Ok frens, I have some thoughts regarding episode 77 (latest free ep) so obvious spoilers ahead

Also, this isint me hopping on the Annabel hate train, I love her to the end of time, and I want to see her character be as morally grey as possible because that’s what makes her that much more compelling;

So a lot of people think that the wallening happened because Monty Will and Ada originally wanted to put Lenore in the wall first, but then Annabel stepped in and volunteered Duke (it coudnt have been anyone else) instead to protect Lenore. That in itself is very interesting but what I would find way more intriguing is if it really was Annabel’s plan all along…

Putting lenore in a wall benefits no one, monty likes toying with her and torturing her, so getting rid of her this early on would kinda ruin his fun, I still feel like deep down, ada still really likes lenore and the Annabel wouldn’t volunteer her for obvious reasons.

So then why put duke in the wall in the first place? Well as shitty as it sounds, duke disappearance benefits Monty and Annabel the most, Monty gets his room to himself and gets to get rid of Lenore right hand man, essentially being a way to torment Lenore, and Annabel gets to get rid of Lenore’s main distraction, since Lenore is messing up Annabel’s plan to protect her friends (she could also be a lil jealous of duke getting all her attention as well)

I also find the crime to be wayyyy too specific and complexe for it to have been purely Monty will and Adas idea, Annabel is a strategist after all, and it’s kinda the perfect plan to get rid of someone in these circumstances. If duke dies, he’s in a fuckin wall with no chance to escape, and dying in Nevermore means you get orbed. Assuming your orbed soul spawns where your body was when you died, dukes orb would be stuck in the wall with no way out and no way to be found. It’s litteraly impossible to find duke. If Annabel didint have anything to do with the original plan, I think Monty and co woudve just killed him and buried him somewhere, but that woudve left a trail that could be easily traced, and hi orb could’ve been free.

The question remains, are we really gonna hate Annabel for doing what she thinks is best to save her lover? She said it herself that she sees everyone around her as pieces to her game, so this isint a deceiving move on her part, at least for us the readers. And again, this all happened before the widows watch, so Annabel didint know yet just how far Lenore would go for her friends, if she knew this information before then she might not have done what she did. And of course the method at which dukes dissappearance is mega cruel, but we can’t forget that Monty is also a there and clearly had an influence on how he wanted things to happen.

Annabel being the one behind it all is ti me the most plausible and the most interesting story line, for the angst the drama and eventually the reconciliation (lennabel are endgame after all so them getting back together is inevitable).

No hate to this theory but if annabel was just protecting Lenore, and volunteered duke in her place, I find that it’s kinda a cop out, if you’re gonna make her villainous, might as well go all out right?

We also can’t forget that this is a one for all hunger games style story, people are going to be trying to kill each other left and right since there’s only one life, and we shouldn’t expect everyone to be all friendship first or whatever.

To me, morally grey/ corrupted characters are waaayyy more interesting m, and that’s litteraly the nature of Annabel’s character, just how far would she go to get her and Lenore out of nevermore? This series dosent pull any punches when it comes to morality, and that’s why I love it so so so so much, it’s brilliant story telling!

And then personally for me, my two favorite characters are Annabel and duke so this whole scenario is ripping me apart and I love it ✨

(Also, i wouldn’t be mad at all if I’m wrong and she did in fact do a wall swap, both possibilities are interesting!)

so today i was in the mw oc server talking abt some stuff i noticed about jawbone (+ some other theory stuff as well!!)

so first of all. two kind of obvious details:

he is green (“yeah no shit sherlock” i hear u thinking. trust me there is a reason why im pointing it out)

his pupils are triangular. nobody else in the show so far has had triangular pupils. (well. i mean commander tezzoree’s eye has a triangular pupil but she hasnt made an appearance in any episodes yet and i doubt the two characters are connected)

just making this point known for now. we will hold this thought for later in the post.

another thing: so in the ref sheet of him posted to the mw tumblr back in september i believe(?), his name is written as “jawbone (a.k.a. scythelord)”

you know where a character by the name of “scythelord” has shown up already?

on a wanted poster, thats where!! he has a bounty on his head!!!

which means that tyneen and her crew are probably after him, which probably explains why they’re at the thicc chicc casino. (how do i know jawbone is there? because ricket is there, which i know because he is shown interacting with both shrike and tyneen, who we know are both there)

now. remember that thought from earlier that i told you to hold until later? now is the time to bring it back.

ok so. we already know that colors and shapes each have their own respective significance in this show, and colors and shapes are chosen deliberately.

this further cements my belief that ep 4 will have a LOT in it regarding the cataclysm or some other related thing. why?

despite the poor image quality in the second pic, you can still tell that both of these characters have some sort of magenta (or pink i guess?) type of theming going on in their designs.

i did a whole bunch of examining colors today in light of this, actually!!! quick fun fact for those unaware: RGB and CMYK invert into each other.

and then after i made that image i started sorting things into what colors they are. (white and black have been omitted from the screenshots simply because there doesnt seem to be any significant things tied to them)

obviously this list is probably incomplete and i will continue to add to it, of course.

(my main inspo for even thinking about CMYK for theories in the first place was @toastedclownery btw!! GO CHECK OUT THEIR BLOG IF U HAVENT ALREADY THERES SO MANY COOL THEORY POSTS THERE!!)

one final not-as-relevant theory that’s really more of a prediction: i really think joel vargskelethor is gonna be in this upcoming episode, whether it’s in whole or in part. i mean, he already voiced the duende in ep 3, so it’s not like its impossible or anything. also “scythelord” happens to be the name of joel’s band as well (which you should DEFINITELY check out if ur into metal!!!!! absolutely amazing stuff) OH OH AAAAAAND

id like to direct your attention to the title of this update, which is “the bone zone,” which i believe to be a skeleton metal reference.

also jawbone/scythelord has the little sweden viking helmet thing on the wanted poster. AND HES GREEN! LIKE FREN!!

so yeah. these evidence pieces combined with the fact that zeurel has made dozens of “vargskelethor animated” videos (which is how i got into zeurel’s animations in the first place actually!!) are what led me to make this prediction.

alright, essay time the show me your hands scene frens (the saf discord knows what’s up)

In the hit horror comedy musical The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals created and produced by Team Starkid, a certain scene, Show Me Your Hands, reveals a main character's husband, the bastard cop Sam, to be infected with the nasty blue shit. This both intensifies and reduces how he treats her, Charlotte. The song-- and her eventual demise-- is cut short when Ted, the man Charlotte is cheating on Sam with, knocks him out in time for everyone to get away. In this essay I will be breaking down the action and motives of all three characters, and why Charlotte and Ted have been set up to actually work, if things were different. 

At the start of this scene, Charlotte calls Sam to come help them, which was a grave mistake seeing as 1. Sam has proven to be a huge dick on top of being a cop and 2. he and his team have already been infected. Charlotte doesn't see or consider these facts despite being aware of their affect on her, which brings insight into how she views her marriage and her husband, and how she can't realize that walking away and standing up for herself is the right thing to do.

 Throughout the song, both Charlotte and Ted react as the other characters normally do, seeing as this is frightening and also the cops are being bastards (ACAB.), yet there's only two moments that have any heavy action: Charlotte standing up to Sam and Ted knocking Sam off with the trashcan lid. Both actions reveal their characters and what limits both will be pushed to before reacting.  

 Charlotte stands up to Sam fairly confident that he will notice her and snap out of being on blue shit, yet, even as she does, her posture and gestures are made in fear and confusion. Something else important to note is Ted's reactions to this-- he stops merely complacently following along and actually almost kind of worried. 

 When Sam does notice her, he instantly smirks, aims a gun at her, and is ready to fire-- if the theory that the blue shit still retains the character of the victim it infects, then this has revealed that Sam has never, at all, in his cursed bastard life, cared about Charlotte, which makes the next song and scene "You tied up my heart" completely void. Even if it isn't true, it does confirm that he's a dick.

 This puts into action the next moment: Ted bashing Sam in. Ted has been following along and trying to escape throughout the scene, but at this moment he becomes both worried and enraged enough to react-- he runs to the garbage cans and grabs the lids off, instantly coming for Sam's head and knocking him out. 

This gives Charlotte the chance to grab the gun-- 

yet even as she does so, she aims it at the other cops, not at Sam. 

 And in that moment we confirm a couple of things: 

 Despite Ted absolutely being a jerk, he cares enough for Charlotte to be the first of the group to move. This action is aimed directly at Sam, which shows he sees Sam as a villain and a dick (which he is).

 Charlotte views Sam as a source of protection and comfort despite never getting that from him. No matter how she feels about Ted, she still attempts to get Sam to come back to her, and even when fighting against him, she only makes any defense toward the other cops, showing that she doesn't see him as bad. 

 Sam is a dick, as aforementioned, and represents the manipulating, controlling man who is able to convince their partners to stay with them despite being uncaring, neglectful, and abusive. 

 In conclusion, we see two flawed men and how they are in relation to Charlotte. Ted enables Charlotte and tries to get her to realize how terrible her situation is; Sam couldn't even care less. 

 If there was no blue shit or music involved, would Charlotte and Ted ever have been able to progress from work affair to something more? Would we have had a full on fuck-the-cops moment? Who knows-- but if NPMD fleshes out their characters more, I hope the instances I've just described in heavy detail are mirrored and expanded on because they damn well deserve it.
