Kyoko Kirigiri

aka, one of my favorite women ever. one, her design is AMAZING. oh my god. two, i love how shes such a complex character? on one hand, we have the kyoko thats always ~cool and composed~, never lets her feelings show, isnt afraid to touch dead bodies just to solve the case, etc. but then, we have her comforting naegi after trial one, saving and opening up to him after trial 5, trusting him with some extremely important info, getting angry after alter ego says that the headmaster is probably the mastermind, feels betrayed after makoto keeps secrets from her despite earlier saying he wont, talking to ryota about her feelings about makoto, sacrificing herself just to save him? amazing. immaculate. and thats only barely scratching the surface of how many-dimensional of a character she is. and i love her.

Mikan Tsumiki

oh lemme just. so at first, when you meet mikan, shes like. the stereotypical cutesy character, yeah? oh, shes so nice to everyone, she gets bullied but keeps being a sweetheart, shes shy and clumsy, all that. but then you hear her say that she relates to the feeling of wanting very gruesome revenge, or that she only became a nurse bc that way people are forced to talk to her, and you find out about her. VERY SERIOUS trauma, and youre like oh. and then she Remembers, KILLS TWO PEOPLE, and snaps at everyone and youre like OH. and thats only, like, the very beginning. besides, her design not only is very pretty, but is also one of the most fitting for her character. in this essay i will-

Toko Fukawa

alright so ima be honest with you, when i first played thh? i didnt like toko. like, at all. she was one of my most disliked characters from the cast but then her free time events and udg happened, and lemme say this, they are, so good. like, in fte you actually get a lot of answers about why toko acts the way she does and why she split, and her character in udg is just GODLY. like, i really love it bc she actually became much more likeable while still maintaining her sarcastic and sometimes even just outright rude attitude. i could talk about her for HOURS.

i'd say uni's worldview is close enough to the whole vongola founding philosophy, so i think she could be vongola decima :o she and the "I understand how you feel" might be able to help tsuna deal/cope? maybe? and i can't see anyone but arco!mukuro as capable of being a tutor LOL. but uni was fine with byakuran, she can deal with mukuro just as easily imo!

also honestly middle school arco is WAY more coherent than me and gakusei hitman reborn ft. dying chill bullet. thank you, i seriously needed to see the concept done more realistically lmao

ohhh uni as vongola decima, that sounds like fun. :o and yeah, her relationship with tsuna in this context would be super interesting to explore!

but also i read your ideas for this role swap too, and reborn as the heir is really fucking sending me lmao. just please imagine reborn at the head of the most powerful mafia family in the world, making him the most powerful man in the world. all bets are fucking off instantly, and he would NOT hesitate to do anything he feels like doing no matter what just to see what'd happen. and THEN you make his guardians the other arco??

it’s a complete disaster. a high-functioning one because they are the arco, and vongola actually thrives even if it looks like it’ll fall apart every other day, but still very much a disaster that’s all chaos left, right and center lmao.

would that make reborn a sky in this au tho? or vongola’s inheritance rules wouldn’t work the same in this au? you did say reborn wouldn’t actually have the blood of vongola in him.

(on that note, tsuna being an arco AND the heir of vongola still, and having vongola probably pester him to accept to take over the family is hilarious. the guy just CANNOT take a fucking break no matter what lmaooo.)

okay tutor!mukuro wouldn’t have been my first thought, but you know what, i really can see it actually. but you know who i thought of first? takeshi. and i know he’s canonically a shit teacher because he’s all about instinct lol, but i just feel like he’d be among the ones caring and really wanting to raise the next generation (tho mukuro absolutely makes it on this list too). and like you thought of too, tsuna too! and i feel like this could also help him deal with the curse in its own way.

ALSO if we go with decimo!reborn and tutor!tsuna like you planned to--i mean, do i even have to say it? that just sounds like a lot of fun. especially because reborn wouldn’t be a student the same way tsuna was, and tsuna wouldn’t be a tutor the same way reborn was because of their respective personality, and getting into how that’d change their dynamic from the canon one sounds incredibly interesting.

i’m glad it helped! tho i honestly think you could go either way, it just depends on what you plan to do with this au. but yeah, if you want to keep the same chaotic vibes canon!10th gen had, i really just think they have to be in middle school too lol.

“Do you listen to Girl in Red?”

“Oh! Um..I’ve heard about her.” The pop sensation turned to face you with a smile, though she seemed surprised by your question. She hugged her phone close to her chest. “But I never really listen to any of her stuff....o-only on occasion.”

“Only on occasion? Even though you got one of her full albums on there?” You chuckled as you pointed at her phone.

Shocked, Sayaka glanced at the screen, wondering if you were psychic. But she soon sighed in defeat as she took out her earbud. “A-Actually...lately I’ve been listening to her stuff more. The songs have helped me realize some..things.”

You sat beside her. “I see. Are you saying that...you think you...?”

“I-I might be..” She mumbled.

It was surprising to hear her admit that. You two were close friends, though as much as you had a crush on her, you didn’t know for sure. She’d always talk to you nonstop about Makoto and Leon.

But after hearing her revelation..you wondered if she only tried forcing herself like them, instead of being honest with herself..

Just so nobody would judge her. 

Sometimes you forgot she’s famous and worked hard to get to where she is now...so it was understandable that she kept certain feelings hidden from her group and the paparazzi. 

You nodded and smiled, seeing her rising blush as you moved closer to her. “It’s okay, Sayaka. I won’t ever judge you.”

“Th-Thanks, [y/n].”

“Girl in...Red?”

“Oh! I forgot you uh..don’t know many songs.” You awkwardly laugh, before joining Mukuro at the table and bringing up your phone’s music playlist. “She makes ones about romance and mental health. They might...help you figure out your love life. You did say you were struggling with that before, didn’t you?”

The Ultimate Soldier wasn’t sure how to respond. With her finally away from Junko’s influence, she was still trying to understand the world beyond despair. And you wanted to help her by showing her some music.

Though..another reason you wanted her to listen to this particular singer...was because you’ve had a crush on her for some time.

“Just listen to one of the songs.” You handed her your phone and headphones after bringing up the album. “Any one you’d like on that list.”

“.......”

“Please?”

“...okay.” Although hesitant at first, she finally chose a random song and put the headphones on as it played.

You returned to copying notes in your book, occasionally glancing back at Mukuro to see her reaction. Her face was blank for the most part, but at some point her eyes went wide and she was blushing a little.

‘Cute.’ You smiled lightly in amusement, though it was quick to falter when you saw her tearing up. 

Then she removed the headphones, giving them back to you with shaky hands.

“Muku?”

To your shock, the usually cold and stoic soldier...was now crying, tears rolling down her freckled cheeks..

“Hey, it’s okay.” Without even thinking, you set a hand over hers in comfort, which made her look at you. But there was a tiny smile on her face. And she made no effort to push your hand away.

“I...I liked it a lot.”

“Oh! You listen to Girl In Red?”

“A-AH!!!” The pen went flying in the air as Toko spun around in her chair to face you, clutching her chest. “D-Don’t sneak up on me like that!! Especially when I’m trying to focus!” She hissed.

“Sorry! Didn’t mean to startle you, I was just...surprised to know you listened to that singer.” You pointed to her phone, recognizing the album immediately.

She stared back at it for a long while, before huffing. “Yeah I listen to her stuff for inspiration sometimes, and also because....I......n-never mind. So what if I listen to her? You think I’m some filthy-?!”

“No, not at all!” You reassured her. Then you spotted her pen on the floor and picked it up, handing it back to her. “I’m glad you’re open about listening to her, especially if she’s inspiring you.”

Toko just nodded stiffly, her cheeks tainted pink as she took the pen from you. Though the dust that collected onto it made her sneeze.

“....oops-”

“Kyahahaha~!! Oh yeah!!” Sho cackled, spinning around in the chair as she snipped her trademark scissors. “Once I got’a taste of Girl In Red I just couldn’t get enough of it! I can listen to that shit on repeat all day!!!”

You sighed, causing her to stop her maniacal giggling as she faced you directly, her tongue lazily hanging out. “Ohh [y/n]! So glad you’re here~! Let this be our little secret, m’kay? But..ever since she started listening to it, too...she’s had the hots for ya!!”

a list of pent-up ranting would be more accurate actually

- just recently read the series to finish

- was an old fan who drop the series during tyl arc (right after irie introduced as “i’m on your side!” because that’s bullshit. entire tyl arc is bullshit. particularly byakuran (yes even after re-read, that’s still a bullshit)

- it gives legal age!guardians tho’ 

- I actually like the daily life arc 

- the most epic moment of Sawada Tsunayoshi, where he truly shines -  is not where he got all the epic skillzzzz with slick shounen moves and cool rings/pet evolution upgrade eleventy!!!!one. It’s during Kokuyo arc = you know, when after Lancia defeated, no more bulllet/weapons/and knowledge that dis mysterious Mukuro fellow is even more dangerous than Lancia - which took dying will bullet to defeat, which they don’t have anymore - and Tsuna still want to go confront Mukuro, because Mukuro must be stopped

- now compare that to tyl arc where he only interested in ‘how do I and the people I interested with can go back? oh you had suckz life here? well sucks to  be you and the future world. I just want to go back’ - which while might be your usual standard bystander (like mochida-senpai standard bystander), is very dissappointing for Tsuna that compelled with compassion in Kokuyo and Ring Battles to stand up against the villain. I don’t need the Ultra Hyper Super-Duper Dying Will Mode that makes you look cool with flame in your head and capable of demolishing super duper robot, Tsuna. You are fucking awesome when you told (under mind-control) Fuuta that it’s not his fault and it’s okay to come home. When you jeopardize your own ring to intervenes in Lambo vs Levi fight. When you shout at Gokudera to surrender because his life is more important than the storm ring battle outcomes (when you cries because you thought he died, never even thought of ‘oh another loss, I’m screwed’), when you witnessed 9th collapse due to xanxus’s scheme and declare that you will take the ring back.

- I think it’s rather sad that practically nobody close enough to Yamamoto to ever call his given name in this series (even the running away from home-Gokudera has Shamal. The only one that ever called Yamamoto by Takeshi is only his father and his fangirl, and the latter is practically doesn’t count)

- there’s already lots of unpopular opinion from the list above, but this might cross 1/3 on fandom: I don’t like Xanxus. Not because he behaves like a spoiled entitled bratty bocchama that bullies everybody (my favorite char is HIbari Kyoya and you can use that line to describe him), not because what he’d done to ninth during ring battles (putting him into gola mosca), but because he lay the blame on Tsuna. That’s a fucking grade SSS cowardice. I’m fairly okay if he’s stabbing Ninth (um, I have a bit of this psychopath problem), but for someone who boasted ‘I’m #1 strongest, you are all trash” and then trying to plant that knife on Tsuna’s backpocket, I can’t believe that’s fucking coward, man! It seems like what 5 year old Lambo would do. (he seems getting better in tyl arc, but my mind treats tyl arc like tasteless anime filler. So I cannot really recovered from this bad first impression)

- stepping into fandom toes again: I cannot see Hibari calling people as ‘carnivore’ or ‘omnivore’. Strange how I always picturing him assume herbivores = sheep. but if Hibari acknowledge people, like really acknowledge people, he’ll call them their names (like Yamamoto or in TYL arc, Tsunayoshi (at least before he become huge dissapointment in my eyes). When people are not herbivores and posing challenge, he’ll call them names  (like punk for gokudera or monkey boss for xanxus)

- my crackpairing is Rikopin/Dino (from daily arc). OTP is Yamamoto/Wall (because somehow HIbari/Namimori no longer become a joke. I kinda feared if Hibari line will end at his generation)
