so somebody sent an anonymous ask to a mutual of mine; @poeticscolt asking what I have against king liam from trr, redirected from an earlier ask asking about "which blog comes to mind if i bring up liam". she mentioned my blog which is fair game but i don't exactly have a post explaining why so, here it is.

first of all anon, why didn't you just ask me? my inbox is always open lol and i could've answered it right away. it also doesn't help that i can't tag/mention you either.

back to the topic tho, no i don't like liam. should you as a liam stan take offense? of course not. can i see the appeal of liam? absolutely, but he gets on my nerves mainly since i'm not romancing him. so here's my 2 cents as to why i don't like liam:

he is the most forced li in the whole app. wether you like/romance him or not, this is a fact. yes there's logan and hayden, and arguably others, but i don't think they measure up to liam. you can reject them both much sooner (around mid to late book 1 of perfect match and you can even friend zone logan from chapter 2 i think, which affects how he behaves towards mc in the future, and i know for a fact this isn't the case with liam), i mean at least both hayden and logan can take a hint. so yeah, that's liam's biggest flaw: you're basically trapped until he proposes to you. and who's brilliant idea was it to give us the "i'm falling for someone else" option on multiple occasions to say to literally anyone BUT liam. seriously?? like what’s the fucking point then-

in-game situations that are very frustrating are when no LI takes it seriously that you have feelings for someone else. i mean is it really that hard to believe? that i actually don't care about royalty or i want to marry my best friend, or i'm into girls.

competing for someone's hand also rubs me the wrong way, but that has more to do with the story and why i don't like trr.

mc telling madeleine she loves liam also doesn't sit very well for me when i'm clearly romancing drake. again, very unnecessary, it should've been an option for those who wanted but i also can't see for the life of me why that's madeleines business anyways.

liam suggesting for mc to be his "woman on the side" is actually fucking disgusting and infuriating me from the inside out just thinking about it. bold of him to assume i'm even there to win him back, i'm there because i apparently have to clear my name to be with drake. and they sure took their sweet time with the whole set up drama

i mostly blame pb for all of this. i can give them a free pass that it's one of their older books (which is easy to forget ik), but still. they shouldn't have written trr with such a guilt trip for those who didn't pick liam and they sure as hell should've let us reject him sooner. i feel robbed that he tried to propose to me. with my corgi. when i was 100% on board with drake. and i never kissed or flirted with him. THAT is just lazy writing. and if you want me to address the 'do drake stans deserve rights' part of the fandom we're gonna be here for awhile.
