Most nights, when possible, Hyorinmaru and Toshiro sit together in a private space - elevated like a roof or mountain; depending on how much 'free time' they have - eating shaved ice together. Its a way for them both to TRY and relax/unwind from a VERY likely chaotic day.

They train together. It is also a non verbal approach for Hyorinmaru to show Toshiro that he is indeed worthy of his power if the Zanpakto spirit is willing to train with their master while manifested.

( Continued from Above ) Hyorinmaru also uses the training sessions to gauge Toshiros state of mind. The strength/durability, color and speed at which the ice solidifies during combat situations is a massive undeniable fact that something is distracting/bothering either/both of them.

Toshiro and Hyorinmaru don't have to verbally communicate with each other like most; their eyes are equally expressive and depending on the previous conversation topic Hyorinmaru witnessed it usually only takes a certain look to the other to accurately gauge what needs to be done. Which usually catches many off guard, that don't know them both well, when Hyorinmaru leaves a room without much/very conversation between Zanpakto and Master.
