✒ BACKGROUND: In 1729, somewhere in the North American Cordillera, on the Northern Canadian West coast region that is now known as British Columbia, Francis Cuthbert was born to an ex-English-colonist and a French métis mother, both wolves. He was followed by five siblings; four girls and the youngest, another boy. The small pack he grew in was hidden in the mountains, yet welcomed everyone as long as they were wolves. The pack itself held a strong belief in protecting their own while promoting peace and parley instead of violence and war. Most of their contact with humans was kept to the natives, while remaining away from the colonists.

It was a simple and happy life for the Cuthberts.

Time passed and this sense of righteousness grew stronger in Francis, who decided to enlist in the provincial police (BCPP) with falsified papers, not long after it was formed in 1858. Later on, in 1925, he switched to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) as it would permit him to be closer to his family and pack without raising too many questions. He loved feeling that he was working in a field that protected others, and lived by the motto of the RCMP: Maintiens le droit (Defending the Law). But due to his species, he was eventually forced to retire, but kept the knowledge he had acquired to continue to protect his family and pack.

Decades moved on, and all was still well for the pack until tragedy finally struck in 1998. During a peculiarly cold day in winter, the small pack was attacked by a vampire clan who took away more than three-quarters of the pack as prisoners, while leaving the corpse of the Alpha behind. Francis and his father had been among those absent during the attack, but upon their return, the remaining part of the pack left to track where the others had been taken.

It took them 18 years to track them all down; by then, half of those lost had been retrieved, until they made their way to a large city that had enslaved Francis’s family and the remaining members of the pack. The Beta, now in charge, demanded to speak with the authorities of the city. And so, outside of the city, the rest of the pack met to parley with the two rulers who refused to return their packmates unless they were paid for. An argument broke out, and when The Beta was killed out of the blue, Francis’s father told his son to run and find another way to save their family.

As he ran away with a few other packmates, Francis heard the screams of their dying pack behind them, as they fought to ensure the escape of the only hope left to save the youngsters. Only six survived that massacre, each going to a specific continent across the world, hoping to find a solution with the help of powerful allies.

After a year-and-a-half of searching, Francis heard of Covaire City, a place that used to be similar to the city that had taken his family, but that had now abolished slavery. With all the money he had left, he sought an audience with the Alpha (Attila) who accepted to meet him after learning it was a family matter. Francis explained what had happened to his pack and was welcomed within the city’s pack as a client. Because of his experience within the police, he was made team leader of one of the SWAT teams at the CCPD, with his salary triple that of the highest one could earn in a regular city, due to the risk of the job. The Alpha also offered him the chance to do small errands for him that would also earn extra money; those would often consist - when requested - of getting rid of someone.

A spy was sent to the other city to ensure his family would remain alive, while Francis now works night and day to free his mother and five siblings.

He’s been in Covaire City since late March.

✒ PERSONALITY: Francis wasn’t always the way he is now, but his father’s sacrifice and the loss of his mother and five siblings awakened a raging devotion to free them, making him violent in his day-to-day life. While targeted at his family’s captors, his anger can also stretch to others around him if they aren’t careful. Being a SWAT officer in Covaire is his way of getting the rage out. And while at time he’s rude and borderline mean to his own unit, Francis is known by his officers as someone fiercely loyal, who will always have your back. Those able to handle him as a leader, know that his team has the best track-record and never fails an intervention.

Outside of work, his fierce loyalty remains first to his family, then to the Alpha, who’s aware of Francis’s true endgame.

He’s a dominant wolf both at work and in his personal life. When it comes to people in general and especially escorts, he cannot stand crybabies or anyone who’s emotionally clingy.

He prefers the people he hangs out with not to judge his temper, and to be intelligent, loyal and with a minimum sense of humour.
