major andor spoilers episode 6. incoherent discomfort

i get that because of who the characters are nemik and skene needed focus on their arcs and where they end up, but it still sucks that the more background character of taramyn got got instantly and so did gorn who definitely had more presence? like he got got with so little notice and. idk. they chose to cast them all like that and shoot the action like that. leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the black men die first in the firefight, arent we past that trope.

like i had to google if gorn died? im holding out hope he lives but if not thats such a shitty end to the character.

and like on the one hand people die in rebellion and you can't afford to stop the fight its storytelling and also i saw suggested maybe taramyn died bc skene was not covering him right which is tragic and interesting but like. idk. the 2 who die in the firefight are dark skinned black men and the 2 who die later with great pathos are white men.

i dont really have coherent thoughts but it was really one major downside for me in what was otherwise the best episode.

edit: i rewatched the ep and like i do like that gorn was the only rebel who couldnt take cover because he was trying to sell the story. if he took cover, he might have lived, but he had to try, and he bought time for everyone else to scatter. i LIKE that, i like that the character died from that. I like that skeen probably let taramyn die on purpose as a foreshadowing of him being a piece of shit.

and like theres levels to that right of a black man's life expendable to a white man's greed. like it could be intentional but idk. was it necessary? the characters work but the casting complicates things? at this point my feelings are complicated. im still thinking about it.
