location: blissful balance yoga studio
Daisy had moved to town only a few days prior to Thanksgiving and now she had been in Kismet Harbor for a week. Moving had been a challenge, stepping foot in the place where her sister had gone missing only four years ago. The memories hit her like rough waves and for a moment, Daisy wondered if she had made a mistake in moving to Kismet Harbor. She had done so to find her half-sister, though it had already not been a difficult thing as Stevie and her husband were the talk of the town after giving birth to another set of twins.
Daisy had just finished up a yoga class and was rolling up her yoga mat when she spotted someone's phone left abandoned on the floor. Almost all of the class had walked out and Daisy was quick to grab it, half-jogging after the last person, "Excuse me!" She called out, gently touching their shoulder as she caught up to them, "Sorry," an apology spilled over her lips, "is this yours?"

"That's what I keep hearing," he nodded his head. In thinking of his own parents, he wondered if they had ever been this worried about him. Truthfully, he doubted it. From the way that his mother lacked in his life and his father all but ignored him, leaving Mateo to get in all sorts of trouble, worry was not on the forefront of their minds. "Nah, I don't mind. Company's nice from time to time, outside of the bar that is," he gave a lowly chuckle as he took a step back to admire their work, "plus, I think all this hard work is deserving of a beer." @danielxkwon
Tumblr media
Dae couldn't help but to chuckle, recognising the concerns that Mateo uttered. He'd felt the same too back then. "That makes sense. I can tell you that you shouldn't have to worry but, it's only natural that you do." Dae shrugged, then let out a chuckle. "I don't mind a beer when you've the time. Don't feel like you have to. I'm happy to help." @mateoxtorres

"Hey, boss," he grinned, holding open the door for Dae-Hyun and letting the other exit before following after him. "I was just headed to grab a bite to eat at Cedar Grill and Lounge if you're free. Girlfriend's been working at her shop all week so she's left me on my own," he chuckled, letting the door close behind him after another day at the office. "Also, neither of us are good cooks so this is probably for the best."

"What's done is done," Eli continued to joke with Dae-Hyun, cracking a smile at the other. "I do look a good deep dish pizza," he had to agree, "we've got some good pizza here, though." It wasn't the same, of course, but it was better than most people gave it credit for. "A discount at the inn? That's nice. Nancy is great," he couldn't help but comment, "I know her daughter, Renee, she bartends at the grill and lounge sometimes. We've got ourselves a small town vibe, even if it's not that small." @danielxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Sheesh, thanks. Can I take back the boss comment?" Dae-Hyun chuckled, honestly not minding the jest and banter. He had to give himself more time to get acquainted with the town, if anything to just figure out the style of most of the buildings, which would be beneficial to his job. He'd see if he could get someone to give him a tour. "The deep dish pizza is the best, but anything else? Not much." He walked next to the man, creating a continuous motion with his fingers like a wave, one finger by the other, just so the tremor wouldn't frustrate him. "I do, yeah. The people are nice. And I received a discount on the inn, so that's something." @elianxbrowne

"Your guess is as good as man." He shook his head, "I'm sure they are worried it will take away the hairs on their chest or something," as if coffee actually put them there in the first place. Some men simply weren't secure enough to admit to liking something that could be considered outside the norm. "Hell yeah," he was grinning as Dae-Hyun asked if he was up for the project that he just told him about. "Consider it done." There was nothing that he loved more than getting a project like this. He was passionate about the designing aspect and his mind was already whirling with ideas. "I have just the right people in mind, don't you worry." Though he knew if he was being presented with the project, Dae-Hyun had no worries in the first place. @danielxkwon

"See? I told you." The tea here wasn't as great as it was in Korea, enjoying the blends there much more. It tasted more fresh, somehow. But this place had a surprisingly good range of teas. "Most men immediately turn their nose up at the mention of tea. What's the deal with that?" He scoffed, taking a sip from his coffee. "I did." He nodded, setting the cup down and moving his hand to type on his laptop. "I've been having talks with city hall for a new residential complex. 32 to 40 apartments, target group varies. From single residents to a young family of four. They want ideas, plans, blueprints, graphics." He spoke, scanning over the e-mail to see if he had missed something. He was certain whatever he hadn't said the mail would cover that he just forwarded to Eli. "I want you to create your own team and have everything presentable by the end of september. Meaning that the entire project will be on your name. You up for it?" @elianxbrowne

"It's hit or miss, if we get any tourism it's likely people coming from Portland," which she didn't mind at all. They were still true residents of Oregon and were considerably less obnoxious than regular tourists that came from different states. "Of course, I'd do anything for her," admittedly, Renee was closer with her mom than most people her age seemed to be with their parents. "It's really just been us my entire life," she shrugged her shoulders, "so, yeah, being close is nice," she told Dae-Hyun, "it doesn't seem that many people are close with their parents as they get older, typically from something that happened as a teen but we've always been able to work through our issues." @daehyunxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Yeah? You'd think that with the fall and the upcoming festivals, there would still be tourism." Not that Dae-Hyun was aware of how tourism worked in this town, but he imagined it was tricky. Back in Chicago, there was tourism year around. But Chicago was a big city, popular too. "She told me you took great care of her after the accident. I'm glad to see she's doing all better now." Dae-Hyun said, handing the costume off to the vendor, adjusting his shirt. "You two seem to be very close, it's endearing." @reneexthompsxn

"Doesn't it?" Jaslene's lips parted to release a relaxed sigh as her eyes came to a close listening to Dae-Hyun as he spoke. "That is impressive," the brunette pushed out of the position as he questioned which one was next. She stood, bending over to touch the floor in front of her to stretch as she thought for a passing moment. Once she straightened she looked over at the other again, "Okay, since you're experienced in yoga," she hummed, a smirk pushing the corners of her lips upward as she reached for her phone and pulled up a photo, "I want to try this, are you up for it?" @danielxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dae looked over once she got ready to bend herself in the same position, a smile tugging on the corners of his lips. "I practiced." He answered her, inhaling deeply before slowly exhaling it all in one long breath. "I can see why. Once your muscles are used to it, it feels good." He even sounded more relaxed, no longer having to tense anything. "How long, let's see.. I started physical therapy six years ago. Had my last session in 2020 and traveled to Korea.. So four to five years now." He thought out loud, knowing that it might be less than most yoga practitioners. But he had been doing it every day for a very long time at some point. Enough time to catch up and perfect. "What's the next position?" @jaslenexclairmont

"There is some wisdom," Giovanna agreed with a soft laugh. She hadn't been one to buy the unnecessary anyway. She had always been a bit of a minimalist at heart. It wasn't like her place in New York had been huge by any means. "It's the truth," she laughed, nodding her head. "Not something even I would have expected." Yet, that seemed to be the surprise of moving to a smaller place to live. "Count me in," Giovanna nodded her head once more in agreement. "Class is out for the summer, so I'm getting ready to enjoy all my free time." @danielxkwon

"My mom always used to say to only get what you needed. Guess there's wisdom in there somewhere." If only she had followed her own advice, but that aside. Speaking ill of the dead was not something Dae-Hyun practiced. "There's a knitting club in town? Get out." Every day he still found himself astounded at how different this place was compared to Chicago. He was certain Chicago had knitting clubs, but official ones? Not so much. "Might as well try it, feel like joining?" He smiled, not one to pressure her, but might as well offer. "What's been going on with you lately, then?" @giovannaxwallace

Maragret raised a brow at the other, her lips slipping into a smile and knowing smile as she set the cup of tea on the table. "I said hello, Dae-Hyun," she repeated, her voice light and teasing. Her eyes flicked to the ring that he was fidgeting with and she tilted her head slightly, "but it seems your mind is elsewhere today," it wasn't difficult to piece that together. "What's got you so distracted? Or should I take it personally that my company isn't quite as riveting as possible? Which," she held up her hands in a mock apology, "I can't say I'd blame you, the holidays take a lot of out me." She continued with a slightly playful tone at the other. @daehyunxkwon
Tumblr media
Dae-Hyun enjoyed his weekly meet-ups with Margaret. Were they best friends? He didn't think so. They ran in very different circles and they didn't have a lot in common aside from their work during the budding minds gatherings. With the gardens being out of use until spring, they'd agreed to meet up every Tuesday at the same time as they would be in the community gardens. This time however, his mind was occupied elsewhere, playing with the wedding ring he had on his middle finger rather than the finger it needed to be one. Babysteps, right? He looked up when Margaret sat down, having completely missed if she had said anything. "What?" @margaretxhawthorne

Mateo had been sent out to a job site after an apartment complex saw some damage after a candle had managed to catch fire. He had assessed the damage, taking his time to make sure that he'd be able to tell the man what he needed to hear, rather than what he wanted to hear. Or didn't want to hear. Mateo was a man of integrity when it came to his job - caring about it and not wanting to fuck up the chance he was given by Andrew Jackson. "Insurance would do that," Mateo managed to agree with the other, having a hard time dealing with insurance companies himself when he thought most of them were in place to screw people over rather than help them. "Luckily, I don't think we're goin' to have to replace the whole wall, a couple patch jobs should do the trick." @danielxkwon
Tumblr media
"What do we think, is it fixable or do we need to redo the entire wall?" Dae-Hyun asked, having watched the man as he had come along for an intake. He just needed a quote to send to his insurance and then everything could be set in motion, but he was still bummed about the entire ordeal. Of course, it was damaged by a candle so he didn't blame his neighbours, it wasn't like anyone held a constant atch on their candle after all, no matter how much someone pressed them on safety. "I'm sure the insurance will cover whatever it needs to be, but I can see it happen they'll stall if it's the entire wall." Would that be a bad thing, however? He was happy enough at the inn. @mateoxtorres

"Wow, that often, huh?" She laughed with a shake of her had, "Nice to meet you, Dae-Hyun," though he offered her an alternative with Daniel, she appreciated being able to learn his birth name in the moment. "I'm ready," she told the other, moving towards the door, "I am notorious for dropping my phone but they at least make cases and screen protectors for that," Daisy admitted with a laugh, "but forgetfulness can be hard, unless you have one of those Tiles or whatever Apple makes," she kept talking, "but then I think you'd have to remember to check it, right?" @daehyunxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I’m sure she will. At this point I’m surprised she didn’t need to buy a new one in the last year.” Dae-Hyun chuckled, nodding at her introducing herself. “I’m Dae-Hyun. But feel free to call me Daniel.” He spoke his usual introduction, knowing that not everyone could remember his birth name. “Whenever you’re ready we can go. She lives close by.” @daisyxmiller

"I hope so," Mateo said with a softened chuckle. "I don't think I'm a bad dad now," he didn't think he was great either, "but Nel seems more at ease with a newborn. I got these giant hands," he gestured with them, "and he's just so small in 'em, that I worry somethin' is goin' to happen." He told Dae-Hyun. "It's got a good rhythm to it," he laughed gently, "I appreciate all your help, I owe you." Mateo offered, "A beer, wine, food, whatever your feelin'." @danielxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It all sounds completely logical." Dae-Hyun told him, envious for the paternal nerves the man was feeling but all in a good way. He liked seeing a new father learn his way and surprising himself in the process. "You think so? Well... I for one will be eager to see it." There was so much more you could do with a toddler after all. Explore things, interact with them more. He understood that that was something Mateo was looking forwards to. He nodded while Mateo explained, again when told that his son was with his mother most of the time, which was also understandable. He figured it might be hard for Mateo, to have to visit your son whenever you wanted to see him rather than him living under the same roof. He couldn't imagine what that was like. "Mateo and Teo. I like it." @mateoxtorres

"Yeah, I keep hearin' that's the case but I don't think that's goin' to make me any less nervous," he chuckled with what felt like a pathetic admittance. He rarely looked like the type of person that got nervous easily. If anything he was the type of person to make people nervous and at this age in his life, it was not intentional. "I think I'll make a much better toddler stage dad." Though he wanted to be a good dad all the time. A nod of his head, "Yeah, surprised me, honestly," he couldn't imagine anyone wanting to name a kid after him but Nel had wanted to. "Right now I've been using Teo for him," he told Dae-Hyun, "I'm sure that Nel and Wyatt use more of a variety since he's with her most of the time." @danielxkwon
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"They do seem that way, don't they. But they can handle a lot. Very flexible." Though he knew that wasn't reassuring enough, remembering how he had been that way with every one of his own kids once they were born. He couldn't help but notice the nervous energy the man was radiating though, as if parenthood was still an uncertain aspect for him. He wouldn't dig, however. Especially seeing the circumstances with the boy's mother. His smile quirked a little at the man's chuckle, arms crossed in front of his chest. "Her idea then, I assume?" He stated. "Got it figured out how to call the both of you later? Mateo and Junior or Mateo and Teo, and who is who." He snickered, though was actually interested in the answer. @mateoxtorres

Daisy was glad that the other knew that the phone belonged to someone, even if the phone were not theirs. "Thank goodness," she breathed a sigh of relief. Daisy took the phone back, setting it into the outside pocket of her bag so that it would be easily accessible when they got to Elsbeth's place. "And thank you, for showing me. I appreciate it and I am sure Elsbeth will, too," she laughed softly. "I'm Daisy," the brunette offered her name. @daehyunxkwon

Dae-Hyun was no stranger to the yoga studio, participating every week even with his busy work schedule. Especially now that he was so close to December, he tended to go multiple times a week to turn off the chaos in his head, push the limits of his body. Not that it always worked, but he took whatever distraction he could find.
He'd gathered his belongings, rolling up his yoga mat, his towel and supportive blocks and left. He'd just made it to the exit when someone tapped his shoulder. He finished zipping up his jacket when he turned to face them, offering a smile at her apology. When she held out the phone for him to see, he let out a slight chuckle as he took it. "No, but I know whose it is." Dae told her, the case one he recognised. "That'd be Elsbeth's. She tends to lose everything that's not attached to her." He chuckled. "She lives two minutes walking from here. I can show you." Dae said, holding the phone back out. @daisyxmiller

"I'm actually not sure," admittedly, as many times as Eli had come here, he didn't really know what kind of roast they used. "I did end up trying that tea you recommended and it was pretty damn good," he added, having taken the suggestion. "Bon appetite," he raised his cup of coffee all the same, taking a sip of it before setting it back down on the table. "Mm, yeah, good coffee right here," he grinned, looking up at Dae-Hyun. "So, I'm guessing it's a project you wanted to talk about?" @danielxkwon
Tumblr media
"I am starting to believe it. I wonder what kind of roast they use." He didn't drink coffee that often, but he didn't detest the stuff. He would just rather drink tea if he had a choice. "Yeah, feel free. Might as well have something in our bellies before I throw the unknown on you." Dae-Hyun smirked, knowing that the project was a big one, the building alone would take 2 or maybe 3 years, but it would be worth it, especially for the residents. "Bon appetite." He told him, taking the cup of coffee he brought to his lips, always savouring his drinks before he ate something. @elianxbrowne

"Yeah, I'm always afraid I'm going to break him," he was gentle with the baby but there were times in which Mateo was afraid that anything might hurt his son. A nod of his head followed the man's words. "No, no family is the same," that much Mateo could attest to. From his own family growing up to the family that he and Nel had now. It wasn't at all what he would have expected, if he were honest with himself. "I'm trying to get in all the bonding time I can," he told Dae-Hyun, in agreement that bonding time was important. A chuckle escaped his lips and he shook his head, "S'pose that's the trend, huh? Senior and junior, never thought that'd ever be something I'd end up havin' in my life." @danielxkwon

"Couple of weeks, wow. They're so tiny when they're so young." Dae sighed, thinking back of his own children, of how sad it was each time it became apparent they had outgrown their onesies.. He wasn't fully aware of Mateo's situation, never really having had that conversation with Mateo in the first place. It wasn't his business to pry, and from what he felt of Mateo so far was that he wasn't the one to crack open his personal stories either. Besides, it wasn't like Dae had told Mateo about his story either. Had never uttered a single word about his children and their fates. "Ah, well. No family is the same." He told him, just in case Mateo was comparing his situation with that of others. "Well, that's good. Bonding time is important." He gave the crib one more shake to be sure, then slightly leaned against it. "So, are we to call you senior now, or?" @mateoxtorres
