The theme of the eleventh Object Head Zine is “MAGIC AND FANTASY”.

(Illustration by TheHoleyness, concept/sketch by Potentialforart) Embrace the swirling magic inside as you summon power from the depths, awaken the sleeping strength to battle strong foes, and venture forth to adventure - this year's zine wants you to pull forth your imagination and seize fantasies beyond your wildest dreams! Feel free to pick whatever genre you'd like; there's plenty to choose from!

This book will feature 35 people I’ve selected, plus 35 open slots available to the public for a total of 70 participants! This year’s zine is a PAID OPPORTUNITY of $115 USD per page (an increase from previous years!). Participants will be paid as soon as they complete their piece  (give or take a week for PayPal to transfer funds). There will be a pre-order sale to cover the costs of printing and shipping.

The guidelines are as follows:

Illustration-quality works in either digital or traditional mediums. Both colour and b/w acceptable; background required. *BG can be as simple as a pattern or colour block!

6”x9”, 300 DPI illustrations with a 1/8th inch bleed (FINAL DIMENSIONS SHOULD BE 6.25” x 9.25”) Works must be in CMYK, and in a vertical format only.

At least one (1) work in progress picture should be sent in with your final illustration.

For consistency’s sake, keep faces to a minimum (You can have eye(s) or you can have mouth(s) but don’t have both in a humanoid arrangement.)

Original characters only (yours or your friends’).

You can include humans or other creatures, as long as there’s a 1:1   object head to non-object head/human ratio.

This book is for all ages. PG-13 content at the most! Cartoon violence and blood are acceptable, but realistic gore is NOT. Use your common sense. If you’re unsure, run the idea by me.

Completed illustrations must be sent as a flattened psd or tiff file

I know this was unintentional but you completely forgot about Duke lol, unless he isn’t part of the Batfam yet in this timeline? I’ve personally taken it as Duke is the only one who gets along with Reader and although they aren’t close, just giving Reader awkward bare minimum attention instantly makes them the closest family member to Reader.

i’m gonna go back and fix that don’t worry! but he won’t be mentioned much simply because he really only moves into the manor at 16 and because he’s 3-4 years older than Damian, he’s about a year older than reader so he came to the manor only a couple months before Tiff and around the reader’s 15th birthday. Reader doesn’t have time to try and bond with him and is kind of jealous of him at first. he just got into the family so easily and is just casually doing family game night and movie night with them so reader kind of resents him for not having to work or ‘prove’ himself.

Duke and reader are chill, i wouldn’t say they’re particularly close but he does acknowledge her way more than the rest of the family and does genuinely care for her. He’s just so caught up in trying to fit in with the other batkids that he sometimes forgets reader!

WoD Hallozine - a mini-Zine!

Introducing WoD HalloZine, a mini-Zine project for the Month of October!

WoD HalloZine is a short, one month project celebrating community and fanworks based on the World of Darkness. This zine will be free and distributed digital-only on socials. The theme of the zine is Haunting. Whether it be wraiths roaming the halls of an abandoned mansion, demons bound to their hosts, vampires lamenting on the nature of their immortal existence, or Garou communing with spirits in the Umbra, tell us your tales of dread, longing, and sorrow featuring your original characters. What sordid secrets are hiding in the dark? What Haunts You? How to Participate This is a time-sensitive event that's accepting submissions from September 24 - October 31, 2024. You can submit any art or written work based on original characters in any of the World of Darkness properties. You are welcome to submit existing work that hasn't been featured in a zine or create a new piece based on the theme. To sign up and be eligible to participate, please submit a form here: https://forms.gle/nnrShH3LDhbBtvip9 You will be contacted at least two times during the event: first to confirm your participation, second to check in and collect your final submission. Characters are NOT limited to a certain person. However, we just request that you list a few just in case one character gets saturated with requests and mods suggest you switch to a group piece or switch characters.

Finished pieces should ideally remain unposted until closer to the zine publication date (February 2024) Posting sneak peeks is fine though!

General:

This zine is all ages! As a result, please refrain from creating any content that wouldn’t be present in the game. There’s no theme planned, but if you want to find a way to incorporate the title into your piece, props to you!

All communication will be done through Discord due to the nature of this project. Mods will message you within a few days once applications have closed with the link to join.

Please submit the finished piece with the account(s) you want to be credited under and an icon to represent you in the discord during the final check-in (Jan.22) .

We want all characters to be represented! When applying, please submit a few characters you are interested in in the format of first choice, second choice, etc. Mods will contact you in the event that there are too many people requesting the same character. Cut characters are fine as choices as well! Group pieces are exempt from this.

OCs are fine to include in your piece, but please keep the AHIT characters as the main focus of the piece.

Totally optional, but feel free to submit a small blurb about your piece (2-4 sentences)! This will be attached to the piece at the bottom with your icon.

There will be three check-ins, including the submission date. The estimated timeline for them will be a few days during the weeks of Dec. 17th, Jan. 8th, and Jan. 21st. The zine completion date with all pieces submitted, edited, and published is the first week of February. Final dates will be posted in the discord once everyone has applied and we know the general number of people participating. Mods will give ample notice if this publishing deadline moves. Due to this, if you miss two check-ins without notifying mods, you will not be able to participate and will be dropped.

Artists (illustrations/comics):

Pieces should meet the minimum dimensions of 2500px/8.5in by 3300px/11in (letter size paper!) Ideally, send as a .png or .tiff

Pieces must be finished and fully coloured with the exception of comics after the first page. Comics must have the first page coloured but can have subsequent pages be monochrome. This means that unless the piece requires large amounts of white space, the background should not be left blank.

Please keep in mind that pieces that do not fit the dimensions will have to be rescaled and mods cannot ensure image quality will be the same.

Please sign somewhere on the piece! I want the art to be credited correctly. If you don’t, I’ll add a small watermark with the account you want to be credited.

Writers:

Each piece of allotted a space of 5 pages or 2500 words. If you feel as though what you want to write would go over this amount, contact one of the mods and we can discuss it.

All forms of writing are allowed. However, if the piece needs to be formatted a certain way, please send it as a PDF so I can ensure the format is correct. Otherwise, please send as a .doc, .docx, or .rtf

After some quite chaotic times, we want to meditate a bit and put our mind at ease. So for our next issue we make an open call with the theme "Mindfulness."

Theme: Mindfulness

Page count: 4-12 (preferably an even page count)

Language: English

Format: DIN A6, width 10.5cm × height 14.8cm

Bleed: In case you want your comics to be full bleed make sure to add 3 mm cut off space all around the comics (in this case the width of each page should be 11.1 cm and the height 15.4 cm). Don't place texts and important details close to the page borders!

Colors: Yes, CMYK, b/w works are also welcome, color profile FOGRA52

Resolution: 300 dpi (1200 dpi for b/w works)

File format: preferably tiff or pdf

If we publish your comics, you'll get 6-10 free copies of the anthology.

You keep the full copyrights to publish your story anywhere else.

Not all the works from the open call will be published! Usually we get around 200 submissions of which we can print around 20. As we usually get many submissions we enjoy, we often also use "rejected" pieces for later issues or try to collaborate with the artists on other projects.

The decision what we'll publish will be made until around 1 June. We'll mail you if you're in!

We'd prefer if you don't publish the full comics on- or offline before we print it.

Please don't send comics which are made for a bigger format. If your comic is unreadable in A6 format, it will not be published!

We are always happy to feature experimental approaches in storytelling and art. Don't limit yourself!

Ominis Gaunt

So, he likes being held.

He will admit it with pride, his favorite place is with his head on your chest.

So it's a dreary winter day and that's exactly where you are. In front of the Slytherin fireplace holding a sleepy Ominis. And he is sleepy, he can hardly keep his eyes open.

It's a Saturday and everyone else is in Hogsmeade, so you have the common room to yourself. The gramophone is playing your favorite song and it's pretty much perfect.

If it wasn't for the unfortunate events of the night before.

Ominis had received a rather nasty howler from his parents regarding you, demanding he answer their questions about your blood status.

And in the howler they had mentioned how it was already shameful to have a blind son, and not to mention a blind son courting a potential mud blood.

It really shattered Ominis.

He had cried himself to sleep that night and woke up with you snuggled against him, having snuck into his dorms after hearing what happened.

And now he was finally on the verge of restless sleep, being held by you.

No matter how many times you told him that he was absolutely breathtaking, he didn't quite believe you.

The moment was right. You kissed your boyfriend's head and rested your cheek against his hair.

Ominis hadn't been asleep. He turned his head and nuzzled further into your chest, blushing slightly. "What does that mean?"

Well. You hadn't expected to get caught. So you stuttered for a second before blushing yourself. "Um...nothing. I just called you pretty, that's all."

When it's genuine, Ominis has the prettiest laugh you've ever heard.

"I'll believe it if you keep talking to me. That sounded amazing. Is that Italian?"

After the events of fifth year, arguments were unfortunately common in your relationship.

Of course they never escalated, were never really more than tiffs honestly.

But as much as you love Sebastian, he could drive you to your wits end.

What had started off as an invite to snog in the undercroft ended in an argument.

He asked you about the boy you were talking to in herbology, and when you dismissed the question he started an argument.

Maybe a reasonable thing to ask, but not to be passive agressive over.

So when you put your hands in your hair and sigh, muttering a "Oh mio Dio!" between clenced teeth, you're shocked when Seb stops his pacing to look at you.

"Say that again."

And he has a commanding voice that makes anyone listen (and weak in the knees), so you repeat yourself.

And he just smiles.

"You're voice is so pretty when you say things like that. In What, Italian?"

Of course you are taken aback because a moment ago you were ready to kill him.

"You should say things like that more." He smirks before apologizing.
