Sleeping well would be good for my health, ...
An implicating person would say that all this is not true, they would say that this image isn't a true snapshot because it was manipulated again after it was made, therefore this would take away the veracity of the concept in practice, they could also say that if the image wasn't made with a camera for taking snapshots it isn't a snapshot, it could still radicalize and say that to be a legitimate snapshot it would have to be taken by the legitimate camera for snapshots, the very famous one, P. something, the end of the word reminds us of egg, ...
I still remember, in my memory distant in time, the purchase of the bowl shown in the almost instantaneous image, the image took some time to be revealed, a set of bowls manufactured in a circuit of historic cities related to artisanal manufacturing: homemade sweets; winter clothing, including blankets; crockery; ornaments made of glass; ... Family tourism. In all this, it was even possible to find and buy a Made in China keychain as a happy souvenir of the return to the big city in gray tones, one of the reasons for the joke that the young oriental woman full of colorful exoteric tattoos in the newest crop of immigrants here in the region, spoke some time ago in one of those new urban stores of the new capitalism, box format stores because in this brand new capitalism space has to be fully utilized, there is no space on planet Earth for stray trees that don't do anything useful and don't pay taxes to the government, trees that only cause harm, and the government has two well-defined faces, one idealistic and demagogic before the election, and after the election the agnostic journalistic soap opera continues as before it, but the new laborism would not be going from one side to the other in a planet that has no corners, but has dangers, in search of paid work to go crazy in the rush, and China doesn't just manufacture keychains as souvenirs, there are also apps, really very similar to each other, they even have a Japanese look.
And finally, I'll also add some nostalgic soundtrack to this post before nothing else is instantaneous:
X-Ray Spex – Identity. The Drones – Lookalikes. The Dickies – Give It Back.
The three songs are efficient in sound, they don't even need a video clip, and knowing their lyrics in the past was an optional curiosity, it would be ridiculous to develop a thesis based on those lyrics, and if those sounds have survived time, then it's even possible to suggest that they are an institution, and writing this text was not an obligation, it was a pleasure on a cold summer day after a sickly heat.
Go crazy in the rush? Renewed breath? No no, no no.

The Lanes never sleep.
The sunken streets may lie beneath Piltover’s heavy shadow, and the faults are numerous and deadly; but no one can claim that the Undercity is boring.
There is always colour to be found, if you know where to look.
It’s something you pride yourself on – the ability to see what others can’t. Some mistake it for simple optimism. But you know it’s more than just that. It’s the thing that’s kept you alive this long, in more ways than one. You've always been happy to go wherever life has taken you, and you're a big believer in gut instinct.
But you never expected to end up working as a bartender at The Last Drop – having been scouted by a blue haired girl who wouldn't take no for an answer.
Neither did you expect to find yourself landed with the terrifying task of ensuring Silco's personal drinks cart is kept well stocked.
And you certainly never expected to find yourself inadvertently become the weekly drinking partner of the Eye of Zaun himself.

Next Christmas | KTH
Pairing: Taehyung x Reader
Genre: fluff, holiday, established relationship, non-Idol!AU
Rating: T
Warnings: kissing, mentions of pregnancy
Word Count: 1.1K
Disclaimers: I don’t own BTS - they just inspire me
Summary: Taehyung's trying to help you get ready for this Christmas, but you're already thinking of the next.
A/N: This was written for the BCC x FI 12 Days of BTS Holiday Event! My advent calendar prompt was "Next Christmas, we'll be needing one more stocking." That insta video of Taehyung in front of the Christmas tree sent me off down a totally unexpected path. This is pretty much just a long drabble!
Unbeta'd as usual. I’d love to know what you think - my inbox is always open! 💕
Masterlist 💜 Find me on AO3 💜
“Hey baby? Did you bring all of the decorations up from the basement?”
“Yes, love,” Taehyung calls out from the kitchen.
“Are you sure? I really thought we had more stuff.” You glance around the living room at all of the boxes cluttering the space. “I don’t know if this is enough?”
Taehyung walks into the room, wrapping his arms around you as he rests his chin on your shoulder. His dark curls tickle your ear as he rocks you back and forth. “You really think we need more decorations? Or is this just you being nervous about the party?”
“Both?” you sigh and lean into him, resting against his solid chest as he hugs you. “Sorry. I just want this to be perfect.”
“I know,” he says, kissing the top of your head. “It’s going to be just fine.”
So many boxes. It’s amazing how many memories they hold, Taehyung muses, as the two of you begin to unpack. A string of lights reminds him of the first Christmas you’d spent together, in your old apartment. How, the moment you’d plugged in your tree, wrapped in strand after strand of colorful bulbs, you’d blown a fuse, plunging the entire little studio into darkness.
A light-up Santa Claus figurine brings back the time the two of you went to the mall to have your picture taken with Santa for your Christmas card. He vividly remembers the way Santa had laughed merrily when the two of you removed your coats, revealing matching green reindeer onesies adorned with fuzzy antlers on the hoods. The elf assistant taking the photo couldn’t stop laughing either, leading to a slightly off-frame picture, which now hangs on the wall with all the other snapshots of your life together.
But nothing could top last year’s Christmas, of course. He pulls a snowglobe out of its packaging, giving it a gentle shake to stir up the flakes. Inside the tiny glass are two snowpersons, their stick hands intertwined. As he stares into the snow, he remembers how you’d giggled as you read the silly inscription, `I Love You Snow Much,’ only to gasp in surprise when you glanced up to find him down on one knee, ring in hand.
Now, that same ring sparkles on your finger as you carefully hang a gingerbread man ornament on the tree. He takes in the far-away look in your eyes as you rearrange the branches, making room for more trinkets, and sighs.
“You’re still worrying. Tell me what’s on your mind.” He winds some garland around the bookshelves.
“I just want this to go perfectly. It’s our first time hosting here, and I want it to be the first of many parties we throw. Like, that’s why we bought this house, right? To fill with friends and family?”
Taehyung nods as you continue, his mind wandering a little at that last word. “Yeah, that’s right. But you’ve hosted so many parties before, in our old place. This isn’t anything new.” He smiles warmly. “Everyone’s excited to see the house, sure, but they’re more excited just to see you and get to spend Christmas Eve celebrating with you.”
“Why are you always so sweet?” you hum, pausing in your decorating to drop a gentle kiss on your fiancé’s cheek. Your fingers brush against the dark stubble sprouting there. He’s trying to grow a beard, and you can’t help but admire how the slight shadow changes his face, making him look more mature. Sexier, too, which is incredible given how gorgeous he already is.
“It’s all that hot cocoa I’ve had recently. I’m overflowing with sugar,” Taehyung answers as you giggle. He jokes, but he’s always taking care of you like this. It never ceases to amaze you how much love he has to give.
Taehyung reaches into the box of ornaments to grab a wooden tree inscribed with a series of names. It’s one of your favorites - a family tree given to you by your parents as a gift last year.
He rubs his fingers over the empty space beneath your name and his.
“Namjoon’s coming to the party, right?” he asks.
“Of course! He was one of the first to RSVP.”
Taehyung nods as he hangs the ornament on a branch. “Of course he was. Will he and Lisa be bringing little Hyejin with them?”
You glance at your fiancé. His face is impassive as usual, but his eyes give him away. “Yep. I told them little ones are welcome at the party. And I knew better than to keep Hyejin away from her favorite uncle.”
“I’m not really her uncle. That’s just what Namjoon and Lisa call me.”
“You’re close enough, baby. And that little girl loves you so much.” It always twists your heart to see Hyejin light up whenever Taehyung holds her. Namjoon’s daughter has him wrapped around her chubby little fingers.
Taehyung hasn’t moved from where he stands, staring at the ornament as it spins in the soft glow of the tree. He doesn’t have to say a word, you know exactly what he’s thinking. What he’s wishing for. Threading your arms through his, you nuzzle into his back, and he wraps his long fingers around yours as he hums softly.
“I think that’s everything,” you declare after a minute, stepping away to start clearing the empty boxes. “I guess we did have plenty to properly deck the halls after all.”
Taehyung grunts, only half-listening as he helps you clean up.
“I’m not sure it’ll be enough for next year, though,” you continue, stopping at the mantel to straighten one of the stockings hanging there. “After all, next Christmas, we’ll be needing one more stocking.”
“Mmm,” Taehyung replies, flopping down on the couch. Then he sits back up as your words sink in. “Wait, what?”
You simply beam back at him, one hand resting on your lower stomach.
“Love? Are you saying what I think you’re saying?” He crosses the room slowly, as if afraid that if he moves too quickly, he’ll jinx something. That your answer will change. He’s held on to this hope for so long that he’s not sure he can let go.
Nodding, you take his hand, lightly pressing it to your stomach. It’s too soon to feel anything, but neither of you care. Taehyung tries to speak, but just shakes his head. You squeeze his hand.
“Merry Christmas, baby. Our gift is on its way.”

Stucky x reader
“Your stance is off again.” Bucky called from across the room. You made no sign of acknowledgement and continued to beat the red bag. You didn’t hear him walk across the room to stand behind you, but you jumped when he wrapped his arms around your waist and held you close. “What’s wrong doll?”
“Nothing Buck.” You said leaning back into his chest. “Just tired is all.”
“When was the last time you slept properly?” He murmured running his fingers along your arms.
“When Stevie left. I just get worried when one of you goes out on missions and we get no contact. ” You replied quietly, looking down.
“I know the feeling doll.” You turned, wrapping your arms around his waist, and looked up at the man. The bags under his eyes were dark and he looked paler than normal, he looked as tired as you felt.
“I wish he’d come back sooner.” You whispered. Bucky nodded in agreeance, he held you for a few more minutes before unwinding your arms and leading you over to the mats. “What are you doing?”
“We’re going to get some sleep and stop being worrywarts.Steve will be fine, we just have to trust him and stop being stressed over nothing.” He answered as he laid down on the mats and pulled you on top of him. You were too tired to say anything in response, you feel your eyes getting heavier at the steady sound of his heartbeat. “Go to sleep doll he’ll be back soon.”
The two of you feel asleep like that quickly and didn’t register the flash of a camera coming from Clint’s nest. The two of you didn’t register Steve walking in and laying down beside you and wrapping his arms around the two of you before drifting off as well. The flash from the nest went off again and the archer stashed his phone and crawled out through the vents. He’d keep them for later.
“That’s too much sugar.” Steve scolded.
“No, it’s not.” Bucky argued with the blonde. “It’s a perfect amount.”
“It’s going to wreck your teeth.” The blonde stated crossing his arms. “Y/N back me up here.”
“It’s a cake Stevie. Live on the edge with us.” You smirked cracking the eggs. Bucky stuck his tongue out at Steve and kissed you sloppily on the cheek. “Gross Buck.” You crinkled your nose.
“I can live on the edge.” Steve pouted, you grinned at the tall man and wrapped your arms around his waist.
“Sure, you can spangles.” You agreed craning your neck to look at him. Steve smirked at you before cracking an egg on your head. Bucky laughed loudly as yolk ran down your face, you glared at Steve and leaned backwards to grab flour which you flung at the blonde.
Steve spluttered in shock as you ran to hide behind the still laughing brunette.
“Y/N.” Steve whined.
“You kind of deserved it Steve.” Bucky said between gasps. You and Steve looked at each and nodded. You grabbed another handful of flour and Steve another egg which you two soon threw at the laughing brunette.
A full-blown food fight broke out. After a half hour of eggs being launched, flour being rubbed into hair and laughter echoing throughout the kitchen, the three of you sat slumped against the wall, breathless.
“Well that was fun.” You said sarcastically with a smile.
“Definitely.” Bucky agreed.
“Well it’s not going to much fun now because now we have to clean the kitchen.” Steve said moving to stand.
“And our Steve has resumed his regularly scheduled programming.” Bucky stated with a smirk.
“I say Steve should clean. He started this.” I say with a wide grin.
“You know what doll I think so.” Bucky said wrapping an arm around your waist. “Well there you go punk, have fun.”
“Now hang on a second.” The blonde started. “No, you two get back here.”
“Hurry up Stevie and you can join us in the shower. Love you.” You called as you were pulled out of the room.
Steve hurried after the two of you trying to get you to come back and help him, and Natasha smirked from her hiding place behind the wall. She had her phone out was smiling at the photo she’d taken. Steve held you in his arms, you were slightly off the ground and Bucky was coming toward you with the bag of flour. The three of you were all smiling and looked very much so in love. Yep she’d keep this for later.
“Well this is a nice surprise.” You said as you and Steve walked into your apartment. The two of you watched as your other boyfriend looked up from the small kitchen counter.
“It sure is.” Steve said from behind you. “What’s the occasion jerk?”
“I don’t need an occasion to do something nice for you two.” Bucky said while stirring the pots.
“The last time you tried to cook, you almost burnt your hair off.” Steve commented following you into the kitchen.
“One time.” Bucky mumbled under his breath while rolling his eyes.
“Don’t worry babe.” You chirped. “I believe in you.” You added as you sat yourself onto the unoccupied counter.
“And that’s why you’re my favorite.” He said to you.
Turning to Steve you gave him a teasing smile and poked your tongue out. “ Sorry not sorry, Stevie.”
Steve moved over to you and stood in between your legs. He brushed the hair back from your face, with a smile and leaned down to kiss you gently. The two of you gave each other short, gentle kisses, when Bucky sai something that shocked you.
“Marry me.”
Steve and you jumped apart to stare at the blushing brunette in shock.
“Shit, that’s not how that was supposed to come out.” He said shoving his face into his hands. “It was supposed to be this whole romantic dinner and I was going to say it over wine and I was going to give this speech I’ve been working on for weeks and now I’ve gone and ruined it all.” Bucky rambled, looking crestfallen.
“Hey stop that. “You said jumping down from the counter. “You didn’t ruin anything.” You continued wrapping you arms around the tall man.
“She’s right Buck. You just shocked us.” He added hugging Bucky from behind.
“But it was supposed to be perfect. That’s what you deserve.”
“No, we deserve you.” You told him firmly. “That’s all we need.”
“Exactly.” Steve agreed. “We don’t want perfect and we don’t need it. Frankly I don’t care where I am or what’s happening as long as I’ve got the two of you.”
“Steve’s not wrong there. I just need my boys and that’s all I could ever hope for. So, if your serious about marrying you, you’re not going to get a no from me.”
“Or me.”
“Wait here then.” Bucky said moving from your arms and running into your bedroom. “Y/N, Steve, I know I ruined the moment but to hell with it.” He said coming out of the room with his hands behind his back. “I don’t care whose name we take, or how were going to do this but will you two marry me?” He finished bending down on one knee as he pulled his out from behind his back. He held two rings one in front of you, and the other Steve.
Tears built up in your eyes at the sight before you. “Yes, you dummy.” You cried.
“Of course, jerk.” Steve responded at the same time. Bucky smiled as he stood, he first placed the ring on your finger and then Steve’s.
“Oh, crap now I’m crying.” You laughed as you were pulled into a kiss from Buck and then Steve. You watched as they kissed before pulling the two of them into a hug. The three of you stood there until you could smell Bucky’s meal burning.
“Maybe we should just order a pizza?” Steve asked as Bucky rushed to the stove. You laughed as Bucky nodded sadly.
“Don’t worry Buck, one day you’ll get it right.” You laughed.
“Finally.” Tony said from behind the monitor. He had gotten JARVIS to snap a photo of the exact moment Bucky had proposed. Of course, he knew about the proposal, he’s overheard as Bucky had asked Wanda to help him with the meal and decided he needed a photo for later.
“A toast the new throuple.” Tony called into the microphone, raising a champagne glass. Your big day was finally coming to an end, after months of stress and arguments over color and best man and maid of honor the day had arrived much faster than you thought.
The wedding had gone very smoothly. With Thor officiating, Sam as Bucky’s best man, Tony as Steve’s and Wanda and Natasha sharing the role of maid of honor, the whole team had had with the wedding as much as you three had.
Steve and Bucky looked as handsome as the day you’d met them and, in their eyes, you were as radiant as ever.
“And before we conclude the toasting’s the Avengers and myself have a surprise gift for the happy throuple.” Tony added with a smirk. The three of you turned to the rest of the team with questioning glances, to which they all just smiled at you. “Bucky, Steve Y/N, the three of you have been together for a long time and over the course of your long relationship the team and I have taken it upon ourselves to personally document your journey. So, without further ado we present your story.” He concluded and gestured behind him to a screen that had lowered in his speech.
What appeared to have been a, very well, edited home movie began playing. The song ‘Perfect’ narrated the flood of photos and videos of the three of you. Various photos of memories you would always hold dear and videos of days you couldn’t bear to forget flooded the screen.
The three of you napping in, random, various places, content looks plastered to your faces.
Bucky and you laughing at Steve who was covered in flour.
The three of you laughing and smiling, always laughing and smiling.
Bucky and Steve kissing both your cheeks.
Steve giving you a piggyback as you two ran from a smiling Bucky.
You and Steve covering Bucky’s arm with magnets.
And of course, Bucky’s proposal. A full video of the moment the three of you shared.
The video ended with claps and cheers from your family and friends, the three of you were grasping each other’s hand tightly. You turned to Steve and kissed him quickly before tuning to Bucky and repeating the action. You leaned back as your boys kissed each other and when they pulled apart you three of you made sure to always be touching some of part of each other the whole night.
Those were the snapshots of your love. Moments the three of you had shared together and would continue making for many years.

Numb (D.W.)
Prompt: Just something that came to mind. Reader is part of the Super Fam. Older Damian Wayne.
Pairing: Older!Damian Wayne x Super!Reader, Dick Grayson x platonic!reader
Words: 5870
Warnings: Cursing, violence (lots of violence for a little bit), Deaf reader at one point, emotionally vacant reader
Notes: This just kind of happened. There may be another part, but this is where I felt this part ended.
Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
You slowly rose from your bed. You had gotten in around four that morning and had to be at work by seven...unless there was a crisis that you needed to stop that involved you getting snapshots of Krypton as she fought against whomever decided to become the villain of the morning. Then, you could tell your boss you were late because you were getting some action shots of Bludhaven’s favorite hero-though Dick Grayson would challenge you on that fact.
You would think a Super as yourself would be in Metropolis or another city close to it, but you would be wrong. You wanted to be independent of your father’s influence and your other siblings. You needed to make your own name. So, your father, Clark Kent, had reached out to Bludhaven Global Journal and had allowed you to further your career as a journalist without having to live up to the expectations of the Daily Planet since your parents were Clark and Lois, two famed journalists. After much debate, you decided to take the out and transfer to Bludhaven. That had been the best decision to make.
Last night you and Dick, as Krypton and Nightwing, had taken on Bane and Blockbuster who were teaming up to take Bludhaven before moving onto Gotham. Bane had been working on the Gotham end while Blockbuster had worked on Bludhaven. Last minute, Bane had joined the fight and your found yourself between a rock and a hard place. Why, you ask, does that put you in a pickle? While you are part Kryptonian, you didn’t get all of the powers your dad had...or Jon had...you didn’t even have the best attributes like Connor did. Sure, you can fly, you have heat vision, super hearing and strength. You do not have cold breath, X-Ray vision, or superspeed. The worst part was that you didn’t even have the invulnerability. You get bruised and cut like Dick does after a rough battle. While it takes more force to break bones, that’s also a possibility-especially when fighting Blockbuster and Bane.
You and Dick had stood back to back, taking in the new scene and information. Needless to say, your ached all over and were grateful that Dick was able to find the information you both needed to stop their operation in its tracks. While he had been off on a search of information, you had taken on the two powerhouses. Let’s just say that by the time Dick had the information, you were overpowered and running out of energy.
You stumbled into the bathroom and started your morning routine. A short, but relaxing shower followed by applying makeup to your bruises and cuts so no one at work could ask about your after-shift activities. You checked everything in the mirror before exiting your room and walking to the kitchen where Dick was just setting out a warm breakfast with coffee while taking a face-time from Bruce.
Dick’s eleven years older than you (as you were Damian’s age) and had taken it upon himself to watch out for you in Bludhaven. After you had accepted your position at BGJ, you had been called by Grayson telling you that he had lots of extra space in his penthouse that he would be willing to rent out to you. He knew the only way that you would accept the offer is if you worked for the space. He had been right, and you couldn’t thank him enough. It was nice not being all alone in a new city at the beginning. As the months went on, it was just nice to come home to someone who knew your nightly activities and understood both the mundane and super things.
Dick sat next to your at the bar, leaning the phone on the popsocket to get both of you in the picture and freeing his hands so he could eat. “Morning Bruce,” you mumble, not yet completely awake.
“Morning. Tell me what you experienced last night,” the frame shifted as Damian joined the picture.
“TT, they did a number on your face, (Y/N),” Damian sighed.
“Thanks for the update,” you rolled your eyes. “I had my suspicions after having overheard a conversation Blockbuster was having with someone on the phone before Dick showed up last night. No names were mentioned but they were talking about a ‘shipment’ that would cripple both Gotham and Bludhaven. They wanted to take out the vigilanties and take over the cities and make them in their own image. After the call ended, Blockbuster met with Tarantula. Tarantula was in charge of the shipment and was given coded directions that I still haven’t been able to decode. Whatever this ‘shipment’ is, I believe we better get ahead of it before they have a chance to use it against us. I’ll keep on trying to decode the message after I get to work today.”
“The information I downloaded and deleted from their computers seemed to cripple the operation for the time being. I think that they have something to do with the shipment that (Y/N) was talking about. She gave me a copy of the coded directions and I’m going to see if I can get anything from looking at that and the files. I’ll make it my primary case today. From the information I got several warehouses in Gotham, I’ve sent the information over to you for you both to look into. Be careful, in case the Gotham end is more prepared than ours,” Dick took a gulp of coffee.
“I will grab Drake, Todd, and Brown. We’ll go look into the warehouses. I will let you know of our findings,” Damien nodded.
“I did my own recon last night while Bane was still in Gotham. He was meeting with Joker, Harley, Penguin, Two-Face, and Riddler. I wasn’t able to get much information out of the conversation, but they were talking of the operation taking place in the next two weeks. Depending on if all of the information you gathered transfers over to the Gotham operation, you could have set them back as well. I want us all to be on our toes. I also believe that if Bane was meeting with five other villains that your operation is bigger than just Blockbuster and Tarantula,” Bruce sighed, looking up as a knock sounded on his door. “I don’t want either of you patrolling on your own, that goes for you as well Damian. We’ll talk more later. Be safe.”
The video ended and you stretched as you stood to take your dirty dishes to the sink. “Damian was right, Bane and Blockbuster did a number on your last night. Maybe you should call out today.”
You turned sharply, ignoring the pull of multiple cuts on your stomach. “I am a powerful Kryptonian, I do not need to take ‘sick days’. I will apply more makeup and be on my way. Stay safe on the job today, Dick. I’d hate to have to take an early break to save your ass because you can’t reveal to your partner that you’re Nightwing,” you stalked off to finish getting ready for work.
Don’t misunderstand, you love Dick Grayson. He’s like a big brother to you, a big brother that you never got, being the oldest in the Kent clan. At twenty-three, you’re still headstrong and willing to push every ache behind in order to get the job done and seem normal. You had been the first one that Clark had to teach to control your super strength, dial down your hearing, control your heat vision when you were angry. You had been the trial run. Hell, you were the reason that they slowly tested Jon’s abilities just in case he was like you, with penetrable skin. After realizing you weren’t bullet proof, it took your father almost a whole year to let you patrol again.
You stepped into the living room of the penthouse, seeing Dick grabbing his keys. You sighed quietly and walked over to him. “Thank you for being concerned, but I know my limits. I’ll leave work early if I’m not feeling well. Don’t do anything stupid today, Detective Grayson,” you hugged him. He wrapped you in gentle but firm arms.
“I know you do, but you’re my little sister (Y/N/N). I worry. I promise no stupidity today as long as you do the same,” he released you, giving you a look.
“Scouts honor,” you smirked and grabbed your own set of keys. You both parted once you got to the car garage.
_____________
You looked up as a shadow cast over your workspace. “Kent, we need to talk.” You rose an eyebrow at Damian and stood.
“I need to tell my boss that I’m not feeling too well and will be taking the rest of the day off,” you state as you grab your things. After he was informed, you and Damian began the walk to the parking garage. “What’s this about, Mr. Wayne,” you asked. Since you were in public, you were treating him as if he was in on your next story. An informant or professional expert on what your next article was going to be.
He opened the passenger door of his car and closed it behind you before joining you in the car. “We have time sensitive information on Blockbuster and Bane’s operation. It’s even bigger than we thought. We’re meeting everyone back at Grayson’s penthouse.”
You nodded and stared out the window before turning to look at Damian as he drove. His chiseled cheeks, his broad shoulders, the muscles rippling beneath the tailored suit he wore. His eyes turned to you briefly, but you didn’t turn away. “It’s been a while,” you casually stated.
“I know. Next time I’ll come for a social visit. Or you could come to Gotham, either way. We haven’t spent time together since you got your job eight months ago,” A small smile was present on his face.
“You still see Jon almost every week,” you asked.
“Oh most definitely. He asks me when I’m going to come see you,” you rolled your eyes. Jon and Damian were best friends, much like you and Damian were. Jon just seemed to think that there was more to your relationship than just being best friends. He was right on your end. You realized four years ago that you were in love with your best friend. You knew he couldn’t feel the same, so you kept it to yourself and used your feelings for him to better your friendship and protect him when your worked on missions together.
“The little brat thinks he’s so slick,” you joked.
“You might want to tone down the judgement on your brother. When I said this operation was even bigger than we thought, that meant that it spread to Metropolis. Jon and Conner are already with Grayson in the penthouse. Your father is off world but is trying to wrap up the mission to get back here to help deal with the situation. Father, Todd, and Drake have arrived at the penthouse. Pennyworth and Brown are monitoring things in Gotham.”
You nodded and stretched your hearing to the penthouse. Everyone Damian had mentioned was, in fact, at the penthouse. Another sound caught your attention. You zoned in on it and tensed. “-eady in two hours. We’ll take those idiot do-gooder’s out in no time,” that was Tarantula.
“Good. I want to be rid of them as soon as possible.” Blockbuster.
You zoned back into the car as it parked. You both exited the car, but you paused as a scream reached your ears. It was coming from the same direction as Blockbuster and Tarantula. “-(Y/N)? KENT,” Damian shouted as he shook your shoulder.
“What?”
“Are you coming?”
“I’ve got to check something out,” you muttered, mind still on the information you’d gotten on the way...and thinking of the scream. Was it just a trap to see if their plan would work on you? Was someone really in danger and needed assistance? As the scream returned, you rushed into the penthouse, ignoring the people already in it. You changed into your suit and was out your bedroom window before Damian even reached your room.
“TT, damn it Kent,” you heard Damian exclaim and you tuned out the penthouse.
Landing quietly on the roof of the building you tracked the scream to, you carefully looked around. You weren’t going in blindly. This could very well be a trap. You wished that you’d gotten the genetics for X-Ray vision at this point, but you could deal with this. You could help the person in danger and get back to the penthouse to talk about the operation with everyone else.
You entered through a vent, using the many lessons Bruce and Dick had taught you about hiding in the shadows and using the element of surprise. Finally you found the room where the screaming originated from. Good news was that there was cause for you to investigate. Bad news, someone did need rescuing and it was most likely a trap.
You reached your hearing to the penthouse, before whispering out, “Jon, Conner, your listening ears on?” You heard them quiet down the others in the penthouse as they responded.
“Good news, I know where Blockbuster’s master plan resides currently. Bad news, they’re going to go through with the plan in two hours.”
“Why the hell did you go off without anyone else,” Conner hissed.
“Other bad news, they have hostages.”
It was silent for a minute before Jon sighed. You could imagine him running a hand down his face, “and they know you have enhanced hearing meaning they were planning on drawing you into a trap...which you blindly did.”
“Not exactly. They still don’t know I’m here. I spent too much time with bats to be that stupid,” you paused as you saw movement as the door in the room opened. “Hold on, movement.”
“Don’t engage, Kent,” Damian growled, “we’re coming to you. You don’t move until we get there.”
Your heart stopped momentarily as you realized that you didn’t have a choice in that. Seconds after seeing the man come through the door, you put up your mental shields as you had been taught. Manchester Black, renowned telepath and enemy of Superman and all of his children. You didn’t know he was back on Earth. “Black,” you whispered, hearing Jon tell the others of the telepath.
Apparently you hadn’t put your shields up fast enough to block Black. “Come now, Kryptonian.”
Before you could move, the vent was torn from the ceiling and you were left staring at Monolith and General Zod. A quiet curse left your lips as you made a head count. Manchester Black, General Zod, Monolith, Blockbuster, Tarantula, Bane, Joker, and Harley Quinn. “And I thought your little plan wouldn’t work,” Bane chuckled as he looked at Zod.
“All of Kal-El’s children are too righteous to ignore helping the innocent. Even his clone can’t ignore the need to help others. It’s pathetic really,” he responded. You could feel Black trying to break your shields.
“Can we hit this one now? I want to see her turn black and blue,” Harley leaned on her bat as she waited on an answer.
“I need her disabled in order to test our plan out, go ahead,” Blockbuster grinned.
It was like you were an all you can eat buffet and the villains were starved people as they all rushed at you. You growled under your breath and fought them off. You stayed as far away from Monolith as possible. As far as you and Dick knew, he was invulnerable-not to mention the superstrength he possessed rivaled your own. You kept Zod at a distance as well. He was a full blooded Kryptonian, he possessed all of your dad’s abilities and other than kryptonite, he had no vulnerabilities.
You focused on Tarantula. Get her out and you’ll have one less villain to deal with. It wasn’t hard to knock the young woman out. With her out of commission, you worked on Joker and Harley while still dodging attacked from the others. You had knocked Harley out just as you felt yourself being picked up and thrown through the air, complete with the feeling that your skin was being melted. A huge fist pushed your farther into the concrete you rested against.
You met the next fist and threw off Monolith. You didn’t get far before it felt like your head was exploding. With your concentration gone, you crashed to the ground, hands going up to your head as the rest of your shields fell. You felt the blood starting to leak from your nose and you couldn’t fight the scream that left your lips as the pain in your head intensified along with the physical abuse by the other villains in the room. Just as you began to pass out, you felt your left leg shatter, causing a broken gasp to leave your mouth as everything went black.
___________
You don’t know how long it had been since you lost consciousness when you woke next. A quiet groan left your mouth and you bit your lip as you pushed yourself up. You hissed as you put weight on your leg. You floated slightly to keep weight off of it. Several fearful eyes stared back at you once you began to look around. As you took stock of the situation, you extended your hearing, hoping to find the heartbeat of your brothers or the bats. You couldn’t find any sign of them and that worried you. As you looked around again, you realized that this wasn’t the location you scoped out earlier. They had moved you.
Your heart beat began to quicken and did your breathing before you quelshed the fear. Damian Wayne would find you. You trusted him with your life. He would find you and he wouldn’t stop until he did. You took one more look at the hostages in the cage with you, your face hardening slightly. “It’s going to be okay. I’m going to try and get the bars open enough for everyone to crawl out,” you whispered. You didn’t know where any of the villains were, but you didn’t want them to overhear you.
As soon as your hands clasped the bars, it felt like your energy was being drained from you. As you pulled at the bars, they moved barely and inch apart. As you went to pull at them again, a very familiar chuckle reached your ears. “I made them especially for you Supers. The cages are infused with Kryptonite. I have to say, Krypton, I’m surprised that the other idiots’ plan worked. I didn’t think you were dumb enough to fall into the trap.”
You backed away from the bars and glared at the man coming from the shadows. “Lex Luthor, why am I not surprised. I thought you were still off world.”
He smirked, coming closer to the cage. “I came back just for this. You didn’t think that Bane, Zod, and Blockbuster came up with this whole operation by themselves, did you? By being off world, no one would suspect my involvement. Once we take Gotham, Bludhaven, and Metropolis, the other heroes and cities will fall into our control.”
“How do you plan to make the cities fall? How do you plan to get rid of the other heroes?”
“That’s the easy part. You’ll be helping us out. We’ll see if it works on you. If it does, we can implement it on the others. If it doesn’t, we’ll fix it until it does...and even if it doesn’t work, you’ll be out of the picture,” Lex smirked. He crossed his arms in amusement as you pried at the bars again. “How does it feel to know that you’ll either be under our control or dead in less than thirty minutes?”
“That’s not going to happen,” you growled. Monolith, Zod, and Blockbuster emerged from the shadows and Lex smirked.
The cage door opened and you took the chance to attack, pushing the Monolith back into Zod. You used your heat vision to blind Blockbuster temporarily. You had to admit that you were panicking on the inside. You were a cornered animal and they all knew it. It would only be a matter of time before one of them restrained you.
You screamed and fought as Zod held onto you, dragging you through darkened hallways as the others followed. “When we get in there, make sure to inject her with the compound before we hook her to the machine,” Lex turned to smirk at you. “The show is about to begin.”
A door at the end of the hallway had light peeking from the bottom. It blinded you as the door swung open. It took a second for your eyes to adjust. That was enough time for your handlers to be changed out. Monolith was now holding you as Zod approached with a syringe. “No,” you shouted and tried to fight against Monolith’s hold on you. You used your heat vision, superstrength, and flight to try and get away, but nothing you did got you free.
Whatever was in the syringe burned your veins as it moved through. You grit your teeth, refusing to give them the satisfaction of knowing how much pain you were in. “Lock her in,” Lex stated as he moved further in the room.
You fought the whole way there. You weren’t going without a fight. As the last restraint was put on you, you felt tears of frustration building up. “No no no no no,” you mumbled, pulling at the restraints.
“You’ll find that those restraints are made of Kryptonite. While I’ll be displeased if this doesn’t work, at least I have one Super out of my hair,” Lex turned to look at Black behind the console. “Light her up!”
As the machine roared to life, you heard glass breaking all around you and multiple figures entered the room. You didn’t have time to take it all in before the machine sent a steady stream of energy at you. Upon contact, the fire in your veins intensified tenfold and you couldn’t help but scream out. You could feel Black probing your mind and implanting thoughts, but you couldn’t focus enough to block him out. You felt like your body was being torn in two...but then it all stopped.
Black was unconscious, the machine shut down, Conner and Jon fighting Zod and Monolith… Damian in front of you, hands on your cheeks, wiping away your fallen tears. His mouth moving, but you can’t hear what he’s saying. All you hear is whitenoise. “Hurts,” you form the word with your mouth. Whether it’s spoken or not, you don’t know but Damian understands.
Your restraints are undone and you can’t catch yourself, but you don’t need to. Damian has you, he’s lowering you to the ground, crouching with you, still saying something you can’t make out as he turns his head while he talks in order to see how the others are doing. Slowly, your hearing comes back, “-got you. Should have gotten here sooner. How are you feeling,” he turned back to you, picking you up bridal side.
“Hurs, Dee,” your words are blending, but you can’t help it.
He exits the building with you, holding onto you tightly as he sits in the passenger seat of the batmobile. Not long after, the other vigilantes exit the building, some with villains in tow, others talking in low voices. Well, low for them. To you, it was like they were yelling directly in your ears. Your hands come up to cover your ears, letting out a distressed sound.
Damian’s arms tighten around you as you begin to try to get out of his grasp, “loud...too loud. Hurts,” you squeeze your eyes shut.
“Father, get us out of here now,” Damian’s voice is loud as well as he calls to his father.
_________
You’re lucky the penthouse soundproof. Even with that, you can still hear things, but it’s all dull. Everything that happens in the penthouse, though, sounds like an airhorn in your ear. The quiet talking of the other people in the house are like shouts. The flush of the toilet is like a hurricane. The beeping of the coffee pot being done is like being right next to the tsunami siren. Not to mention every time you move, even the smallest bit, everything burns and hurts. You imagine this is how Jason Todd felt after being beaten by Joker then left to a fiery death by bomb.
You hissed slightly as you sat up on the bed. You had to get out of here. You had to get rid of the headache. You had to go somewhere quiet...and you had just the place: your dad’s Fortress of Solitude. You stumbled into the wall as you walked to the window.
Suddenly, Jon is in front of you, arms crossed and worry evident on his face. “Where are you going,” he asked.
Your right hand went up to your ear as you winced. “Quiet,” you whispered. Your left hand, which you had against the wall for support, quivered.
Jon placed both hands on your shoulders to steady you. “Let’s get you back to bed.”
“No,” you shouted. This caused Jon to jump slightly, giving you a moment to back away from him. “I-I can’t think! I can’t-I can’t concentrate! I can’t-I need-I-Hurts! Jon, it hurts! My head-My head, feels like it’s ex-exploding! I don’t care how quiet you and everyone else talks, it’s like you’re each screaming in my ears!!” By now, tears were freely falling and you had drawn a crowd.
You backed away until your back hit a wall. The fire in your veins was back and getting worse with each breath you took. “Make it...STOP!” The temperature in the room dropped and you could only watch as each of your increased breaths cooled the room even more. “What’s happening to me,” your voice cracked, as did the mirror on your wall from the amount of ice piled on it.
Damian was in front of you, placing one hand on your knee and the other on your cheek. “Beloved, you need to calm down. I will help you figure it out, but I need you to calm down...you’re scaring me.” The fact that Damian Wayne admitted that he was scared was enough to get your attention. You stared directly at him, nodding slightly.
“Damian, I’m scared. Everything hurts. I can’t think-I can’t-I can’t focus...Veins on fire.” You shut your eyes, letting out a shaky breath. You let out a scream intentionally and stood abruptly. “Injection. Lex,” you closed your eyes, trying to bring the words to your lips, “injected me with something.” You could tell your body was shaking but you couldn’t focus on it. Get it together, Kent. “Black was-Black-in my head. Changed things. Put things in.”
The different heart beats in the room were going at different speeds. It created an unsteady thrum that you couldn’t help but focus on. “What kind of things did he change,” Conner asked as quietly as he could, at least you thought he was trying for your benefit to be quiet.
You still winced at his voice, slowly sitting on the edge of your bed. “Thoughts. Feelings. All fucked up.” You put your face in your hands, trying to scrub away the tears that had fallen. “My fault. All my fault. Stupid. Idiot,” you mumbled. “Feels like-like mind’s splitting in two.”
“That’s probably an accurate description. You didn’t fully complete Lex’s plan before we interrupted. From what Conner and Jon heard, you were either supposed to be dead or under their control. Black was probably implanting memories and changing your beliefs and didn’t get to finish. Your core beliefs are fighting what he changed making your mind fight itself. As for what he injected you with, I’m running that through my systems to figure out what it was. Alfred and Stephanie are tracking down the exact components of it to see if we can create something to counteract it.” Bruce slowly stepped forward. “You just need to hold on. Clark’s almost back to Earth. We’re going to figure this out.”
___________
You’d finally passed out around five a.m. Looking at the clock, it didn’t seem worth it. Six fifteen a.m. You went through your morning routine on autopilot. You felt numb. You looked at yourself in the mirror, wincing at your battered body. You couldn’t feel it, but it sure as hell look like it hurts. Now that you think about it, you should be more worried that you couldn’t feel anything. You were battered enough that your makeup didn’t even cover the bruising.
You rolled your eyes and walked out of your room and to the kitchen. You were slightly surprised to see almost everyone sitting around the living area/kitchen. You hadn’t heard them moving around. You grabbed a plate and grabbed portions of eggs and grits. You decided to take it back to your room as all of the convenient seats were taken.
Before you could walk back to your room, a hand landed on your shoulder and turned you around. You cocked your head, why didn’t he just call for you? Dick’s mouth was moving, but you couldn’t hear his voice. The confusion must have shown on your face as Damian and your brothers approached. As much as you wanted to figure out what was wrong with your hearing, you couldn’t help but not care about it. You handed Dick your plate and turned around, locking the door behind you.
You finished your morning routine and deciding on a hat for today so that you could hide some of your bruised face. You had to get to work. You had an article due today after all. As you approved your look in the mirror, you walked out the door of your room. You gave the usual parting words to Grayson as you neared the front door, “don’t do anything stupid that I have to save your ass from today, Grayson.”
You had just made it out the door when there was another hand gripping your shoulder. You huffed and jerked out of their hold to come face to face with your father. His mouth moved and you barely made out the words ‘you’re hurt. You need to rest and heal.’ You shook your head and backed away from him.
“Article due today. Gotta finish it. I feel fine,” the truth was you didn’t feel anything at all. His arm moved quickly to grip you again, but you jerked back again, glaring at your father. “Don’t make me do something I’ll regret later, Daddy.”
Jon was on your right side and Conner on your left. Both their mouths were moving, but you couldn’t concentrate on one of them to figure out what they were saying. You started to walk away from them again. You didn’t hesitate to fight against the next hand that grabbed you. You swung the arm over you, disorienting your brother before popping his shoulder out of its socket and shoving him hard enough into the wall to leave a Jon sized print.
You didn’t bother to stop to apologize, just continued to your car. This time no one stopped you.
(Third Person POV)
Damian wasn’t sure what was going on with you. It scared him. The previous day when he couldn’t figure out how to comfort you and make the pain go away, he felt like a complete failure. He’d finally been able to get you to go to sleep around five and had promptly found his father and the others in the living area to figure out what to do to help you.
About an hour later, you walked out of the room like you were back to your old self. Like nothing had happened the previous day. Dick excused himself from the conversation as you reappeared with a plate of food, heading for your room. “(Y/N)! What are you doing up? I would think you’d be resting.” She didn’t respond. “(Y/N)?”
He placed a hand on your shoulder and you turned around, cocking your head in question. “Are you alright? How are you feeling this morning? (Y/N), can you understand me?” Each question was followed with her brow furrowing. Damian, Conner, and Jon approached you while Dick held your attention.
By the time Damian had an idea of what was wrong, you were already back in your room. He tried the door, but it was locked. He thought of picking the lock, but maybe you just needed some time to yourself.
When you came walking through the room again, this time looking like you were going out, Damian was out of his seat quicker than any of the others. “(Y/N), where are you going? You should be resting.” It didn’t seem as if you’d heard him.
“Don’t do anything stupid that I have to save your ass from today, Grayson,” you called as you grabbed your keys and proceeded out the door.
Clark was right behind you, gripping your shoulder. “I think there’s something wrong with your hearing, Sweetheart.” You turned in his grip, shrugging out of it. “You’re hurt. You need to rest and heal.”
Damian watched as your face hardened and you glared at your father. He had never seen you act this way around Clark Kent. You adored him. Sure, there were times when you argued with your father about missions, but he had never seen this pure hatred that crossed across your face. “Article due today. Gotta finish it. I feel fine.” Your voice was a little loud which supports the theory that your hearing could be shot from the previous day.
He watched as you jerked away from your father’s grip again. If you had been an animal, he could imagine your hackles rising and you growling to ward off a predator or unwanted visitor. “Don’t make me do something I’ll regret later, Daddy,” you practically spat the last word. By this time, Jon and Conner had closed in on both sides, making a narrow opening for your to walk through.
“(Y/N), Sis, this isn’t you. I think it’s best that we keep you here for today. Let us help you,” Jon held his hands out complacently.
“(Y/N/N), please. We don’t want to hurt you anymore than you already have been. Let’s go back inside,” Conner tried.
He watched as you walked away from them. “Jon, don’t-” Damian tried to call out as he saw Jon reach for you. Your demeanor suggested that another attempt to stop you would end up with one of your family hurt. You tossed him like a rag doll, dislocating his shoulder and pushing him hard enough in the wall to leave an imprint. Jon called out in pain as you walked away. Something was very wrong...and Damian was going to figure it out.

Afternoon! I hope you are all keeping well as lock down progresses. We have seen a slight easing of restrictions around certain activities and without sounding like a judgemental parent, I trust you are all still abiding by the rules! Some new music to accompany you as you go about your days. Music is one of the key things keeping me sane, that and over-barbecued sausages and strawberry ice cream as weather looks to be picking up for whatever format our summer takes.
First this week I give you Jacob Collier. The London born multi instrumentalist and producer appeared on my radar this week with the song I’m sharing. His musical talents first entered the public domain with a viral YouTube video of a split screen version of ‘Don’t You Worry ‘bout A Thing’ and subsequent signature to Quincy Jones’ management company. Collier developed a solo audio-visual experience based around track loops using his enviable special talents on multiple instruments. His style is a infuriatingly catchy mix of a cappella improv and reharmonisation mainly with a contemporary jazz groove. His debut album in 2016 titled ‘In My Room’ was recorded and produced by him from his family home and songs from this album won him two Grammy awards; his arrangements of ‘Flintstones’ and another Stevie Wonder song ‘You & I’. A further two albums have been released, the first two parts of a four part volume album collaborating with many different artists and introducing new styles and sounds. The first two albums, ‘Djesse Vol 1′ and ‘Djesse Vol 2′ were released to high acclaim and a further two Grammy awards followed for his arrangements of ‘All Night Long’ and ‘Moon River’. He has returned with a new single taken from ‘Djesse Vol 3′ to be released this summer and the one I’m sharing is the third of these singles to be released, a great track which fully showcases Collier’s undeniable talents.

Second up this week and the legendary Tony Allen. He sadly passed away in April this year and I kept meaning to share one of my favourite tracks of his and to introduce you to the guy who pretty much single-handedly founded the Afrobeat genre. Allen was born in Nigeria in 1940 and was a well respected drummer by the age of 20 playing with many notorious Nigerian jazz musicians in bit part. It wasn’t until 1964 though when Allen was invited to play in famous Afrobeat artist Fela Kuti’s new band that he found a permanent role. They subsequently became known as Fela & Afrika ‘70 and as a group they recorded over 30 albums together and it was during this time that Allen developed and introduced the wider world to his style which had evolved from a purely jazz sound to that of Afrobeat, a mix of African rhythm which is instantly recognisable but containing jazz and soul rhythmic elements. By 1979 the group were experiencing difficulties in the form of arguments over artistic leadership and royalties owed to the band so Allen decided to depart, taking many of Afrika ‘70 with him, to start a new group. Since 1980 Allen performed alongside a plethora of musical artists from all genres keen to utilise the beats of Allen. One of the more well known collaborations were the ‘supergroup’ ‘The Good, The Bad & The Queen’ which introduced Allen to Albarn, as well as The Clash’s Paul Simonon and The Verve’s Simon Tong. Albarn would work with Allen multiple times, even including Allen on the latest Gorillaz album. Allen maintained his status as a pioneer of Afrobeat and was present on tens of albums all wanting a safe pair of hands on drums whilst providing his unique style and rhythm and that’s what sets him apart. You can often tell a guitarist from the style or sound of their play but not very often you can do that with a drummer but Allen is that exception. A true great.

Last but by no means least this week we have the talented Alexander Wolfe. A singer songwriter from Cambridge, Wolfe’s first dip into the music world was when he formed a band called ‘Taxi’ with Jamie Cullum. The band had reasonable success but disbanded mainly due to Cullum’s pending solo deal which elevated him to stardom whilst Wolfe was left to go it alone. His debut solo album ‘Morning Brings A Flood’ was released in 2010 I have listened to this album at great length this week. A wonderful album containing songs packed with emotion and worthy of the acclaim it got, standout tracks for me are ‘Lazybones’ and ‘Movement’. The album was followed by the 2012 acoustic album ‘Skeletons’ and the 2014 ‘From The Shallows’, the latter containing songs which achieved mainstream airplay in ‘Trick Of The Light’ and ‘Sunburn’. His latest album ‘Little Death’ came in 2019 following a small break after liquidation of the label he was signed to. An album which is a snapshot of Wolfe and his life, it contains some beautiful songs none more so than the ode ‘Catherine’. The song I’ve chosen to share I actually found due to my interest in comedian Spencer Jones who appears in the video to the song. The track is used in the TV series Flack and lyrically at least describes Wolfe’s mental torment with himself, offset against a very sweet video with comedian Jones at his unique and weird best.

Three more songs there for you to listen to, accompanied by plenty of back catalogue from each artist show you be a fan of their sound. Until next time we speak, stay safe x

Living Consciously in These 7 Areas Will Set You Up for ANYTHING You Want in Life
In the previous post, I talked about What is Conscious Living and How we can achieve ANYTHING by practicing it. In this post, I will be discussing the 7 Areas of Life where practicing living consciously can lead us to fulfill our dream life.
In the context of conscious Living, I believe there are 7 areas of life where we need to focus on, to live the EXACT life we want. Below, I’ll be sharing those areas and their importance. Also, as a bonus, I am attaching a comprehensive question-bank at the end of the post which will help you gain consciousness in each area of life discussed. Remember, awareness is the first step to a completely different life, and answering questions is the best tool to gain awareness.
Without any delay, let’s get into the 7 Areas of Life
1. Me, Myself, & I
This is the foundational area. As the name suggests this area has everything to do with us — Be it within (our thoughts, feelings) or without (words, actions- which are nothing but the physical manifestation of our thoughts and feelings.).
This area is about introspection. This is where you discover yourself, what you want, what your goals are; You learn who you are, what you like/dislike, what works for you, what doesn’t, what are your strengths and weaknesses.
This is where you define terms like happiness, success, etc, for yourself.
Knowing yourself will impact each and every decision of your life, whether you’re choosing a career or a life partner.
Knowing yourself could be the key difference between a living a fulfilled life and not.
2. Time
“Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once”
In my opinion, Time is the most valuable currency. We are always trading time for something or the other. We trade time to study/gain knowledge, we trade time for entertainment, we trade time for health, we trade time for work, and so on.
If we lose money, we can still make it back, but time — once gone, it’s gone.
That is why it is extremely important to make every minute count. Invest your time consciously. Be intentional with your time, be purposeful, and most importantly, be present while doing what you’re doing. Give your 100% focus and attention to whatever you’re doing at that moment.
If it’s time to rest, rest. If it’s time to spend time with family/friends/loved ones, do that. If it’s time to work, work. And be there (mentally) while you’re doing whatever it is that you’re doing.
3. Money
Money is, of course, another crucial currency. One cannot survive without money. We all need money for our basic survival needs such as food, shelter, clothes, etc., let alone everything else that we desire
No matter where you are right now financially, thinking about and acting consciously with money can help you get where you wish to go faster.
It is not always about how much money you make, it is about what you do with the money you make.
“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”
Wagner’s law states that public expenditure rises constantly as income growth expands.
So, if you’re a habitual “spender”, making 10x more money won’t make you a “saver” unless you choose to do so.
Choosing to manage money as per our financial goals is a conscious act.
4. Health
What good is wealth if we can’t enjoy it with our full health.
“Health is the crown on the well person’s head that only the sick person can see. When we are young, we sacrifice our health for wealth and when we grow old and wise we realize what’s important – and become willing to sacrifice all our wealth for one day of good health.” Robin Sharma
Listen to your body, it usually tells you what’s not working.
Take care of your physical, mental, emotional health.
5. Sensory Diet
By sensory diet, I mean what we are consuming as a whole being — physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. What we are consuming through all of our senses.
Food is just one aspect of what we consume — extremely important for survival, yes, it is one part of what we consume nonetheless.
Except for food, we are also consuming what we are listening (music, news, sounds of nature, sounds of engineering, etc), watching (movies, shows, news, videos), reading (books, magazines, social media), aromas, energies (relationships).
Get present to what all you’re consuming.
Get present to its impact on your quality of life, your health, and your well-being.
Our Environment is stronger than will-power. Create an environment that supports you in your needs and wants. If you are, for example, committed to positivity then consume positive content, be it through social media, books, audio, etc. Unfollow/mute/stop engaging with that which doesn’t fulfill your purpose. Listen to positive songs/podcasts, read positive text. Look for “good” news. Surround yourself with positive people.
Create an environment that sets you up for achieving your goals and dreams.
6. Relationships
According to a study conducted by Harvard (one of the longest studies ever conducted spanning over 75 years and still going on), good relationships keep us happier and healthier. You can watch the ted talk here
“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
It is extremely important to choose your tribe, choose who you spend your time with, and focus on the quality of the relationships.
Choose to hang out with people who you want to be like, who have similar goals, who get the best out of you, who motivate you, inspire you, make you feel good about yourself, add value to your life.
7. Environment
I am left in awe every time I think about the Earth and how everything seems to works seamlessly. The whole ecosystem of plants, animals, all the natural events, etc., are all doing their part, working together in harmony for a greater cause. It is mind-blowing how all this works. We truly live in a magical place.
Get present to the impact of your actions on the environment. While we can’t stop living altogether, being aware of our actions and their effects on the environment can help us choose our lifestyle consciously. Each bit counts
----
To Conclude
These 7 areas cover pretty much all of our life. Whatever our dreams and aspirations are, we can achieve them by living consciously in these areas.
I’ll be expanding on each of the above-mentioned areas in the coming posts. Sign up for my newsletter to be the first one to know and get it delivered right to your mailbox!
Tips & Resources
Before closing this post, I highly recommend you read the two books mentioned below if you want to practice living and adopt new habits consciously.
A book that set me on the path of conscious living — After reading this, I started getting present to what I am doing and the decisions I am making Mindfulness by Ellen J Langer
We do need self-discipline to consciously put new habits into place and this book will help you do just that in all areas of life No Excuses!: The Power of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy
The more you practice living consciously, the better you become at it, and the easier it will be for you to create the EXACT life that you want. The life of your dreams!
The best way to gain consciousness is to ask questions. Awareness is the first step to living a conscious life. As promised, here is the download link for a comprehensive question-bank covering all areas of life discussed above. Answering these questions will certainly help you be more conscious in your everyday life, as it helped me.

I had a difficult week, but I got some nice work done. There is a new way to add complicated tag seaches, and repository processing is now a lot easier to work with.
complicated tag searching
Users in help->advanced mode will now see a new 'OR' button on their search pages' autocomplete dropdowns. Click this, and you will be able to paste a logically complicated pure-text query such as "( blue eyes and blonde hair ) or ( green eyes and red hair )", and it will automatically convert it to a tag query hydrus can understand! (It converts it to conjunctive normal form, or ANDs of ORs)
This code is thanks to user prkc, who wrote a really neat parser to do the conversion. The system even supports XOR! Complicated searches will produce similarly crazy hydrus search predicates--which may in some cases run a little slow--so give it a go and see how you like it. This is mostly a first prototype to see how it goes in the real world, and I am happy to revisit it based on feedback.
thoughts on current big tag work
I spent a bit of time thinking about tag management and inefficiencies this week, planning what I want to do in this big tag overhaul job. I also did some statistical analysis of the public tag repository to see how different tags are distributed.
not sure how well this will embed, I’ll post it in follow-up if it stays small
Of the nine million unique tags in the PTR, six million only apply to one file. These are mostly 'title:' tags and some misparsed garbage. These tags have long been a concern for me, and I feared they consumed a huge amount of space, but in truth (and of course, when you think about it), one-and-done tags are less than one percent of the actual file-tag mapping storage. They eat up a bunch of 'definition' space, but barely any 'content' space. About two thirds of total storage is taken up by good unnamespaced tags like 'hairband' or 'sitting' or 'twin braids'. Namespaced tags like 'series:' and 'character:' and newer sorts I have been tentatively approving siblings for, like 'clothing:', generally distribute a few percent each, perhaps 20 million each (out of a total 630 million or so). There are some non-descriptive tags I don't like much, like 'booru:' and 'filename:' tags, but there are no gigantic wastes of space in the PTR.
This is a pleasant surprise, but also its own problem: in the back of my mind, I had hoped I might be able to cut the PTR neatly in half by eliminating wasteful/useless tags, but it turns out the vast majority of tags, in terms of sheer storage, are good. I had considered adding a complicated serverside Tag List approved-tag filter as many boorus have, but I do not think it is worth the trouble at this time.
Therefore, I will focus my upcoming work on improving clientside control of what you see, where you see it, and how you see it. If you do not want to see 'booru:' tags, I want to make it easy to hide them. If you want all the new 'bodypart:' tags to display as unnamespaced, I want it to be one quick rule to set that. I want it to be simple to move a hundred million tags from one place to another, and to share them with other users.
The separate question of dealing with running the PTR and my current bandwidth throttle is a different problem that I have yet to plan out. I may add an IPFS plugin for the hydrus server, or server mirroring tech, or there may be another solution. I am a developer most of all, not a natural server administrator, so my dream scenario here is probably to freeze the current PTR and make its snapshot easy to modify and migrate about so users can run their own tag repositories and it is out of my hands. This would also neatly remove my single point of failure. My preference is to focus my time on improving how the servers work and improve administration functionality, but I am still thinking about it.
better repo processing
After thinking about tags and workflows, I decided to just go nuts and rework tag repository processing to no longer be a big application-blocking job! Somehow, it seems to work!
So, rather than making the 'dialog' popup that blocks the program, repo processing now works in a normal bottom-right popup. It streams work to the database in packets and no longer locks anything for long. You can still browse your files and do everything else in the program, with the only significant caveat being some operations like autocomplete tag results fetching may be a bit juddery. The program will no longer lock up for long periods while doing this work, and the cancel button will always be available.
As a result, the 'process now' button under services->review services is now available for all users, not just advanced ones, and loses its big warning. Please feel free to try it out.
The basic workflow and feedback is the same. It will still work through update files and report current rows/s. For this initial version, in most situations it will be slower than before, but in others it will actually be faster. As before, it runs best if left to work in idle/shutdown mode, where it will be greedier and work harder. I still recommend users leave it to work in normal maintenance cycles, but manual catch-up, if desired, is now much more pleasant and easily cancelled.
This is a first version of a big change. The pre-process disk cache run is no longer called, and work and break and transactions timings have been altered. Users on fast SSDs with good CPUs should not notice any big differences, but those who PTR-sync on HDDs may have trouble (or at least be better able to see the ~300 rows/s trouble they have been having all along). Please let me know how you get on and what sort of rows/s you see. Does it accelerate over time? Does it make your browsing or video rendering juddery? I will write a more intelligent throttle in the coming weeks that will speed this processing up when there is CPU available.
This is an important step forward on the tag work and my new unified global maintenance pipeline. I'd love to have the similarly chunky 'analyze' and 'vacuum' commands work a bit more like this as well.
I have been chasing an ui-lockup bug recently that may have been tied to long-running tag repository processing while the client was idle and/or minimised. If you got this (on restoring your client, you'd see black except perhaps a bit of a garbled screenshot in one corner), please let me know if this week happens to fix it.
the rest
The 'this video has an audio track, but it is silent' code from last week had a flaw (such files were detected as having audio) that slipped through testing. I have fixed this and extended the test to recognise more types of silent file. Thank you for submitting test files here. If you discover any more video files that detect as having audio--or not--incorrectly with this new code, please submit them.
Also, an odd issue where thumbnails of files that underwent a file metadata regeneration would not display archive/tag/rating updates until they were reloaded is now fixed. This bug had been in for a long time, but the rush of new files into the file maintenance system from last week exposed it.
I extended and improved some of the recent 'don't do work while page is not shown or gui is minimised' stuff this week. Duplicate processing pages should be more careful about when they fetch new duplicate counts (speeding up session load for users with several dupe processing pages), and the animation issue from last week that froze media viewers' videos while the main gui was minimised should all be fixed.
I also gave the autocomplete fast-typing logic another pass. Some users were reporting that typing 'blue eyes' might instead add 'blue ey' and similar. I cleaned up the 'should I broadcast the current typed text or the currently selected result?' test and I think I have it working better now. If you are a very fast typer, please continue to let me know how this works for you.
Query texts for some booru downloaders that contain '&', such as 'panty_&_stocking', should now be fixed!
The pixiv login script no longer works and has been removed from the defaults. They added some sort of captcha. If you wish to log in to pixiv with hydrus, please use the Client API and Hydrus Companion to copy your web browser's cookies to hydrus:
https://gitgud.io/prkc/hydrus-companion
Logging in this way seems to work well for many situations, and will be the go-to recommendation for any site that has a login system more complicated than hydrus can currently deal with. I believe the Deviant Art login system may have gone/be going that way as well, so if you have had DA trouble, give Hydrus Companion a go.
full list
repo processing makeover:
repository processing is now no longer a monolithic atomic database job! it now loads update files at a 'higher' level and streams packets of work to the database without occupying it continuously! hence, repository processing no longer creates a 'modal' popup that blocks the client--you can keep browsing while it works, and it won't hang up the client!
this new system runs on some different timings. in this first version, it will have lower rows/s in some situations and higher in others. please send me feedback if your processing is running significantly slower than before and I will tweak how this new routine decides to work and take breaks
multiple repos can now sync at once, ha ha
shutdown repository processing now states the name of the service being processed and x/y update process in the exit splash screen
the process that runs after repository processing that re-syncs all the open thumbnails' tags now works regardless of the number of thumbnails open and works asynchronously, streaming new tag managers in a way that will not block the main thread
'process now' button on review services is now available to all users and has a reworded warning text
the 1 hour limit on a repo processing job is now gone
pre-processing disk cache population is tentatively gone--let's see how it goes
the 10s db transaction time is raised to 30s. this speed some things up, including the new repo processing, but if a crash occurs, hydrus may now lose up to 30s of changes before the crash
.
the rest:
users in advanced mode now have a 'OR' button on their serch autocomplete input dropdown panels. this button opens a new panel that plugs into prkc's neat raw-text -> CNF parser, which allows you to enter raw-text searches such as '( blue eyes and blonde hair ) or ( green eyes and red hair )' into hydrus
fixed the silent audio track detection code, which was handling a data type incorrectly
improved the silent audio track detection code to handle another type of silence, thank you to the users who submitted examples--please send more false positives if you find them
fixed an issue where thumbnails that underwent a file metadata regeneration were not appearing to receive content updates (such as archive, or new tags/ratings) until a subsequent reload showed they had happened silently. this is a long-time bug, but the big whack of files added to the files maintenance system last week revealed it
the 'pause ui update cycles while main gui is minimised' change from last week now works on a per-frame basis. if the main gui is minimised, media viewers that are up will still run videos and so on, and vice versa
a few more ui events (e.g. statusbar & menubar updates) no longer occur while the client is minimised
duplicate processing pages will now only initialise and refresh their maintenance and dupe count numbers while they are the current page. this should speed up session load for heavy users and those with multiple duplicate pages open
gave the new autocomplete 'should broadcast the current text' tests another pass--it should be more reliable now broadcasting 'blue eyes' in the up-to-200ms window where the stub/full results for, say, 'blue ey' are still in
fixed an accidental logical error that meant 'character:'-style autocomplete queries could do a search and give some odd results, rather than just 'character:*anything*'. a similar check is added to the 'write' autocomplete
fixed an issue with autocomplete not clearing its list properly, defaulting back to the last cached results, when it wants to fetch system preds but cannot due to a busy db
fixed GET-argument gallery searches for search texts that include '&', '=', '/', or '?' (think 'panty_&_stocking_with_garterbelt')
removed the pixiv login script from the defaults--apparently they have added a captcha, so using Hydrus Companion with the Client API is now your best bet
the client's petition processing page will now prefer to fetch the same petition type as the last completed job, rather than always going for the top type with non-zero count
the client's petition processing page now has options to sort parent or sibling petitions by the left side or right--and it preserves check status!
the client's petition processing page now sorts tags by namespace first, then subtag
the client now starts, restarts, and stops port-hosted services using the same new technique as the server, increasing reliability and waiting more correctly for previous services to stop and so on
the client now explicitly commands its services to shut down on application close. a rare issue could sometimes leave the process alive because of a client api still hanging on to an old connection and having trouble with the shut-down db
the file maintenance manager will no longer spam to log during shutdown maintenance
sketched out first skeleton of the new unified global maintenance manager
improved some post-boot-error shutdown handling that was also doing tiny late errors on server 'stop' command
added endchan bunker links to contact pages and github readme
updated to ffmpeg 4.2 on windows
next week
Next week is a 'small jobs' week, and I have a ton to catch up on. I want to do some more Client API stuff and just hammer out a whole bunch of small things. I'll also tweak the new repository processing as needed and start work on better local tag management, maybe exploring how best to add multiple local tag services.

The Bottomless Blue - Chapter One
Merman!Hux x Reader fic
You were just an aquarium employee who loved the ocean. What happens when you're exploring a shipwreck and run into a legendary creature? What happens when that same creature ends up as an exhibit at the aquarium you work at? Will you help set him free or leave him to be used as a new exhibit at the aquarium?
chapter is based off this AU
Dark.
Blue.
Vast.
All the ways you could describe the ocean. You felt the spray of seawater on your face as you looked out at it. It had always interested you since you were a child. You’d spent as much time as possible by the sea when you were a child at your grandparent’s house. After they passed away, you inherited their house and spent all your time there when you could get away from work. You worked a desk job at an exotic aquarium in the city and even though you were surrounded by all kinds of sea creatures, there was nothing like seeing the creatures in their natural habitat.
To get closer to life under the sea, you had taken up diving. Deep sea diving was your favorite way to pass the time. You had taken to exploring shipwrecks off the coast, usually, these wrecks had been untouched by others for so long that it was almost like getting a snapshot of history before the ships sunk. Today your plan was to search a particularly old vessel, it was from the 1800s and hadn’t been touched by archaeologists in twenty-five years. You were excited to get down there to see the huge vessel, you’d planned your trip for the last few weeks. In the early morning, you’d planned to take your small boat out to the vessel, fish for a while then dive for a few hours after the sun had risen.
You had set up your fishing rods and waited for fish to bite but all morning you’d been unsuccessful. You had not been able to catch a single fish. Every time you had one on the line, it somehow broke free. The fish would fight for a minute or two before the line would suddenly go slack. You swore you could always see a flash of red before the fish disappeared. You thought maybe your line was getting snagged on something that made it easy for the fish to free themselves. Oh well, you had food at home and at least you got to watch the sunrise on the water.
You pulled on your wetsuit and the rest of your scuba gear before standing on the edge of your boat. You hadn’t been to this wreck before and couldn't wait to get down there to see what treasures you could unearth. You turned your back to the water and plunged in backward. The shock of the water’s temperature disoriented you for a few seconds before you found your way and let yourself sink down. You turned on your chest-mounted video camera and started to swim deeper down toward the wreck. As the shipwreck came into view, you were in awe of its size. This ship was astounding. Even though it was partially destroyed before it sunk to the bottom of the sea, the salt water had preserved what was left and what was left amazed you. The masts and the deck still stood in its state of decay, well floated, as if they ship was still afloat. You swam up the starboard side of the ship and looked over the ship. You could still picture it floating the harbor a few miles up the coast. It would stand tall against the small speedboats that now occupied the harbor.
You glanced around swam up towards the crow’s nest. You swam next to it to pretend to get a bird’s eye view of the ship. From up here, you could see everything except for the holes in the ship from cannonballs that caused its demise. That’s what you wanted to see, how the ocean had regrown around the ship. Unclipping your flashlight from your utility belt, you swam towards the port side of the ship heading for the outside to get a look at the cannonball entry holes.
As you got closer, you noticed that there we no fish around. That was strange considering that fish usually stayed close to wrecks like this for the shelter they provided. It would explain why you had trouble catching any fish earlier. For some reason, the fish were absent from this place and probably were even more skittish closer to the surface so they fought hard to get off your hook.
You found yourself staring at a giant hole in the side of the ship, the cannonball that had made this hole had to have been massive, you could almost crawl through it. The hole left by the cannonball led into the dark interior of the ship. This is what you came for, to see the storage rooms and gun decks of the ship. It would be cool to see the cannons and cannonballs left behind when the ship was abandoned. Maybe the sailors left behind objects that were now encrusted in salt that would be interesting to see. You wouldn’t dream of taking anything because you believed in leaving the wreck as it was, but you never got tired of seeing historical artifacts in this ocean environment.
You neared the hole and shone your flashlight inside of it, the beams got weaker the deeper into the ship they went but you could make out a few fish among some barrels and crates. Switching on your chest-mounted video camera’s flash, you swam into the hole. You made sure to get a good shot of the rotting boards around the hole as you entered, documenting the ships state of decay. You looked around the belly of the ship at the rotting barrels and crates and wondered what treasures were inside. As you pushed open a crate full of wine bottles, you felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up. You could swear you felt someone was watching you but you brushed it off to being this deep and in a dark room in an abandoned ship.
You swam through the rest of cargo hold looking through crates and barrels and getting footage of the contents of the ship. You chuckled at a crate full of fish bones and wondered why the long deceased crew had stored the bones of the fish in crates rather than throwing the bones overboard. You swam pass the captain’s quarters and got the feeling of being watched again. You glanced around and after seeing nothing, you ventured inside. The first thing you noticed was another large cannonball hole in the hull leading back to the open depths. You got a shot of the inside of the cannonball entry point then started to take in the room. The remains of the bed floated near the top of the room as it was being slowly consumed by shipworms. That’s when you noticed another crate full of fish bones. How many had the crew left behind and how had the bones stayed in these crates without moving for so long?
You moved over to take pictures of the desk in the corner of the room. On it were stacked piles of trinkets. Small gemstones and trinkets mostly but also a few other small things. You opened a small box and its contents surprised you. The small box was stuffed with small seemingly random objects. A shot glass, a bracelet made with gemstones and a pair of sunglasses. You felt something off about the box but a movement in the corner of your eye caught your attention. You looked up but saw nothing in the room.
That’s when it hit you. The sunglasses in the box, Ray-Bans, weren’t made until the 1930s, how were these sunglasses in the box? You felt your body tense as you spotted the crate of fish bones in your peripheral vision. When you thought about it, the fish bones couldn’t have been from the 1800s, they would have decomposed by now. How were there fresh fish bones in the belly of the ship? It didn’t make sense, was someone making regular dives down here to put fishbones and a pair of sunglasses? Or was it a practical joke by some divers that you happened to stumble upon? You were thoroughly creeped out at this point and wanted to get out of the wreck and get to the surface to calm your nerves. You turned around towards the door and what you saw made your heart stop.
Standing, well swimming in the doorway was a man, if you could call him a man. He had a shock of bright red hair, pale blue-green eyes and an angular face with pale skin. But what was scaring you the most was the dark green tail that started at the end of his pale torso. The scales sparkled in the beams of your flashlight with each pass through the still water.
You were frozen in fear as your adrenaline began to surge as the man appeared to be sizing you up from across the room. You couldn’t take your eyes off of him even though your mind was screaming at you to leave. You watched as the man tilted his head and looked you over again before smiling. His smile was what turned on your body’s fight or flight response. When he parted his lips to smile, you were greeted with the sight of rows of sharp pointed teeth. That was enough for you to toss the small box in your hand in his direction before diving towards the cannonball hole in the hull. You didn’t look back as you switched the controls on your buoyancy compensator jacket, using it to propel you to the surface as fast as possible. You weren't worried about decompression sickness at this point, you just wanted out of here.
As soon as you felt your jacket pulling you to the surface, you risked a glance below you back to the shipwreck. You felt your adrenaline spike again as you saw the man, leaning out of the cannonball hole up towards you. With that sight, you began to kick your feet to speed your ascent. When you got to the surface, you ignored the pressure and ringing in your ears in favor of ripping your mask off and swimming towards your boat. You heaved yourself over the ladder and pulled it up before collapsing behind the steering wheel. As you caught your breath you started the engine and reeled in the anchor. As you pulled away from the shipwreck and put some distance between it and yourself, you glanced back, still in shock about what you had seen. You were terrified to see a head with a shock of bright red hair floating just above the surface before it dipped below and a green tail splashed in its wake.
As soon as you got home, you promised yourself that you were not getting in open water anytime in the foreseeable future. But what had you seen? Was it a man in a costume? That would explain the tail and teeth or was it something else?

jasmine | prologue
Taehyung x Reader | mafia!AU warning: mentions of a destructive relationship, angst, no fluff of smut yet
You were never supposed to be in that club in the first place, but you couldn't just let your best friend walk into the lion's liar without backup. Especially when you knew that a particular set of gangsters ran it. Next thing you know, you find yourself infatuated with the smell of jasmine and the silky stare of the man who held so much fear in his name. Flowers have thorns, and Kim Taehyung was no exception.
You stared down at the bed that you two had been sharing for three years now, sucking in a tight breath to suffocate the tears that threatened to come out. You had tried for so long to make this work, spent countless nights cold and alone while sleeping next to him. You couldn’t take it— you would not take it anymore.
For months you had been thinking this over, your guilt a horrible menace that stomped its feet all over your mind but your overcoming fear was enough to propel the single thought forward with enough force that woke you up one morning weeks ago: you had to leave him.
So, you waited. You laid out your plan in your mind, timing how long the jobs took; you even tested the creaking of each floorboard in your two-floor house. Nothing could be out of place; your boyfriend was trained to have an eye that noticed if anything was amiss, and you shuddered at the thought of him finding out about the one-way train ticket you bought a week ago (you hid it in an old shoe box for good measures).
Now, you sat on the edge of the king-sized bed, fingers trailing on the black silk sheets. You jumped at the sudden beeping coming from your watch and silence it before exhaling slowly as if that would help relieve the tension that’s been growing in your chest from the moment you woke up this morning in his arms. You glanced at the time; it was 9:45pm exactly. “I’m sorry,” you whispered to the photo on his side of the dresser, the small Polaroid picture of him kissing your cheek as you feigned a cringe.
Before, you had felt so safe with your hand in his; now, you couldn’t look him in the eyes for more than thirty seconds without glancing down at his right hand, the same one that held guns to heads. Before, you would sit in his lap with a game console in your hands, freely laughing as he nipped your ear to distract you into letting Jungkook win whatever game it was that you were playing so that he could have you all to himself. Now, you would sit as close to him as you could without letting him see the shake in your hands. He was your nicotine; his taste was addicting and you knew that the withdrawal effects would be a pain in the ass, but this was for the best. If he wasn’t going to meet you halfway, then you were going to walk in the opposite direction, no matter how much it burned to do so.
You stood, shouldering the backpack that you used during your camping trips with your friends, and you take a few steps until you’re looking out the window. His car wasn’t in the driveway, as it wouldn’t be for at least two more hours, meaning that when he did come home, it would be to a quiet one. He would like the quiet for a while, getting a chance to breathe after the heated meeting with another gang; but then he would realize what kind of silence it was, that your house was overcome with the silence resulted from the lack of life within it, and that’s when he would start calling your name.
You let thoughts of him fade into nothingness and descended the stairs, trailing fingers on the railing as you went down. Stepping into the kitchen, you grabbed a few more granola bars that you had stashed in the back a while ago, avoiding the strawberry flavored ones since those were his favorite. You were walking towards the door when your feet started to feel heavier with each step until you stopped walking and just stood to stare at the piece of wood that stood between you and the outside world. Were you really about to leave him, leave the man that had made your world swirl with life and left your mouth tasting like milk and honey? Were you really just going to go, leaving with a note on the bed saying “Please understand that I love you, but I can’t do this anymore”?
Your hands began shaking and that sob you had kept in for so long had broken past your lips, the pang in your chest turning into thunderous pounding as you scrubbed at the tears pouring down your cheeks, as you pulled at your hair. You did love him—gods, you loved him so much. But it felt like you were losing him to every shot he fired and while you wanted to blame Namjoon for leading him down this road, you knew that he was given a choice every time. Now, it was your time to make choices, and this choice was made out of love, and out of desperation to keep the two of you from destroying each other.
You took another step forward but then paused, an idea popping to your head, and before you could even think about it truly, you found yourself running back down the stairs, this time with his black hoodie pulled over your shirt. He wouldn’t miss it, and while you scorned yourself for wanting to be reckless and take something of his, you couldn’t bring yourself to part with it. It was the first thing he had given you many years ago.
When you brought the hood up over your head, you breathed in his scent, that smoky air that was always somehow laced with jasmine. It was the thing that popped out about him when you had met five years ago when his hair fell just above his eyes and you wondered how someone could look like the devil holding a revolver but smell like an angel caught in a storm. Even then, you knew he would be the end of you; you just didn’t think it would have taken him down as well.
The warm hoodie engulfing you up to your mid-thigh was enough support to make you take another deep breath before unlocking the door, stepping outside and closing it behind you. You threw your keys into the bushes and walked down the sidewalk, not looking back at the place you had both called “home”.
Five minutes later, you stand at the side of the beach, the sand brushing over your black converse as you threw your old SIM card with all your might into the sea. It disappeared under the dark water; you turned away, ticking off yet another thing from your plan.
Then, you were in one of the many train stations in Seoul, waiting on a bench for your 10:30pm train to arrive in ten minutes and take you to your friend’s place in Daegu. By now, you were a bit calmer than before, the twisting in your chest relieving more and more as time passed. A kind man who claimed he would put it above your seat had taken your bag; you never thought you would be so grateful to see a smiling face. Before you handed over your bag, you took your phone with its new SIM card and your wallet to buy yourself some tea for the trip ahead of you.
The bells above café door chimed as you went inside, and you flashed a smile to the young girl working behind the counter. “Could I get a regular Earl Grey tea please?”
She nodded, took the bill you handed her and informed you that she’d call you up when the tea was ready, so you took a seat at an empty table for two. You sighed, unlocking your phone before opening the photos app. You couldn’t help the wobbling of your bottom lip as you swiped through the selfies you took with him, the photos you had taken while he was doing such small mundane things. Your finger hovered for a second over the play icon before you play the video, watching the boys running down the sandy shore of the beach you all decided to visit.
Their hooting could be heard faintly over the whirling of the hot water machine in the front. It was as if you were there again, standing with the sand under your toes while watching Jimin and Jungkook race each other to the sea. You were behind the camera until Namjoon face brightened by a smile popped up as he grabbed the phone from you and turned it to you.
You huffed out a chuckle as you watched your poor attempt at aegyo, but suddenly you were taken aback by the youthfulness of your face. Your eyes were shining with joy, your mouth stretched easily into the grin of a girl completely smitten by a group of attractive men. It was hard to remember who you once were; when you looked in the mirror nowadays, you still saw a young girl in love, but there were more shadows lurking in your irises than there had been before you met him, that night when jasmine became your favorite scent.
You didn’t even realize that you were crying until a tear fell from your lashes onto your phone screen, and you hastily swiped at your eyes when your tea is placed before you. “Thank you,” you mumbled, still looking down at where the video ended, the snapshot of him picking you up into the air and kissing you as the boys shouted “cooties” at the two of you.
Maybe you were making a mistake by leaving; you knew he would go to the ends of the world to find you, but you still wanted time to yourself. You needed to find yourself after having had led yourself beneath the angry storm of gang conflicts.
You sighed, reaching for the tea—
You were so caught up in your emotions that up until now, you didn’t even realize how quiet the café had gotten, nor did you realize that someone had taken the seat at your table. You looked up at the counter where the barista was but she had disappeared; you turned your gaze then to the person in front of you.
You froze as the world suddenly stopped spinning.
He sat across from you, staring out the café window at the train that was now ready for boarding. He didn’t change out of what he was wearing when you last saw him in the morning on his way out to meet with the boys; his black shirt and black jeans didn’t show the blood stains that you somehow knew was on him, his knuckles purple and red from bruising as if he had hit someone or something repeatedly. He wore a black hat over his dark hair; the strands had grown longer than the first time you had met.
Your eyes traced his split lip, dried blood staining it, and despite your utter mortification of his presence here, you drank in his stoic expression hungrily. He was the definition of lust, everything about him screamed of sin; and yet, you thought that you could still see the ghost of his loving grin, the way his eyes would twinkly with childlike delight at the simple things.
Sitting before you now though, you couldn’t see your boyfriend. In fact, it was the man who had beaten your wonderful lover and taken his skin—this was Bangtan’s famed interrogator. And god, were you in deep shit.
His voice was midnight wrapped in the darkest blue of satin, each word rolling off his tongue like a psalm. “I came home early to surprise you; by the time I was about to open our front door, Yoongi called me to let me know that one of his men saw you waiting at this train station.” With that, he threw your backpack, the one you had given to the smiling attendant, onto the floor beside your chair. You winced at the loud sound it made, and your heart dropped at the spray of blood staining the periwinkle shade. “I called him bluff at first, but then I read your note.” He braced his folded hands over the table and you flinched. He still wasn’t looking at you. “So, I sped here to find you ready to drink some tea and move on.”
You were shaking in your seat, not sure how to approach this situation. Usually, it was a scream fest that made up your fights or the complete silent treatment on your half until he was shoving you into a wall and forcing a scream out of you with his tongue and fingers working against you. That was how Tae dealt with your problems, but you already knew who was sitting across from you now.
Kim Taehyung looked at you now, still devastatingly beautiful with his eyes drilling into your mind, as you stifled a whimper at its intensity. “Did you really think that I would just let you go?”
You exhaled a shaky breath, unable to tear your eyes from his gaze as you began to shake your head. “Tae—“ His fist came down on the table with a loud bang, the sound making you jump. Fear rocketed into your chest when you realized how you two were the only ones in the café, and how quickly the situation has escalated. He was staring daggers at you. “You promised that it would be us against the world. You made me a promise, and now you were just going to leave all that we have behind?”
The tears that you were trying to keep in finally slipped out. “I had to; we were killing each other, Tae. Please,” you said in a shaky tone, too afraid to move and wipe away the downpour of tears. “Please, let me go.”
He stared at you, breaths coming in unevenly as though he had run a marathon. “Let you go?” He repeated in disbelief, afterward letting out a dark chuckle before leaning forward on his forearms. His eyes were wide and red, red from tears or drugs or maybe even both. “You’re not going anywhere, darling.”
A/N: ahhh hello, everyone! I’ve never actually posted my fics online before, and this is my first time writing a plot like this one so give me some love ^^
I hope to be active on this page now, but bear with me if my posts come at irregular hours <3 hope you enjoyed the prologue; I had fun writing it and I can’t wait to show you more >:) I love you, and have a great day!

I've attached some photos taken with this camera. There are plenty of detailed reviews on the net if you want a more detailed overview. My only complaint would be that the original house corroded and became damaged within 1 week of salt water and high sun use ! However amazon gave me credit to purchase a replacement and I bought 2 FOTOWELT houses which have been incredibly good. I really rate this camera highly enough for £100 there really isn't any better option.Even the video stills are really good quality I use VLC to snapshot frames from the 2560p video and they are really good. The battery life has been better than I expected and much better than previous action camera's I've had in the past. The 2560 x 1440 video is really crisp and the colours are really accurate. The photo time lapse mode at 0.5s is great. But it is incredibly impressive, the only GoPro better is the 4 Black edition, which is 4 times the price ! The Gitup2 has virtually every setting you can image even RAW image. It takes a while to get used to the setting for the light conditions etc.

The next big discovery in astronomy? Scientists probably found it years ago – but they don't know it yet
by Eileen Meyer
Earlier this year, astronomers stumbled upon a fascinating finding: Thousands of black holes likely exist near the center of our galaxy.
The X-ray images that enabled this discovery weren’t from some state-of-the-art new telescope. Nor were they even recently taken – some of the data was collected nearly 20 years ago.
No, the researchers discovered the black holes by digging through old, long-archived data.
Discoveries like this will only become more common, as the era of “big data” changes how science is done. Astronomers are gathering an exponentially greater amount of data every day – so much that it will take years to uncover all the hidden signals buried in the archives.
The evolution of astronomy
Sixty years ago, the typical astronomer worked largely alone or in a small team. They likely had access to a respectably large ground-based optical telescope at their home institution.
Their observations were largely confined to optical wavelengths – more or less what the eye can see. That meant they missed signals from a host of astrophysical sources, which can emit non-visible radiation from very low-frequency radio all the way up to high-energy gamma rays. For the most part, if you wanted to do astronomy, you had to be an academic or eccentric rich person with access to a good telescope.
Old data was stored in the form of photographic plates or published catalogs. But accessing archives from other observatories could be difficult – and it was virtually impossible for amateur astronomers.
Today, there are observatories that cover the entire electromagnetic spectrum. No longer operated by single institutions, these state-of-the-art observatories are usually launched by space agencies and are often joint efforts involving many countries.
With the coming of the digital age, almost all data are publicly available shortly after they are obtained. This makes astronomy very democratic – anyone who wants to can reanalyze almost any data set that makes the news. (You too can look at the Chandra data that led to the discovery of thousands of black holes!)
The Hubble Space Telescope. NASA
These observatories generate a staggering amount of data. For example, the Hubble Space Telescope, operating since 1990, has made over 1.3 million observations and transmits around 20 GB of raw data every week, which is impressive for a telescope first designed in the 1970s. The Atacama Large Millimeter Array in Chile now anticipates adding 2 TB of data to its archives every day.
Data firehose
The archives of astronomical data are already impressively large. But things are about to explode.
Each generation of observatories are usually at least 10 times more sensitive than the previous, either because of improved technology or because the mission is simply larger. Depending on how long a new mission runs, it can detect hundreds of times more astronomical sources than previous missions at that wavelength.
For example, compare the early EGRET gamma ray observatory, which flew in the 1990s, to NASA’s flagship mission Fermi, which turns 10 this year. EGRET detected only about 190 gamma ray sources in the sky. Fermi has seen over 5,000.
The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, an optical telescope currently under construction in Chile, will image the entire sky every few nights. It will be so sensitive that it will generate 10 million alerts per night on new or transient sources, leading to a catalog of over 15 petabytes after 10 years.
The Square Kilometre Array, when completed in 2020, will be the most sensitive telescope in the world, capable of detecting airport radar stations of alien civilizations up to 50 light-years away. In just one year of activity, it will generate more data than the entire internet.
These ambitious projects will test scientists’ ability to handle data. Images will need to be automatically processed – meaning that the data will need to be reduced down to a manageable size or transformed into a finished product. The new observatories are pushing the envelope of computational power, requiring facilities capable of processing hundreds of terabytes per day.
The resulting archives – all publicly searchable – will contain 1 million times more information that what can be stored on your typical 1 TB backup disk.
Unlocking new science
The data deluge will make astronomy become a more collaborative and open science than ever before. Thanks to internet archives, robust learning communities and new outreach initiatives, citizens can now participate in science. For example, with the computer program Einstein@Home, anyone can use their computer’s idle time to help search for gravitational waves from colliding black holes.
It’s an exciting time for scientists, too. Astronomers like myself often study physical phenomena on timescales so wildly beyond the typical human lifetime that watching them in real-time just isn’t going to happen. Events like a typical galaxy merger – which is exactly what it sounds like – can take hundreds of millions of years. All we can capture is a snapshot, like a single still frame from a video of a car accident.
However, there are some phenomena that occur on shorter timescales, taking just a few decades, years or even seconds. That’s how scientists discovered those thousands of black holes in the new study. It’s also how they recently realized that the X-ray emission from the center of a nearby dwarf galaxy has been fading since first detected in the 1990s. These new discoveries suggest that more will be found in archival data spanning decades.
A black-hole-powered jet of hot gas in the giant elliptical galaxy M87. NASA, ESA, E. Meyer, W. Sparks, J. Biretta, J. Anderson, S.T. Sohn, and R. van der Marel (STScI), C. Norman (Johns Hopkins University), and M. Nakamura (Academia Sinica)
In my own work, I use Hubble archives to make movies of “jets,” high-speed plasma ejected in beams from black holes. I used over 400 raw images spanning 13 years to make a movie of the jet in nearby galaxy M87. That movie showed, for the first time, the twisting motions of the plasma, suggesting that the jet has a helical structure.
This kind of work was only possible because other observers, for other purposes, just happened to capture images of the source I was interested in, back when I was in kindergarten. As astronomical images become larger, higher resolution and ever more sensitive, this kind of research will become the norm.

Network Monitor Little Snitch
Little Snitch Network Monitor makes Internet Connections visible. It shows which application, Unix command or system service (“process”) connects to which Internet server. It also shows where this Internet server is located geographically. And it records statistics for each connection: The amount of data transferred, data rates for the last hour, ports used, …
Opening Network Monitor, Little Snitch Configuration and Preferences. Switching between Silent Mode and Alert Mode. Activate profiles. When a traffic capture is running, an option to stop it. Drag an application on the status menu icon to create a new rule for it. Configuration options.
Overview
The popular Little Snitch utility for the Mac is out with a new version that includes Touch Bar support on new MacBook Pros, a redesigned Network Monitor, and much more. Little Snitch Stories.
Sep 08, 2017 Little Snitch used to have a semi-useful Network Monitor window that operated separately from its configuration app that showed you a chart of inbound and outbound activity, what apps. Oct 13, 2018 Little Snitch Network Monitor is a good monitoring tool, the threshold of network traffic monitoring can be taken to a whole new level.
Hey guys, here is small video on how to monitor network traffic on Mac OS X with Little Snitch by Jordan from http://www.blogsdna.com.
Monitor outbound traffic with Little Snitch 3. Security software developer Objective Development has released a new version of the popular firewall software, which offers improved UI and new.
The Network Monitor window consists of the following components:
Connections — A hierarchical list of connections seen so far. The first level lists only processes. For each of them, you can drill down to the domains it connects to by clicking the disclosure triangle. The third level lists the names of the servers which were contacted. Connection statistics are stored “forever”, up to a configurable limit of total connections. Learn more about the Connection List…
Search — You can perform a textual search in the Connection List or apply other filters via a filter menu. Learn more about search and filters…
Toolbar — Contains buttons for quickly showing and hiding Map and Inspector and identifies Snapshots.
Traffic — The Traffic Diagram shows the amount of data up- and downloaded per second, as a diagram over time. For each connection it contains a complete history over the last 60 minutes. Learn more about the Traffic Diagram…
Map — Shows geographic locations for the servers in the list. Locations are derived from Internet addresses via a database obtained from MaxMind, Inc that ships with Little Snitch.Learn more about the Map…
Inspector — Shows all the details we know about the selected connections: Internet addresses, other server names, code signature information, geographic location names and other statistics information. It also includes a Research Assistant, which can often explain the purpose of a process and its connections. Learn more about Connection Inspector…
Little Snitch is a great tool if you need to monitor the outgoing network connections on your Mac, for example, if you want to see which applications are ‘phoning home’ to a remote server. However, if you’ve tried it out and decided it’s not for you, or if you’re getting lots of alerts and just don’t want to use it anymore, it’s probably time to uninstall it. In this article, we’ll show you how to remove Little Snitch.
What is Little Snitch?
Little Snitch is a tool for monitoring outgoing network connections on your Mac. Those connections could be an email app connecting to a mail server or could be more sinister, like a potentially unwanted program (PUP) connecting to a remote server to send personal data to hackers. Avenir manual.
Network Monitor Little Snitch App
Whenever Little Snitch detects an outgoing connection, it alerts you and asks you if you want to allow that connection. You can create rules so certain connections are always allowed or that others are permanently blocked. You can also choose not to be interrupted by alerts and have Little Snitch store them so you can deal with them all at the same time when you’re not busy.
Little Snitch can also show you details of each connection, though this relies on how much information is provided by the developer, so you’re unlikely to get much data on malware.
When you first install it, you’ll have to make a couple of trips to System Preferences to give it the access it needs. There’s a handy walkthrough wizard that makes configuring Little Snitch very easy, but if you want to dig deep and customize it, there are plenty of settings to tweak.
How to uninstall Little Snitch
If you’ve decided you no longer want to use Little Snitch, you should uninstall it to save space on your Mac. There are three ways to do that: use the app uninstaller; a completely manual method; and a more straightforward automatic method that we’ll discuss later in the article.
Like all applications, Little Snitch’s install comprises the application binary in your Applications folder and many other files scattered around your Mac. You will need to remove them all to uninstall the app completely.
If you still have the disk image you downloaded when you installed Little Snitch, you can use it to uninstall.
Little Snitch Network Monitor Alternative
Double-click the disk image DMG file.
Open the mounted DMG.
Double-click the Little Snitch uninstaller and follow the instructions.
If you don’t have the uninstaller, you can re-download it from the Little Snitch website. However, you may want to use this manual method to make sure you delete all the files it placed on your Mac. In particular, because Little Snitch has a menu bar item that needs to start up when your Mac boots, it has a launch agent that you’ll need to remove, as well as the usual log files and support files.
Make sure Little Snitch is not running. If it is, quit it.
Go to your Applications folder and drag Little Snitch to the Trash.
Next, you need to track down all the files it has placed on your Mac. In the Finder, choose Go to Folder.
In the box, paste each of the locations below in turn. These are the folders where Little Snitch puts files. In each of those folders, look for anything with the name ‘Little Snitch’ and drag it to the Trash.
~/Library/Application Support/
~/Library/Caches/
~/Library/LaunchAgents/
~/Library/LaunchDaemons/
~/Library/Logs
~/Library/DiagnosticReports/
Empty the Trash.
Restart your Mac.
You should now have removed every trace of Little Snitch from your Mac. https://hunterclever605.tumblr.com/post/665418203824111616/delete-a-page-on-microsoft-word-mac. As you can see, however, removing Little Snitch from your Mac manually is a lengthy and painstaking process. Thankfully, there is an easier way.
How to uninstall Little Snitch the easy way
CleanMyMac X’s Uninstaller allows you to remove apps and drivers completely. It gets rid of all the files, including the Launch Daemons and caches, and you don’t have to track them down yourself. It’s very easy to use and has a friendly interface. The whole process only takes a couple of clicks.
Download and install CleanMyMac X — it has a free version. Then launch it.
Choose Uninstaller in the sidebar.
Scroll through the list of apps or search for ‘Little Snitch’ and check the box next to it.
Press Uninstall.
That’s it. Little Snitch is now completely uninstalled. You can use the same process to uninstall other apps on your Mac and remove several apps simultaneously by selecting them and then pressing Uninstall once.
The Uninstaller module’s middle section allows you to filter apps by developers, e.g., Apple, Microsoft, Google. And you can also filter apps by where you downloaded them, for example, the Mac App Store or Setapp.
Little Snitch Network Monitor
Little Snitch is a tool for monitoring outgoing network connections so you can keep an eye on which apps and services are connecting to remote servers. You can configure it so that you have to approve every connection, or you can pre-approve specific connections. You can also pre-block connections. Silent mode allows you to prevent Little Snitch from interrupting you while you work. However, if you no longer need Little Snitch at all, you should uninstall it. There are three ways to do that, depending on whether you still have the original disk image and whether you are comfortable tracking down files yourself. If not, CleanMyMac X can help and uninstall it for you with a couple of clicks.
