Although Kareem really liked being a professor, there were some days that he wished he didn't have any responsibilities or didn't answer to anyone but himself. The young apprentice that kept blowing up his phone by sending several e-mails with the most off-topic questions about a paper had made Kareem turn his phone off for the evening.

"Hey, Rob." He said to his favorite barista as he noticed her by the bar at the old haunt. "What are you having tonight?" He then motioned to one of the bartenders and ordered Robin a second round, then one whisky sour for himself. "How are things?"

Kareem usually didn't get his mother flowers because to him, it felt like there was always an apology attached to the bouquet of flowers, however, the woman had been awarded with a community recognition for her doings in Portum, so he figured flowers would give her house a nice touch. "Hi, Theo." He complimented the shop owner with his usual, charming smile. "Are chrysanthemums a good type of flower to gift your mother with?" He asked, since Kareem didn't really know much about flowers in the first place. "Have in mind I'm looking for a 'congratulations' type of bouquet, so..."

         “  i’ll  be  there  in  a  sec  !  ”  theo  calls  out  from  the  back  as  the  bell  by  the  front  door  sounds  .  she  lets  out  a  satisfied  sigh  as  she  eyes  her  latest  arrangement  before  picking  up  the  bouquet  and  venturing  out  towards  the  front  of  the  shop  .  “  what  can  i  getcha  ?  lookin’  for  something  specific  ?  or  do  you  want  some  suggestions  ?  we’ve  got  some  beautiful  chrysanthemums  that  just  came  in  today  .  ”

WEEK 9 - Wrap Up

ELECTION EDITION

Yes, I know. Politics and football don't mix. And yes, I wish the Presidential election's in this country were as fun and entertaining as the Reese Witherspoon/Matthew Broaderick film "Election", but they are not. Nevertheless, this is a big week for our country. No matter who you vote for or what your belief's are - it's good to remember we are all American's who love football. Let's go!

All i can do is laugh. Laugh at Stu Jones! Laugh at Zay Flowers for having a big day for me. Laugh and cackle and laugh some more at my win! I needed a win and I got one! #stopthesteal

FUNK GUY vs TREE HUGGERS

This one was the "too close to call" game. It spurred a flurry of chatter on the text thread and apparently really upset the Funk Guy...as he lost maybe because of a field goal? I must be honest and tell you that I didn't watch this one very close but from looking at the line ups if I were going to blame anyone I would say Cole Kmet who put up 0 points for Dana. Scott as usual found a great defense to play and took home the win. Sorry Dana. Maybe focus on your Strategery moving forward.

TuPADRE vs TRADE WITH ME

Look at Brett. Pushing Gully out the way. Gully showed up this week and put up 114 points but Brett is like...doesn't matter I will put up 126 and take the win. It looks to me like he has Smith-Njigba to thank for the big win. Gully has now lost 2 in a row and might be on a downward trend. Nice win Brett!

LONG LEFT BALLERS vs LANAKILA

C'mon man! What the hell is going on with Bebo. This can't be possible. No one is this bad. Not trying to take anything away from Cliff. He will probably take high point after tonight so congrats on that but 1-8. It's just sad. Sad like an old man who should have retired decades ago still trying to do the job like he's young and ambitious. You know what i am talking about? Not a joke! Ah, anyway -you know the thing.

HOWARD vs MR AWESOME

Yeah...Rob Howard is probably the Frank Underwood of this league. He runs the show. Finds a way to win. And will shoot at his neighbors to get what he wants, as seen in the draft order video. This week he was up against Gabe Scott...and although he didn't grab the high point again this week - he did grab the win...easily. Just like Frank would. Nice win Rob.

MOOSES ON THE LOOSES vs THE HUNT FOR BROCKTOBER

And here we come to the "what the hell is going to happen game of the week". Mitch goes into MNF with 85.10 points facing Kyle with 81.42. Kyle with Kareem Hunt still to play and Mitch with the gift I gave him earlier this season - Baker Mayfield. Hunt did have an amazing game - with 106 rushing yards...and a game winning TD...but Kyle comes up a bit short (3 points). So with 107 electoral points, The Moose becomes the Winner elect.

CHEERLEADER OF THE WEEK

Yes, I thought about making it Nancy Pelosi (so many pictures that would have worked for that joke) but we all know who the hottest girl in the House of Representative is....AOC. Undisputed.

There was sly chuckle that escaped from Kareem lips when he spotted Kiyan in the distance, looking as flamboyant and as hot as the demon could while dressed as a sexy nun. Apparently, Kareem hadn't gotten the memo that he was supposed to be wearing his blue shirt with a couple of buttons off or something in order to fit in. "How is this not hurting you?" He asked the other while using his powers to lift the cross that reddened Kiyan's chest slightly around the shape of the object. Lucky for Kareem, rosaries still had metal beads connecting them to the other beads, and the cross was also made of some kind of metal. "Wait... pain is sort of your thing, isn't it?" He chuckled yet again, once more using his powers to tug on the rosary around Kiyan's neck.

     He should have asked for something strong   as it seems to suit the vibe of the town since the news broke about the dead body. No, not a regular dead body. A vampire's body. But Kareem had a girlfriend to pick up from work and he didn't want to show up tipsier than he should, so, the witch nodded. "The usual, Bas, thanks." Which meant a pint of his best IPA on tap. "Me? Well... I've been... I don't know, worried? Over the news, I mean." Short pause as he slid some money over the counter to pay for his drink. "But... overall, okay. Can't really complain. What about you? Have you been holding up alright?"

it's been a long week, bas muses as he stands behind the counter at the coffee shop. a dead body found, the council silent on what this means for portum — not a great start to the new year. nonetheless, he greets each customer with a smile, though not quite as broad as his usual one.

“ how've you been lately ? ” he asks the familiar face who steps up to the counter. “ oh yeah, and what can i get you ? the usual ? ”

          Kareem let out a sigh before he unlocked his door and stepped into his apartment with Theo by his side.   He’d been feeling more exhausted than usual these days, like his energy had been drained somehow. Lucky, he had Theo to make him chuckle with her jokes and everything and make him feel less like death, because honestly… that’s how he’d been feeling lately. And with the dead vampire after the new years, Kareem was feeling out of himself. “Thanks for picking what we’d eat tonight.” He said as he placed the take-out food package on the table. “I wasn’t in the mood to cook tonight.” A smile graced his lips as he looked at her and shortly after, Kareem made his way to her. He brushed her dark strands behind her ears and pressed a soft kiss upon her lips. “Have I ever told you how much glad I am that you wanted to stay here?”

          Kareem ran a hand over his face as the other held the cupholder for their coffees.   These last few weeks had been draining to say the least, add a corpse to the mix and the witch was feeling unlike himself. And then... he'd found the coin in one of his pockets, so of course, he couldn't help but feel like the witches were next and that he was being targeted as the next victim. He'd kept his discovery as a secret to his loved ones, not wanting to raise any worries or suspicions until he had a concrete answer to his inquiries. Luckily, he had his friend Charvitha to count on and maybe, try and help him finding answers.

“So…” He offered the fellow witch a fading smile. “I’m taking a page off your book and offering some coffee in exchange for your time if you have some to spare?” Placing the holder on the counter, Kareem handed Vitha the one he’d got her and took his own. “I could use your expertise on something.”

Kareem would have stayed home that morning, but something stirred him awake and kicked out of the house. A feeling, he called. So, here he was, standing in line for his first cup of coffee of the day and it seemed like he wasn't the only one. "Shouldn't you be heading home by now, beautiful?" He asked Mari, hoping the witch didn't mind the pet name that in any way, came in a derogatory way and by now, she would've know that. "If it had been a long night, that is." He added, to let her know that he indeed had paid attention to what she'd said. "Just an early start for me. If you let me walk you home, I'll add something tasty to munch on while we go. How's that?"

with  a  faint  jingle  of  the  bell  announcing  her  arrival,  marisela  pushed  open  the  door  to  hallowed  grounds.  she  was  tired  –  dead  tired,  really  –  but  she  was  certain  it  was  nothing  a  strong  cup  of  coffee  couldn’t  fix.  marisela  had  worked  all  night,  the  end  of  her  shift  coming  with  the  daylight,  and  she  practically  dragged  herself  to  portum’s  favorite  coffee  shop.  she  just  wanted  a  little cafecito  before  trudging  home  to  rest.  the  smells  wafting  through  the  air  were  promising,  to  say  the  least.  marisela  glanced  over  the  menu,  trying  to  muster  the  energy  to  make  a  decision,  but  her  eyes  were  blurring  making  it  a  near  impossible  task.  slightly  defeated,  marisela  sighed  and  stepped  up  to  the  counter  to  make  her  order,  one  hand  rubbing  at  her  temple.  “something  strong,  please.  the  strongest  you’ve  got,”  she  said  to  the  barista,  giving  them  a  tired  but  grateful  smile.  marisela  paid  for  her  order  and  stepped  aside  to  wait  for  her  name  to  be  called.  she  caught  someone’s  gaze,  and  felt  slightly  obligated  to  engage  in  some  small  talk.  “long  night  too,  or  just  an  early  start?”  maybe  small  talk  would  keep  her  awake  long  enough  until  the  caffeine  kicked  in.

Usually, Kareem didn't have any motion sickness from the 4D constellations presentations, however, things had changed that evening with for some reason. So much that he almost knocked someone over as he exited the cinematic amphitheatre because he was feeling a little woozy. "Sorry..." He told the other, his hands resting on their shoulders to steady them even though he was the one who needed to feel steady. "I promise I'm not usually like that, I just need a minute."

Thankfully, he was able to lean back against the nearest wall and closed his eyes, focusing on his breathing. One, two, three heartbeats later and his head had stopped spinning.

"Okay, now I definitely won't knock you over. I didn't hurt you or anything, did I?"

From getting to a more chatty position with his friend’s boyfriend   ,    to going home with a demon he thought he’d always hated, one thing was certain: the Halloween fair had changed some things for the witch. So, he’d taken a page out of Kiyan’s book and had decided to make it happen by asking Theo out on an actual date. He’d grown tired of the chase, if he was being honest… and he was expecting her to say no, so when Theo actually accepted his dinner invitation, Kareem was damn ecstatic.

So it was nice that dinner went well, even better she’d accepted his suggestion for taking a walk by the docks.

“It’s such a nice evening.” He said casually. His hand ghosted against hers, knuckles almost brushing against each other. “Here.” Kareem shrugged off his coat when a colder breeze blew past them. “It’s getting colder.” He placed his coat over Theo’s shoulders and watched her for a moment there. The moon hung high up in the sky, casting shadows over their faces and painting Theo’s hues a different shade of hazel from her usual one. “Damn, you’re so beautiful, Theo… I—” His fingers brushed her hair behind her ears and Kareem hesitated for a second there, as if silently asking for permission before dipping his head down and pressing his lips onto hers.

Time stood still, it seemed. His hand rested on the back of her neck as he deepened the kiss, and when Kareem slowly broke away from her embrace, it almost felt like his head was spinning. “I—have been wanting this for such a long time…”

Kareem spotted Theo in the crowd and he couldn't help but smile. It was no secret how much he found the florist beautiful, however, it was also no secret that their conversations had always had a friendly tone. Perhaps his charms didn't work on her, and, well... that was okay. He'd never been a person with a fragile ego in the first place, however, there was a part of him that sometimes wished his sly and flirty comments around Theodora were met in a less friendly way. "Looks like I'm the only one who didn't get the sexy costume memo, huh?" Kareem teased, indicating that Theo's one was indeed sexy. "Hey, T." He leaned in, pressing a gentle kiss on her cheek as his hand ghosted over the small of her back just for that brief moment of the interaction. "You and Robin came in with matching clothes? You guys look really good." If only he'd found friends who had agreed on dressing up as Gojo or even Itadori would be nice. "Think I can keep you company for a bit?"

Kareem couldn't help but laugh as he spotted Calahan in the crowd   ,   loooking completely and utterly uncomfortable in the black clothes and white collar he'd been sporting. As he approached his old friend, he reached up to adjust Cal's collar with a smirk. "It's how they say: you can take the Irishman of the catholic church, but you can't take the catholic church of the Irishman." He chuckled at his own, stupid joke. "I think I might have seen Liam earlier? He's an angel, yeah? Are you guys all themed? Is Kanda the little devil on your shoulder?" Again, Kareem teased, gently nudging Cal with his elbow. The Banshee had always been so fiercely protective of Cal, it was nice to see. Like one would protect family from any harm that might come to happen. "Come on, man, cheer up a little. You look like the collar is choking you. It's okay to relax, you know? No one's judging you for wearing that. I mean, I'm an anime character who kills demons, but you don't see me going around doing that." He explained, his hand resting gently on Calahan's shoulders and giving it a light squeeze. "Relax. Breathe. Would you like some beer?"

Kareem wasn't exactly sure why,    but he knew Liam wasn't his biggest fan. Whatever had happened between Calahan and him, had happened so long ago and there was no trace left of it in their friendship, so he couldn't understand why the merman's feelings towards him were of such distaste. Kareem cracked his neck as he stepped in line to place an order for himself and Eloise. It had been a while since the professor had claimed that he knew El's order, so, while the younger witch didn't arrive, he figured he could surprise her. But then, the entrance door chimed announcing someone's arrival and the shift in the air announced Eloise to him, as well as the person behind the counter greeting the younger witch by her first name. Kareem smiled as she moved closer, wrapping one arm around her shoulders and pulling her close to plant a kiss on the crown of her head.

"How's everything going at the bakery, kid?" Yes, yes, he knew she was no longer the child that had arrived in Portum, but it was an old habit that Kareem hadn't been able to shake off. "And you? How are things going with you? Ready for a well-deserved break?"
