New Exhibition | Tints of Resilience Tints of Resilience is a collective exhibition curated by Rania Mneimneh. Bringing together the works of eleven international artists in a rich tapestry of visual artworks, photography, poetry and film, the exhibition explores the potential of art in developing resilience in zones of conflict. Eleven artists, currently or previously living in the Middle East, share their experiences in art-making and using art to cope with war, asylum, injury and search for identity. They present both individual explorations and artistic collaborations with refugee children, social workers, and art therapists. Visitors are invited to join the artists in vibrant aesthetic moments where art making provides the opportunity to address conflict and alienation through the unfolding of multiple narratives, where art can make meaning through empowerment. We look forward to meeting you at the gallery. girls intertwine. Six year old Aisha was born and lives in Yahya refugee camp
in Bekaa, north Lebanon, in a tent she calls home. Ten year old Nujoud is a
fictional character, invented by Aisha, living in a hamlet by the sea. Ghaleb Hawila, "Migrating Letters", Acrylic on Canvas (Artworks on display @p21_gallery now) "Migrating Letters" is a collaborative work between the artist and refugee children where play and art intermingle in beautiful splashes of paint and calligraphic verses. Ghaleb draws these verses calligraphically over giant canvases painted on by the children and then crops them into more than fifty pieces. Assisted by many small hands, she drew spirals, dots and circles around her flying characters. The scenes that make up the collection aim to display the camp as seen through the eyes of the collection’s protagonist: Zoubeyda al Melhem, an eleven year old resident of the camp.
