Black vhs tape (the one where Harley wakes up) quote that always stuck out to me is "my head.. It feels like it's split in two..."

Like,, why not just say "ough.. My head.." and continue speaking (or to go with his confusion "my head.. What have you done...")

Additionally, in the beginning he was just organs and wires and existed within the big computer setup with his brain

But by the Hour Of Joy he's controlling everything within the Prison area (says so to the Warden and gets the omni hand)

And then there are the many bots. The scientists wouldn't make them for him, so it must've been done with Prototype's help.

Then why is Harley limited to the Prison? Why not link him with the entirety of the Playtime factory? Clearly, 1006 doesn't trust the doc enough to give him such control.

But Harley has the omnihand, multiple wireless robots and- and still has NOT hooked himself up to the main system? Seems to me like Prototype and him have a deal that stops him from doing so

But cOME ONNN you're telling me an already paranoid man (his "adoption" of Yarnaby) who was stabbed in the back by his co-workers before (and oh what a backstab it was) didn't make any failsafes?

Back to the voicelines, what was "You understand the futility of this, don't you? Meat rots and loses it's function. It's as replaceable as anything else." about? He didn't want to be turned into what he is, now he's talking it's oh so great? (Also also, the usual way of talking about physical bodies is using the word "flesh", not "meat"; And we know he uses/knows common phrases and sayings as demonstrated by the usage "for whom the bell tolls")

Then again, "I'll bury myself so far down that no one will ever find me, not you, not the prototype, not anyone!" Implies he hasn't done it yet :(

He was so hyped up both in the trailers, arg and the characters in game and all he gets is a puzzle and an okay bossfight?

Positive note though, the voice acting slaps, the way I keep replaying different playthroughs (the "White? Is thAT YOUU?!" gets me every time,,,, the usually clinically calm doctor only ever showing distaste or hatred emoting surprise this strongly-) and enjoying the reactions it gets out of the gamers >>>

Have you ever watched Xiaolin Chronicles? I haven’t, I’ve only watched a few clips and (mostly negative) reviews on YouTube

Yes, I have, and let me tell you those negative reviews are true. The show is bad: I only enjoyed the first 3 and 3 last episodes (and maybe 2 in the middle).

Since you asked me about Chronicles, I’ll present things that tick me off the most about the series.

1. no character development for the characters:

a) Yup, still, salty Rai isn’t the leader. However, Omi undeniably beats everyone in that case. In Chronicles he’s arrogant, rude, and bossy towards the others. While in the original series the issue with his ego is understandable (he’s a kid, never had friends his age before, etc), here in Chronicles watching him interact with everyone is unbearable. Sorry Omi, you’re annoying. Even when Ping Pong is introduced – someone who is supposed to be a foil to Omi (all that Omi’s talk how he is like a master to a new monk), Omi only focuses on gloating, not the mentorship. What is more, instead of being happy for Ping-Pong’s successes – he gets jealous. So, in my opinion, the reboot series underline most of Omi’s negative qualities and what is worse – provides no internal conflicts that would help him change. The creators made Chronicles Omi’s show. He has to be the best even though he’s wrong.

Most of the episodes have (sort of) the following pattern:

1. monks are chilling in their new awesome gold temple when the new wu reveals itself

2. Chase Young is plotting evil with his minion – Shadow; meantime Omi yells at Jack

3. Omi beats up Jack in the showdown

4. the day is saved and Omi learned nothing from the encounter

Of course, there are some episodes centered around other monks and even Dojo, it is just Omi’s overwhelming ‘I must be in the spotlight or I’ll die’ attitude. When other characters are given more depth, the main focus is switched back to Omi and the problems of others are neglected by the show. (but still, not always… there was a scene where Omi cheered Kimiko up! So, yeah Omi was just the victim of bad writing like everyone else I guess)

b) Dojo: apart from the fact he’s yellow now it seems his personality was reduced to crying about Master Fung or being highly supportive with moments of doubt about his position in the team. The change is not drastic, tho. I just miss sassy, complaining (from time to time) Dojo.

c) Master Fung: Strangely enough, Chronicles!Fung no longer serves the role of the guardian. Sure, he fought Chase Young when the temple was being destroyed, but most of the time he’s absent. It was mentioned he had to go on a journey alone, but it was never explained what for. I had hopes it was for a greater purpose like… finding a solution how to help xiaolin monks or something…. But all we got is Fung chilling somewhere as if he was on vacation. I am utterly sad when I think about Fung’s portrayal in XC. They changed a great mentor, who had an actual influence on the xs plot into a happy-go-lucky character with several cameos.

2. the deal with Chase Young

- changed backstory how he turned Heylin (a love interest is a cause of him turning Heylin? Seriously? And why? Because she loved his brother Eon instead of him? Nope, not a fan of this trope

- His personality was also altered. As long as I can accept the change in his design…. (although I prefer the original more) the way he acts has no cohesion.

XS Chase is an evil mastermind, someone who plans ahead, is very discreet about his evil endeavors, but despite his alignment, there is something noble about him. He can keep his promises, help Omi once in a while, accept defeat… XC Chase, on the other hand, is so power-hungry, he lets his emotions get in a way. He’s more direct in his attacks, but as far as his plans for world domination go… well, there’s nothing special about them. They have many holes and XC Chase expects Shadow to put them into action instead of doing so himself. He's all about taking control aggressively and has too much screentime. He won't let the other heylins shine :/ For me, his actions are mindless. It is as if Chase wanted to scream at the top of his lungs: ‘I’ll mess around because what’s the point of laughing maniacally alone in a cave without an audience?’

What’s also weird about XC Chase is that…. He once possessed a man transformed into a tree…. Then he laid an egg…. And at the end of the series became a dragon who wanted to eat everyone and everything on his path.

So, yeah. XS Chase and XC Chase are from two different worlds.

3. plot points that are stolen from the original series and are incorporated with the use of new characters

Remember Chucky Choo – a con artist dragon, ex-BFF of Dojo who had stolen his family yoyo? In xc there’s an episode with Rocco – another dragon Dojo cannot trust. The only difference between Rocco and Chucky is that Rocco has no interest in shen gong wu… He only wants to take care of Master Fung, he and Dojo get in a fight who loves Master Fung more and bam! Chase Young kidnaps them and forces them to work together. Sounds familiar? The same happened with Chucky, but kidnapping was carried out by Wuya and Jack (and Cyclops).

Jessie Bailey is replaced by Patrick Bailey – a boy jealous of Clay, who decides to be a superhero. In order to do that, he saves the monks from the evil mime and other past villains in a … COW COSTUME. Patty fights Clay in the mud and all grudges from childhood up to this point are forgiven…

These are two of the most noticeable instances I could think of. In XC we have more swaps. Le mime is replaced by a mime who can actually speak.

Black Vipers are no more ( lack of Jessie) BUT! Some cowgirls on the motorbikes are summoned magically by Wuya. So, we can say they are XC equivalent of the Black Vipers.

For some, it might be a downgrade, for others - not. To be fair, I took a liking to Rocco because Dojo deserves a friend who cares for him. As for the others - no feelings whatsoever. The main disadvantage, however, is that these alternations pop out of nowhere, and as a result, the viewers who know the original series are confused, just like with the case of changed shen gong wu names.

4. weird humor - As I recall, there was something off about the jokes mostly because they were written by the French writers who tried to come up with something that may satisfy the American-oriented audience, but failed. (at least I read something like that a long time ago that this is the main reason the comedic factor in XC is of poor quality). If I had to choose what gag is my least favorite, I would pick that repeating sequence of Dojo's skin problems. In XS they were acceptable (only scratching and losing scales) but in Chronicles they made the scenes how white fluid pops out from Dojo's pimples too long and disturbing.

5. Ping-Pong

WHY IS HE OMI'S CLONE. WHY IS HE FRENCH IF HE HAS ASIAN FEATURES?

(maybe he is Asian but was raised in France?)

Don't get me wrong, Ping-Pong is actually ok. I love how he bonds with others (especially Kimiko, they're cute together). He's competent, learns quickly. To be honest, he has no bad qualities. Idk maybe my desire to have a girl (more female monks who can kick ass please) or Jermaine or redesigned!Ping-Pong is affecting my judgment.

6. Mixing the animation styles

Episodes are 2D, while the showdowns are 3D. In my opinion by that decision showdowns lost their artistic value. Computer animation is not necessarily a worse medium, I am not fond of this particular instance. Models of monks and heylins are ok but I got the impression that the environment almost always gets darker and it looked more like a computer game? Additionally, It seems as if in the original series the showdowns were more thought through and more creative but this is only my preference and how I see things.

7. Many mysteries unsolved

Why Chase and Wuya never interact with each other? Is Kimiko a leader at the end of Chronicles? Why is Kimiko's sister a guardian of the galaxy with a pterodactyl? What does Wuya want from Shadow? Why is Kaila helping Shadow and why was she in her visions? Why Guan is dead if in XS he's alive? But most importantly, WHERE IS DASHI'S t-SHIRT?

To sum up, Xiaolin Chronicles are the result of inconsistent, bad writing. Everyone was made dirty, they deserved better. At times there are uncreative tropes used, repetitions of old jokes, backgrounds of are characters altered (Chase and Rai). All these factors contribute to the confusing plot.

As for you, dear roseangel19 thank you for the question. I wrote down everything I've remembered. My last rewatch was like 3 years ago. Still, a good opportunity to complain about the show's downsides.
