thinking that Xarentia's Mouthpieces - the highest of sworn who scour worlds and speak with her authority - will only reveal their presence when they are certain that contact is to be made with that world ( hence their reputation as omen / heralding the Empress ). they choose who is considered the best point of contact for the Great Mother's plans. these are not always world leaders. sometimes it is a rebellion whom She will support and use to get a hold - othertimes it is but a culture through which She will weave herself into their myths for later. furthermore, these assume the most direct contact. most of the time her brood lies the groundwork through subterfuge and deception, long before the Mouthpiece deems a world ready. you won't know there are ancient dragons among your people until they choose to reveal themselves ( barring the occasional exception, of course ). adjacently, not everyone who meets one of these Mouthpieces will know they speak of dragons and earthen behemoths. but regardless of their form, they do have clothing and jewelry that is considered ceremonial to a degree; the appearance of regality and wealth, by many people's standard. ( I'm playing with the idea of a fabric woven from elementium, a mineral unique to the elemental planes and one of the sturdiest in existence. ) being Her most trusted sworn, they have been under the Mother's wing for so long, Her overflowing essence has uplifted - changed - them into drakonids and dragonspawn* (collectively referred to as dragonkin), depending on their original physiology. sometimes purposely, but usually as a mere byproduct of serving Her for centuries. they will never be true dragons, but the Mouthpieces in particular have a decent repertoire of magic from their transformation and Her Majesty's boon alike. * The first dragonkin were created eons ago by the Dragon Aspects. although new ones can be uplifted at any time, those from ages ago have long become their very own species with an established culture and society, capable of reproducing by laying eggs. there are plenty of them among Her empire, handling much of the things on the ground ( trade / maintenance / security etc. Just like in Valdrakken! ).
