The water is icy cold as Loki accepts the offered bottle and he smiles, pleased to see that one of the few requests he made when arranging this job has been so enthusiastically met. The other is the temperature of the room – and that still remains to be seen as the class facilitator leads him down unfamiliar corridors to the room in question. She rambles as she walks, expressing her appreciation for him agreeing to sit at such short notice, providing information about the group, summarising the techniques they intend to practise over the coming weeks – and Loki smiles and nods personably, as if she hadn’t already said the same thing twice over the phone. 

When they reach the room, thankfully sooner rather than later, the model can finally take a look at what he’s working with. It’s cosy but comfortable, a black velvet recliner set out in the centre, surrounded by a collection of chairs, small tables, easels. A group of five or so people – presumably the artists – are gathered against the far wall making conversation, and there is a heater below the window, merrily churning out warmth.

“You’re welcome to change next door.” The facilitator gestures towards a connecting door to the other room, and offers Loki a white robe and basket to leave his belongings in. It’s supposed to be standard practice, but the model has been denied it often enough to be grateful.

“Thank you, but I have no issue with changing here once everyone is ready.” He takes the basket and robe, setting them both on the small table beside the door and beginning to toe off his boots. “The point is to reveal everything, after all – postponing that hardly makes a difference.”

The facilitator’s brown eyes drop to the deep green wraparound dress Loki chose for today, then further to his black boots, swiftly understanding that the outfit was selected for ease of removal, and offers him a smile and a nod. “Alright, I’ll just be a moment then.” With that she turns to cross the room and speak to the gathered artists.
