Having... OC thoughts......

So y'know how Ruby is this big hulking wolf monster with red eyes who lives in the middle of the woods in Phantom Grove. Lots of rumors get spread about the neighboring zones about a red-eyed beast scaring anyone who dares wander too deep in the forest, which gives them a bad rep

... Probably bc she literally does that to ppl but like. She has her reasons

After some time living with Edna, Eli, and the twins in Phantom Grove, it becomes one of the few places she feels truly safe in. In fact, it's probably the only place. It leads her to become a bit... possessive over the zone. Claiming it as "her" territory (the cat fam's too by extention) even though she doesn't have any real claim to the land, and stalking around to ensure strangers aren't encroaching on it even though they have every right to exist there. She never actually hurts ppl, just stares them down from the shadows and snarls and growls at them which is enough to get the average person to gtfo as fast as possible

This overprotectiveness extends somewhat to close family and friends, too. They're wary of anyone they see interact with those close to them, and get extremely anxious if they don't know the whereabouts of anyone they're close with (becoming friends with Sonic was actually kind of a nightmare for a while since he likes to fuck off with no way of contacting him Very Often. Inadvertently caused more than a few restless days and nights)

She's so deathly afraid of losing her family and her home again that it causes both her and her new family trouble, even if all she wants is to protect them. She slowly gets better abt it and learns that she doesn't need to protect them so obsessively, and that not every stranger is an immediate threat. Takes a long while tho
