who: @kianmarq when: as the power goes out, oct 1 where: the beach
Jacqui had quickly found the beach one of their favorite places on campus to slip off too when it was quiet, for some time for themselves - headphones in, volume all the way up, more often than not a joint in hand (and if not, definitely their vape). It was exactly where they found themselves, sprawled out in the sand just beyond where the dim lighting of the path stretched. Even looking up at the stars in the dark sky, that were just starting to peek out, Jacqui sensed the flickering of the lights, their head turning towards the now-dark path in curiosity. They particularly enjoyed that the beach was mostly empty, but there had been a couple other students milling about last Jacqui checked, their eyes scanning over the dark beach to try and pick out the form of another person. Not seeing anyone immediately, Jacqui bounded up to their feet, joint tucked behind an ear, already shaking their head. “Nope, nope, this some horror film shit,” they said out loud, looking for their phone to turn on their flashlight.

who: @walshparker when: probs just past midnight-ish??? where: somewhere out and about on campus
Courtney was wandering campus in the dark. It wasn’t the first time he had done such a thing, prone to fits of insomnia, so the power outage didn’t really bother him. It was more the lack of alternatives that was grating on his nerves. At this point, he was practically just tracing circles around the quad, when he heard footsteps ahead of him. He flicked his phone’s flashlight on - not caring too much about the battery (if it died, it died) - and lifting it to illuminate whoever was coming in his direction, a grin instantly spreading across his face when he saw it was Parker. “If it isn’t my favorite redhead,” he said in a coo, practically trotting the last few steps to her and dramatically throwing his arms around her, using his momentum to spin her in a circle. “Just the person I would love to keep me company.”

who: @gabemonroe where: outside the gym  when: evening of oct 1, sometime early during the night of the blackout
Sassa was heading out of the gym, thoroughly disconcerted from the fact that the lights were still out, her eyes rapidly scanning the short area of dark she could see in front of her, feeling like she was about to be the first victim in a horror movie as she stepped out of the building onto the campus path. She hadn’t gotten very far into the quad when the shape of a figure became visible in the dark, Sassa freezing in place, eyes squinting as she tried to make out who it was, an exhale accompanying the realization of who it was, her shoulders slumping slightly. Normally, she wouldn’t be as delighted to see an ex-boyfriend, but Gabe was a relief when the campus was otherwise downright creepy. “I don’t know if I’ve ever been so glad to see you,” she said, her voice low, like speaking too loudly would somehow disturb the darkness. “Creepy as fuck out here, with no lights.”

who: @ironlvngs when: a couple hours after the blackout where: still the quad
The sound of footsteps echoing through the dark quad was eerie, Mari instantly freezing in place - though the rational part of her mind was saying obviously it’s just another student on their way back to their dorms, without the visual confirmation of that, it was easy to start imagining worst case scenarios as well. She blinked a few times as her eyes scanned the darkness, the type of darkness that didn’t make it any easier to see, though eventually, thanks to the light of the stars and moon or whatever - and she supposed since she had been outside for a while and had somewhat adjusted (between peeking at her phone, desperately trying not to waste the battery and probably using it that much faster in her fixation on checking it), she saw the frame of someone walking closer, realizing after another few steps it was Link. “Jesus, I’m so glad it’s you,” Mari said, exhaling out loudly. “This place is fucking creepy in the dark.”

Blackout.
If there was one thing the students of the academy knew how to do well, it was to delegate tasks as quickly as possible. Only moments after the confusion of how they suddenly ended up in Fhiridad dissipated, teams were sent off in search of Lord Dimitri and Linhardt, others were sent to provide defense against the oncoming Imperial troops, and more were sent into the district to find what they could. In the blink of an eye, Kana was left standing alone with a mere few others.
They could not afford to stand and do nothing.
“Miss Tethys!" Thank the gods he knew her from their previous mission. “And... Mister Lloyd, right? Everyone else has their jobs, but I think it’s our mission to figure out what that... vision we saw was.”
By then, the group’s shared visions were commonplace. No one questioned it anymore, they all understood that whatever was going on, they were all linked in some way, shape, or form.
“We saw Lord Dimitri and Linhardt, so I think it’s safe to assume that the third thing is another person.” It made sense to him, at least. “What was it that we heard that voice say? Something about... power waning, and then, I think something along the lines of help?”
Brows furrow as the puzzle pieces are made clear, but so far, none of them fit together. Many more remain missing from the set.
“Whatever it is, it’s gotta be in the castle, right? Where should we start?”

who: @jessehart where: the gym when: earlyish in the blackout
Sassa had been working out - yes, she had already gone for a run and had tennis practice, but Milo’s comments that day had gotten under her skin. So she was at the gym. Working out. Her airpods were in, music up all the way as she went through her exercises, about two thirds of the way through when the lights went out. Bizarre. She didn’t need light, not really - it was free weights and exercise machines. It’s not like they needed power, either. She was sure that by the time she was finished, the lights would be back on, anyways. But apparently....that was wrong. She finished her workout, no sign of the lights turning back on, gathering her things up with a sigh so she could make her way back to her dorm.
Tumblr media
As she made her way through the gym, almost to the exit door, she nearly tripped over someone’s gym bag that she hadn’t seen (considering the power was still out), a surprised yelp leaving her lips. She glanced up, thankful that she was at least alone, only to realize she wasn’t, the surprise of seeing someone else in the darkness causing her to jump back, a sharp intake of breath as she realize who it was - Jesse Hart. “Fuck, you scared the shit out of me,” Sassa said, her hand over her heart as she took a few deep breaths, eying him for a few moments. She knew who he was - of course - but she wasn’t sure if he could say the same. Other than Gabe’s ex-girlfriend, or something along those lines. “I thought I was alone,” she said after a second, vaguely wondering what he was still doing there. “Are the lights out in this whole place?”

who: @montyrichler when: def late into the blackout, like past midnight probs where: starting in coco’s room, then ig becomes degenerates lurking around campus somewhere???
Court never thought he had any problem with his attention span - no, he never had issues sitting still, focusing on things, completing tasks. He had watched all eleven and a quarter hours of The Lord of the Rings movies in one day before - he could do all of those things. Until it came to sitting still, with his phone’s battery slowly draining away (19%), no TV, no light (god dammit, why did he have a flashlight that wasn’t linked to his phone that needed to be charged), nothing to do. Except wait for the lights to come back on. He was growing antsier by the hour, finally readying himself to take a double dosage of the painkillers from his accident last year and knock himself out for a few hours.
Except for the bottle was empty.
Tumblr media
“Fuck,” Court hissed, pegging the empty bottle at the wall behind him with the force and precision of an athlete, one of their hands pushing their hair back as he let out a loud sigh, checking his phone again (18%), and quickly deciding that it would be worth using some to shoot a message off to Monty, the dealer he was familiar with, if only loosely - when you were friends with Greer, you ended up knowing pretty much everyone (especially when you partied with her). He needed some sort of oxy, or perc, or something stat. He was sure the male was in high demand that night, but he set off out of his room without waiting for an answer, not caring where on campus he was, already going for whenever he did get a text back, ready to pretty much rush to Monty’s side, sure that even if he didn’t get an answer, and some point, he’d find someone who knew where he was.
