot all of them pourtray in full, Because so drives me onward the long theme, That many times the word comes short of fact. Inferno: Canto V Thus I descended out of the first circle Down to the second, that less space begirds, And so much greater dole, that goads to wailing. There standeth Minos horribly, and snarls; Examines the transgressions at the entrance; Judges, and sends according as he girds him. I say, that when the spirit evil-born Cometh before him, wholly it confesses; And this discriminator of transgressions Seeth what place in Hell is meet for it; Girds himself with his tail as many times As grades he wishes it should be thrust down. Whereupon said I: “Master, who are those People, whom the black air so castigates?” “The first of those, of whom intelligence Thou fain wouldst have,” then said he unto me, “The empress was of many languages. To sensual vices she was so abandoned, That lustful she made licit in her law,
To remove the blame to which she had been led. She is Semiramis, of whom we read That she succeeded Ninus, and was his spouse; She held the land which now the Sultan rules. The next is she who killed herself for love,
And broke faith with the ashes of Sichaeus; Then Cleopatra the voluptuous.” Helen I saw, for whom so many ruthless Seasons revolved; and saw the great Achilles, Who at the last hour combated with Love. Paris I saw, Tristan; and more than a thousand Shades did he name and point out with his finger, Whom Love had separated from our life. After that I had listened to my Teacher, Naming the dames of eld and cavaliers, Pity prevailed, and I was nigh bewildered. And I began: “O Poet, willingly Speak would I to those two, who go together, And seem upon the wind to be so light.” And, he to me: “Thou’lt mark, when they shall be Nearer to us; and then do thou implore them By love which leadeth them, and they will come.” Soon as the wind in our direction sways them, My voice uplift I: “O ye weary souls! But tell me, at the time of those sweet sighs, By what and in what manner Love conceded, That you should know your dubious desires?” And she to me: “There is no greater sorrow
Than to be mindful of the happy time In misery, and that thy Teacher knows. But, if to recognise the earliest root Of love in us thou hast so great desire, I will do even as he who weeps and speaks. One day we reading were for our delight Of Launcelot, how Love did him enthral. Alone we were and without any fear. Full many a time our eyes together drew That reading, and drove the colour from our faces; But one point only was it that o’ercame us. Such as that dog is, who by barking craves, And quiet grows soon as his food he gnaws, For to devour it he but thinks and struggles, The like became those muzzles filth-begrimed
Of Cerberus the demon, who so thunders Over the souls that they would fain be deaf. We passed across the shadows, which subdues The heavy rain-storm, and we placed our feet Upon their vanity that person seems. Clerks those were who no hairy covering Have on the head, and Popes and Cardinals, In whom doth Avarice practise its excess.” And I: “My Master, among such as these I ought forsooth to recognise some few, Who were infected with these maladies.” And he to me: “Vain thought thou entertainest; The undiscerning life which made them sordid Now makes them unto all discernment dim. Forever shall they come to these two buttings; These from the sepulchre shall rise again With the fist closed, and these with tresses shorn. Ill giving and ill keeping the fair world Have ta’en from them, and placed them in this scuffle; Whate’er it be, no words adorn I for it. Near to a fount that boils, and pours itself Along a gully that runs out of it. The water was more sombre far than perse; And we, in company with the dusky waves, Made entrance downward by a path uncouth. A marsh it makes, which has the name of Styx, This tristful brooklet, when it has descended Down to the foot of the malign gray shores. And I, who stood intent upon beholding, Saw people mud-besprent in that lagoon, All of them naked and with angry look. They smote each other not alone with hands, But with the head and with the breast and feet, Tearing each other piecemeal with their teeth. Said the good Master:
“Son, thou now beholdest The souls of those whom anger overcame; And likewise I would have thee know for certain Beneath the water people are who sigh And make this water bubble at the surface, As the eye tells thee wheresoe’er it turns. Fixed in the mire they say, ‘We sullen were In the sweet air, which by the sun is gladdened, Bearing within ourselves the sluggish reek; Now we are sullen in this sable mire.’ This hymn do they keep gurgling in their throats, For with unbroken words they cannot say it.” Thus we went circling round the filthy fen A great arc ’twixt the dry bank and the swamp, With eyes turned unto those who gorge the mire; Unto the foot of a tower we came at last.
Inferno: Canto VIII I say, continuing, that long before We to the foot of that high tower had come, Our eyes went upward to the summit of it, By reason of two flamelets we saw placed there, And from afar another answer them, So far, that hardly could the eye attain it. And I to him: “With weeping and with wailing, Thou spirit maledict, do thou remain; For thee I know, though thou art all defiled.” Then stretched he both his hands unto the boat; Whereat my wary Master thrust him back,
Saying, “Away there with the other dogs!” Thereafter with his arms he clasped my neck; He kissed my face, and said: “Disdainful soul, Blessed be she who bore thee in her bosom. That was an arrogant person in the world; Goodness is none, that decks his memory; So likewise here his shade is furious. How many are esteemed great kings up there, Who here shall be like unto swine in mire, Leaving behind them horrible dispraises!” And I: “My Master, much should I be pleased, If I could see him soused into this broth, Before we issue forth out of the lake.” And he to me: “Ere unto thee the shore Reveal itself, thou shalt be satisfied; Such a desire ’tis meet thou shouldst enjoy.” A little after that, I saw such havoc Made of him by the people of the mire, That still I praise and thank my God for it. They all were shouting, “At Philippo Argenti!” And that exasperate spirit Florentine

The walls appeared to me to be of iron. All of their coverings uplifted were, And from them issued forth such dire laments, Sooth seemed they of the wretched and tormented. And I: “My Master, what are all those people Who, having sepulture within those tombs, Make themselves audible by doleful sighs?” And he to me: “Here are the Heresiarchs, With their disciples of all sects, and much More than thou thinkest laden are the tombs. Here like together with its like is buried; And more and less the monuments are heated.” And when he to the right had turned, we passed Between the torments and high parapets.

Inferno: Canto XI Upon the margin of a lofty bank Which great rocks broken in a circle made, We came upon a still more cruel throng; And there, by reason of the horrible Excess of stench the deep abyss throws out, We drew ourselves aside behind the cover Of a great tomb, whereon I saw a writing, Which said: “Pope Anastasius I hold, Whom out of the right way Photinus drew.” “Slow it behoveth our descent to be, So that the sense be first a little used To the sad blast, and then we shall not heed it.” The Master thus; and unto him I said, “Some compensation find, that the time pass not Idly;” and he: “Thou seest I think of that. Began he then to say, “are three small circles, From grade to grade, like those which thou art leaving. They all are full of spirits maledict; But that hereafter sight alone suffice thee, Hear how and wherefore they are in constraint. Of every malice that wins hate in Heaven, Injury is the end; and all such end Either by force or fraud afflicteth others. But because fraud is man’s peculiar vice, More it displeases God; and so stand lowest The fraudulent, and greater dole assails them. All the first circle of the Violent is; But since force may be used against three persons, In three rounds ’tis divided and constructed. To God, to ourselves, and to our neighbour can we Use force; I say on them and on their things,
As thou shalt hear with reason manifest. A death by violence, and painful wounds, Are to our neighbour given; and in his substance Ruin, and arson, and injurious levies; Whence homicides, and he who smites unjustly, Marauders, and freebooters, the first round Tormenteth all in companies diverse. Man may lay violent hands upon himself And his own goods; and therefore in the second Round must perforce without avail repent Whoever of your world deprives himself, Who games, and dissipates his property, And weepeth there, where he should jocund be. Violence can be done the Deity, In heart denying and blaspheming Him, And by disdaining Nature and her bounty. And for this reason doth the smallest round Seal with its signet Sodom and Cahors, And who, disdaining God, speaks from the heart. Fraud, wherewithal is every conscience stung, A man may practise upon him who trusts, And him who doth no confidence imburse. This latter mode, it would appear, dissevers Only the bond of love which Nature makes; Wherefore within the second circle nestle Hypocrisy, flattery, and who deals in magic, Falsification, theft, and simony, Panders, and barrators, and the like filth. By the other mode, forgotten is that love Which Nature makes, and what is after added,
From which there is a special faith engendered. Hence in the smallest circle, where the point is Of the Universe, upon which Dis is seated, Whoe’er betrays for ever is consumed.” And I: “My Master, clear enough proceeds Thy reasoning, and full well distinguishes This cavern and the people who possess it. But tell me, those within the fat lagoon, Whom the wind drives, and whom the rain doth beat, And who encounter with such bitter tongues, Wherefore are they inside of the red city Not punished, if God has them in his wrath, And if he has not, wherefore in such fashion?” And unto me he said: “Why wanders so Thine intellect from that which it is wont? Or, sooth, thy mind where is it elsewhere looking? Hast thou no recollection of those words
With which thine Ethics thoroughly discusses The dispositions three, that Heaven abides not,— Incontinence, and Malice, and insane Bestiality? and how Incontinence Less God offendeth, and less blame attracts? From these two, if thou bringest to thy mind Genesis at the beginning, it behoves Mankind to gain their life and to advance; And since the usurer takes another way, Nature herself and in her follower Disdains he, for elsewhere he puts his hope. But follow, now, as I would fain go on, For quivering are the Fishes on the horizon, And the Wain wholly over Caurus lies, And far beyond there we descend the crag.”

Inferno: Canto XV Now bears us onward one of the hard margins, And so the brooklet’s mist o’ershadows it, From fire it saves the water and the dikes. its interesting how in this tik tok the dynamics are completly different, usually tzu, jeong, mina (and dahyun) are portrayed as the "you were everything" line, while nayeon, (momo), Chaeyoung and sana are the "you were a wonderful experience"
I love seeing other dynamics of this because i think members like nayeon sana and chaeyoung can have crazy thoughts, but they are always portrayed as the ones that "dont really give a fuck" (?)

tbh I think it's been changing a lot recently!! I feel like there isn't as set of a dynamic between pairings as there once was before, and more hcs are consciously challenging those past dynamics the fandom used to always have (which I love!!)
obv I really love this too bc it does exactly that 🫂 I completely agree that it's nice to see the members usually perceived as indifferent (ie: sn, nay etc) given a more thoughtful role -- they're human, after all, and if we're gonna make fake hcs abt real ppl, we better do them justice 😭
since we all know of how their stereotypical dynamics go, there's an additional layer of depth when the roles are flipped that doesn't just stop at "now the ones who used to care don't care and the ones who didn't are holding on desperately"!

Beautiful! For the one word prompts
I'll be doing this for Themis Erasmia! From Themis' point of view. I wanna try something different. And for context, in case you may not know--my azem's transformation is a giant wolf--and that's a big part of her story. And relevant here
TLDR Erasmia was upset by something and turned into a giant wolf and ended up needing to get locked into Pandaemonium--and this is after

Things had been a bit awkward since Erasmia had returned home from Pandaemonium. Her usual antics had been reduced to none. No overly loud laughter or blunt remarks or clumsy flirtations with him. For now, she sat on his sofa with her legs pulled up and her arms resting on the armrest. Her head tilted towards the window, her bright red eye gazes out at something he cannot see. For a moment it closes, and he's sure she's getting sleepy--but she proves him wrong and opens it once again.
That bright red iris flickers over to him for only an instant before it returns to gazing out of the window. It scorches him to the core for the moment she looks at him. Her scarlet gaze is not only fire, but molten iron.
"What are you looking at me for?" Her eye remains in its place but she finally speaks.
"Would you like some water?" He offers her, instead of answering the question.
"I guess."
He gets up from his place on the sofa, on the other far end and goes to obtain a glass of water for his beloved. She has always been confusing to him. She is both an incredibly open book, and yet an inexplicably closed one at the same time. She has proven time and time again to be more mysterious and harder to know than any person he has met before her.
For the past few days since her return, he has worked hard to wait for her to open up. He doesn't want to press the issue. He won't be the first to make her talk about what brought about the wolf she worked so hard to hide.
He feels terribly guilty, though, and not for the reasons he should.
The memory of finally rushing to find her in Pandaemonium plays over and over in his head. By then, he had heard tale of the damage she was causing. He was expecting a rampaging Erasmia to snap at him with horrifying jaws and rake at his body with claws half his size.
And yet, she had somehow been tamed. That warder stood by her, hand in her fur, and a smile. And Themis hadn't been able to keep his eyes off of her. Still, in that state...
He found her terrifyingly beautiful.
She hadn't wanted him to approach. She seemed calmed when he entered, but the more steps he took closer, the more the warder had to work to keep her calm. Hushed words and assurances from the red-headed stranger were enough to finally let Themis close. He was hurt in that moment, but he came to understand later. She was afraid.
Not afraid of him, but herself. Scared she might hurt him. And when he finally got close enough, he was able to press his hands to her fur and rest his body along her snout. And they stayed like that for a time.
He wonders if he should have been scared, sometimes. But there was never a moment where he considered that she might hurt him. It simply would not cross his mind. Nay, he yearns for that moment once again. To feel her fur against him, to see the magnificent form she hides and understand her not in part, but in whole.
And before he knew it, she was no longer a wolf. A person again, with her arms grasping tightly at his body, tears falling from her eyes and pleads for forgiveness coming from her tongue. He thought she was beautiful then, too.
With his thumb he'd wiped her tears and pressed his lips to her forehead.
He takes this all as an indicator that he is truly, wholly, completely in love with her. He'd wondered when he'd realize if that was the case. He wasn't sure when someone is supposed to know or how he would know in the first place. He'd never loved someone before.
But his affection and adoration for her runs deeper than he could have ever imagined it would. That he would yearn for her in all forms, no matter the changes, that his heart calls for her in her lowest state--
"Themis?" Erasmia speaks up.
"Yes, my love?"
"Are you okay?" She's shooting him another irritated glare. He realizes he's been standing in the kitchen with an empty glass in his right hand, staring at her. Completely adrift in his thoughts. He can't help but laugh when he's brought back to reality.
"Yes, I am fine. I simply was lost in thought." He continues about the business of pouring her a glass of water. She doesn't thank him vocally when he brings it to her, simply dipping her head for half a second. That's enough. He knows what it means.
He leans down and presses a gentle kiss to her cheek, but is surprised to find she wants more than that. She brings a warm hand to his cheek and tilts her own face until their lips meet for a brief second.
It's short-lived, but it's a sweet kiss. She goes back to looking out of the window, and he returns to his place on the sofa.
He closes his eyes once more, and returns to the memory of the wolf again. He cannot help but think about how beautiful she is, in every way.
