"Even if we could, our home planet is twelve lightyears away."

Captain Eme leaned his head close to Paxie's and uttered lowly: "They don't have any rings on their ship."

The aliens looked exactly like what would happen if a lion and a hyena had a baby and it came out a dinosaur.

"Are we betting the last members of humanity on that thing's friendliness?" John asked.

"No matter what happens, we're at these people's mercy," Adina whispered.

The boarding party was comprised of three individuals. Admiral Paxie, xenomedic Ensign Kime, and Sergeant Klte. Sergeant Klte was a Qomo, one of the smaller species in the Xoixe's catalog of allies. Given the delicate and relatively defenseless physiology of the new aliens, Paxie had determined that Klte would be the best received as the face of the alliance. It stood on four thin legs, rose up on an elegant, slim torso, and had four thin arms, a sleek, mostly featureless face, a thin, lipless mouth, large, black eyes, and pale skin. It was downright cute.

"Admiral," Kime uttered, looking at the new aliens, "these creatures are exhibiting signs of extreme stress."

"Hopefully our new friends will be comfortable enough joining us to tell us what's happened here," Paxie said.

Palau Reial Major de Barcelona

La història del Palau Major dels comtes de Barcelona, després també reis d’Aragó, començà l’any 1116, quan s’esmenta per primera vegada per diferenciar-lo del Palau Menor, avui desaparegut.

El palau s’estenia des de la llavors catedral romànica, situada a un extrem de l’actual conjunt catedralici, fins a una placeta, la de Sant Iu, que queda a una de les sortides laterals de la catedral, a l’altre extrem de l’edifici religiós.

El conjunt conté diferents edificis, com el Saló del Tinell, ordenat construir pel rei Pere el Cerimoniós el segle XIV; la capella palatina de Santa Àgata, datada a començament del mateix segle, sota el regnat de Jaume II; i el Verger, un jardí porxat rodejat de diverses dependències que es comunicava amb el Tinell i que actualment forma part del Museu Frederic Marés.

També hi estan integrats en el conjunt les escales que donen accés al palau, lloc de reunió del Consell de Cent, govern de la ciutat, fins que aquesta institució no va tenir seu pròpia. Es tracta d’un dels llocs més característics del conjunt gòtic, ubicat a un racó de la Plaça del Rei.

Posteriorment, al segle XVI se li afegí el anomenat Mirador del Rei Martí, encara que aquest monarca va regnar a començaments del segle XV, com a darrer rei del Casal de Barcelona. Aquest edifici es caracteritza per la seva alçada i les galeries amb arcs de mig punt.

Un altre edifici que se li va afegir al conjunt durant el segle XVI va ser el Palau del Lloctinent, bastit a instàncies de la Generalitat de Catalunya, i que actualment és la seu del Arxiu de la Corona d’Aragó.

Les dependències del Palau Reial Major de Barcelona formen part actualment del Museu d’Història de la ciutat, que permet fer un recorregut pel subsòl de la Ciutat Comtal, on es troben restes arqueològiques d’època romana.

"Transformers: One" Review: A Great Setting and Four Lunatics

The concept of the transformation gears seems like a metaphor for the transition between early adolescence and adulthood. Before obtaining the gear, it's like children living collectively in a strict school, forced to cut off a part of themselves to ensure the smooth operation of order.
