Trouble. Sora was starting to think that nickname applied more to Georgie than it did with him. He felt his breath hitch at how close she was, "Um...yeah I'd say it is," he said eyes flickering down for a brief second and hyper aware of how close she really was to him. It wouldn't take much to close the gap between them if he leaned down, still something had him pausing. "I know I was joking about drowning for a kiss, but how are my odds looking if I skip the drowning part?" he asked eyes flickering back up to hers.
Georgie was beginning to understand that Sora had been holding back how charming he could be, likely because of how withholding she was, and that made her feel oddly cared for in a way that she had not expected. Realising that he likely could have had her falling hard and fast and hadn't did make it seem less likely that he was playing her for shits and giggles. "Well, you know what happens after the hero rescues the damsel," she started, stepping closer until she was right in his space again. "He rescues her right back." Cocking her head to the side, she held his gaze as she stayed in that spot, not showing any signs of backing down. "That romantic enough for you, Trouble?"

valentin was good at this. the afterparties, the small talk, the easy charm. he could glide through these rooms without missing a beat, all smiles and smooth answers, never letting anyone see more than he wanted to show. it was part of the job, really. fame came with a set of rules, and he had mastered them. keep it light, keep it fun, and above all—keep it distant. but then he saw her. he didn’t expect her to be here, not tonight. Not at this kind of party. he should’ve looked away. walked in the opposite direction, found someone else to charm, someone who wasn’t as quick to see through his act. but he didn’t. instead, he found himself drifting toward her, glass in hand, slipping into that familiar, easy rhythm without thinking. it was like muscle memory at this point — the way their conversations played out, the teasing, the banter. he almost enjoyed it, the way she always gave as good as she got, never backing down. " look at what the cat dragged in," the male male teased, " i didn't know you'd be here tonight. " / @obsesionadas .

moments I love in "Tempting Fête"
"I can only read what I've got written down, Mr. Funt." "Councilor Funt! -Funn, Councilor Funn."
the fact that it's been 11 years of this Funn/ Funt debate (alternatively, that both the reverend and the mayor have addressed him properly the last three episodes and seemed to have no problem with it)
"Yes, well, I'll see what I'm doing that day" -leading the funeral, one would hope?
underrated bit of the series in general: cell service only being available in the reverend's bathroom
"I think he's quite dishy" (this scratches such an itch in my brain; I quote it once a week)
the mayor and reverend (who will be dating by the end of the episode) agreeing emphatically with the above statement
the reverend wearing eye shadow! (incredible, show stopping, spectacular, never been seen before)
"It was one mouse! and, and I don't know anything about it"
"All opposed?" "... I mean, I'd say opposed is a strong word-" "Done! Carried unanimously!"; "All opposed? "I, uh-" "Overruled! Motion carried!"
"We already have an identity: it's miserable and it works." (i want this on a t-shirt)
"There hasn't been a fête for eleven years." "Astonishing. Who's in charge of local events?" "Rudyard." "Ah."
"Look, it's easy to throw money around and get excited about rustic dancing, but we've got-" "I'LL SAY IT IS!"
"His world had once again become an increasingly scary place. There was only one thing left to do..." "Georgie?" "Yeah?" "We're emigrating."; "It was time for swift and decisive action, and there was only one place to head for: Reverend Wavering's bathroom"; at the funeral I was able to witness Rudyard, bereft of Reverend and with few attendees, deliver a stirring and entirely improvised speech about the circuities of fate, the struggles of discord, and an intractable acceptance of the way the cookie crumbles, a sermon that moved the late Basil Corbett’s niece to say, quite simply:" "We want our money back" (some really fantastic narration moments in this one that make me giggle every time)
Rudyard including Madeleine in the emigration plans is said so sweetly and it honestly makes me a little soft
"One word: Chapman." "I should return his calls-" "Chapman?" "- probably won't, though"
"Rudyard, other people do those things for you!" "Conscription?" "Volunteering!"
"I, I, I do like spreadsheets!"
(No Madeleine, I hate raffles!") (these posts are always so Rudyard-centric lol and it's helped me come to the conclusion that he really is the funniest)
"Do you know how many gallons of fluid I'll have to drain from a man that size? Possibly thousands!" "What a ridiculous lie!" (this is another one that I quote often lol)
"I wish I were Mrs. Carnegie!" "You will be, Mrs, Turner. You will be." (WHAT IS THIS RESPONSE?!)
"Fancy a funeral?" "That a threat?"; "Don't forget your funeral." "Was that a threat?"
"Socializing? That'd take up ten minutes and then what would they do? No. Perpetual scheduled activity, that's the way."
"Put some clothes on!" "IT'S MY HOUSE!"
"Antigone?" "What?!" "Helicopters!" "Go back to your side of the table."
"Now get over there and sabotage something!" "*sigh* Fine." "Do you really think that's going to help?" "Oh maybe not, but it'll cheer me up."
"Called up the family, made up a story about... well, re-organizing a fête, that sort of thing." "How did they react?" "Well, they weren't very happy..." "But?" "No, that's it, they weren't very happy."
"You know, I can actually see your future." "Oh yes?" "Mmm hmm. And it involves this crystal ball getting shoved STRAIGHT up your-"
"Alright sir! Mission accomplissshhhhed." "Hello, Georgie." "Hello..." "Get out, Georgie." "Goodbye..."
The Mayor trying to rustic dance for a couple of hours before giving up
Lady Templar's glass eye. (That's it. That's the post.)
"He'd be spinning in the grave you haven't put him in yet!" (best line of the episode honestly)
"What a dreadful little man!" "Yes... mind you, he looks good in a suit"
"Even in a crowd, they all look lonely" (🤌🤌🤌)
"Can't win 'em all" 'Winning anything at all would be a nice change." (also want this on a t-shirt)
"You like to be the hero, don't ya?" (Georgie's the GOAT)
"Rudyard. Do you know what this chap did?" "Yes, he told me" (my man is already so tired of Eric lol)
#wooden overcoats#chapgone#it's in the subtext#i'm back on my bullshit#these get longer every time#and i'm not even sorry about it#this series is the single thread holding me together right now#still the best#Rudyard Funn#Antigone Funn#Georgie Crusoe#Eric Chapman#Mayor Desmond Desmond#Reverend Wavering#Lady Templar#Madeleine

"There you fuckin' are," Jäger hissed under his breath, grabbing Georgie's wrist to get her attention - not hard, just enough to pull her attention from whoever she had been chatting with. Because clearly, whatever he had to talk to her about was far more important. "We need a drink, and we need to chat." Waving at Karma to come get them something, he turned back to her. "Did you see that smoke show I walked in with? We're like... actually together. I noticed you're not here with anyone specifically, who am I talking you up to?"

@scribedhorror gets a starter because I'm having father/son feels
". . .Dad, you've seriously gotta say something, because I'm starting to think you hate it," Georgie blurted out after several minutes of silence as the elder Denbrough read through the script Georgie had written for one of his books that already had a very bad film adaptation.
"I-I tried to follow it as closely as I could. I know the parts of the movie you hate, and the stuff you wish they hadn't taken out, and I. . . It's okay if you don't like it, I can rewrite it!" He'd never been so nervous for his dad to read something he'd written, but considering it was adapting the man's own work, there was a lot more riding on this; for the first time, Georgie was seeking approval along with spell checking, and that wasn't something he'd ever worried about before.

“are you ready?” lila has found herself both literally and metaphorically holding georgie’s hand as they step out of the car together. it had been lila’s idea to go out tonight to celebrate georgie’s latest release, tugging the blonde along to a local bar known for its queer scene. in all honesty, lila had almost expected more protest and they wouldn’t blame georgie in the slightest. the two have grown closer the more they work together, and lila has found herself all too fond of the other— perhaps too fond. for now, their only intention remains to make sure georgie feels comfortable, feels supported through something lila knows must feel daunting. they give her hand a slight squeeze, smiling warmly as they walk. “you can always change your mind too. just give me a little pinch and we’ll head out, okay?”

"What aren't you telling me?" Georgie asked cocking an eyebrow at the young arms dealer in front of her. The deal she was offering Georgie seemed too good to be true, there had to be some sort of catch — right?

starter call. accepting @isbrilliant
❝ c'mere. you hit your head pretty hard. ❞ so did she, for that matter, but the only way georgie can stay calm in tense situations -- and this, being cut off from UNIT and donna's doctor and all of it, is certainly tense -- is by focusing on other people. there's no section or platoon for her to look after here, but there is donna, who georgie knows only by name. well, they're going to get to know each other now, aren't they? fucking hell.
she crouches in the rubble in front of donna and forces a smile. it doesn't look real. ❝ alright if i touch you? doesn't look like anything i'd need me kit for. which...is good, seeing as i don't have it. ❞
#isbrilliant#GEORGIE LANE / ic.#GEORGIE LANE / verse / dw.#the thing is......i could write donna a starter from literally every muse i've vaguely thought about a dw au with#brain goes brr with ideas#this is like being trapped in a snowstorm bonding au except it's alien shenanigans#idk they got shunted through a portal or smth do i look like someone who plans my threads

"So I get to see you again after this?" Sora quipped back, stuffing his hand back into his pockets. If he was honest talking to a pretty girl wasn't how he expected to end having a near panic attack in the woods but he was far from complaining. For a second he stared blankly at her before he was grinning and shaking his head, "Ok so you're a lot cooler than me, good to know." Shrugging he ran a hand through his hair, "Consider us even, wasn't trying to dump that on you, just not good at not half assing my answers." Recognizing where they were he gave her a small wave, "Thanks for bringing me back, I'll try not to make a habit of it," pausing he gave her another grin, "No promises though."
"Eh, wait until you get to know me, we'll see if you still feel lucky then," Georgie replied with a wink, keeping her tone lighthearted in spite of how self-deprecating her words were. Her teasing smile took on a more sincere quality when he burst out laughing, feeling strangely relieved that he had found her comment more entertaining than insulting, her gaze dropping to his wrist when he showed her the smart watch.
"Oh, shit," she said for the second time, looking forward as they approached the edge of town. She spent a few seconds wondering what to say to that before shrugging. "I set my ex-boyfriend's stuff on fire when he cheated on me," she said casually before looking over at him with a wry grin. "Sorry, I know that was random. But I learned a lot about you in a very short amount of time. Felt like I needed to even the playing field."

"You know what we should do? We should have a Seance!" When's the last time, the three of them did something together that didn't end in one of them naked, hungover, or behind bars in a really ugly orange jumpsuit? Probably not since Mich's bachelorette party.

ㅤ“ I can still play on it, it's not that bad, ” Penny says, like she's the medic in this situation and not Georgie. She's sat by the training field, the only sign that she's in pain being the frown on her face, though this could equally be due to Georgie telling her that she'll have to take a few days' rest. “ Come on, we're playing United tomorrow. ”

Years ago, a place like this would be a dream come true for Ozan. Free food, free drinks, nice clothes. In fact, he was a little surprised that this was his first time attending one of these. But it was, and despite being a pretty social person, the amount of people that continued to show up was beginning to become a little overwhelming. When that happened, Ozan knew he had to find some of his closest friends and perhaps sit for a while instead of roaming around the place and talking to everyone that he knew.
After finishing his glass of water, Ozan grabbed a champagne glass and began walking around. He spotted Georgie only a few steps away, in a conversation with someone's parents by the look of it and with a bored expression on her face. At least he wouldn't be interrupting anything important. With that mind, Ozan walked over to the small group and apologized for having to take Georgie away as he had something important to tell her.
Once they had turned away from the older couple, Ozan offered her the glass of champagne he'd gotten just for her and smirked widely. "Figured you could use a break from all the small talk, don't say I never do anything nice for you." He looked around and then back at her, trying to find a table to sit at. "Who do you want to bid on you tonight, by the way. I will also sabotage whoever you don't want to bid on you if you need me to, but I draw the line at bidding for you. That would be all sorts of weird, no offense."

@scribedhorror continued from here
Georgie's shoulders relaxed as his dad rubbed up and down his back. He looked at his dad, a little sullenly, despite the words of encouragement. "You're my dad, you have to say that," he sighed. He ran a hand through his hair. "My reading's a lot better, especially if I don't have a time limit. . . But my spelling's still shit, no matter how hard I try." It was frustrating, to say the least; Georgie always knew what he was trying to say, but he couldn't always put it on paper in a way that was clear to other people. "Spellcheck doesn't help much when the word is technically a word, but it's just the wrong word."
