PC: Slide-1 (Cover): @ratnorudra | Slides-1-9: @rakhisinhaartnphotography #shubhomahanavami ! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜‡ From #mahasaptami (7th day of #navratri ) to #mahanavami (9th day of Navratri, #durgamaa looks this incredible, blessing the whole wide world, indiscriminately! On this final day of #durgapuja , @ratnorudra helped us with this stunning cover pic by clicking it. #kumaripuja is performed on Navami. Feasting is on through 3 days celebration. On #vijaydashmi (10th day), after #sindoorkhela , Maa is submerged in a water body, called #durgavisarjan . The rest of the pics of making are from the same #throwbackdurgapuja2k19 visit to traditional artists camp at Kali Mandir CR Park, New Delhi, India. Months before Durga Puja, sculptors from #westbengal , camp near the Puja Pandal at various locations celebrating Puja across India. These 100% #handmadeinindia Durga Puja sculptures are created on a bamboo frame. Dry grass forms the supporting base for these clay sculptures. The clay mix used for Durga maa murti is as per the ancient Hindu scriptures. It has: 1. Clay from #rivergangesbank , 2. #cowdung , 3. #cowurine (or #gaumutra ), 4. Soil from outside brothels. This soil is called #nishiddho #pallis . Once sun dried, these sculptures are then painted to deliver an incredible looking #goddessdurga ! Her #lovedones and other key #hindudieties are also sculpture. They are: Lakshmi (#goddessofwealth ), Saraswati (#goddessofknowledgeandmusic ), Ganesha (#godofwisdomandknowledge ), and Kartikeya (#godofwar ). They are considered as Goddess’ kids and the celebration is of her homecoming with kids, after killing the demon Mahishasur (hence Her name #mahishasurmardini ). Durga Puja is especially celebrated in the East Indian states of West Bengal and #odisha. (at Cr Park, new Delhi) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGxfzIJhXJM/?igshid=cjhl6vltf8hg
