Got this thing at Goodwill for $5. I totally know what it is. I didn't waste hours on failed Google searches. When my sister opens this Thriftmas gift, I think she'll really enjoy her... Lighter*?

(*99% confident it's a big ass lighter or weird little lamp but I can't figure what's the chained box for. The metal seems too thin for an ashtray, and there's no residue of ashes or oil... Maybe it's to hold seven Werther's originals or one tiny burrito)

I love a fancy table lighter, that's a fun one.

Thrift-mas time.

Because we're broke as hell, this year instead of doing a Secret Santa, we're doing a white elephant gift exchange.

Meaning you either re-gift something from around your house that you don't need or want, maybe something intended for the thrift store.

OR...

You go to a thrift store and find the strangest knick knack or the weirdest 'this was obviously a gift someone got and threw in the back of a closet until they died or moved and it ended up going to donation' item.

Then you play a game with dice where you first pick a gift then, depending on what you roll, keep, steal or exchange it over 3 or 4 rounds.

I'm hoping the in laws will enjoy it.

Boxing Day Turkey

Boxing Day. Today bought a 5.2kg (11.5lb) fresh free range turkey for half price. It had a best before date of tomorrow and straight into my freezer it went.

This one large meat purchase will provide many meals for me later in the year. A hot roast and then lots of casseroles made with the meat.

If it hadn’t been bought today this huge resource would’ve gone into a skip bin.
