im a big believer in fruk soulmatism. romantic or platonic, it doesn't matter, those two were made for each other. not two people, but one soul split in two. they know each others as they know their own selves. with that comes tenderness and leniency, but also self-loathing and remorse. their love is self-worship in a way, a self-acceptance. their hate, their animosity, just a form of self-punishment.

its not about consent or consideration with them. one does not question the intentions of their own self. they just do, feel. its something pure, and romantic, and terrifying - and as much of looking into a mirror as it is looking into the eyes of a loved one.

and they'll protect each other to their last breath because it is human nature to pursue self-preservation. a world without the other cannot exist. they understand one another more than anyone else in the world and yet not at all, as often our own hearts and minds elude even ourselves.

and this sense of unknowing of the self is maddening. yet to be known by others is equally repulsive, makes us feel unremarkable and empty. francis and arthur's relationship is so complex and its because theyre just one soul in two bodies desperately calling out for one another and yet simultaneously hopelessly trying to distinguish their own selves.
