Van filmscript naar boek

Frank Cooler debuteert met een verrassende thriller

Als scenarist en regisseur bedacht Frank Cooler in de jaren tachtig een filmscript. Zijn idee verschijnt na vele herinterpretaties nu in de vorm van een boek. Zijn achtergrond als filmmaker is duidelijk voelbaar op de manier waarop de scènes tot leven komen. De lezer belandt op een eiland vol mysterie. 

Paul Roosen heeft zich tijdelijk teruggetrokken op dit afgelegen eiland om te ontsnappen aan de problemen in zijn huwelijk en zijn bedrijf. Daar ontmoet hij Sabine, een excentrieke en spirituele vrouw die bekendstaat als de "Eilandheks". Als er plots een moord wordt gepleegd op het ogenschijnlijk vredige eiland wordt Roosen daarvan beschuldigd. Hij heeft geen alibi en zijn vingerafdrukken staan overal. 

Maar wie heeft het echt gedaan en kan Paul zijn onschuld bewijzen? Bedreigingen, verraad en manipulatie stapelen zich op. 

De zaak Roosen is niet alleen een spannende thriller, maar ook een verhaal over zelfreflectie. Paul zet alles op alles in om de echte moordenaar te vinden, maar eindigt in een diepgaande confrontatie met de vraag wie hij zelf werkelijk is. ‘Dit verhaal heb ik geschreven voor mensen die van mysterie en psychologische spanning houden’, zegt de auteur. ‘Sommige dingen zijn gebaseerd op gebeurtenissen uit mijn eigen leven. Gelukkig heb ik niet zo’n moord op een eiland hoeven oplossen; dat had ik misschien niet overleefd.’
