i've been out of fandom for a while now, but beauxbatons being portrayed (in fandom bc canon is never giving us decent worldbuilding) as a "noble", fluffy, almost regency-adjacent kind of school, with ballet and fencing and culinary as extra-curriculars is so dumb to me, specially because no matter if the wizarding world stopped in the middle ages, you don't think the revolutionary wave that swept through france would also reach them? don't you think they would lean into dueling, into alchemy, as close as they can to science and humanism and as far away from the royalty, versailles aesthetic as possible?

I always imagined Beauxbatons like Royal Prep from Sofia The First with all sorts of extracurricular activities like clubs, bands, sports and a bunch of different elective studies.
Horseback riding, painting, Fencing, Archery, Exploration, Sports.
I also imagined that when you study a Muggle subject at least to above average level with each class.
When you studied someone like Grindelwald you also learned what else was going on at that time or around it.
Like you have Herbology class but you also have to study Muggle Botany (and whatever the Mushroom study is called) so that you don't get certain plants and fungi confused.
