“so… what is it, exactly?”

eli’s voice was soft, curious, his brows furrowed as he examined the colorful, curved lines decorating his arm. you laughed lightly, “it’s going to be a mandala.”

“looks kind of trippy to me.” eli jested, tracing one of the lines with a long finger. you playfully pushed his hand away and huffed.

“they’re supposed to be trippy.” you quipped, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. “now hush. i need absolute silence.”

eli fell quiet while you zeroed in on your task, hand expertly adding the finishing touches to the colorful piece. it wasn’t anything you’d see in an art museum, but you thought it looked pretty good for something drawn on a canvas of skin with shitty school-issued markers.

you smiled widely and capped the purple marker in your hand with an exclamation of “all done!” — eli pulled his arm away and analyzed it as if it were some ancient relic; eyes gentle and reverent.

“i’m gonna get this tattooed.” eli stated after a few seconds of silent observation, and your heart skipped a beat.

“you can’t do that.” you said, voice airy with disbelief. was he being serious right now? it was just a silly doodle you had created from boredom and the temptation of your boyfriend’s bare arm.

eli met your gaze and flashed you one of those small smiles — one that was genuine, soft, adoring; a brand of lip-quirking reserved for your eyes only.

“would you rather i get your name instead?” eli pressed, and you let out a bark of laughter whilst shaking your head.

“why would you even want to do something like that?” you quizzed, throat feeling a little thick suddenly. eli blinked once, twice, then his smile widened.

“because i love you. and i want something permanent to remind me of you when we’re apart.”

i started cobra kai very recently (yesterday, in fact) and i’m only on s3, so if the characterization isn’t very good i apologize deeply! tbh i fell in love with eli pretty much the instant he was introduced, and i just knew i had to write something about him. thank you so much for reading and i hope you enjoyed! <3
