#it's so strange to me that tv tropes doesn't have born sexy yesterday#anyway who wants to talk about this role reversal#cas#castiel#destiel#deancas#spn#supernatural#derryth.txt#this is so long i'm going to split it in half :(#bsycas#this trope is extremely infantilizing and cas has nowhere near that level of naivety or innocence#but there is a huge gap in his human knowledge where anything related to sex and dating is involved#which is where dean as his human teacher comes in#obviously this trope is extremely misogynistic and has deeply racist origins#but it is really interesting to see how these sort of role reversal and dynamic changes in spn reflect OR argue against the original trope#because sometimes destiel does hit this beat for beat#there is no male gaze (pro) but it is also not a story centered on women (con)#instead of a man teaching a woman about heterosexuality it is a man teaching a man about heterosexuality#very compelling!#and also cas and dean are equals where a lot of times in this trope there is a massive power imbalance. they are special because they#teach each other
