#tldr i dont like wrongfully hard blocking people so this makes me feel better

Hey! Just got into your blog and love all your work <3 but I was going through your guidelines (which I predominantly agree with 💙) and I keep getting confused with soft blocking? Like what does it do yk? Obv blocking is like your fine bye bye no more page for you 💀 but what’s different with soft blocking?

I’ve been on this app for more than 3 years and I still don’t know 😭🙏 please help me 💀

ahh thank you so much nonnie, I'm glad you enjoy 🫶 don't worry, i've been here for a whole decade and have only understood for a few months 😭

soft blocking is blocking someone and then immediately unblocking them, which forces the soft blocked blog to unfollow you. personally, i do this with ageless blogs to keep potential minors from following me (both to avoid legal trouble and just bc it makes me uncomfortable personally) and to, hopefully, prompt anyone who may not have read my rules and regs to do that and be respectful of my space.

while it doesn't ultimately stop anyone from consuming my content, it keeps me off of their following page, provides a chance for anyone who truly did just make a mistake to rectify it, and it keeps my blocked and blacklist cleaner in case i fall behind in my admining.

i do have a functioning memory tho so like. keep coming back ageless and ya might get hard blocked. haven't had to deal with that yet and don't want to 🙇
