Tiger’s Curse by Colleen Houck was a series I read in high school and I completely fell in love with the cover. Tigers 😍then i read the premise and discovered that the story involved Indian mythology?! Oh my, I’m in! I fell in love with the story easily!!! I quickly bought the next books (in Portuguese) and finished the series while attending college (in English). Last year, I discovered I hadn’t read the fifth book, Tiger’s Dream. So I quickly reread the series (again) in 2021 and finally read the last book.

A little context is perhaps necessary: two princes, Dhiren and Kishan, are cursed by a villainous man, they are turned to tigers for the rest of their lives and they can only be in human form for 24 minutes. The two brothers go their separate ways, one stays in the jungle and assumes his animal traits, and the other is caught by hunters and brought to the circus. 350 years passed since they were cursed, and in Oregon, Kelsey goes to work in a circus and meets one of the tigers. Her life takes a BIG turn and she finds herself in India helping the tigers to lift the curse with different quests, and also, ends up falling in love.

Although this review is about Tiger’s Dream, I’ll say what I think about the previous books.

Even though it was the first series from this author and you can see that the writing was a bit flawed, you can also see the evolution throughout the series, it only got better in my opinion. We obviously have romance, and a love triangle (rolling my eyes) that I actually enjoyed. Basically this was twilight for me (and no I didn’t read the twilight (oh no, anyway))! I was happy and sad with the ending. The author dives into unusual settings and throws herself into myths or ancient beliefs to create this amazing and original story. The ancient era and the new are always intertwining which was beautiful to read. The different realms and temples they visited, and the adventures they went through, gosh I wish it had happened to me. It was really amazing!!! Now, as I am more mature (hopefully) and, looking back to the characters, I feel like some of the traits they present make me itch. The males are a bit too possessive or authoritarian sometimes, and Kelsey in the end, her choices didn’t make sense and she was hurting the person who loved her (what a bitch move). But it was one of the greatest journeys.

The Tiger’s Dream is the resolve we needed for Sohan. His relationship with Anamika was so wholesome to read. They were both hurt by different reasons and together they healed each other. Also, this book answers some questions and explains a lot about what happened throughout the series. The end of the book completely broke me, in a way it was the perfect goodbye to this series (I cried a lot). So, what is left to say is: thank you Colleen.

Leitura nova! Fiquei adiando essa leitura desde Fevereiro de 2016 (que foi quando li o segundo livro dessa série). Pra mim essa série não é grande coisa! Gosto muito das partes da ação, acho que a autora foi criativa e essas são as melhores partes do livro, as que sempre me prendem... Agora o romance... 👎🏻👎🏻 Não aguento esse romance, é tão exageradamente dramático e às vezes até sem sentido! Já estou na página 150 e já estou com vontade de abandonar o livro porque não suporto esse drama todo sem sentido. Lembro que o primeiro e o segundo livro eu levei mais ou menos quase um mês inteiro para terminar a leitura de tão chato e enjoativo que tava! Espero não levar todo esse tempo com esse terceiro livro também! Odeio as horas em que o senhor Kadam conta histórias e/ou explica sobre certas coisas, são praticamente dez ou mais paginas só dele falando e é insuportável! Como disse, já estou na página 150 e até agora esse triângulo amoroso de Ren, Kelsey e Kishan está me matando! Pra mim é um triângulo amoroso forçado e sem cabimento! O jeito como Kelsey está dando esperanças pro Kishan está ficando ridículo já! Argh! Mas mesmo com isso tudo, não vou abandonar o livro e vou tentar acelerar logo essa leitura!  ~‘TIGER’S CURSE’ SERIES~

I thought that since this is my first ever Tumblr post and review, that it was only appropriate to talk about one of the first series I have read (Since ���The Twilight Saga’ I mean.) 

The ‘Tiger’s Curse’ series by Colleen Houck is magical. The story itself is just as beautiful as the covers, all of which will always be my favorite, and takes readers on a journey to places across the world, through other realms, and even back in time. It were those stunning blue eyes of Ren the tiger that initially brought my attention to this series, not realizing that I had already fallen in love with his character even before I began reading. I could go on and on about Ren, but you would have to read the series to really understand why he will always be at the top of my list for male leads. Oh and I should mention that Ren is not always in his tiger form (I love animals but not in that way…) he, along with his brother Kishan, were princes of a kingdom in India long ago. They were cursed by a dark wizard named Lokesh to live as tigers and to live as immortals, forced to watch everyone around them die over time. 

Kelsey, the main character, finds Ren the tiger at her new job in the circus over the summer. It turns out that she is the only one who can help Ren and his brother break the curse. 

The rest you will have to find out yourself. I would hate to give away anything in this brilliant series, for I want everyone to witness the magic themselves at its full capacity. And may I mention that the romance in this series is breathtaking!
