#tho i will say that i have personal beef with zutara shippers

It's so interesting engaging with the ATLA fandom as someone who doesn't rly like zutara or kataang. Bc zutara shippers who are against kataang will be like "Katara and Aang have a mother/son relationship!!" but then kataang shippers who hate zutara sometimes pull "Well Katara is a foil of Zuko's sister! Their dynamic is sibling-like!!" etc. etc.

Each side tries to moralize it for themselves and it's just like....y'all are shipping silly fictional characters with each other. And they both have the exact same age gap. As much as I have a severe distaste for one of them, I promise you it is not a moral failing to ship one or the other 😭😭😭 Interpret relationships as you like when they aren't explicit! It's fine, I promise you're allowed to do it! One side is not inherently better than the other!!

rating some of the fandoms i’ve been in out of 10

Hamilton: 4/10

scary, can’t believe how weird it was. The fanfics give me nightmares (what was up with all the high school au things?? Who thought this was a good idea). Lin Manuel Miranda doing the weird lip bite haunts my brain and my tiktok for you page. Songs do slap tho 

V*ltron: 0.5/10

dear god this was terrifying. So toxic, so big and so loud. What was up with the representation? Why did it all turn to shit after season three? I either keep quiet and try to forget or go on ten minute rants about everything wrong with it. Wish I could forget all the things I saw/read, has changed me as a person. The discourse was so intense but some of the fics did kinda vibe.

ATLA: 7.5/10

Super chill and understanding. Amazing show, great writing and phenomenal animation. Sukka and Zukka shippers are so nice and relaxed and have literally no beef with each other which is nice. Loses points for the zutara/kataang ship wars but overall everyone seems super nice and just passionate about how great the show is.

Criminal Minds: 6.9/10

I LOVE the show so much but there’s a lot wrong with it/that could’ve been done better. A fair bit of discourse surrounding ships and characters but most people are chill. Great fics and art, but soo many people are just horny for the characters and actors. Like I get it, but also why??? Either way most people seem nice and cool and I feel like most of the people in the fandom could’ve written better endings for the show (I know I’ve planned it out).

Ranger’s Apprentice: 9.5/10

HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT!! Everyone is super awesome and nice and just understanding. Small but friendly and made up of some creative and charismatic people. The books might not be amazing but the fandom makes up for it in spades. I’m so lucky to have found this community on here, especially considering how I’ve never known anyone else who liked the series. The art and fics are really good and so underrated so check em out.

Detroit: Become Human: 5/10

Lot of ships and stuff that make no sense to me/I hate. I love the game and the characters but I don’t get some stuff in the fandom because I guess I didn’t see it (yes this is about that whole Gavin x RK900 thing, it makes no sense to me)? I didn’t interact much with the Tumblr fandom and just stuck to reading fics on ao3. Overall, wasn’t that great considering I wasn’t a big shipper/fan of the main ships people liked but made up for it with the fics I read.

Harry Potter: TERF/10

JK Rowling can choke on her own spit and die but it was also the introduction to reading fics so I owe it a lil bit of my current habits to that. Some people went a bit wild but most of the people I talked to seemed chill. It’s been years and years and I still don’t have a definitive answer for what my Hogwarts house is.
