Driver Profiles: Carlos Sainz
Hello, this is part of a series where I focus on one driver on the current (as of Oct 2024) grid and give an overview over their career and driving styles. I will be going in championship points order. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
Name: Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro
Age: 30
Nationality: Spanish
Years in F1: 9 ( Toro Rosso 2015- Oct 2017, Renault Oct 2017-2018, Mclaren 2019-2020, Ferrari 2021-Present)
Number: 55
WDCs: N/A
Driving Style: Sainz is most well known for his strategy more than anything. Regularly during races it is his suggestions on strat that are chosen, and most often they yield positive results. Beyond strategy, he has a calm and effective tire management and calculate decision making skills. All of this together leads to very intelligent driver, and allows him to be one of the smoothest drivers on the track. While he can be aggressive when needed, it is tempered by his patience (similar to teammate Charles Leclerc). The negatives about Sainz is that he tends to overthink in races. This is mostly due to his strategic and cautious way of racing, but it does not let him make split-second decisions very easily. He tends to not rely on his instinct very much.
History:
Sainz is the son of Rally World Champion Carlos Sainz Sr., and with his fathers racing fame came pressure at a young age. Sainz started his career in karting in 2006, after participating in smaller series in Spain. In 2008, he won the Asia-Pacific KF3 title, as well as finishing runner-up in the Spanish Championship In 2009, he also won the Junior Monaco Kart Cup, and was runner-up in the European KF3 Championship. In 2010 at age 16 Sainz raced in Formula BMW, and was added to the Red Bull Junior Program. He finished his season in Formula BMW in 4th place.

During 2012, Sainz raced in both the Euro Series and British F3 Championships. He did well in both series, gaining multiple pole positions and podiums, but did not get particularly close to winning the championships.
Tumblr media
In 2013 Sainz signed with a GP3 team to compete in that years championship. He was a midfielder during this time, and his highest finish was P7. He then competed in Formula Renault 3.5 the same year, and had a difficult year there as well.
In 2015 Sainz was brought up to Formula 1 to drive for Toro Rosso, Red Bull's junior team, opposite Max Verstappen. His time with Toro Rosso was difficult for Sainz, regularly experiencing mechanical problems and crashes. His first season with them he would find himself 15th in the championship. 2016 would see Sainz get his best career finish of P6, but still is counted as a rather negative year for the Spainard. 2017 was Sainz's best year with Toro Rosso, finishing at the Singapore GP in 4th place. Shortly before this race it was announced Sainz would be on loan to Renualt for the last 4 races and the 2018 season. Sainz stated it was unlikely he would return to Toro Ross. He never did.

The 2018 season with Renault saw Sainz have significantly more positive results. He qualified in the top ten for the beginning races, and finished in the points for all but one. For the next races, he would consistently score points. however, this was not enough for Renault and he was replace by Daniel Riccardo for the 2019 season. Happily for Sainz, he was able to sign a contract with Mclaren to replace his one with Renault.
Tumblr media

The 2019 season and his first year with Mclaren saw Sainz achieve even better results. While his first three races were unfortunate, after he consistently scored high points right behind the top 3 teams and finished above his teammate, Lando Norris. He would go on to get his maiden podium at the Brazilian GP after Lewis Hamilton received a post race time penalty. Unfortunately the rest of the season was rather negative for Sainz, encountering engine problems, pit problems, and other things that made him DNF multiple races. 2020 was a more positive year, which saw him achieve more podiums and finish 6th in the championship.
Tumblr media

In 2021 Sainz joined Ferrari opposite Charles Leclerc, by the far the most successful team he has been a part of. While he had some issues during the year, he also had a majority of his highest results, finishing the season in fifth and ahead of his teammate. 2022 saw his maiden win at the British GP. Won in a difficult rain race, he showed that he had the chops to keep up with his Championship battling teammate, and had a variety of positive results that year. He ended in fifth in the championship that year, this time behind his teammate. 2023 was a rough year for every team but Red Bull, however Sainz was the only non-Redbull winner that year at the Singapore GP, which was a mark of honor that year.
Tumblr media
(Sainz after securing maiden win)
This season Sainz has shown to be an impressive driver and teammate, regularly getting on the podium and winning the Australian GP. While he is behind is teammate in points, he has had a strong year and is on the table to be one of the multi race winners this year.

Major Races:
2019 Brazilian GP - Sainz first podium finish, he achieved it after Lewis Hamilton received a time penalty post race. Regardless, he has a strong race and was able to compete with top teams ina. midfield car.
2020 Italian GP - Driving withe Mclaren, he achieved a P2 finish, his highest at the time. Again, we see Sainz has a talent for pulling the maximum out of his car.
2021 Monaco GP - His first podium with Ferrari, the Monaco GP is a prestigious and difficult race. On top of that, it is an early race, and displayed how fast Sainz adapted to the Ferrari car.
2022 British GP - His first win, this race was a wet one which saw multiple DNF's from other drivers. His skill in wet weather allowed him to battle with top drivers like Hamilton and take the win.
2023 Singapore GP - As the only non-Red Bull winner that year, this race result will always show how strong his race craft is. Whiel he held the lead for most of the race, a late safety car threatened his position. In a spur of genius he used Mclaren driver Lando Norris as a buffer to the attacking cars behind, keeping Norris within DRS range but not allowing him by. By far the most impressive use of DRS I have seen from a front car.
2024 Australian GP - Shortly after his appendix surgery, Sainz won through pure race skill, and got Ferrari there first 1-2 of the season, giving them a major lead in the championships.
2024 Monza GP - While Sainz did not even finish on the podium for this race, he acted as a perfect teammate while letting Charles Leclerc (who had the faster pace) by and helping defend his teammate against attacking cars. He ended in a strong 4th.
That's all for Sainz. Up next is Lewis Hamilton (which will be a long one)
Cheers!

Fake fic title: "Elegant Rebel"
Oh that one is quite hard cause it's a bit vague but I got it :
Elegant Rebel
Landoscar | 5k | Fashion industry AU
Oscar has rent to pay, only two packets of instant noodles in his cupboard, a notice of dismissal from his student job and a university loan to repay. So when a fashion mogul, the great editor-in-chief Lewis Hamilton, spots him in a cafe and tells him that he is the ideal model for his next campaign, he is forced to accept so that he can eat something other than noodles. and the stale pastries that Logan sneaks to him. “You don’t look in your element, mate,” the photographer teases. If Oscar is honest, he should be the one in front of the camera, with those ocean eyes that change color under the different spotlights. “You should relax, it will be easier, I know not everyone is comfortable in a sheer chiffon shirt, but you look very handsome.” And Oscar can't help but blush and stutter a vague thank you. He absolutely does not accept any more modeling jobs to see this photographer again.
Where is the Rebel ? That's the theme of the first photoshoot : Elegant Rebel.

A volume from Hamilton's library, possibly signed by two of his sons
Hamilton had a large library and interest in several different types of books. His fascinating collection was said to have contained books in French, and different genres like philosophy, law, trading, and politics. Unfortunately, through inheritance and time the collection has been divided between several people and families most of it is lost to this day. But a particular interesting find is one of Hamilton's old books, Lex mercatoria rediviva; or, A Complete Code of Commercial Law: Being a General Guide to All Men in Business, by Wyndham Beawes.
Tumblr media
With an account of our mercantile companies, our colonies and factories abroad, our commercial treaties with foreign powers, the duty of consuls, and of the laws concerning aliens, naturalization and denization: to which is added, a sketch of the present state of the commerce of the whole world, describing the manufactures and products of each particular nation, with tables of correspondence, and agreement of their respective coins, weights and measures.
The books is Volume 1, (241 x 152 mm), and is also the sixth edition. It lacks all preliminaries before advertisement leaf (including title-page), and all after S1 at end, there is dampstaining and light browning throughout it. Contemporary calf, smooth spine, morocco label, blind-stamped letter “H” for “Hamilton” to center; worn with losses to spine and corners, spine and text-block split down the center, hinges reinforced with cloth tape. Half blue morocco slipcase, chemise.
It's no surprise as to why such a book would be found in Hamilton's collection, commerce was rooted throughout Hamilton's childhood. At the young age of eight, in 1765, Hamilton would be a clerk for his mother's shop in Christiansted, St. Croix. After his mother's death in 1768, Hamilton soon found work in Christansted at the trade firm of Beekman and Cruger, who were both New York merchants. In an exceeding pace, he rose from clerk to manager, keeping the firm's books, dealing with ship captains, planters, merchants, Customers and suppliers, and buying and selling profitably on behalf of his employers. It was perhaps at Beekman and Cruger's that Hamilton first found Beawes's book on British commercial law.
In any case, Hamilton had definitely found the book in his hand during his college days at King's college. The book is quoted in his well-known pamphlet Farmer Refuted, in 1775;
“I shall sum up my whole remarks (says another writer) on our American colonies, with this observation, that, as they are a certain annual revenue of several millions sterling to their mother country, they ought carefully to be protected, duly encouraged, and every opportunity, that presents, improved for their increment and advantage; as every one, they can possibly reap, must at last return to us, with interest.”
Source — The Farmer Refuted, [February 23, 1775]
And later on in 1781, Hamilton asked Pickering for a copy of Lex mercatoria which he needed in order to compose an important letter to Robert Morris regarding the restoration of the colonies' credit and credibility in the eyes of foreign nations;
Let me know the result of your examination whether you can appoint a barrak Master to the French army; if you can, the General wishes you to appoint Col Champlin without delay. Have you the tract written by Price in which he estimates the specie & current cash of Great Britain? Have you Humes Essay’s, Lex Mercatoria or Postlethwait? Any of these books you may have, you will singularly oblige me by the loan of them. Be so good as to forward the inclosed by the first opportunity.
Source — Alexander Hamilton to Timothy Pickering, [April 20, 1781]
Later on Hamilton must have purchased another edition, as this particular copy was sold by H. and P. Rice, No. 50, Market-Street, Philadelphia, in 1795. And then signed his name in the Content's passage;
Tumblr media
What is most interesting about this book though is the two signatures on the back possibly signed by Hamilton's eldest and youngest sons, Philip Hamilton, and “Little Phil”.
Tumblr media
Philip seems to have taken a considerable interest in literature and there are many mentions of him lending or reading books. Philip graduated from his father's alma mater, King's College, in 1800 and immediately embarked upon a regimental reading of the law laid out by Hamilton. The books contains subjects and insight of law, which is likely why Hamilton might have passed it down to his son. But in 1802, challenged to a duel after an argument and scuffle that involved disparaging remarks about his father's political party, Philip was fatally wounded at Paulus Hook. Later that year, Eliza gave birth to their youngest son, who was named after his deceased brother. And might have taken up his volume of Lex mercatoria as well.
There have been more of Hamilton's old books found with his children's signatures inside of them. Another case being a book located in Columbia College (Formerly known as King's college) with Philip's and Hamilton's fourth son's signature, James Alexander Hamilton's. Although it has been argued that these “Philip signatures” could be Hamilton's great-grandchildren's, rather than his children's. As James did have a grandson named Philip and could have given the book to him instead of it originally belonging to his eldest brother;
In addition, it is interesting to note that Alexander Hamilton's son James—who was born and lived in New York, later returning and becoming an attorney like his father—was married to a daughter (Mary) of Robert Morris, whose inscription appears opposite the title page of a book of a different kind owned and autographed by Alexander Hamilton. Morris comments there that this book was given to him by Alexander in place of one that Morris had loaned to Alexander, who mislaid it. But the book in question is not in itself of direct interest here.
Although certain other books bearing Alexander Hamilton's signature of ownership are not of direct interest here, one of them is also autographed by Philip Hamilton. Philip was the name of Alexander Hamilton's oldest son (killed in an 1801 duel) as well as the name of the grandson of Alexander's third son, James, cited above. Since Alexander's son Philip (b. 1782) was nearly 20 when killed prior to his father's death, it is likely that he, like his younger brother James, inscribed his name in such books, even before their father's death in 1804, that is, in books that Alexander possessed and gave to his sons and that like others remained in Alexander's family orbit for him to see. Or, the book in question could have been acquired by Alexander's son James and later handed down to James' grandson Philip, although in that case one might have expected James to be an autographer as well, which he was not.
Source — Origins of Legislative Sovereignty and the Legislative State, Volume 6, by A. London Fell
Which could be an argument here, but there is no indication this particular book was passed down to anymore children after Phil signed his name.
When comparing the similarities of the signatures with the signatures seen from the brothers in their letters, it is safe to assume the signature on the left page is Phil II's, and the one on the right is Philip's. As Philip seems to have often merely left his first name signed off as nothing but a “P”, usually taking on an “O” shape. While Phil seems to have preferred writing out his full name.
Little Phil's signatures;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Philip's signatures;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Although it is debatable, as Sotheby's disagrees and claims Philip's signature is on the front free endpaper—while Phil's signature is on the front pastedown.

Navigating the Market: A Comprehensive Guide to Used Car Dealers
Tumblr media
Buying a used car can be an exhilarating experience, but it also requires careful consideration and research. One of the most crucial steps in this process is choosing the right used car dealer. With numerous dealerships vying for your attention, how do you ensure you're making a smart choice?
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about used car dealers Hamilton, from what to look for to how to get the best deal.
1. Understanding Used Car Dealers
Used car dealers are businesses that specialise in selling pre-owned vehicles. These dealers can range from large, branded dealerships with extensive inventories to smaller, independent lots. They offer a variety of makes and models, often providing a range of price points to suit different budgets.
Key Types of Used Car Dealers:
Franchised Dealerships: These are affiliated with specific car manufacturers and often have certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles. CPO cars typically come with extended warranties and have undergone rigorous inspections.
Independent Dealers: These dealers are not tied to any specific manufacturer. They may offer a broader range of brands and often have more competitive pricing.
Online Dealers: With the rise of e-commerce, online platforms now offer used cars with the convenience of browsing and purchasing from home. These dealers may offer delivery services and virtual inspections.
2. What to Look For in a Used Car Dealer
Choosing the right used car dealer involves evaluating several factors:
Reputation and Reviews: Research the dealer’s reputation by reading customer reviews. Look for feedback on the dealer’s customer service, vehicle quality, and overall buying experience.
Inventory Selection: A diverse inventory is a good sign that a dealer has access to various makes and models. Check if they have the type of vehicle you’re interested in and whether they offer recent models with low mileage.
Certification and Warranty: Consider whether the dealer offers certified pre-owned vehicles. CPO cars come with warranties and have been thoroughly inspected, offering additional peace of mind. Also, inquire about any dealer-specific warranties or service plans.
Pricing and Transparency: A reputable dealer will offer clear, upfront pricing without hidden fees. Compare prices with other dealers and research the fair market value of the vehicles you’re interested in.
Customer Service: The quality of customer service can make a significant difference in your buying experience. A good dealer should be responsive, willing to answer your questions and provide all necessary documentation.
3. The Buying Process
Vehicle History Report: Before purchasing, obtain a vehicle history report using the car’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number). This report will provide information about the car’s past, including any accidents, title issues, or odometer discrepancies.
Inspection and Test Drive: Always have the used car dealers Hamilton inspected by a trusted mechanic and take it for a test drive. This will help you assess the car’s condition and ensure it meets your expectations.
Negotiation: Don’t be afraid to negotiate the price. Use information from your research and the vehicle’s condition to support your offer. Many dealers are willing to negotiate, especially if you’re well-informed.
Financing Options: Explore financing options offered by the dealer, including loan terms and interest rates. It’s also wise to get pre-approved for a loan from a bank or credit union to compare rates and ensure you’re getting the best deal.
4. After the Purchase
Review the Paperwork: Thoroughly review all paperwork before finalising the purchase. Ensure that all terms are as agreed upon and that there are no unexpected fees.
Follow-Up Service: Check if the dealer offers any post-purchase services, such as free maintenance or a satisfaction guarantee. Establishing a good relationship with the dealer can also be beneficial for future needs.
Vehicle Maintenance: Once you’ve bought your used car, follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule to keep it in optimal condition. Regular servicing will help you avoid potential issues and extend the vehicle’s lifespan.
Final Words
Selecting the right used car dealer can significantly impact your buying experience and the quality of your vehicle. By researching used car dealers Hamilton, understanding what to look for, and following a thorough buying process, you can make a well-informed decision and drive away with confidence. "RUSSELL CASE IS UNDER WAY NOW," Hamilton Spectator. March 17, 1913. Page 14. ---- Brooklyn Pastor Examined By Defendant's Lawyer ---- Man Who Broke Into Freight Got Three Years ---- Weiler Stole Overcoat From Radial Conductor ---- The action in which Pastor Charles T. Russell, of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, charges Rev, J. J. Ross, of the James street Baptist church, with having published a slanderous pamphlet about him, was resumed to-day before Police Magistrate Jeifs, after many adjournments. The examination of the complainant by George Lynch-Staunton, K.C., counsel for Mr. Ross, going on when court adjourned for luncheon, Mr. Staunton said it would take another two hours to complete the examination. Pastor Russell refused to take the oath on the Bible but swore by raising his right hand to tell the truth.
He admitted being in a gents' furnishing business in Allegheny, Pa., at one time and continued it for about ten years. Before quitting he established the Watch Tower. He attended the ordinary public schools for about seven years and was read in Latin terms to a certain extent, but never took a term in theology philosophy. He had never been ordained by a bishop or minister. Asked the definition of a religious fakir he said it was one who shammed religion. He did not think that he had conferred on himself the title of pastor
He admitted that Marian Ackley. whom he married in 1859, got a legal separation from him, but did not геmember that alimony was mentioned in an action she brought in 1906, When the lawyer asked the witness if during the trial his wife accused him of having improper relations with other women, Russell's counsel, S. F. Washington, K.C, took objection, and the magistrate said witness could answer in his own way. Russeli said his wife said something about seeing him with other women in his house, but it was not true. Mr Staunton read extracts from the evidence, which Russell admitted had been given. The woman, with whom he was charged with having intimate relations, was married now and resided in Australia. He admitted that the judge found on the evidence that he had been cruel to his wife. Witness admitted she was getting alimony from him and that he left the state of Pennsylvania after the judgment. He said the Watch Tower society owned timber lands, buildings and farms throughout the states. He denied that he had a monopoly of the society, also that the money was handed over to the United States Investment association. He admitted that he got nothing out of one action for slander against the Washington Post, but that after the paper settled another suit for $15,000. He was also questioned about the Brooklyn Eagle suit and the miracle wheat, some of which he admitted had been sold for a dollar a pound.
STOLE OVERCOAT John Weller, Sherman avenue north, appeared before his worship this morning charged with the theft of an overcoat, the property of Thomas Freeman, a conductor on the Hamilton Radial Electric Railway, and was found guilty, but remanded for a few days, until enquiries are made about him. The complainant said he was a conductor on an Oakville car, and while in the Terminal Yards, waiting for orders, he hung his overcoat on a hat rack in the car from where it disappeared. The only defense offered by Weiler was that he was drunk.
CASE DISMISSED Percy Springstead, 82 Wilson street, answered to a charge of theft made by Hugh McGregor. The evidence showed that the two men were carpenters and when working together, McGregor borrowed a plane from the accused, and when it was not turned in proper shape, got a bit, the property of the complainant. He intended to keep this article until his plane was returned to him in the same shape as he loaned it. The magistrate dismissed the case, saying there was no evidence of theft.
MINORS BARRED Nathan Kault, a James street north pool room proprietor, charged with allowing minors to enter his place of business and being found guilty, was assessed a fine of $10
GOT THREE YEARS Lafayette Reed, [pictured above] the young man who appeared on Saturday and was found guilty of the theft of a number of articles from the T.. H and R Railway company, appeared this morning for sentence, and received a term of three years. In sentencing him the cadi said he would have a good opportunity to learn a trade while confined, and advised him to take advantage of it.
SLOW TO ANSWER. Waiter Hanley, John street north, an Indian lister, was remanded for a few days. When asked where he purchased his beverage he was undecided for a time whether to tell or not, and before he made up his mind the magistrate ordered the case to be laid over. Hanley said he procured the booze from Mullin's hotel case.
NO EVIDENCE Terrance Scott, Main street west, answered to a charge of assault and theft of three rings from Margaret O'Keefe, and his wife,Nellie, appeared charged with stealing an overcoat from the same complainant. When Mrs. O'Keefe took the stand to give evidence, Terry commenced to question her on various subjects, and between the replies received and the questions asked the backbenchers had plenty of comedy. From the evidence submitted, the court dismissed the case. When the parties concerned were leaving the room, his worship was overheard to say: "There is a case for the clergyman of this city to look into, they should take hold of that woman and reform her."
ACTION FAILED. The Hamilton Cotton company was defendant in a wage case. Fred Forbes, the complainant, said he was entitled to $14.04 for services rendered, but on the evidence sworn to by a representative of the company, the court thought differently, and so dismissed the charge.
[Reed or Reed was 19, from Rodney, Ontario, with no previous criminal record, and was formerly a farmer. He was convict #F-567 and worked in a shoe shop at Kingston Penitentiary. He was reported July 1913 for a serious charge and put into solitary for a week, in August he spent another week in solitary on a similar charge, and in September he was reported twice, losing a week's remission and spending 9 meals on bread and water. In 1914 he moved to the stone pile, and was only put back in fall 1914 at a 'trade'. In 1915 he lost remission on two separate occasions for minor offences. He was released in January 1916. And yes, in the first case mentioned, the Russell in the slander case is the founder of the Bible Student movement, a fraction of which became the Jehovah's Witnesses.]

Consider what an AZ pawn shop can do for you
The holiday season is not that far away with all its extra costs.  After COVID-19 kept us home last season this year’s celebrations could be larger than usual.  How is your budget going to deal with it?  This is when to think about what an AZ pawn shop such as AZ Jewelry and Loan can do for you.
Take a careful look around your home.  Everything you own is worth money and can be used to secure a loan.  The problem is that banks don’t make loans based on the smaller items you own.  Pawn shops do.  You don’t sell your valuables to a pawn shop, you only use them as security against a loan in order to get some instant cash.  Within a matter of months you pay off the loan and your belongings are returned to you.  Millions of people do this every year.
What to Pawn
Many times the first things to come to mind are jewelry, including watches.  Gold, silver, and platinum jewelry with or without gemstones are favorites.  Rings, earrings, pendants, and chains can all be used.  Fine jewelry by Tiffany, Cartier or Graff can allow you to secure a good loan.  Watches by Omega, Breitling, or Hamilton are also excellent choices.  Women can even use designer handbags such as those by Prada, Gucci, or Chanel as loan security.
Think about all those items you dust weekly.  Collectables and antiques can be easily pawned.  Antique toys or picture frames, war or election memorabilia that are in good condition can secure a loan at a pawn shop.  Unique items always bring top dollar.  If you think an item has value bring it in for an appraisal and let us decide.
AZ Jewelry and Loan also gives loans on cars and motorcycles.  Sometimes a title or registration loan can be set up which will allow you to continue using the vehicle while you have a loan on it.
More About Pawn Loans
Our main business at AZ Jewelry and Loan is providing money loans based on the value of the items you wish to pawn.  You do not need to worry about your credit score because we will never look.  There is no need for a savings account either.  The loan is based solely on the value of the items you provide.  We pride ourselves in giving honest prices to any item someone brings in to pawn.
You will get cash quickly.  Then you will start paying back the loan month by month.  Once you have completed all payments you will receive your items back.  Because we value our customers we care for your pawned item carefully, storing them in a safe on our premises.  If you find that you are going to need more time to pay back the loan we will work with you.  We really do not want to have to sell your belongings.
Because pawning is not selling off stolen goods you will be required to provide information about yourself and the items you bring in.  Some of the information will be provided to law enforcement to check against stolen item logs.  Good pawn shops pride themselves in being ethical and only working by the law.  Interestingly, the pawn industry is one of the most heavily regulated providers of consumer financial services.
Remember that AZ pawn shops such as AZ Jewelry and Loan are here to serve you.  Pawn shops are no longer seedy, dingy, cramped stores down back alleys.  You will be delighted to see our wonderful clean store with bright lights and pleasant displays of items we are selling.  Our A+ rating with the BBB is probably unexpected but it is very important to us.  You may be surprised by the customer service you receive and will always feel comfortable while in our store.  We are a modern, reputable business like any other.
