Mariah was bent over with a quizzical brow knitted together looking at the fire-licked tulips. Her sketchbook balanced on her bent knee and her hands were smeared with graphite. She wanted to get the shape just right of the petals. She’s never been able to see it in the wilds. She was so focused on her drawing that she didn’t realize that her leg fell asleep. She fell over on her ass onto the gravel path. Her face went from focused to laughter. She let out some German expletives between chuckles. “Oi,” she got up dusting off her jeans. “I’ll have to walk it off then.”
