I read a lot on PDF and even on paper I don't use bookmarks. HOWEVER... The weirdest bookmark i do use sometimes is my phone skgjdjfj

17. Talk to me about the minutiae of your current WIP. Tell me about the lore, the history, the detail, the things that won’t make it in the text.

Right now I'm mainly writing for another fandom, Hollow Knight. I started a really chill project in which I explore post-canon events of one of the endings. I've posted 4 chapters, I'm halfway through the 5th out of 16-20 chapters? Since this isn't the fandom this work belongs to I won't dwell for too long, but I can talk about it more in my HK sideblog (@fungal-wasted) (I'm a little desperate i need to talk about it)

FOR THIS FANDOM: I have been delaying a Chara essay for far too long skgkdjf I also have some thoughts related to Frisk in neutral endings, and a Pre canon Sans and Toriel fic that had lived in my brain for A While but I have not written because idk how to start.

19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?

PFFFT. So I barely consider myself a writer but I've actually spent a lot of time thinking about writing or telling stories. This is long but hopefully not tedious to read!!

8 year old me would write in the format of a play (with formal notations and all) about my first OCs. They were average for a kid that age to be honest. I remember one was named Carmín. Whatever. I just wrote because it was fun to make stories. I also hated reading so not even my old self would have cared about the story lol.

9-11 I had some self insert OCs who were 3 sisters and they went to a lot of vague fantasy places. Never wrote a story down, just had very vivid images and I'd talk to myself roleplaying my characters... Man i was a little weird. It's OK though. It was fun.

By 12-14 i got into Wattpad. I was into Heroes of Olympus and got introduced to fanfiction there. There were also my first attempts at translation and they weren't great but i had a lot of readers. It improved my English inmensively, despite it all. I was into YA literature but I was a bit dumb, not too critical and ashamed about it.

15-18 pure silence. I read some stuff, wrote nothing and I thought I was cringy, I also left Wattpad for the most part, knew about AO3 but rarely frequented it...

And now we're here. I started writing fic regularly whenever I'd get an idea to share, or a scene in my mind that I wanted to portray and add to the piles of fic that sometimes didn't have what I was looking for. It also became a good chance to understand conversations, intent and such better and to have an outlet for all my thoughts. I also like writing essays or such on occasion. OH and it was a chance to write in English too and practice!!

The biggest bumps are when you feel the structure of your story shaking under the weight of inconsistency and or lack of a way to address what you want and have the desired effect.

Now I like both character studies and worldbuilding, and that's what my writing tries to do! I'm also trying to get back into translation (check out @tortadecuchufli ). I want to try out different things and maybe branch out to original writing at some point in the future but who knows.

Some of you may know I haven't updated any of my WIPs in a while, and my Kinktober entires have been pre-written. I'm not writing one entry per day for the whole month because I simply got too busy along the way, and I'm too tired to even think of writing. Writer's block is real.

But if I'm honest, the one reason I'm not worrying or hurrying to get inspired again and to get writing again is because I'm just not motivated.

I can't believe a few months back I stated that interaction was at an all time low because now it's even lower than that. There have been a few people who have commented on things outside of kinktober whom I really appreciate, but this happens mostly on Wattpad. AO3 has been barren for me ever since I stopped working on my WIPs; there has literally not been a single new comment ever since my last update to Gravitation.

Any fics I post here to tumblr get lost because no one reblogs them.

Interaction is only spiking back up now due to Kinktober (Note: Everyone who's commented and reblogged my first two Kinktober entries mean the world to me, thank you for your support! It does not go unnoticed!) but besides that, it's all likes. Likes on my masterlist, likes on a few of the chapters of my fics, likes on specifically only the smut chapters of one of my longer fics, at times likes on every single chapter of my fic.

We're grateful you're reading our work, but we ask that you throw us a bone.

Honestly I don't know why this site even has likes when it could just replace it for the bookmark icon representing the bookmark function that it is.

Reblogging is how you get things across in this site, and commenting is the way to show appreciation towards a writer.

Now, from here on out, this rant is very specific to me and I'd debated speaking up on this weeks ago; I chose not to because I didn't want any bitterness but I also really want to be transparent so here goes:

Honestly I'm on hiatus right now and I'm not so sure I'm going to come back from it. With all I have going on in my life outside tumblr, between graduation and building a new relationship and thinking of what I'm going to do after college and the job application process that's waiting for me, it makes no sense for me to still dedicate hours daily to writing.

It makes even less sense to do it when those piles of hours have no pay off. When there's no commenting, no reblogging, no support.

Guys, I can have my stories to myself very easily. I can daydream them, I can listen to music and play a whole movie in my head of the stories that come to mind.

If I spend hours just to put it into a doc and then post it publicly, it's because some degree of me wants it to be seen.

And I'm not wrong in wanting this! No writer is being entitled or self-centered for asking that we get some sort of support in return for time-consuming work that we do for free (And anyone who's ever blamed me for daring to want interaction on my writing can go straight to la chingada - I think I blocked everyone who treated me like that but I'm still obligated to add this)

TLDR; we don't know how else to ask for support on this site, and if you're annoyed by us doing this, fear not. Soon we're gonna stop writing anyway. Maybe just for a while, maybe for good. If it's just not worth it anymore, we're not going to stay there.

I’m feeling a little frustrated, so I’m gonna air it out.

If you enjoy a fic enough to leave a like on every single part of it, THEN REBLOG IT AND/OR COMMENT ON IT.

I am SO SICK of getting spam likes and am feeling SUPER disheartened right now about my longer WIPs. The last chapter of OSaaT was something I worked VERY hard on (10k words is a lot for me in a single chapter). I did a lot of research to get Oksann’s backstory just right thinking that reveal would be nice. Worked hard on the details of Chuck and Ry’s relationship development. Edited the action sequence about ten times over.

For S&S, the last two chapters have contained the things I’ve been building towards for the ENTIRE FIC (and even some things I’ve been building towards since Guarded), and to see them have very little interaction is crushing.

I know I’m not alone in this. I see a ton of other writers on here feeling this way. We spend hours outlining, researching, editing, trying to make things just right, so if you like something, PLEASE TELL US.

I am struggling to find motivation to write right now because it genuinely feels like there is so little interest. It’s the entire reason I started Fandom Friday. I wanted to drive up interactions with fics and art, but I’m STILL seeing people that just spam like my ask responses INSTEAD OF ENGAGING WITH THE ACTUAL CREATION. There are some that do go and engage with the recs, and to those people, gold stars all around, but there needs to be more of that.

PLEASE DO MORE THAN JUST SPAM LIKE CREATIONS ON HERE.

Oh boy it would be a toss up between I failed (Morgana tells Gwaine about Merlin's magic just before he dies), We're here (Percival comes back to Camelot after 5x13 and finds Elyan Gwaine and Lancelot waiting for him) or just the entirety of the Knights series :’)

I do have a Merlin x BBC Ghosts wip but idk if it counts as a crossover bc it doesn’t have Ghosts characters just the concept.

Oh so many. Lancelot returns just before 5x11 but only Merlin and Mordred can see him, Leon and Merlin keep meeting throughout history but they always have their faces covered so they don’t realise... the list goes on 😔

Rambling sarcastic dumbass tone that is just my inner monologue :’) chaos, humour, angst, adhd, hugs, ace stuff and trans stuff, can-you-tell-how-tired-i-am-by-the-amount-of-beds-in-my-fics, RAREPAIRS

PLOT i cannot write complex plot or a lot of scenes or long fics, I just do not have the oomph for it. i am ok with this.

OOOF i mean i do love all my trans fics and def wanna write more of it and I’m VERY proud of Six days as it’s my longest and only completed multichapter fic. I just... It’s not currently posted but it’s another one of my fics that is almost finished and pretty much is a retelling of the Diamond of the day of BBC Merlin if events had gone differently with saving a bunch of characters including mordred, daegal, kara, sefa, Gilli among many others and it’s very angsty. Like tears and sobbing angsty…

I actually wrote ONE crossover that I never posted and it was a disaster… I will never mention it again.

Oooo, I’m gonna go back to my beginning fandom roots and say a platonic relationship I love is from an anime called Princess TuTu and it’s Fakir & Muto… I watched the anime along with another one called Sugar Sugar Rune when I was like 4 and they will always hold a special place in my heart along with the Original Fruits basket and the Manga…

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

Probably one of my Umbrella Academy fics that I had started to write. Mostly because when a lot of stuff happened with the very strong opinions in certain comments it made me loose inspiration and hope in writing for the fandom in a way. But it was my favourite idea and now I can barely look at it anymore…

What are your writing strengths?

Figurative language my beloved… I mold and bend works like clay to my will and abuse them for the sake of art. I sometimes place words that have no correlation besides each other but with their surrounding pears have all the meaning of everything I mean for them to say. My teachers all throughout school loved and hated my writing all the same but i always counted it as one of my strengths.

What are your writing weaknesses?

That I get distracted in words and go off on off topic tangents. I always do this and I have to stop myself. And like I’ve said before this just end up a old tangled yarn ball of metaphors that in another persons hands, the knots are yanked at and pulled so impossibly there’s no chance to get it undone. But in mine, the twist and turns of yarn become limp and fall so incredibly loose between my fingers. So I want to make my writing able to be untangle without too much of a yank or tug.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’ve done it myself with Raphael Santiago from Mortal instruments in Spanish and Small dialogue bits I’m okay with. But if it’s like a full speech I’m not too keen on it even if I understand the language.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Wait funny story real quick, I recently found my old notebook I used to write fanfiction in when I was like 8 and it’s atrocious. But if I remember correctly the first fanfic in their is with Magi (another anime and manga series very dear to my heart) but if i’m correct the first piece of actual fanfic I wrote was a bit earlier and it was Pandora Hearts maybe? Or even around the time that shows like Avatar and Teen Titans aired…

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I have to go with “The Ingenuous” mostly because I remember many years ago thinking those two would be good friends but completely abandoned the idea because it was like 2015 and I thought the fandom was dead… And also because these two don’t have a canon relationship I have taken free will with it and halfway through writing it I realized their relationship has elements of practically me and one of my friends I’ve known my whole life. And that person is very near and dear to me and I’ve always held them close to my heart… So really that fic just has everything of me and I’ve given my all into that fic.
