closed: @casualscx connection: lyra is berk's nanny and can't stand the tension between them !
the girls had been down for a while now, and she was seated on the couch, book in hand as she waits for berk to get home. it's no uncommon for his daughters to be in bed by the time he comes home, leaving lyra time to herself.
she looks around the home, trying to keep herself from imagining herself there full time - which sometimes it feels that way anyway. her feet are curled up under her, attention turning as the door swings open. with odd eagerness, she almost bounces off the couch, pausing to check her enthusiasm as she approaches him. "hey! the girls have been asleep for a little over an hour." she dives into her day with them. "did you have a good day? work going okay?" she asks, stepping closer to him, but being mindful of the distance, hoping her flaming cheeks don't give her away.

her heart swells at his compliment. lyra loved being a nanny, and she especially loved being his nanny. it was easy, his girls kind and fun and it never felt like a chore. and of course, it didn't hurt that her boss was hot, and nice. sometimes she liked to pretend that he looked at her as more than just the nanny, but she was always quick to temper these thoughts. it was too preposterous. "well i love being around them, they're great kids really." she reassured him with a genuine smile.
she pauses, looking at him as she contemplates his question. really she should make her leave, that would be the polite and professional thing to do. yet lyra couldn't bring herself too, always enjoying berk's presence. "honestly...i've only been in a hot tub like...once?" lyra admits sheepishly with a shrug. "but i don't...i don't have a swimsuit with me." she tries to reason though the idea of soaking in the warm water sounds delightful. without realizing it she had wandered a bit closer to berk, hands resting lightly on the counter. "plus i don't want to be a bother to you, i'm sure you need some me-time."
a smile forms along his features, it's faint but still there, as he follows her back into the kitchen. "no no, please don't." he quickly shakes his head. "i like it, makes this feel like a home, not just some place i go when i'm not working. and the girls..." he glances to the cookie, a warmth forming in his chest, something he wasn't expecting. this never really happened with sera, so he wasn't all that used to it. but it seemed like the girls were happy and honestly, that was what mattered most. "clearly the girls love having you around."
he rested against the counter, still unwinding from the day he had. "i'll be sure to act surprised in the morning when they run up to me to give me my cookie." he smirks. "you're a natural, you know. with kids." he wasn't really sure why he was telling her that, it's not like it would change anything, but it felt right, like she deserved to hear it. "can i get you anything? you hungry? i'm sure you need to relax just as much as i do. hell, i'm even thinking about jumping into the hot tub for a bit before i head to bed." perhaps it wasn't so wise but after the idea pops into his head, he offers, "you should join me, great way to wind down."

"i can stop, if you'd like." she offers a bit to quickly when he mentions getting used to seeing her greet him. her fingers pick at each other, nerves rushing through her hoping that she was good for him - because he was her boss of course. because she liked taking care of his daughters and wanted to make them all happy. lyra was always a bit too much of a people pleaser.
she tries not to watch as he clearly decompresses, removing his tie and unbuttoning his top, peaking her interest. she stands in the same place, easy smile as he continues on. "no, they were honestly so lovely. we did some ready, made some crafts and oh!" finally spurred from her spot she heads back to the kitchen. "we made some cookies and they decorated this one especially for you." she indicates to a messily yet lovingly decorated cookie for him. "it's just a sugar cookie, they wanted to see your face when you ate it - if you're not above eating cookies for breakfast could be fun tomorrow." she adds.
she was a sight for sore eyes - especially after the day he'd had. he was grateful to come home to her. he was always so thankful that she was such a big part of his life and of his daughters' lives, they needed a woman in their life ever since sera had left and considering he wasn't the best at being a dad, lyra made up for what he couldn't be.
"long, too f-ing long." he was visibly tense, in desperate need of letting off steam. "sorry, still getting used to seeing you greet me like this." a smile tugs at the corner of his lips. it was something sera never did, and it was nice, it felt like coming home, like having a family again. which was probably weird to think considering they weren't family. "had some issues with air traffic, and per usual, the client was a dick about it." he stepped further into his place, tugging at the tie around his neck and intuitively unbuttoning the top few buttons, forgetting that wasn't typical around the nanny. "you didn't have you wait up, you know." still, his smirk never drops. "the girls didn't drive you crazy today, did they?"
