𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐒𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐃, softened eyes would stare out across the field of students, barely recognizing the senior class she’s grown to know. in their own private corner, where they get to preserve precious memories, she was beginning to find the attachment she originally had sever itself more and more as the days get closer to graduation. just two months left. having uncovered so much on their own, she’s starting to wonder if all the evidence she’s seen was right in front of her face the whole time-- and never picked up on it. not an ounce of her father’s absence or how random visits from his ‘comrades’ would stop by.
“ no... i didn’t, ” it sounded somber coming from her, a different tone than her normal. evan’s question left an eerie echo running towards the back of her mind. she knows it’ll keep spinning on its axis, along with the rest of her notions that keep piling up, “ nothing gave away that my dad was up to something that fucked up. it was either he was holed up at work or he needed to go in early-- it’s not exactly out of the ordinary for him to not come home right away, ” pulling back with her hands off the table, she looks to the twin, “ i gotta dig in some more and i don’t know where to keep going. the lab is sectioned off, there’s way too many cops out there guarding the place. ”

her body felt like it could collapse in itself and mend with the earth, scrub out the heart ache she’s kept buried for weeks. to idolize and praise someone she saw as a hero, who spent his weekends encouraging her to play a boy-ish instrument, teach her to skate, fight, be fair to others, bake a cake from scratch-- it was devastating to learn of the role her father plays: just a pawn in another man’s game. she leans back against old brick, hiding from the rest of the world in an alleyway with one half while the other was occupied. her attention was pulled away from looking out into the main street before they finally lingered to daina, “ maybe he’s not what he’s cracked up to be-- maybe i’m too stupid to realize that he’s probably being protective, i don’t know. ”
