#this was really just an excuse to ramble ab my ocs

with the way asc is going, canon riverclan is turning into a carbon copy of riverclan in starclan's champions and i'm kinda sad ab it 😭

(if you didn't know, starclan's champions ((name soon to change)) is a warriors trilogy i'm writing that takes place a couple generations after dotc. it focuses on six felines ((one is a lynx so i can't say cats)) who are used like tools, game pieces if you will, by starclan over the course of their lives.)

like one of the major plot points in starclan's champions is sandripple's conquest of riverclan. sandripple is a rather plain and unassuming warrior who is frustrated with his clan's leadership. the clan is, at present, led by fogstar -- a 20 something year old (yes, in human years) hag who does nothing for his clan except abuse his sons to the point of them fleeing and rot away in his den thereafter. he lets his deputy, the gorgeous and charismatic spruceflower, and healer, the plagued-by-visions lilyeyes, handle the rest. as absent as he may be, the ever looming presence of fogstar is enough to keep riverclan in a state of fear. needless to say, sandripple is FED UP!

long story short he drowns fogstar, letting the river carry his body away to hide his tracks, and settles down to enjoy a better life under sprucestar's leadership. however, his qualm is that she makes tideflow, sandripple's estranged sister, deputy. now, sandripple has no real desire for leadership (yet). but the sister he despises rising to power is something he cannot stand.

when sprucestar loses all of her lives in a tragic accident, sandripple is shocked. he feels like he failed somehow. his murder of fogstar was for nothing. he's sure as hell not gonna let tideflow lead this clan, so for perhaps the first time he says to himself "fuck it then, i'll do it myself".

sandripple kills his sister before the entire clan, and with this grisly deed, rises to power. the cats are too tired to fight back. fogstar's long reign has made them weary.

he then continues his killing spree, murdering his former mentor (who was cruel to him), his father (who abandoned him) and lilyeyes (the only cat who might yet stop him). it's clearly a fear tactic, fear and control, but sandripple genuinely starts to enjoy it, too. he's always had a dark streak.

anyway, one of my protagonists comes to the rescue and finally kills him after a day-long, gruelling, bloody battle. the youngest of fogstar's sons returns from self-exile to assume leadership of his former clan and riverclan eventually heals. but i just find it so funny how the plot of asc is moving exactly like my own story 😭 like WHAT. especially with the release of thunder i'm recognizing the parallels. forget the hawkfrost comparisons, splashtail is actually sandripple 2.0

Give me whatever obscure headcanons you have about him, they’re all top tier👁

thank you, I could genuinely write multiple essays about this man and the multitude of (admittedly very self-indulgent) HC’s I have about him. There’s also like a lot of just ... silly character analysis because dammit this is my excuse to just ramble for a while

So the biggest one and the one that informs the most about how I write him is that I think he detaches very easily from other people. It’s defensive and it isn’t healthy - he’s very good at ‘deciding’ not to care when somebody lets him down, that it never meant anything in the first place. A lot of people misread it as callousness but it really isnt. It’s just a way - an admittedly clumsy and at times lonely one - of minimizing hurt. And he’s really good at believing his own hype on this point, convincing himself it really doesn’t matter and that the ashes of all these bridges burnt and abandoned doesn’t sting 

Because other half of that headcanon is that he absolutely cares, however good he is at turning it off. He cares so deeply and so much and about everyone he meets it’s kind of suffocating sometimes? He jokes a lot about Jack and his naïve ‘I need to save the world’-reasoning for joining SEP but like ... that’s his exact reason too (he just does it in a world wearily sarcastic way so guess that makes him Not Cringe in his own eyes or something like that smh)

He’s also just incredibly loyal to his friends. More so than to the greater cause in fact. He looks out for his own and I like to believe it’s an instinct he tries imprinting on the people beneath him. We know Jack sent McCree to look for Ana after she ‘died’ but I refuse to believe that wasn’t authorized by and pushed through by Gabe. He insists so furiously on ‘no one left behind’ at all times and though their relation is at times strained, McCree absolutely takes after him on that one. Those two would have begged Jack to let McCree go searching, they would have done it anyway if he refused

In general I’m just very in favor of a softer, less openly edgy interpretation of Gabe. He’s proud and capable and he has this air of someone you don’t fuck with but he isn’t some inhumane monster not at all. He may have become the approximation of one but by god I hope the story is building - perhaps not to a redemption - but perhaps to a resolution or an exploration of what makes this man tick. Yes I imprinted unhealthily on the ‘somebody’s edgy middleschool OC’-man but he’s got potential and depth I swear it.

He has a really bad sense of humor he’s just a lot better at keeping a poker face than Rein and Jack. McCree nearly died the first time he heard Gabe crack the worst of dad jokes cause he’d only seen him be stoic and cool up to that

Also! ‘Gabe ruffles people’s hair like an embarrassing movie dad when he wants to express he’s proud of them’ is indeed the hill I’ve chosen to perish on

This man does not have abs! He does not! He’s build broader than Jack and he has naturally beefy arms but there’s a healthy layer of fat on this man. He has soft arm and most of his fat sits in the belly and chest region

Very into old school romantic grandeur. He fucking loves the drama of giving his partners flowers and staging elaborate dates. It’s not often he gets to do it but he loves it

Reads a lot! And remembers everything - can and will do the pretentious nerd thing of putting high literature references in everything if nobody calls him out on it

He hogs sheets specifically because he likes feeling caged in when he sleeps - back completely against the wall, hugging a pillow, sheet wrapped tight over is the preferred sleeping position. After becoming Reaper he gets into the habit of turning partially into smoke to fit into even smaller places to nap

I'm unsure of what this is but I got tagged by @hopeless-zombie and have decided to try this out since it's pretty harmless. I'll give in some depth on these questions the best way I can without rambling so much. Favorite colors: Red, Black, Gold, Army Green, White This is mainly due with how easy the colors are to work in within my art, along with some personal attachment towards these colors. Some connecting with my past while other is just due to the style it has on me. I think I started to have an interest in the dressing style after watching this video when I was younger but have not dressed like that. I believe it was another part that wanted me to work within the animation. Good Morning- Kanye West https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CHs4x2uqcQ Kanye West has made some pretty good music videos like Gold Digger and Diamonds from Sierra Leone, but for me, I like the colors here and how the song semi matches up with the song. The characters that are there and the style in the video make it pop out. Feels like Summer- Childish Gambino https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1B9Fk_SgI0 I like the atmosphere that the song has here, and the character design in this video is pretty strong. The song is also pretty catchy and fits in theme with the video that is presented. Blue October- Hate Me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDxgSvJINlU I remembered when I first watched this video on how much expression I felt with the video. A lot of times, it's hard for songs to match the video, and it nailed his sadness in here. Though the weird part about this video is that the song sounds better in the music video than on the cd version (minus the part cutting out cussing words since that has always bothered me in any video) Burn-Usher https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5XNWFw5HVw For me, this video is funny to watch due to how overdramatic it is. Along with the fire that burns on Usher's bed has been entertaining to watch ever since I was young. Kix- The Real Tuesday Weld https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2NPfU5QARc The song holds up the video on the main character and how he deals with life. Now even though it is not the best-animated video out there, it does fit in theme with the song, and I like the art style that was used for the video too. Fear and Delight- The Correspondents https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABS-mlep5rY The video editing style fits my taste on how I like music videos to show, and even though I found this one more recently, it fits well within the song's lyrics. Bloom- Surfaces https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuLTl6UPdi4 I only found this a couple of days ago, but the art style fits so well with the song. The characters are appealing, the colors are used nicely here, and the animation is smooth. Along with the excellent storytelling, it was able to display the lyrics at hand. Last film watched: Hm, I'm not a movie person, so I don't 100% remember what I watched. Based on some help, though, the last movie I saw was Puppy Star Christmas from Air Bud series, and dang I hate those types of videos. Last TV show watched: America's Next Top Model The show is a lot more depressing than I remembered and I'm surprised that the show more than one season. The contestants are alright overall, but the judges are the ones that I have more of a problem with. Favorite OC: Sweet, Spicy, or Savoury: Savoury Anything that has meat on it, I will like 100% more than anything sweet or spicy. For me, it just adds more flavor to it and feels like a more massive meal; which I love to have. Pets: Used to own a hamster named Spikey in middle school but otherwise never had a pet since then. AAHH hi there!!! Dunno when this was sent in but I see you and appreciate you so much!!! 💕💕💕

I literally have so many ocs that it would depend on what your most interested in hearing in order for me to really get into anything but Atlas (my profile picture) is currently kind of my account mascot and my main man! He's literally, a king on the moon! He rules a hidden kingdom on the moon in a magic based universe that I have yet to really work names out for. His kingdom is just a piece in this larger story about different rulers from various planets having to join forces in order to spread peace across a magical war torn galaxy :)

The whole thing is still a big work in progress since I've been lacking the proper motivation to expand it but he's actually a side/supporting character to my other character Apollo! I just happened to make a neat name based on the pun of 'moon king' and stuck with him as my general account aesthetic cause I love space and stars :)

I have so many other characters though, including but not limited to: aliens, monsters/monster hybrids, witches, demons, normal humans, anthros, etc. so feel free to absolutely send in another ask or message me if there's something you wanna talk about in particular!! (Rn I've been in a big demon mood, ngl) Thank you for giving me an excuse to ramble about my boy 💕🌒
