Garrett thought he'd seen it all and then there was this woman stomping around the farm in heels. The Turners took turns helping the neighboring farm out whenever they were home from their missions. It was a small price to pay for the security of their compound, which in this case simply included anonymity, but unlike most of the brothers, Garrett happened to prefer their farm to the compound's. So, more often than not, he was the sibling taking on the chores that were asked of them. "Ma'am, you're gonna wanna stop right there." He was pulling off his heavy gloves the second that he'd tossed a bale of hay from his truck to the pile he'd been amassing. "Ma'am, now just hold on a minute." Garrett was quickly closing the distance to her, body glistening with sweat as she kept moving around on those city girl shoes. "It's gravel, sweetheart. You'll break your neck if you try and walk around here on those." Having never seen her before, his eyebrows were knit together and a wall already up. "You lost or...?" His eyes darted to the car she'd emerged from, the driver pulling out luggage. Someone new moving in next door, regardless of the acreage was definitely going to be something the Turners would have to look into. "I'm Garrett."

With his thumbs hooked into his belt loops, Garrett mulled over her question. "I'm not sure about just every day boots for women, but I'll ask Momma tonight and get back to you if you want to give me your number. Riding boots and workin' boots there's a shop downtown that all everyone goes to, really can't miss it because it's got a big ole boot on the sign, bulb lights lining it and everything. You gonna need a ride into town?" Still not wanting to mention his brothers, he knew that there were plenty of Turners available to give her a lift regardless of the tasks he needed to get done.
Raising an eyebrow at the confidence with which she said she could help he nodded and swallowed down his skepticism. His mom would smack him on the back of the head for judging her for how she'd shown up in heels. "Boots first, then I can show you some things that need to get done around here. I bounce between my ranch and offering a hand on this farm as I have time. You staying long? It would be good for them to have the extra hands and extra company."
"My..." Danika looked down at her feet in confusion. She supposed that she could see how he would be worried about her ankles, but then again Garrett knew nothing about her and the fact that heels were normal for her. She could probably run across this ranch in heels and not even so much as tweak anything. She had other shoes somewhere in her luggage, but that would require sifting through tons of belongings, and she wasn't too keen on opening up everything and making a mess of all she'd packed to find something suitable. Before she could even respond, she heard his words and processed them right when she was lifted from the ground with a little squal. "What?!"
His kind explanation was the only reason she wasn't swatting at him and allowed him to carry her over. She steadied herself easily on the step and watched him like he was crazy as he got her things. "Yeah... if they don't have any I'll just go get some. I mean, in all honesty, I really should get my own boots anyway since I plan on being here for a while. You know a good place to buy some good boots?" She asked curiously. He would know better than her. Her eyes tracked his movement as he backed away. "I should be good, but I feel like I should thank you for helping me out. I owe you one. If you ever need help I can always try to help out too? I'm tougher than I look and I'm going to need things to keep me busy." At least... she thought she was tougher than she looked. She was athletic, worked out a lot, she used to help out in this ranch when she was little so nothing grossed her out. However, there was plenty she knew she wasn't familiar with. Not to mention, she needed to figure out her life and next steps and anything that kept her busy would be a welcome change of pace.

Garrett tried to mind his manners; his momma raise him right, after all, but this beautiful woman was driving him crazy. "It ain't the shoes I'm worried about, Dani. It's your ankles." He swallowed moving his eyes from her to the luggage. "Unless you have another pair of shoes in there then I must insist you let me help you to the house." Garrett pulled his pulled his shirt out of his back pocket where it had been hanging, pulling it his sweaty form. When she hadn't answered him or started pulling some type of flat shoe out of the luggage he stepped closer. "With all do respect, Ma'am. I'm gonna need you to not slap me for this and understand it's for your own good."
Unceremoniously, scooping her up bridal style with minimal effort, Garrett walked briskly across the long expanse of the drive between the house and barn, setting her on the bottom steps. "I'll grab the luggage." He was already turning away before she should protest or follow him and pulled out rope making quick work of bringing that over to her in stacks of three. "I'm sure they've got boots that'll fit you, but if you need anything at all they've got my number. I'm one of the neighbors." Was it selfish that he didn't mention his brothers, maybe, but it wasn't like they regularly came over to help either. "I've got some more work to do before I head home, if you're good here?" He pointed his thumb over his shoulder as he backed away, pulling his shirt back off to head back to the bales of hay.
Danika had seen and had enough of everything. Living in the city, dealing with celebrities, and getting wrapped up in their drama, most times unwarranted, was more than she'd bargained for. When she had moved to the city ages ago, she had set out to make a name for herself. Being an event planner, and wedding planner had been a grind at first, but nobody had anticipated how hard she would work. She quickly gained a reputation as THE woman to contact if someone wanted to plan an event, especially a wedding. Danika made dreams come true, and then heightened them beyond their wildest dreams to make it unforgettable. Since her reputation had been excellent, it meant her clients were often important people and celebrities. It wasn't until one particular event introduced her to someone who used her to create paparazzi drama that she decided that she'd had enough and it was time to go.
Going back to her hometown and parents wasn't an option. She didn't feel like listening to the lectures about how she'd put herself in another person's web of games. Instead, she thought about the complete seclusion she could get if she went back to her grandparents' ranch. She hadn't been since she was a kid, but she remembered the peace that came with being busy on a ranch surrounded by animals but not as many people. With her grandparents agreeing she could stay with them, she packed her things up and drove hours upon hours to get there. Danika was thinking only of one thing as she stepped out of her car, dragging suitcases behind her as she trekked through dirt and mud. Not until a stranger appeared next to her covered in sweat and introducing himself, did she stop.
"Nice to meet you, Garrett. Don't worry about my shoes, I could care less what I step in." They were a gift given to her by an asshole she would rather forget anyway. The more ruined they were at the end of it all, the better. "I'm Danika, by the way. Some call me Dani, or Nik." Those people were few and far between since she'd lived in the city, but he didn't need to know it.
