I paced the cold floor of the stone-room. The little squares of colorful rock as familiar to me as the faces of the immortals. There was a strange scent in the air that I didn’t like. The immortal hobbled in, catching my attention. I ceased my pacing, turning and raising my head to greet her.
I sniffed in. The scent was coming from her in waves. Her small patch of fur was thinner than I remembered. This immortal in particular had taken me and my mother with her after departing from what I assumed to be the immortals parents. I still remember the long journey from inside the roaring red beast.
My mother had passed as well a long time ago. It was me and the immortal now, as well as the yammering bird she kept in her room.
I pushed my nose into the back of her leg, then sat and looked up at her, my tail wagging slightly. She made those little cooing noises she always did and tossed me a little piece of food. For once, I ignored it. Favoring instead to push my nose into her leg again. She looked down at me with concern.
She bent, her face coming close to mine as she took her large paws and gently gripped my head. There was a question in her yipping. Unfortunately one I couldn’t fully understand.
“Tally? Wizz le rothin tong?” Is what it sounded like. I knew very few other dogs who could understand their immortals. I knew only that to her my name was Tally.
For weeks I followed her dutifully. Some days she would leave me alone for a very long time before she returned. Not at her usual schedule dictated. The scent would be especially strong when she came back.
One day she returned. Dropped some white square leaves. Then plummeted into the soft rock. I leapt up beside her. The stench today was more subdued. My immortal sobbed suddenly, and pulled me into her chest. The grave feeling of wrongness was not lost on me.
She laid like that for hours… until eventually falling into sleep. Restless sleep. She was supposed to endure. Mother always told me that the immortals were impervious to age… much unlike us dogs. We were meant to guard them from any exterior harm that could in fact hurt them.
But this… this wasn’t age. This wasn’t anything I could protect her from. I didn’t understand what it was exactly. The smell of it told me that it was tearing her apart however. It was the smell of death on her breath. The increased lack of fur on her head. At times she’d spend forever looking into the time-frozen water in her den, fussing over her fur.
Whatever was killing her, I could not stop. My role of guardian was rendered useless. I cannot save her. My purpose now is to protect her from sorrow. A task I know in the end, I shall likely fail. I will endeavor to try nonetheless.
For a few months, the immortal did not leave the house for those visits as usual. At times, other immortals would enter the den under my watchful eye. Many would assist with the usual chores that she could no longer complete. Some of them would even gently pat me on the head.
There was a somber feeling in the darkness of the den. One of the immortals more familiar to me by this point came one day and never left. He was gentle and kind to my immortal, and very nice to me as well. I liked him quite a lot. My immortal called him Wilson, and her called her Sarah. I believe that’s her name… I cannot remember if I’d ever heard it uttered before.
Wilson stayed in the den with me and Sarah. He was part of the pack now. He brought her fake fur to wear on her head. He would feed me at dinner time. He would clean the shiny rocks the immortals ate off of. He seemed to care a great deal.
Sarah never left her soft bed anymore. I would often curl up next to her at night. One morning the sun rose, I went to nose her face as I normally did. She did not rouse. I sniffed her skin, licking the cold surface.
Death had fallen sweetly upon her in the night. I could not ward it off. I had only the hope that she was sleeping when the last whisper of breath left her lungs.
Wilson burst into the room upon my howl of anguish. He was just as sorrowful as I was. He stayed with her a long while, at some point he used the little rectangle I’d seen every immortal use at some point.
For only a little while we stayed in somber silence with Sarah, until more immortals came and took her. I tried to fight them away and recover her, but Wilson held me back and pushed me into my tiny cave and shut the barred door of it.
I never fought so hard to escape from it as I did then. I wanted to reach Sarah. I stayed there for a long time before Wilson tearfully retrieved me.
I trusted him. He had been Sarah’s guardian when I could not suffice. I swore that in return, I’d try to protect him as I had failed to protect Sarah.
You are tenth generation honor guard for the Immortals. As far back as pack memory goes, the Immortals have provided food, shelter, and scritches. You fully expected them to outlive you as they did your grandmother and her grandmother before her. But something's wrong. The alpha… is dying.

CROSSING THE LINE — PART FIVE ♡
paige x azzi
word count: 7.3k
A/N: This one lowkey took me longer than usual because I tried to make sure I represented both of their situations accurately. You'll get some resolution in this but it's definitely not going to just be rainbows and sunshine forever. Please keep up the comments and reactions!! I love reading what you guys have to say.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The air in Aaliyah’s suite was tense, a quiet hum of anticipation hanging over the room as the team started trickling in. A few of them had already claimed spots on the couch or floor and the TV was muted, some random game playing in the background, but nobody paid it any attention.
Ice and KK walked in together, loud as always, and Caroline entered not long after, her phone still in hand, followed by Amari who looked between them all with curious eyes.
The moment the door clicked shut behind the last person Nika didn’t waste time. She pushed herself off the counter she was leaning against and addressed everyone.
“They slept together.”
A stunned silence followed.
“Who?” KK broke the silence first, confused without any context. Ice who was sitting next to her just smacked her on the head as it was obvious with who was missing from the room.
Nika, confirming anyway, just said “Paige and Azzi.” Her voice was steady, but her expression reflected how serious the situation was with the two of them not talking. “Paige told me like an hour ago.”
A chorus of reactions broke out, some shocked and others not surprised at all.
“I knew it,” Q muttered under her breath, earning an incredulous side glance from Ice.
“So why did this cause World War Two?” KK asked, raising an eyebrow. “Shouldn’t that be good news? Thought you were supposed to be a bundle of joy after doing the do.”
A chuckle escaped Nika as she continued, “Paige said Azzi was gone when she woke up. Like, left without a word, turned her phone off. And now they haven’t really talked since and it’s messier than it needs to be honestly.”
“Wait—what?” Ice sat up straighter. “Why the hell would Azzi do that?”
“Chill out,” Caroline interjected, her tone calm but firm. “We don’t know the full story. Don’t start judging before you do.”
The room went quiet again, but Nika’s gaze zeroed in on Caroline. Something about her reaction struck a chord.
“You know something, don’t you?” Nika’s question wasn’t accusatory, but it was sharp enough to get everyone else’s attention. “If you do, you need to tell us. We can’t help them if we don’t know what’s going on.”
Caroline hesitated, her fingers tightening around her phone. She glanced around the room, her lips pressing into a thin line as she debated whether to speak.
Aubrey, sitting cross-legged on the floor near the couch, leaned forward. “Come on, Car. We need to know. We barely scraped by last game and Geno was pissed, it’s only going to get harder from here. If we don’t fix whatever is going on between them, it’s going to fuck up the season.”
Caroline let out a heavy breath, her internal conflict evident. Azzi was one of her closest friends, and she knew how private Azzi was, especially about something as personal as this. But the situation was already affecting the team on and off the court and it had been almost a month.
“Alright,” Caroline said slowly, her voice low. “Yes, Azzi left and asked me to take her to the airport, and trust me, I told her how stupid it was after she told me what happened. But she said she needed to, and I didn’t push her because she looked like she was about to fall apart.” She paused, shifting uncomfortably as all eyes were on her. “I don’t really know what happened while she was gone, just that when I picked her up from the airport when she got back she was... excited. I mean, I hadn’t seen her like that in a while. I honestly don’t really know what happened after that, but something must’ve gone wrong because she was in my room crying the next day. She wouldn’t tell me anything though.”
The room was silent for a beat as everyone absorbed Caroline’s words. Then Ice leaned forward, her face reflecting she was piecing things together. “Wait, when Azzi got back that Monday?”
“Yeah,” Caroline nodded. “Why?”
Ice leaned forward her expressions showing she was slowly starting to piece things together. “Because I was in the suite when Azzi got back.”
All eyes turned to Ice as she continued. “Azzi came back to our suite. I was on the couch playing the game when she walked in. She seemed... kinda nervous but a little giddy. Like she wanted to go see Paige but wasn’t sure if she should. She was about to just walk in her room but I told her to knock knowing Paige was in there with some girl. I didn’t know they slept together when this happened though.”
“Azzi saw her?” Nika asked, breaking the silence.
Ice nodded grimly. “Yeah. Azzi looked like she was about to throw up. And when Azzi didn’t say anything Paige just…slammed the door in her face.”
“Okay,” Nika began cautiously, “so Azzi left after they—” she hesitated, glancing around, “—you know. And when she came back, she saw Paige with someone else in her room?”
“Paige definitely made herself freak out because Azzi left,” Aubrey chimed in, her voice picking up speed as she worked through it, “but Azzi is upset because Paige started sleeping around again?”
“That’s what it sounds like,” Caroline said slowly. “Azzi probably thought Paige didn’t care. I mean, she comes back all excited, and then... that’s what she walks into? Of course she’d feel like she was just another hookup.”
With Caroline’s words, the puzzle finally clicked into place for the team. The fragmented bits of the story now became slightly whole.
Ice was the first to speak, her arms crossing as she leaned back on the couch. “We just need to make them talk.”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea,” Aaliyah said, her tone cautious. “They both still seem really emotional. Forcing a conversation might just make things worse.”
“They aren’t even upset anymore,” Ice shot back quickly, shaking her head. “They both just walk around the suite like sad puppies at this point. They’re miserable, and we’re all stuck watching it. They literally just need to speak to each other, and I’m sure all of this can be solved.”
Finally, Ice shrugged, leaning back against the arm of the couch. “You know what? I’ll handle it. I live with them. When they’re both back in the suite later, I’ll make sure they talk.”
“You think that’ll work?” Aubrey asked skeptically.
“It’s better than just sitting here and doing nothing,” Ice said. “I’ll lock them in the same room if I have to.”
There was a mix of amused chuckles and wary glances around the room, but no one disagreed. If anyone could nudge Paige and Azzi toward finally talking, it was their third roommate.
…
Later that day, Azzi was in her room, the faint sound of music playing softly behind the closed door as she was reading a book. Ice was laying on the couch in the common area, idly scrolling on her phone, when she heard the door to the suite open.
Paige walked in, her steps slow, her eyes still slightly puffy from the tears she’d cried earlier. She didn’t look up as she moved toward her room, clearly hoping to slip in without being addressed.
Ice sat up fast, her voice bursting with fake excitement. “P Boogers I miss you!”
Paige paused, startled, but a small fond smile tugged at her lips as she slightly rolled her eyes. She turned to Ice, trying to match her energy, though it didn’t fully reach her eyes. “Hi, Isuneh. I miss you too.”
She made to continue toward her room, but Ice wasn’t having it. “Hey, hey, come here,” Ice called out, patting the couch beside her.
Paige frowned, confused. “What? Why?”
“Just do it,” Ice insisted with a grin that didn’t leave room for argument.
Still puzzled, Paige hesitated before sighing and walking over. She plopped down onto the couch, sitting at the edge as she glanced sideways at Ice.
“Good,” Ice said, clapping her hands together before standing up. “Stay right there. I’ll be right back.”
Before Paige could question her further, Ice headed to Azzi’s door. She knocked twice, then opened it without waiting for an answer.
“Yes?” Azzi’s voice was a bit flat, but Ice ignored the tone, walking in and grabbing her by the arm.
“Come on,” Ice said, tugging her toward the door.
Azzi frowned, resisting. “What are you doing?”
“Family meeting,” Ice said, her grip firm.
“Family meeting?” Azzi repeated, confused.
“Yes, and you’re coming,” Ice replied, dragging her out of the room despite her protests.
A moment later, Ice reappeared in the common area, Azzi in tow. She plopped Azzi down on the couch right next to Paige, who looked at her wide-eyed.
“Ice what are you doing?” Paige asked, her voice uneasy as her gaze darted between Ice and Azzi.
Ice grinned, crossing her arms and standing in front of them. “You two are gonna talk.”
Both Paige and Azzi started to protest at the same time, but Ice cut them off with a sharp look. “Nope. No excuses. You’re fixing this. Right here. Right now.”
Paige sighed heavily, crossing her arms. “Ice, we’re not just going to magically fix this because you say so.”
Azzi looked equally unimpressed, her arms folding across her chest. “For once in a while I agree with her.”
Ice rolled her eyes at their ridiculousness already, planting her hands on her hips. “Y'all are so damn stubborn. I’m not asking for magic, just a conversation. You’re still capable of that right? ”
Neither of them responded, the silence thick with unease.
“Fine,” Ice pressed, her tone firm. “Don’t talk, but you’re not leaving this couch until you do.”
Paige shifted uncomfortably, glancing quickly at Azzi, who stubbornly avoided her gaze. After a long pause, Azzi finally sighed and muttered, “Fine. I’ll talk. But I can’t do this with you here, Ice.”
Ice arched a skeptical brow. “Oh, sure. Because the second I leave, you’ll both magically become chatty besties?”
Azzi glared at her. “I’m serious. I’m not doing this with an audience.”
Paige chimed in softly, her tone more sincere. “Ice, it’s okay. We’ll talk. I promise.”
Ice’s gaze darted between them, her arms still crossed. “You better. Because if I come back and one of you is sulking in your room, I’m locking you both in the pantry.”
Azzi gave her an exasperated look, but Paige offered a small, reassuring smile. “We’ll talk,” she said again.
After a long moment of hesitation, Ice finally relented. “Fine,” she said, stepping back. “But don’t make me regret trusting you two, I’ll get hell if I don’t come back with results.”
She paused before leaving, “And don’t yell at each other. You both hate it and it leads to nothing.”
Azzi muttered under her breath, “No promises,” earning a slight scoff from Paige, who crossed her arms but said nothing.
With that, Ice retreated to her room, closing the door behind her.
Once Ice left the silence hung between Paige and Azzi for a while, the suite so quiet they could hear the music coming from Azzi’s room. Paige was picking at her nails absentmindedly, her gaze unfocused as she tried to keep herself from spiraling being so close to Azzi. Beside her, Azzi sat quietly, her fingers subconsciously playing with her necklace, the motion almost automatic at this point.
After what felt like an eternity, Azzi finally broke the silence, her voice soft but cutting slightly. “You don’t have to sit here and pretend you want to talk to me P. It’s fine.”
Paige immediately looked up as if she was waiting for Azzi to speak first. Confused, she says, “Huh, what are you talking about?”
Azzi sighed, clearly already frustrated. She stared at the floor, avoiding Paige’s gaze. "Nothing, Paige. Nevermind.”
But the silence didn’t last long. Azzi’s tone changed, turning a little sharper, more pointed as she finally voiced the question that had been on her mind since she came back to Storrs. "Did you even get to clean the sheets before you had somebody else in your bed?"
Paige blinked, her eyes narrowing slightly, before her initial shock turned into something else—a mix of frustration and defensiveness. She didn’t want to engage in the hurtful back-and-forth, but the words spilled out before she could stop them. “I don’t know Azzi... maybe you would know if you cared to stick around to find out.”
The room fell quiet again, the jabs leaving an uncomfortable space between them that they clearly didn’t want. Neither of them moved, neither of them said anything at first, as though they were both waiting for the other to break the silence. Finally, Azzi’s voice broke through again, softer but no less pointed.
“Did it not mean anything to you Paige?” Azzi’s words were steady, almost too steady, but there was an underlying vulnerability to them.
Paige’s chest tightened, and she leaned back on the couch, rubbing her face with her hands, trying to gather her thoughts. She wasn’t ready for this conversation—not yet, so she played the confused card. “Did what not mean anything?” Her voice was weary, a little guarded, as she avoided looking directly at Azzi.
Azzi didn’t hesitate, her tone unwavering. “You immediately started sleeping around again. It was like you finally got me to sleep with you, and then I wasn’t a second thought anymore. Just like everybody else.”
Paige’s jaw clenched, and she looked at Azzi, disbelief flickering in her eyes. “That’s ridiculous,” she said, her voice low but firm.
The silence stretched between them again before Paige let out a long, shaky sigh. She leaned forward, folding her arms across her chest, her gaze softening as she met Azzi’s eyes. “You left me,” she said quietly.
Her chest tightened as she continued, the pain in her voice unmistakable. "The morning after Halloween, you were gone. No note, no message, nothing. You just disappeared like what happened didn’t matter at all to you!" Her voice was a little too loud.
Azzi flinched, her eyes flickering with frustration as she said “Paige, stop yelling. We haven’t even started yet and you’re already yelling.”
Paige paused her tears threatening to spill again. She exhaled sharply, biting her lip, before letting out a deep sigh. The volume of her voice softened, but the hurt was still evident. “Do you know what that fucking felt like, Az?” Her voice was lower now, still raw but controlled. “To physically lay out your heart to someone... to try to be completely fucking vulnerable, and then wake up to nothing? To have someone vanish and act like it was all nothing? Like I didn’t mean anything to them?”
Azzi opened her mouth, but no words came out at first. She swallowed hard, fighting back the lump in her throat. “That’s not what happened, Paige,” she said, her voice quieter now, trying to calm the tension between them.
Paige shook her head, disbelief flashing in her eyes. “That’s exactly what happened,” she countered. “You left. No explanation. Nothing. And then you came back and acted like nothing changed. Knocking on my door with this look on your face like you didn’t even care how you made me feel while you were gone.”
Azzi’s expression twisted, her own frustration building. “No, Paige! You treated me like I was just some random UConn slut you could forget about—” Her voice was sharp, echoing in the room, until Paige gave her a look that made her pause. Azzi’s face softened, and she exhaled shakily. “I’m sorry,” she muttered, glancing away. “I didn’t mean to yell.” She looked back at Paige, her eyes dark with emotion as she continued, her voice quieter. “You just... you made me feel like I didn’t matter.”
Paige’s confusion deepened, her brow furrowing. “Azzi, what are you talking about? I basically worshiped you that night” she said, her voice softer now but still filled with hurt.
She tried to explain, her voice almost shaking with emotion. “After we... After we slept together, and things got a little unclear, you just went right back to doing the same thing you always do. You slept with any girl who came your way, and I was just left there to watch, to hear it. It felt like I was nothing to you. Like I was some one-night stand you got bored with.”
“You ignored me for days, Azzi,” Paige’s voice cracked slightly, the pain evident in each word. “What was I supposed to think? Your phone was off. You didn’t send a single message telling me where you were or what was going on. You just left me hanging, and now you’re acting like it’s all on me?” Her breath came in shallow gasps as she spoke, the frustration of everything unresolved coming to a head.
Azzi opened her mouth to respond, but Paige wasn’t done. The words were spilling out now, a flood of everything she had been holding in. “I didn’t know what to think. I couldn’t think, honestly. I woke up the next morning, and you were just gone. And for three days, you didn’t give me a single word. Not one thing to hold onto, or look forward to. What was I supposed to think?”
The words cut through the silence between them, each one a strike against the walls they’d been building around themselves. Azzi’s gaze flickered away for a moment, her chest rising and falling in slow, shaky breaths. She looked down, her voice small but steady as she spoke, barely above a whisper.
“I just needed time,” she said, her words full of vulnerability. “I needed time to think, to figure everything out. I didn’t know how to process what happened. I didn’t want to do anything rash.”
“How the hell was I supposed to guess that, Az?” Paige’s voice rose, her emotions spilling over. “You just vanished and didn’t think to tell me anything—not one hint of where your head was at. Was I supposed to just sit there waiting for you to come back with some grand explanation? How was I supposed to trust that you’d even come back with something?”
“Stop yelling,” Azzi said simply, her tone firm but not angry.
Paige sighed, running a hand through her hair as she leaned back on the couch, forcing herself to lower her voice. “I’m sorry…How was I supposed to know, Az? You left me to figure it out all on my own.”
Azzi’s eyes softened with regret as she let out a shaky breath. “I thought... I thought you’d trust me, P. I thought you’d understand that I needed space. I didn’t want to hurt you by saying the wrong thing, or worse, doing something I couldn’t take back.”
Paige’s tone softened, but the hurt was still evident in her words. “It’s hard to trust someone who walked out on you. How can I trust you when you just disappeared? You don’t do that to someone after they open up to you. You don’t vanish for days and leave them wondering if they ever meant anything to you.”
Azzi’s expression twisted, frustration mingling with sadness. “I was ready to talk when I got back home. I had it all figured out,” she said, her voice thick with emotion. “But when I came back, you had some random girl in our suite, probably ready to fuck her. You didn’t even try to talk to me. So no, I didn’t say anything. I couldn’t even look at you after I saw that.”
The silence that followed was deafening, both of them sitting with the weight of the words they’d thrown at each other.
Paige finally spoke, her voice barely above a whisper. “I didn’t know what else to do, Azzi. I didn’t know if you were coming back, if you even cared enough to try.”
Paige’s breath hitched as she continued, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she looked at Azzi. “I know I shouldn’t have done that, and I’m sorry,” she said, her voice cracking. “It just felt like you didn’t care and that was the only thing I could come up with.”
Azzi finally glanced at Paige, the regret and longing in her eyes almost overwhelming. She hesitated before scooting closer, slowly reaching out to take Paige’s hand in hers, their fingers lacing together. The touch was hesitant but full of unspoken meaning.
“I cared,” Azzi whispered, her voice barely audible, a rawness to it that Paige had never heard before. “I cared so much that it scared me. Scared me not knowing where you stood, not knowing if I even meant anything to you. And for everything I did... I’m so sorry. For leaving you when you needed me. For making you cry, for making those beautiful blue eyes of yours look so sad. I hate that I did that to you.”
She paused, her voice trembling slightly as the words continued to spill out. “I’m sorry for all the snide remarks, the times I pushed you away when you were reaching out, for making you feel like you didn’t matter, when you meant everything to me. I’m sorry for every moment I made you feel small, when you’re anything but that. I promise you I never wanted to hurt you, Paige. I just... I was scared. And in all my fear, I made it so you were the problem, when it was never you.”
Azzi took a deep breath before speaking again, her voice laced with regret as she finally began telling Paige what happened. “I got up before you. I was planning on getting breakfast for us because I knew you were going to have a hangover.” She paused, looking down at their interlaced fingers, before continuing. “But when I was getting the food, I ran into one of your hookups. The one we ran into that night we were going to eat and you told her I was your girlfriend. So I guess to antagonize me she said something that... that reminded me of how much you’ve slept around. It... it scared me, Paige. It made me think about what happened between us, and I didn’t know what that night meant to you, what I meant to you. I didn’t know if I was going to be just another one night stand.”
Paige tried to speak but Azzi continued, “I guess she saw my initial reaction and decided to keep going. She asked if you were still as aggressive as you used to be and started rambling about all the things you did to her. I just..I felt so inadequate, Paige. I’ve never done any of that. I didn’t even know how to respond.”
Paige froze, her stomach sinking at the words. “She did what?” she breathed, shocked.
Azzi’s voice was barely a whisper now, and she looked away. “She said it casually, as if it was no big deal. But it made me think, made me question everything. It reminded me of how much you’ve been... you know, sleeping around, and how experienced you are, and it just… kinda hit me. That I’ve never done anything like that and I’m probably a lot more inexperienced than the other girls you’ve been with.” Azzi continues kind of rambling now, “I started to wonder if it was even good for you. If I did anything wrong. You didn’t even try anything like that with me. I don’t even know if you’re into that kind of thing with me and it was just too much, so I had to take some time to think and when I came back and saw someone in the suite it just made all those feelings resurface.”
Paige’s heart clenched painfully as the weight of Azzi’s words sank in. She reached out and grabbed Azzi’s jaw gently, urging her to look at her. “Azzi, I swear to you, I never meant for you to feel like that,” she said, her voice trembling with sincerity. “I didn’t know she said that. I didn’t even know you were... Fuck I’m so so sorry Az, I didn’t ever want to make you feel that way.”
Azzi’s eyes filled with tears, but she didn’t pull away. “It hurt, Paige,” she whispered, her voice cracking. “It really hurt. And I came back I had everything ready but you were–”
Azzi stopped, biting her lip as if trying to keep herself from falling apart. Instead, she took a deep breath and stood up. “Wait here,” she said softly before disappearing into her room.
Paige blinked, confused and concerned at the abruptness, her heart racing as she sat there waiting. When Azzi returned a few moments later, she was holding a crumpled up airport paper, covered in messy scribbles and arrows.
Azzi handed it to Paige without a word, sitting back down as Paige unfolded it, her brows furrowing as she scanned the chaotic notes. “What...is this?”
“It’s a list,” Azzi said quietly. “I made it after… you know, that night. I was trying to calm myself down and prove that it wasn’t just some hookup for you, that it meant something more.”
Paige’s eyes darted over the napkin, trying to decipher the messy scrawl. Words and phrases jumped out at her. She kissed me, with an arrow towards for the second time in the corner of the napkin. Jealous at Ted’s but that one had a lot of question marks followed by she would’ve just told me which was crossed out with the words no she wouldn’t next to it. Other words Paige could clearly make out Teammates…felt too inanimate…the way she looked at me, which was underlined a few multiple times with the words think i’m delusional next to it.
As Paige continues trying to decipher the napkin, realization dawns on her face. Her fingers slightly tighten around the paper as her chest tightens with emotion. The arrows connecting some points and scribbled-out words showed how much thought Azzi had put into it, even in her uncertainty.
“I had everything figured out,” Azzi said, her voice trembling. “I was ready to show you, to make you understand even if you weren’t ready, that it couldn’t have been just casual for you. It had to be something deeper. But then I saw her in your bed, and it all fell apart. God, Paige, I felt so stupid. Like I’d made everything up in my head.”
Paige stared at the napkin, guilt and heartbreak washing over her in waves. “Azzi…”
Azzi shook her head, looking away. “I cared so much about sleeping with you it scared me, Paige. And when I saw her, I just… I couldn’t do it anymore.”
Paige’s eyes filled with tears as she placed the napkin on the table and cupped Azzi’s face gently, urging her to look at her. “Azzi, I swear to you, I never meant for you to feel like that,” she said her, her voice quiet but steady. “I didn’t even know she said that. I didn’t even know you were…I wasn’t that way with you because you’re so much more than that to me Az. I never wanted you to feel like you were just another hookup. I knew it was your first time with a girl, and I just wanted to take everything slow. I wanted you to feel safe, to feel like it was okay to just feel everything and just…just be. I was trying to show you how much I cared that night, and I thought maybe... maybe that was the way to make you understand. But it wasn’t. I see that now.”
Azzi’s face softened as she absorbed Paige’s words. The tension between them seemed to ease just a little, but there was still a quiet sorrow in her eyes. She closed her eyes for a moment, taking a breath before speaking. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “I never meant to make you feel alone, I know how hard that is for you. I was just so caught up in my own feelings, my own fear. I was so afraid of getting hurt that I couldn’t care about how anyone else felt.”
Paige reached out, cupping Azzi’s face gently in her hands again. She felt the weight of Azzi’s pain, the vulnerability in her touch, and it broke something inside her. “I understand,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I get it. I do. But you mean the world to me, Azzi. I never wanted to make you feel less than. I just wanted you to know how much I care, how much I need you.”
Azzi’s eyes fluttered open, locking with Paige’s, and she leaned into the touch, a tear slipping down her cheek. She didn’t say anything right away, just let the silence hang between them, the weight of everything they had just shared in the air. At that moment, words didn’t seem to matter as much as the quiet connection between them.
Paige pulled Azzi into a tight, much-needed hug. She buried her face in Azzi’s hair and whispered, “I’m so sorry Azzi.” Azzi squeezed her back, the tension in her body easing with every second. “I’m sorry too,” she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. The two of them sat in their embrace for a while, both of them making up for what they felt like was lost time.
Ice’s door creaked open hesitantly. She hadn’t heard voices for some time, so she peeked out to check on the situation. Her eyes landed on Paige and Azzi wrapped in each other’s arms, their tears visible even from where she stood. A grin tugged at her lips as she then leaned against the wall.
“Okay thank god you figured it out,” Ice teased, crossing her arms. “I was starting to think I’d have to find a lock for the pantry. It was hard being a child of a divorced home.”
Azzi laughed through her tears, her face still pressed to Paige’s shoulder. “Shut up, Ice,” she said, her voice thick but light with humor.
Paige chuckled softly, finally pulling back just enough to wipe at Azzi’s damp cheeks. The warmth in her gaze made Azzi’s heartache in the best way.
Ice smirked, watching them for a moment longer before retreating back into her room, muttering something about how they better keep it down if there’s any more funny business around this house. Paige and Azzi exchanged a watery laugh, the tension between them finally broken.
…
Later that night, after showering and getting into her pajamas, Paige sat on her bed, the controller in her hands as she settled into her game for the first time in a while. She hadn’t felt in the mood to play in weeks, but tonight was obviously different.
Azzi walked into the room quietly, dressed in her pajamas and a bonnet. She stood by the door for a moment, hesitant, taking in the space that felt unfamiliar in this new version of them, something a little more than a friendship but not a relationship. She hadn’t been in Paige’s room like this—so casually, so unburdened—since October…since they slept together. It felt like the distance between them had changed everything, and for a second, she wasn’t sure how to exist in here.
But then she heard Paige mutter something incoherent at the game, followed by an exaggerated shout of frustration when she was killed. Azzi’s lips curled into a smile at the familiar sound. That was more like the Paige she knew. It made Azzi relax a little.
Azzi made her way over to the bed and sat down on the edge next to Paige, her body a little stiff at first. She wasn’t sure what to do with herself, what was ok to do and what wasn’t. But then, as she watched Paige continue to play, she cracked a joke, letting it slip out without thinking.
“Have you always been this bad, or is tonight just special?” Azzi teased, her voice light with amusement.
Paige paused the game immediately, her brow furrowing as she turned to face Azzi, an exaggerated look of disbelief on her face. “Excuse me? What did you just say?”
Azzi shrugged nonchalantly, her eyes still on her phone, scrolling absentmindedly. “Eh, just stating the obvious.”
Paige crossed her arms, trying to hold back a grin. “I’m being disrespected in my own room, this is crazy.” She said, her voice a little dramatic, but the smile tugging at her lips betrayed her.
Azzi chuckled, and for a moment, the tension from the past few weeks seemed to slip away. The easy banter between them returned, small but meaningful, like they hadn’t spent any time apart. Paige rolled her eyes, but there was a warmth in her chest, the kind that came with knowing things were moving in the right direction.
Paige tilted her head, looking at Azzi. “You wanna play?”
Azzi looked up from her phone, her brow raising as if Paige had just asked her to solve all the world’s problems. “Me? Play? Are you crazy?” She shook her head. “I’ve never played before. And I’ve heard you, KK, and Ice yelling a little too much to know better.”
Paige shrugged, unfazed. “No big deal. You’ll like it.” She said as she tried to hand Azzi the controller.
Azzi hesitated, giving the controller a wary glance before reluctantly taking it. The second she started playing, Paige immediately realized how bad things were going to be. Within seconds, Azzi’s character on the screen was walking off of the building Paige had built, spinning in circles, and doing everything but what she was supposed to be doing.
“Azzi what the hell!” Paige burst out laughing as she watched the chaos unfold. “What are you even doing?!”
“I don’t know!” Azzi cried out, frantically mashing random buttons as her character continued to flail in every direction, shooting randomly here and there. She pushed Paige’s shoulder with a playful shove. “Shut up and help me!”
Paige tried to compose herself, still grinning as she pointed at the screen. “Okay, okay, see this button? That’s to move. And that one? That’s to aim. You’re just—” She dissolved into laughter again as Azzi’s character jumped straight towards someone shooting at her and immediately died.
Azzi groaned, pouting as she turned to Paige with a frown. “This isn’t funny! You’re supposed to be helping, not laughing at me.”
“I am helping!” Paige insisted through her giggles, her cheeks aching from how hard she was laughing. She reached over, guiding Azzi’s hands on the controller. “Look, just press this one and— no not that one!”
Azzi let out an exaggerated huff, dropping the controller onto her lap. “This is impossible. You’re a terrible teacher.”
“You’re just a terrible student,” Paige shot back, her grin widening.
At this, Azzi pouted harder, her lips pushing out in exaggerated frustration. Paige couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. “Alright, alright, come here,” she said, scooting back on the bed to make room.
Azzi gave her a skeptical look but didn’t argue, sliding into the spot Paige had just been sitting in, directly in front of the TV. Paige scooted up behind her, settling comfortably as she wrapped her arms around Azzi to guide her hands on the controller.
Azzi stiffened at first, her body going rigid against Paige’s. Paige noticed immediately, a soft smile tugging at her lips. “Relax, Az,” she said, her voice gentle, her breath warm against Azzi’s ear. “I’m not gonna bite, Just teaching you how to play the game I swear.”
Azzi huffed a small laugh, the tension easing out of her shoulders as she leaned back into Paige. “You better not,” she murmured, her tone lighter.
As Azzi settled into Paige’s hold, she tilted her head slightly, her gaze lingering on Paige’s face, which was now resting on her shoulder. Paige smirked, not even looking away from the TV. “Stop staring and focus on the game, Azzi.”
“I’m not staring,” Azzi muttered, rolling her eyes, though her cheeks warmed slightly.
“Sure you’re not,” Paige teased, her tone dripping with amusement. “This is why you’re so bad at the game—you’re too distracted by me so you aren’t listening to instructions”
Azzi scoffed. “Please, I’d be amazing if you weren’t breathing down my neck every two seconds.”
Paige chuckled, her voice low and playful. “You like it, don’t lie.”
Azzi tried to keep a straight face, but the corners of her lips twitched as she turned her attention back to the screen. “Whatever. Just show me which button I’m supposed to press.”
“Alright, I got this,” Paige said, her fingers wrapping around Azzi’s to guide her movements. As they moved, Paige’s fingers brushed over Azzi’s, each shift in position almost feeling intentional, like she was trying to distract her more than help with the game. “See? You press this one to jump. No, not that one—this one,” Paige corrected, her hand pressing lightly on Azzi’s, guiding her thumb to the correct button.
Azzi shot Paige a playful glare, her lips curling into a smile despite herself. “Are you just playing for me now?”
Paige didn’t even try to hide her grin. “You’re a terrible student, Azzi. What do you expect?” Her voice was teasing, but there was a warmth beneath it, the closeness between them now undeniable. She adjusted her grip on Azzi’s hands, their fingers interlacing as she continued to control the game for both of them.
Azzi couldn’t help but laugh at how effortlessly Paige took over. “You’re not even letting me play at this point. What’s the point of me being here?”
Paige’s fingers tightened around Azzi’s making sure she didn’t go anywhere, guiding them both. “You’re here to keep me entertained,” she teased.
Azzi rolled her eyes, trying to focus on the screen, but her attention kept drifting to the feel of Paige’s hand in hers, the pressure of her touch. “I think you just like controlling things,” Azzi said, her voice softer now, with a hint of something more teasing underneath.
Paige smirked, her grip remaining firm as she helped Azzi push through the game. “You know I love being in control.”
Azzi shifted, feeling the warmth of Paige’s chest against her back as she continued to play. “You’re really trying to get me flustered, huh?” Azzi teased, though the playful tone didn’t quite match the fluttering feeling in her stomach.
Paige’s chuckle was low and soft, her lips brushing against the side of Azzi’s neck as she continued guiding her hands. “If you’re flustered, then I’m doing something right.” She let out a light laugh when Azzi flinched slightly at the touch. “But you need to focus, Az. We’re trying to win here.”
Azzi, still caught in the tangle of their touch and the warmth of Paige’s breath, let out a small, involuntary laugh. “I’m trying, but it’s hard when you’re distracting me like this.”
Paige leaned in, her lips grazing Azzi’s ear as she whispered, “Then I guess you’ll just have to try harder, huh?”
As Azzi’s thumb pressed the button under Paige’s guidance, she couldn’t ignore the way her pulse quickened under Paige’s touch. “You’re insane,” Azzi muttered, but she didn’t pull away.
Paige’s smile deepened, the playful glint in her eyes never fading as she held Azzi’s hands in hers. “You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
Azzi smirked, her voice light and teasing as she turned her head just enough for their faces to be dangerously close. “I didn’t say it was a bad thing,” she replied, her tone playful but with a hint of challenge. Her eyes locked with Paige’s, a subtle heat building between them. “But you’re starting a game that I was always better than you at,” she added, her words dripping with teasing confidence as she leaned just a little closer, her breath brushing against Paige’s skin.
Azzi’s smirk only deepened as she leaned back slightly, tilting her head just enough to make their lips almost touch. The tension in the air shifted, both of them clearly forgetting the game in favor of something else. Her voice dropped to a near whisper, sending a shiver down Paige’s spine. “I miss you, P. I’ve been replaying it in my head for weeks,” Azzi murmured, her fingers gently tracing over Paige’s fingers, the motion intentional and carrying an unmistakable double meaning.
Paige swallowed hard, her breath catching as Azzi’s words lingered in the space between them. Her heart raced, but she quickly detached herself from Azzi, leaning back and breaking the moment with a forced, lighthearted laugh. “Alright, I need to get away from Casanova here before I forget how to function,” Paige joked, trying to ease the tension as she put some space between them, though her smile betrayed her, a mix of amusement and something deeper still lingering in her eyes.
Azzi let out a soft sigh and rolled her eyes, clearly amused by Paige’s attempt to lighten the mood. Without saying another word, she grabbed her book from the bedside table and settled comfortably into Paige’s bed, leaning back against the pillows as she opened it to the page she had left off on.
Paige glanced over at her, a smile tugging at her lips as she started the game again, the sound of the controller clicking in the quiet room. Every now and then, she’d catch a glimpse of Azzi’s relaxed posture, her head slightly tilted down as she read, and the small sense of comfort that filled the space between them was nice to have again.
After a while, because Paige really was rusty, she finally won a round of Fortnite, she threw the controller onto the bed with a triumphant “Victory!” She turned around, expecting to see Azzi’s usual playful smirk, but instead, Azzi was fast asleep, her body sprawled across the bed. The sight of her like this—calm, peaceful, unguarded—struck something in Paige. She hadn’t seen Azzi like this in a while, and it warmed her more than she expected.
Paige smiled softly to herself, a little bittersweet. After turning everything off she carefully climbed into bed, trying not to wake Azzi, but the moment she settled in, Azzi instinctively shifted closer, snuggling into her side like it was the most natural thing in the world. Paige smiled again, a real, gentle smile, her heart fluttering at the simple act of them being close again.
The room was quiet for a while, save for the soft, rhythmic sound of Azzi’s breathing. Paige felt herself drifting to sleep for the first time in a while, feeling the weight of everything they’d been through slowly melting away, replaced by the comfortable warmth of having Azzi beside her again. Just as she was about to fall asleep, Azzi’s soft voice broke the silence.
“Thank you for the necklace,” Azzi whispered, her voice barely audible. Paige’s chest tightened at the sincerity behind the words.
Paige smiled, her eyes still closed, and whispered back, her voice soft with affection. “You’re welcome.”
A small moment of silence passed between them as they both settled into the shared space of the bed. They weren’t together—not yet—but there was a quiet understanding between them. They weren’t rushing anything. They would work on it slowly but surely until they were ready. It felt like progress, even without words.
Just as they settled into a peaceful sleep, the sound of footsteps echoed in the hall. Ice, who had been passing by, peeked in and caught a glimpse of the two of them. She paused for a moment, watching as Paige and Azzi snuggled so naturally together. She smiled to herself, happy for them, before snapping a quick picture, closing the door and walking down the hallway to send the picture in the groupchat.

Saw your tags on that binder post and I thought I’d share that my first introduction to chest binding was actually through the lolita community! A lot of big name japanese brands are not exactly size inclusive and did NOT cater to anyone with more than an A cup, so I did see quite a lot of safe binding advice and methods on blogs and forums back in the day before more inclusive brands became available, ranging from sports bra to actual proper binders. I’m probably not the only example of the “binding to fit into an angelic pretty dress” to “binding to fit into an angelic pretty dress and gender reasons)” pipeline, but plenty of other lolitas I know are still cis women who just do it on occasion or for specific pieces that aren’t very forgiving on the tits! I doubt that a single niche fashion subculture is the reason for those binders being marketed towards cis women so heavily, but I thought this was a funny anecdote :)
Fascinating!
patricia taxxon shit really fucking hurts. i dont want to be effected by a random internet microcelebrity not liking transdudes, that happens often enough. but god her music and essays got me through really rough shit and it really hurts to see someone i looked up to for well written essays and work fall back on the bullshit arguments used to deny my lived experiences. it really really fucking hurts, especially with how it feels barely anyone will talk about or call it out. i thought trfs were something id have to look hard for, and seeing their rhetoric creep into the fucking music i listen to and tumblrs i follow really truly scares me
I'm sorry, anon. I love you a lot. <3
“You shouldn’t break up the trans community into groups!” The TRFs literally came up with a way to break up the community via TMA/TME. They are actively distancing themselves from the community by baking fearmongering into their ideology. God forbid we create a term about sticking together against a group within the community that’s inherently dividing?
lmao literally
Just had my first time getting sexually harassed by a woman as a percieved cis man and commiserating afterwards with a cis man about how we're all just supposed to be cool with being treated like that. It's a weird experience and somehow going through the same things mostly from women as a girl then nonbinary then a trans guy it feels the same but the flavors change. I know the discourse is literally nothing but it makes me feel like my feelings shouldn't matter because of the male privilege. And I even did my civic duty and took the brunt of it away from the other trans man who was getting it worse because of his percieved feminine traits which people also like to pretend doesn't happen. All of it is just stupid.
It's fine, she was a woman and you're a man so that was praxis sexual harassment.
honestly i think a better predictor of how much autonomy a child is able to have over their presentation is probably whether the child is disabled moreso than agab, like i not only wasn't allowed to have my hair too short, i also wasn't allowed to have it too long for a chunk of my childhood because it took me awhile to understand how to brush my hair (because i was afraid to because i am hypersensitive to touch and my mother would always brush my hair in a way that hurt so much i would cry), and my mother would bitch and moan about how difficult i was about it (because she was hurting me and did not listen when i told her this) and so i wasn't allowed to have longer hair until i could brush it myself. ultimately the biggest factor is always the attitude of the parents though
God, so much of my shit with my mother was over my hair, it still really gets to me.
TRF is like the whole voting for face eating panthers. But it’s like TERFs are the panthers and TRFs are a cheetah, like “I’m a kind of cat too so they won’t eat my face as long as I eat faces too right?” WRONG they see you as prey, they won’t spare you because they see a fellow cat, they’ll eat your face cuz you’re not a panther!
cis women will like me if I explain to them how I'm -taxonomically- a woman
it’s insane to me that ‘it’s bad to hate someone for an uncontrollable part of their identity no matter who they are’ is a controversial take now
we've regressed
when people say ‘um ackshually i can say i want all men to die and if you tell me “men see these things and go far right because they think it’s true” then you are blaming women for men’s bad behaviour’ i just immediately assume that this person is stupid as fuck like. if a teenage boy goes online to see what feminism is about and is bombarded with ‘kill all men’ ‘all men are rapists’ etc then OBVIOUSLY he’s not gonna want to be feminist. it is really not that fucking hard to understand. people don’t wanna be in spaces that are cruel to them for an aspect of their identity that they cannot control it’s not ‘blaming women for misogynistic men’ to say that. it’s just fucking true. people are so stupid it actually pains me
unfortunately radfem juice is addictive

D.D. | Shane's Girl [10]
Part Ten | Masterlist | Buy me a coffee | Check out the playlist
Summary: Daryl Dixon knows he shouldn’t be thinking about you when he’s alone at night in his tent. Hell, he shouldn’t even be looking at you throughout the day. You’re not his. You’re Shane’s girl. But Daryl doesn’t like the way Shane treats you. And he certainly doesn’t like how you’re forced to play ‘loving girlfriend’ to a man with eyes for another woman at the camp.
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x female!Reader
Warnings: Shane Walsh is the worst, angst, canon violence, mentions of tobacco use, chapter follows “Tell it to the Frogs” but dialogue and events are paraphrased.
Word Count: 3K
Author’s Note: Me posting twice in a week? Unheard of. I've just been feeling very inspired for this story and this chapter just took on a life of it's own. I try to keep these chapter under 2,000 words, but this one is a tad longer. Hope you all enjoy! As always I would love to hear what y'all think.
After an eventful night around the campfire, you return to your empty tent. A part of you was thankful when Shane told the group that he was taking watch tonight, but another part of you recognizes that he’s simply trying to delay the inevitable. You’re just not sure you’re ready for that conversation right now. Not after the whiplash of emotions you experienced today: from the joy of one of your best friends returning from the dead to the devastation you felt for Daryl at the realization that Merle didn’t make it back from Atlanta.
You had asked about the older Dixon’s absence during a lull in the conversation after you’d all finished dinner. Rick explained what had happened in Atlanta, and though you understood why he chose to handcuff Merle on the roof, your heart broke for Daryl. When you asked if they planned to return to the city for him, you were met by a scoff from Shane and a mumbled good riddance under his breath. His reaction made you sick to your stomach. You may not care for Merle Dixon, but Daryl does. And for all you know, he’s the only family that Daryl has left.
The prolonged silence that ensued after your question was an answer in itself. They didn’t plan on going back for him.
You lie down on your cot, sighing as you stare into the darkness above you. Your mind is still racing at the realization of Shane’s infidelity. You hadn’t gotten a chance to process the insinuation during the constant commotion this evening, but now that you were alone, it’s all you can think about. You roll over, closing your eyes and hoping that some sleep will give you a clearer perspective on your dilemma. But even though today took pretty much everything out of you, sleep never seemed further away. The idea of holding onto all of this alone is exhausting, but who are you supposed to talk to right now? Rick and Lori just got each other back. You barely know Glenn and Dale. And even though you’re friends with Andrea and Amy, anything told to the sisters tends to spread through the camp like wildfire. You wish Daryl was here.
But then there’s your second problem. How do you explain to Daryl that the group left his brother in Atlanta? And how will he respond? Daryl’s just started opening up to you, and you’re depending on that budding friendship now more than ever. You’re afraid he will pull away from the group due to the betrayal. And you wouldn’t blame him — betrayal weighs heavy on your heart right now.
You let out another sigh as you turn onto your back. You pull your thin blanket over your head, trying to physically block out the thoughts spiraling inside of your brain. In an attempt to calm yourself down, you pull Dale’s book out of your backpack and ignite your small flashlight. You open the book to where you left off, but instead of getting further into the novel, your eyes drift to the crumpled piece of paper acting as your placeholder. Finally, you drift off rereading Daryl’s hastily written note.
When you wake, you’re met with rays of morning sunlight filtering through the flaps of your tent. You blink the grogginess out of your eyes. Even though you slept more than usual last night, your body feels like it didn’t get any rest. You gather your strength and manage to get off of your small cot, groaning as your feet connect with the ground. Hopefully, you’ll feel better once you busy yourself with something to do around camp.
Exiting your tent, you’re met with a surprisingly empty camp. Your brow furrows as you sweep the area, but a small smile tugs at the corners of your lips as your eyes land on Rick talking to Carol by the RV. Having Rick Grimes back in your life still feels like a dream. You make your way up to the pair, and Rick glances over your way.
“You look as tired as I feel.”
Although his words are said in a humorous tone, his eyes hold a look of genuine concern. The small smile on your face grows a bit wider at the sight. Rick Grimes isn’t your blood, but you’ve considered him your family since you befriended Lori all those years ago.
“Just a restless night, I suppose.”
You attempt to brush off the concern nonchalantly. The last thing you want to do is worry Rick as he’s settling back in with his friends and family. But even though he lets out a warm chuckle at your response, the concern etched into his features doesn’t dissipate. Rick opens his mouth to reply, but is cut off by a woman screaming. The two of you look toward where the sound is coming from, somewhere off in the surrounding woods, before looking back at each other with wide eyes.
“Lori…”
Without another word, the two of you race off into the woods with Carol not far behind. As you both get further into the forest, you begin to hear a medley of concerned voices. And finally, you find a small clearing with the entire group gathered around Sophia and Carl. Rick rushes over to his son, but your eyes are fixated on an inanimate walker lying beside a deer carcass. Your hand subconsciously lands on your hip and grabs the hilt of your hunting knife. Although it looks like some of the men handled the walker, you still have a sinking feeling in your stomach as your eyes rake over the jagged bite marks that trail down the deer’s neck.
A rustling in the woods pulls your attention away from the carnage, and suddenly, everyone is on high alert. You watch as both Shane and Rick get in front of Lori and Carl, shielding them with their bodies as they draw their guns up toward the sound. Your tense shoulders relax, and a relieved sigh escapes your lips as Daryl appears from the dense forest brush. Everyone drops their weapons as Daryl raises his hands. Shane groans as he spots a handful of squirrels that Daryl has tied onto a rope in his left hand. Daryl glares at Shane for a second before his eyes land on the mangled deer lying on the forest floor.
“Son of a bitch!”
Daryl approaches the deer, angrily muttering about how he’d been tracking it for miles. He kicks the deer in frustration and drops to a knee to assess the damage the walker has done.
“I was gonna drag it back to camp — cook us all up some venison. What do you think? Think we could cut around the chewed-up parts?”
Daryl’s proposal earns him several disgusted groans, and Shane responds.
“I wouldn’t risk it, man.”
Daryl sighs disappointedly before standing up from the deer. He wipes off his hands on the front of his jeans. His eyes harden slightly as he looks over at Shane.
“That’s a damn shame. Got some squirrel though — that’ll have to make due.”
From behind him, the walker begins groaning and Daryl rolls his eyes as multiple people cry out in horror. In one swift motion he swings his crossbow from behind his back and shoots the walker square between the eyes. Daryl’s eyes scan the small crowd that has gathered around all of the commotion. His posture relaxes ever-so-slightly as his eyes meet yours. He gives you a subtle nod — a small gesture you’ve grown accustomed to. Instead of nodding back, you drop your eyes to the ground. You’re not quite sure how to face him right now — overwhelmed by a mix of embarrassment over your current predicament with Shane and guilt that you didn’t go to Atlanta after learning about Merle. Realistically, you know that there’s no way that you could go on a lone rescue mission to the city to save Merle, but you still feel like you should have done something.
Daryl’s brow furrows, and his heart clenches at your reaction. What happened while he was gone? Daryl looks around and suddenly realizes that everyone in camp is staring at him with a disheartened expression — everyone except Merle. His eyes quickly scan the group once more before he starts making his way toward their shared tent. Everyone moves to follow him.
“Merle! Merle, where you at?”
You move to step forward. If anyone was going to break the news about his brother, it should be someone who cares about him. But before you can speak, Shane pushes you behind him and takes the lead.
“Daryl, just slow up a bit. We need to talk to you about Merle. There was a problem in Atlanta.”
Daryl chews on his bottom lip for a second before responding.
“He dead?”
Your heart breaks as you watch Daryl’s expression drop.
“We’re not sure.”
Daryl’s face hardens at Shane’s answer.
“He either is or he ain’t!”
Rick puts a hand on Shane’s shoulder before things get too heated between the two hot-headed men. As Daryl’s gaze shifts from Shane to Rick and his eyes narrow.
“Who the hell are you?”
“Rick Grimes.”
Recognition flashes in Daryl’s eyes as the name immediately reminds him of the numerous stories you’ve told him about the man you consider a brother. His gaze flickers to you briefly before shifting back to Rick. For your sake, he pushes his anger aside for a moment and chooses to listen to Rick. You watch intently as Rick explains the events that happened in Atlanta. Daryl’s nostrils flare, and his grip tightens around the squirrels he’s holding.
“You’re tellin’ me that you handcuffed my brother on top of a roof and left him there?”
“Yeah.”
And then all hell breaks loose. Daryl throws the bundle of squirrels at Rick, causing Shane to launch himself at Daryl. You rush forward as Shane tackles Daryl to the floor. You’re yelling at Shane — begging him to get off of Daryl. As you attempt to pull Shane off of him, Shane reaches back and pushes you off of him. Daryl yells as you hit the ground hard. Rick helps you up, and there’s a collective gasp as Daryl, who has managed to get out of Shane’s hold, pulls out his hunting knife.
“Stop it!”
You step in between the two men — back to Shane. Daryl’s chest heaves from the physical activity, and his eyes don’t leave the man behind you.
“Daryl.”
Finally, his eyes meet yours, and his face softens ever-so-slightly. He sighs before dropping the knife. You nod at him approvingly before turning to look at Shane. Although Daryl seems to have settled down, Shane is still fuming. His gaze is like daggers as he continues to stare at Daryl. T-Dog steps forward to diffuse the situation.
“I dropped the key, but I locked the door. Nothing should be able to get in there — we just have to go back.”
You hear Daryl grunt from behind you. As you turn to face him, he’s chewing on his bottom lip again. You can practically see the gears turning his head.
“Just tell me where he is so I can go get him.”
“I’ll go back with you.”
Lori clenches her jaw at Rick’s words, obviously upset by her husband’s decision. T-Dog nods at Rick’s words before stating he’ll join them. Shane mutters a string of expletives under his breath as Rick glances around the group. His eyes land on Glenn, and he shifts his feet nervously.
“Really, man?”
“You know the city better than anybody. It’d make me feel safer knowing you’re there with me.”
Glenn hesitates for a moment before nodding. Rick gives him a small smile, and Shane lets out an exasperated sigh.
“So that’s your big plan, man? You, T-Dog, Glenn, and Daryl?”
“And me.”
Suddenly, everyone’s eyes land on you. Shane’s expression hardens as his eyes meet yours. His gaze is ice cold, but you don’t back down.
“The hell you are!”
“I’m going, Shane.”
Shane huffs before taking several steps toward you.
“Are you outta your goddamn mind? This is Merle Dixon we’re talking about.”
You glance back over your shoulder at Daryl who is nervously shifting from one foot to the other. He’s watching the interaction attentively. Just like always, he’s prepared to step in if Shane loses his cool.
“He’s still human, Shane. He deserves better than to die handcuffed on top of a roof like a rabid animal.”
Shane’s expression tightens as his gaze briefly shifts between you and Daryl. His gaze eventually focuses back on you and his eyes narrow.
“You’re really gonna do this for him?”
He juts his chin towards Daryl, and you let out a dry laugh due to the absurdity of this conversation. Everyone’s watching the stand-off between you and Shane intently — you’d be embarrassed by the attention if you weren’t so angry.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with him, alright? It’s about doing the right thing.”
Shane takes another menacing step forward. You know what he’s doing — he’s trying to intimidate you into submission, but you’re done with this. He squares his shoulders as he towers over you, but instead of cowering, you stand your ground.
“That’s bullshit. If you leave with them, we’re done.”
His voice is seething. He’s desperately trying to regain control of the situation — the ultimatum is proof of that.
“We’ve been done, Shane.”
You turn to leave the conversation, but Shane reaches out and grabs your wrist. The grip he has on you is bone-breaking, and you let out a surprised yelp as he pulls you back towards him. Immediately, Daryl springs into action. A low, threatening growl rumbles in his throat as he moves toward you.
“Don’t fucking touch her.”
Shane’s grip tightens at Daryl’s warning. You squirm due to the pain shooting up your arm. You desperately try to wriggle out of Shane’s grasp, but it’s too tight.
“Stay out of this. She isn’t yours.”
“Are you deaf? She ain’t yours either.”
Before Shane can react, Rick grabs his shoulder. He looks at you and Shane with wide eyes, obviously confused about what has happened between you both during his absence.
“Brother, what are you doing?”
Finally, Shane releases his grip, and you immediately backstep away from him. Daryl places a gentle hand on your shoulder and moves you further away from Shane. Rick’s brow furrows in confusion as he watches Daryl precautiously step in front of you. He’s obviously missing something here. The last time he saw you both — before the accident, before the coma — you were laughing with each other during dinner at Rick and Lori’s. He remembers your joy. But now you’re looking at his best friend with nothing but discontent. And Daryl, the man that Shane warned Rick about last night, is the one protecting you from a man you shouldn’t fear. Rick shakes his head before addressing the rest of the group.
“Alright everyone, the show’s over. Let’s all cool off for a bit, okay?”
The group begins to wander off in different directions. But Daryl and Shane continue to stare each other down until Rick grabs Shane’s shoulder again.
“Shane, let’s go.”
It sounds more like a warning than a suggestion. Finally, Shane tears his eyes away from Daryl and stomps into camp. Rick gives you one last apologetic look before following after his best friend. You let out a sigh of relief and let your shoulders drop as the tense encounter finally ends. Daryl turns to face you, and his eyes immediately drop to your wrist, which is already beginning to bruise.
“You ‘lright?”
You nod wordlessly, still overwhelmed by everything that just happened. Daryl moves you back toward a fallen log to sit you down before he cautiously grabs your wrist. You’re so far away right now you don’t even respond to the touch. He drops down on one knee and gently assesses the damage that Shane caused, making sure nothing’s broken. Once Daryl is content with his assessment, he meets your eyes. His expression is brimming with worry as he searches your face.
“You sure you’re ‘lright?”
Finally, you meet his eyes, and Daryl’s heart breaks at the sight of your broken appearance. He’s overwhelmed by his need to protect you — a feeling that’s becoming increasingly common for him as he spends more time with you. This time, you simply shake your head. Honestly, you have no idea what you feel right now.
Daryl nods and takes a seat beside you. He feels like a fucking idiot. He never should have left you here for so long — not after everything you told him about Shane, everything he’s observed over the weeks you’ve spent in camp together. Before he can kick himself further, you speak again.
“It’s over, right?”
Daryl looks at you softly and nods.
“It’s over.”
“But he’s still…”
“You ain’t gotta worry about him anymore. I promise you, I ain’t gonna let him do anything to you. Not anymore.”
You’re overwhelmed by the sincerity in his tone and the devotion in his eyes. He promises to protect you like he’s taking an oath. And for the first time since he left on his hunting trip, you feel safe. You nod, honestly believing that Daryl would put himself in harms way for your own well-being. Hell, he already did. You lean back against the fallen log and Daryl reaches into his pocket before wordlessly offering you a cigarette. A warm laugh bubbles in your chest at the gesture and Daryl wishes he could record the sound. You take the cigarette and give him a small smile.
“You’re a bad influence, Dixon.”
A smirk pulls at the corner of Daryl’s lips as he hands you a lighter. You take it graciously and Daryl watches you light the cigarette between your lips. You hand the lighter back to him before taking a long drag.
Goddamn.
He always thought those cowboy killers would kill one day — but he was wrong. You’re going to be the death of him and he’s okay with that. Because he can’t think of a more wonderful way to go.

The "best thing to happen to Kinger's lower half" is not foreshadowing, but a hint to his past in the circus. Hear me out.
So we all remember "Kinger's Special Place" and how those Checkmates socks (Plus Kinger "wearing" one of them) caused a lot of fans to worry over the fate of our beloved chess piece?
Yeah. The more I think about it, the more I feel like we're viewing all this from the completely wrong angle. This isn't telling us what WILL happen to Kinger...
It's telling us what ALREADY happened to Kinger and WHY he's the way he is now.
Gangle's supposed "Near-abstraction" moment in EP 4 made me think back to Kinger's core memory with his abstracted wife. He couldn't recall the exact string of events that lead up to it, but that moment in the fort where she calmed down enough for him to caress her was forever ingrained into his mind.
Maybe it's because said moment was what saved him from immediately following Queenie into abstraction--
"Erm, eckshualeeeee, when Gangle snapped back from abstracting, she didn't go insane like Kinger. Theory debunked along with your Stupid sauce scandal idea."
Well, yeah. Because she was just starting to abstract before Pomni offered to switch shifts with her. Meanwhile, I think Kinger was already deep into abstracting before ending up in the pillow fort with Queenie.
This silly image of Keychain!Kinger wearing the Queenie sock? It represents HOW CLOSE he was to completely breaking. He still managed to snap back, the absolute chad, but having been so near the brink of no return, the mental damage was already done and couldn't be reversed (much like how you can't come back from fully abstracting).
That's why Kinger's mind is so scrambled/fragmented present day.
Upon this recontextualization, so many things start adding up (at least for me).
Both his and Abstracted!Queenie's behavior follow the same patterns. Erratic and unpredictable in the light. Lucid and calm in the dark. This can most likely be applied to anyone else who abstracted too.
He can't recall the events between after Queenie abstracting and before he ended up in the pillow fort because he was probably HARDCORE dissociating.
He was more paranoid and unstable than usual after the Gloinks took apart his fortress because they robbed him of his ANCHOR.
And of course, all this can further explain how Kinger has managed to last in the circus longer than anyone else. DOI\I'T FORGET. YOU'RE HERE FOREVER.
...Orrrrr maybe I'm just on extreme hopium + copium over my favorite character and the checkmates socks are just comfy socks and nothing more. I AM the same person who concocted the crack-ass "Spudsy's Signature Special Sauce Scandal" theory, after all. XP
We'll just have to wait and se

The Arcturus Missions
Part Eighteen - Headaches
Part Seventeen
———
Copper, a surprisingly good conductor of heat and electricity. It’s used for building materials and in various alloys. It is used in wiring, plumbing, and industrial applications, such as mecha suits.
They are also used for a number of other applications, the metal is malleable and can be bent into ideal shapes for specific applications. It has antibacterial properties and is resistant to corrosion, it’s often used in the making of spirits. The heat applied is spread evening to the surface area and can heat the liquor evenly to make the process simple enough that it has been known to happen in military housing or on fronts.
Copper stills range in size and capabilities, able to make several types of liquor depending on the resources accessible to the user. They can make whiskey, though the aging process takes a considerable amount more time in separate barrels, than several clear liquors such as vodka, gin, and moonshine. All taking different ingredients and time frames.
Though distilling without a license is illegal in the United States, it doesn’t stop people from learning how to distill their own liquor and distilling in international territory depends on whose territory you are currently at host to.
—
The apartment was nearly cold and they were all out of their suits, Prowl had yet to make an appearance as he was still dealing with details down at central. For the moment, Hound was up in Breakdown's suit and had his tool kit with him. It had been moved from the Odyssey the first time one of them burst a line, the poor shuttle was getting less and less use the longer they were working with the Cybertronian’s. Breakdown was laying down in their makeshift bedroom, it was a platform with cots on it for them all in the bedroom, so the lights were turned down in there for him. Sunstreaker was watching Hound work, trying to take in the repairs and understand what he was doing, but unlike Hound who’d worked on military machinery before being a pilot the only experience Sunstreaker had was super-charging cars. Sure, there was some overlap but not nearly enough.
Hound swore and pulled his hand back, it was covered in oil from a burst line, though the glove he wore protected him somewhat, “Sonny, grab me that line clamp.” His hands were halfway into Breakdown’s shoulder by the time Sunstreaker handed over the clamp, “Fuck, I’ll have to get fluid for the system.” They worked like that, every few minutes Hound would swear and Sunstreaker would dive into the tool kit for something he needed, “I’m going to hold this piece back, you’re going to go in with the wrench to finish the repair.” Pausing, Sunstreaker looks up, “But, I don’t know how to repair a suit,” “And you’re going to learn cause my hands can’t reach the inner joint.” Sighing deeply, Sunstreaker adjusted his stance on the plating before going into the joint.
It took then a few hours to get the arm adjusted and recalibrated, Knockout did a great job but the lines needed to be redone in the spare material from earth, the cybertronian stuff just wouldn’t hold up to the suit's weight or stress.
Sideswipe comes out of the bathroom, groaning, “Are you two almost done up there? I want to head into Iacon Central.” Sunstreaker gives him a look, face streaked in oil and grease, “Sides, now is not the time. If we don’t get Breakdown’s suit repaired everyone will start to figure out what they're not supposed to.” He crossed his arms, frowning, “Well Prowl doesn’t want us going into town by ourselves, Jazz is asleep, and you two are more so breaking Breakdown’s suit.” Sunstreaker groaned and pulled away from the wires, pointing at his brother, “Just, hang on,” Shaking his head, Hound turned toward them both, “If you two are just going to bicker do it elsewhere. I need to focus.” Sunstreaker turned, “But Hound,” “Now Sunstreaker. If this isn’t repaired before our meeting with Joan— I mean the Prime, damnit, then they’ll insist that Breakdown goes to Knockout again.” Sunstreaker sighed slowly, “And he’ll actually run the scans this time,” “Only to find a tiny organic in his chest instead of the typical spark.” Sideswipe almost looked sheepish, almost, “So please, for the love of god, go argue somewhere else. But don’t disturb Breakdown.” Hound wipes a hand across his forehead, smearing the grease across it while he goes back into the repair. Leaving the twins glaring at each other.
—
Hound was the only one going to the meeting, Jazz was taking the twins into central Iacon just to shut them up for a klick or two and Breakdown was still resting though his suit was at least repaired. Hound had a pounding headache, once Sideswipe and Sunstreaker had stopped arguing they’d turned music on just low enough to not wake Breakdown but loud enough to grate at Hound’s migraine. Prowl had come to let them all know they were effectively free and Jazz had made quick work of cornering the twins, “Let’s go into Iacon Central, go to the market. Hey, there is a pretty cool upgrades place I think you two will love.” Sunstreaker had tried to argue but Sideswipe covered his mouth with a far to practiced ease, “Yead, that sounds great. Just the three of us hitting the town. We can get the stuff for our project while we’re out.” There was a moment of pause before Sunstreaker lout out the biggest and most dramatic sigh Hound had ever seen, “Fine, but only for the parts we need.” Jazz was grinning, which couldn’t be a good sign. His head was pounding.
”I worry I don’t even want to ask what you’re getting parts for,” Hound was back in his suit, rubbing his forehead as the twins to into their respective cockpits, “Oh don’t worry commander,” That was never a good sign, “This will be something we all can enjoy, after a few tweaks.” And that really wasn’t a good sign, “We’ll have to stop by the Odyssey for some stuff too Jazz.” Sunstreaker was the first up, stretching lightly while waiting on his brother, “Oh yeah, if we could get this stuff going tonight it would be perfect.” Hound’s head was throbbing and their conversation was not going to help ease it, Jazz laughed, “Yeah, we can stop in at the warehouse on the way back.” Sideswipe stood and started to usher the pair out, “Alright, don’t wait up. We’ll see you two sticks in the mud tonight.” The door slid open and shut harshly, as if they were able to slam a door like that.
Prowl stood there, staring after where the three of them went with a frown, “Should we be concerned?” “Definitely.” Sighing Hound moved around and grabbed the tablet that he’d been given when they landed, rubbing his face, “Is Breakdown joining us?” Shaking his head, Hound tucked the tablet into his chute holder, “No, I’ve ordered him to rest and last I checked he was sound asleep.” Prowl nodded slowly, frowning, “Will he be alright?” With a nod, Hound starts towards the door, “It’s a concussion, he just needs rest and time to heal.” “I don’t think Jazz has had a concussion before,” Prowl’s voice was tinted with concern, “Well, after you’ve had one you’re far more susceptible. The older suits, like Breakdown's, don't have all the same protections for concussive force.” He knocked lightly against his chest, “Or the same structure for the assistance suits. We have this guy, named Blur, he used to race back on Earth. he said it would be smart to put something called a HANS device in. Most of ours are attached to the piloting seat then clip onto our suits, Breakdown only got one installed before the mission.” Sighing a bit, Hound shields his eyes a bit as they go out into the hall, “It won’t stop everything, but it’s meant to help for impacts and things.” Prowl nodded slowly, watching before falling into step with Hound.
They walked together in silence, which Hound was grateful for, able to turn down his audio receivers for a bit before Prowl cleared his throat, “Hound, are you feeling alright?” He was thankful the mech kept his voice low, sighing as he nodded a bit, “Yes, Prowl. I’m alright. Just a headache.” Prowl’s steps slowed, he was frowning, “Do you want to postpone the meeting? I know that when Jazz gets headaches they can be helped with being in the dark and not in your suit.” Sighing, Hound shook his head, “No, no the meeting is too important to postpone. Plus, it could help with some of my headache. Once we’re there I’ll take something for it.” Nodding, Prowl fell back into silence, Hound smiled a bit, “So, uh, How are things with Jazz?” Prowl chuckled lightly, shaking his head, “I can see small talk carries over no matter the species.” With a shrug, Hound looks at him, “Well?” Prowl shook his head.
It didn’t take long to hear what though, “Things, as you phrased it, with Jazz are fine.” Hound hummed and Prowl almost whipped around, “I know that tone.” Laughing and holding his head, Hound held up his other hand, “You can’t answer the question with just rephrasing it on Earth, otherwise people will definitely think things aren’t fine.” Prowl sighed, rolling his eyes a bit to Hound’s amusement, “Then Jazz and I are doing well, certainly better than others.” There was a touch of tone there that Hound thought sounded like sarcasm but this was Prowl, nodding a bit, Hound cleared his throat a bit, “I take it you spoke with Mirage and found out what uh, a word that doesn’t translate is.” Frowning, Prowl shook his head, “What are you talking about?” At least you could count on Prowl for being the last one to hear the gossip, “Mirage and I were speaking on the shuttle back here, I mentioned being divorced—“ Prowl almost jumped out of his plating, “Which clearly translates to something horrible but it’s just the legal separation between two people on Earth, two people who were married but no longer want to be.” It took a minute for Prowl to be able to speak, “That word translates into the breaking and permanent separation of a joined spark,” He takes a breath, “It effectively would mean, for us, that your Conjux has since passed and that is an incredibly painful experience.” Nodding a bit, Hound sighed, “Yeah, I figured it was something like that. No, I was married young and it didn’t work out for a lot of reasons, but she’s not dead.” Prowl cracked a smile at that, nodding.
The sunshine made his head throb again, wincing a bit as he turned down the brightness of his visual feed. Prowl rested a hand lightly on his arm, “Are you sure,” “Prowl, this meeting needs to happen.” His steps stalled for a moment, “Why?” Hound sighed and glanced back towards the apartment building, “We need to rethink the structure of our team, right now if we continue the direction that we are, I doubt it’ll end well.” “Meaning?” Prowl was trying hard to keep his tone neutral, but Hound knew, “On Earth, pilots rarely work with other pilots, because we’re all stubborn and hardheaded. We don’t take orders well and the risk of death is high, the longer you work with another pilot the more connected you get and when they get hurt or worse it becomes harder to do the mission.” His hands clasp at his sides, taking a deep breath, “In the last two days we had one pilot try to kill a specialist and another got hurt, it will only continue to happen if we remain in the structure that we currently are.” Prowl was just staring at him, his eyes focusing and unfocusing, clearly running the statement through his tacnet. Hound waited, nodding his head slightly when Prowl looked at him and not through him, “That’s why this meeting is important, I need to discuss spreading out my team with Optimus Prime, a higher chance of survival and success for all of us.” Prowl bowed his head slightly, staring at the 97.6% in the corner of his own visual feed, the number that had been rising since their arrival.
Stepping onto the transport, Prowl fell silent again as Hound sagged into a seat, wanting to give him some relief to his migraine. In that moment, he could truly see the title commander written all over his plating, having seen both Optimus and Megatron fight these same internal battles over the years. Sidestepping slightly, he blocks the worst of the sun from Hound’s visual feeds, crossing his arms and guarding his friend from what little he could, either the sun or the stares of other Cybertronian’s.
—
Iacon Central was beautiful, it honestly reminded Sideswipe a lot of Miami and eased some of the homesickness. Though it was also staggeringly different, with the transformation lanes and flight-frames overhead buzzing the buildings every few minutes. It was thrilling and terrifying at the same time, him and Sunstreaker were following Jazz down the road, “We need copper, preferably copper tubing but still copper and an oversized cube.” Jazz looks over his shoulder, “What are you two planning?” Sunstreaker scoffs, “We. Aren't planning anything. He planned it and I’m going to build it.” Sideswipe clasped his hand against his twin's shoulder, “Oh come on, this was always the dream, we just have the space for it now.” Jazz’s visor darken slightly, “I don’t like that you’re using my apartment for unknown mystery projects.” Sideswipe comes up and throws an arm around his shoulders, “Jazz, I swear, you are going to love this. Now,” “Yeah yeah, copper tubing and a giant cube. I heard ya.” Sunstreaker sighed deeply, still dragging his feet a bit as they headed into the marketplace.
—
Autobot Central, now known as the headquarters of the primal vanguard, was massive and reminded Hound of some state capitals back on Earth. Not in the appearance really but in its grand scale. Prowl and him were climbing the steps to the main entrance, several guards standing out front stoic as statues though they opened the gate as they got to it, “Thanks,” Hound nodded to them slightly as they went through, Prowl nodding as well, “I have primary access.” That made a lot of sense. They had to climb more steps to the building, sighing a bit Hound followed Prowl up and inside.
The halls were massive, even by the standards of mechs it was huge, certainly bigger than any of the warehouses that Hound’s suit had been stored in. A few of the mecha that they passed were familiar but none were ones that Hound knew well. Prowl nodded to a few, keeping a low voice and telling Prowl who they passed, “That was Tracks, generally not friendly. That one is Swerve and no, I don’t know why he’s acting like he saw a ghost. He acts the same way around Jazz, and primus go this way.” He redirects Hound with a shove down a separate hallway, “If we ran into Starstream we’d never make it to the meeting.” Hound tried not to smile, nodding a bit, “Yeah, I know plenty of people like that back home.” They kept walking together though going quiet as the number of people dwindled the deeper they got into the fortress.
Ironhide stood outside the door, looking bored, “Took the two of you long enough to get here,” He smiles, “Everyone is inside, I’ll join you as soon as my replacement shows up.” Prowl nodded and scanned in for the door, letting Hound enter first.
Hound had seen this room over video several times but had never been inside, it was command, the main command that Prowl generally worked from. Looking to Prowl, who simply shrugged, they entered. There weren’t many people in the room, Megatron and Optimus Prime were sitting towards the front of the room, talking quietly with each other. Mirage was standing to the side with a mech that Hound didn’t know, Red Alert was on the command desk with another mech that Hound really didn’t know though had what was best described as a cat in his lap. There was a pink mecha stood to the side with a flight frame that looked a great deal like the Starscream that Prowl had insisted they avoid. Hound knew several seekers though and was at least vaguely familiar with the frame type, how they stuck to groups of three or trines, as well as what happened to the trine if one or more of them died. Optimus looks up and the smile reached his eyes, the room almost growing uncomfortably warm, “Hound, just the mecha we were waiting on, please come have a seat and once Ironhide is able to join us we can start.” Nodding a bit, Hound moved over and took a seat that looked the least comfortable, he could hear one mech sigh from relief before they took a different seat.
It didn’t take very long before Ironhide was able to join them, two other Seekers following him in before joining the blue one across the table from him, though one distinctly taking the seat near Megatron, Optimus nodded before sitting up, “Right, now that we’re all here we can start. Hound, I understand there is something you desire to discuss with us?” Nodding a bit, Hound pulled the tablet he had from his plating and set it on the table, “I want to restructure my unit, sir.” Everyone was watching intently now and Hound was far from a public speaker, “I think it will be best for the war and our joint effort.” Megatron tilted his head slightly, “How so?” Hound sighed slowly, “On Earth,” “You’re not on Earth, your on Cybertron,” And he suddenly understood why that mech was called Starscream, he winced slightly and turned the audio receivers down more, “On Earth, those of us found compatible are more often spread out across the planet to defend cities or regions.” Optimus nodded slowly, folding his hands, “Pilots, what we are called, we don’t work in units. We work with crews and teams in command, soldiers on the ground, but not other people who fight like we do. It’s too much of a liability, too much of a risk.” Megatron shifted in his seat, looking to Optimus, who held up a hand to let Hound continue to speak.
Shifting uneasily in his seat, Hound cleared his throat a bit, “With Breakdown getting hurt in the manner that he did, plus the disagreement between Sideswipe and Bluestreak, it’s becoming apparent to me that we need to be split amongst your units for the best outcome.” Starscream scoffed and several others looked around uneasily. Megatron was glowering, “As Starscream said, you are not on Earth, so why is it that your suggesting we follow the suicidal path that they had you on before?” Hound shook his head, pushing up off the table, “The last two days are only the start, it will continue to grow worse. When Breakdown got hurt it took two of us from the fight and if the others had been alerted it would have been all of us. It’s how we work, how we function.” Sighing, Hound picks up the tablet and offers it down the table, “I would suggest that we break up with mecha we’re familiar with and can work well with. This is what I would suggest.” Optimus takes it and quickly plugs the tablet into the table, bringing the files up in front of their eyes.
Megatron stared and set his jaw, “I don’t know how it is done on Earth, but we do not split up split sparks, ever. The fact that you rate suggesting it with your own kind.” Hound shook his head, “Being split spark is being two halves of the same whole effectively, from the moment that you are sparked. Well, it is not like that for us. Yes, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe were born on the same day, within minutes of each other to the same creators but they aren’t connected in the same manner, they can be physically separated for a period of time with limited psychological distress.” Optimus rubs his forehead and a few of the mecha shifted uncomfortably, Hound cleared his throat uncomfortably, “Sideswipe attacked Bluestreak because of a misunderstanding dealing with his brother and it will only grow worse the longer that those three work together, but I think Sunstreaker and Bluestreak are well paired for this.” He took a breath, “It won’t be permanent, I think we should only be separated for around a quartex or so, then reevaluated.” Slowly sitting back down, he folded his hands a bit anxiously, Optimus was nodding slowly and looked over, “Prowl, your thoughts?” Prowl nodded and plugged a drive into the table, “Every fight, their risk of death grows while ours has decreased rapidly, if my projections are correct then their risk will fall while separated and ours should remain mostly unchanged.” Megatron’s fist collided with the table, no one flinched but Ironhide winced, “Damn.”
”It isn’t right and we all know it.” He was practically growling, Optimus sighed and shook his head, “We know Megatron, but what else is there to do with such poor projections?” They stared at each other, clearly speaking over comms as the others around the table started to whisper to one another. Hound shifted a bit, “We know that these smaller attacks are happening both on Cybertron and in Cybertronian space, sending all five of us to one location isn’t going to help those areas.” Prowl sat back, staring off in the middle distance, “They are the units which now are taking the heaviest losses.” Hound nodded slightly, sighing, Megatron looked up, “I want to maintain two of you for my unit, not the twins since you seem so dead set on separating the pair,” “Megatron,” Megatron waves Optimus off, “You and Breakdown will remain with me, since Knockout has taken such a likely to the mech, once he is healed he can join us.” Nodding, Hound scratched at his jaw a bit, “I think that is fair,” “Also, we are going to have Sunstreaker and Sideswipe in separate units but in the same detail.” Optimus leans forward slightly, “I can understand why you feel the need to separate them and they will spend their off time apart, but they work better together in the fight than not, I can assume.” Nodding again, Hound sighs, “And Jazz?” Prowl leaned forward a bit, “Will return to his speciality work, what he was doing before you all arrive. It gives us four speciality units instead of one without losing much.” Hound bit his tongue lightly and nodded, it wasn’t what he’d been asking for but it was certainly better than their current downward spiral.
Optimus nods and looks to the pink mecha, “Elita, I want you to take Sideswipe and Ironhide will take Sunstreaker,” He holds up a hand lightly, “I will be safe in Iacon without you Ironhide while we attempt to deal with situation at hand, I need you in the field with Elita and the others.” “But Prime,” “Would it make you feel better if I were to join you?” The chorus of nos was certainly enough to make Hound wince and lightly hold his head, Megatron was staring at him so he slowly lowered his hand, “I will have Soundwave and be in Iacon, if an attack were to happen here then you’d all fall back to this position regardless.” Hound could see why he was the leader, certainly, once everyone was quiet again Optimus nodded, “We will send out the orders when each team is to depart, but for now there isn’t anything in the nearest system. We will remain on alert,” He pauses before looking to Hound, “Hound, I apologize but now I do have to ask you to leave the meeting, we’ll be discussing planetary objections. Ironhide, Elita, Blaster, Red Alert, Mirage, Skywarp, and Thundercraker will join you.” The two seekers were the first up and out, already talking painfully loudly even as Starscream puts his face in his hands, “They are idiots.” There were a few chuckles as chairs scraped, “Here Hound, I’ll walk you out of headquarters.” Mirage stands and walks over, smiling to Prowl as Hound stands, “Thanks, this place looked like a maze coming in.” “It basically is,” Mirage smiled and started out of the room, Hound glanced toward Megatron and Optimus before saluting and following Mirage out.
Once they’d left the room, Optimus chuckles lightly, “It would seem many of our own continue to find the odd visored mechs, uh, appealing.” Prowl’s faceplates burned as Elita burst out laughing, a hand covering his mouth, even Megatron chuckled.

A/N
Considering I had the weekend to write, I will be honest and say I wrote most of this today even though I was very much lacking time.
To be fair, it would have been up around 30 minutes sooner if my room hadn’t caught on fire (it was actually the top of the chimney, and it was hardly a fire) but still.
Things are starting to pick up, the fall out of the next part is going to be very interesting for all included parties, muhahaha.
I also wanted to know if you’d guys want me to link the next part in the pervious post or not? I know I link the previous chapter but I wasn’t sure if after the next part is posted you’d want a link to the next one at the bottom. Or just a link to the masterlist maybe? Which will be getting a revamp very soon.

Dead girl walking || HJS
Theater was never supposed to be my thing. Sure, I liked musicals, but I joined this production of Heathers: The Musical almost on a whim. Now, here I was, playing Veronica Sawyer and preparing for one of the most daring numbers in the entire show: Dead Girl Walking.
Jisung, my JD, was pacing across the dimly lit backstage area, occasionally stealing glances at the script he didn’t even need anymore. His phone buzzed in his hand, but he ignored it, biting his lip in concentration. He looked so focused that I almost didn’t want to disturb him. Almost.
“Hey,” I called out softly, walking toward him.
He startled slightly but recovered with a small laugh. “You’re too quiet,” he said, tucking his phone away. “What’s up?”
I shrugged, gripping my water bottle a little tighter than necessary. “Just… you know. Thinking about the scene.”
“The scene.” He nodded knowingly, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. “The one where we’re supposed to act like we’re on the brink of ripping each other’s clothes off in front of an entire audience?”
I rolled my eyes, but my cheeks flushed. “Yeah, that one.”
Jisung chuckled, leaning against the wall. “You’ll be great. You always are.”
I tried to ignore the way his words made my heart flutter. “You think so?”
“Of course. You make it look so effortless. Me? I’m just hoping I don’t trip over my feet or make it weird.”
“You never make it weird,” I said, and I meant it.
He hesitated, then glanced around to make sure no one was nearby. “Okay, confession time. I have a little pre-show ritual that helps.”
I raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And what’s that?”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small vape pen, holding it up as if presenting evidence.
“Seriously, Jisung?” I crossed my arms, half-amused and half-incredulous.
“Don’t judge me! It helps me relax. Especially for scenes like… tonight’s.”
I sighed, glancing at the clock. We had a few minutes before places were called. “Fine. But if you forget your lines or miss a cue, I’m throwing you under the bus.”
He grinned, taking a quick hit and exhaling a faint cloud of vapor. “I never miss a cue,” he said, his voice softening as the tension seemed to melt from his body.
The stage manager’s voice crackled through the speakers, calling the cast to their places. My heart pounded as I adjusted my costume, smoothing out imaginary wrinkles. Jisung joined me in the wings, his presence warm and steady beside me.
“You good?” he asked, his voice low.
I nodded. “You?”
“Yeah,” he said, though his eyes lingered on mine for a moment longer than necessary. There was something in his gaze I couldn’t quite place—something that sent a shiver down my spine.
The overture began, and the world around us seemed to fade. This was it.
When the music for Dead Girl Walking started, I was fully in character. My frustration, anger, and defiance flowed effortlessly as I belted out the opening lines.
And then Jisung entered.
From the moment he stepped on stage, something was different. His usual nervousness was gone, replaced by an intensity that took my breath away. His eyes locked onto mine, and it was like the rest of the world disappeared.
As the song progressed, the scene became more physical, more intimate. Jisung dropped to his knees in front of me, his hands resting on the sides of my thighs. The heat of his touch seeped through the fabric of my costume, grounding me and electrifying me all at once.
When he looked up at me, his eyes dark with emotion, I nearly lost my place. It wasn’t just acting anymore. There was something raw in his gaze, something real.
I felt my cheeks flush as I sang my lines, my voice trembling slightly. His hands tightened on my thighs, grounding me, but also sending sparks through my entire body. I could feel the audience’s eyes on us, but for a moment, it was just him and me.
As the music built to its climax, Jisung stood, pulling me closer. Our faces were inches apart, our breathing synchronized. My heart raced as I sang the final line, and the lights dimmed, leaving us in shadow.
The audience erupted into applause, but I barely heard it. My heart was still pounding, my skin still tingling from where his hands had been.
Backstage was a flurry of activity as the cast and crew congratulated each other, but I couldn’t focus. My mind was still replaying the scene—his touch, his gaze, the way he made me feel like the only person in the room.
“Hey.”
I turned to find Jisung standing behind me, his expression a mix of nervousness and something else—something I couldn’t quite place.
“You were amazing,” he said, his voice low.
“Thanks,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. “You too.”
He ran a hand through his hair, looking away for a moment before meeting my eyes again. “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure,” I said, though my heart was pounding again.
“During the scene…” He hesitated, biting his lip. “Did you feel it too? Or was I just getting too caught up in the moment?”
I opened my mouth to respond, but no words came out. How could I possibly explain what I’d felt without sounding ridiculous?
“I felt it,” I finally admitted, my voice trembling.
His eyes softened, and he took a small step closer. “So what do we do about it?”
The question hung in the air between us, heavy with unspoken possibilities.
“I… I don’t know,” I said honestly.
Jisung smiled, his expression warm and earnest. “Maybe we figure it out together?”
Before I could respond, someone called for him, breaking the moment. He gave me one last look, his eyes lingering on mine, before disappearing into the crowd.
As I stood there, my heart still racing, I realized one thing: whatever had started between us tonight wasn’t just about the show. It was something real, something I wasn’t ready to let go of.

7. the one with a challenge
a/n: I've been fighting with tumblr for TWO DAMN DAYS to post it, so I really hope you enjoy

lyrics from: The Apparition & Jaws - Sleep Token

“No way.”
“Way.”
The face that Megumi makes rips a laugh from you. It was your classic evening meeting, but since the weather was tragic for the past few days, you’ve ditched the rooftop, settling in your room instead. Lying on your bed with a couple of snacks and a respectful distance between you, you’ve spent the last hour catching up. With how busy Megumi was in the past few weeks, your talks were usually short, and there were fewer of them. Somehow you only now told him about the DM from Zenin, but the amount of strength it took not to scream about it as soon as he stepped into your apartment? You deserve a medal.
“Maybe it’s some sort of ‘be kind to your lamest fan’ charity event. You know, like make a wish.” He says, and you flip him off.
“Maybe I’m just cool as fuck and someone finally appreciates that?” You counter.
“Nah, I’d bet on the charity.” Fushiguro laughs a little when you groan and shove a pillow towards him. For a moment you close your eyes and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, something you lacked in the past days. Working on a new collaboration, streaming, and maintaining your life at the same time was a bit tiring and mostly overwhelming. That’s why you appreciate the calm evening more than usual. You and Megumi talking about the events of this week, the room illuminated just by the fairy lights, music playing in the background from your PC… it’s nice and relaxing. Very much needed for probably both of you. Mr. Guitarist was close to being done with recording the songs for his job, so he stopped spending almost every waking hour of the day in the studio. You can clearly see that he’s tired, but when you commented on it, he shrugged and said it was more important for him to create something he’d be proud of than sleep for healthy 8 hours.
“What’s with the aggression?” Sudden question silences the thoughts in your head, but you keep your eyes closed still.
“What do you mean, aggression?”
“That’s the fourth time you hit me with a pillow. I got two kicks to my shins and a mean fist in the arm.” He counts all of your attacks, and you peer at him.
“I’ll never believe that this fist hurt you in the slightest. For someone who barely eats and locks himself in the studio, your biceps are crazy. But okay, I suppose I’m a bit more aggressive than usual.” Megumi looks shocked, although you’re not sure if that’s because of your aggression or how easily you’ve admitted it. “It’s been a busy week, and I have a bit too much energy. And I haven’t gotten my normal dose of annoying you and Yuji.”
“Damn, first of all, I still train even when I’m working, thank you very much. And second... I don’t even know how to comment on that. You should just punch Yuji, not someone who spends time with you, and bring snacks.” With that statement, he lies back, with his arms behind his head. It’s not weird that you looked at his flexed muscles and a sliver of abs revealed by his shirt rolling up, right? God, this man is fine. Does he have to be so fine?
“Yuji just whines when I do that, though. You flex. Easy choice.” You sigh and close your eyes again, pretending like it was just a normal thing. Yes, you both sometimes threw a flirty comment here and there, never directly referring to your night together, but it was a little different.
When you were on the rooftop, it gave you the freedom of saying shit in an open space. Here, in your room, you are almost painfully aware of how close he is lying. You can feel the heat from his body and smell his perfume. And you’d be lying if you said it wasn’t doing things to you. But Megumi is no better. You’ve noticed how he eyed you up after coming, taking in your shorts, simple t-shirt, and messy hair. Or how his eyes lingered on your face for a little longer than they should.
“So, you like what you see, huh?” He turns on his side, leaning his head on one hand, his elbow keeping him up. If your eyes were open, you would see how his own trace your body, ending their path on your lips. He just needs to lean forward a little… “That makes sense, I’m the hot neighbor after all.”
“Huh?” That brings you to open your eyes and look at him with shock. Only now do you realize that the snack barrier between you two did close to nothing, given how close his face is to yours. And you do not miss how his gaze moves from your lips, but after another second or two. It’s a dangerous game, but neither of you seemed to care.
“I’ve seen your stream. Well, a part of it. How did you put it? ‘I can’t say he’s bad-looking." You’re blushing at this point. You had no idea he watched any of it, especially since he saw how you answered a question about him.
“Don’t let it get to your head. I was just entertaining the chat.” He smirks, knowing very well that’s a lie, and leans a little closer. Your heart seems to be beating to the rhythm of the Fallen song that’s playing in the background, your eyes peeking at his lips on their own.
‘And I'm not here to be
The saviour you long for’
“Sure.” His voice goes down to a whisper. The seconds go by, and you seem to be frozen, both calculating how bad it would be to take the next step.
“Megumi…” You’re whispering too, hypnotized by how intense his gaze is. You want to tell him you shouldn’t. You really do. But the amount of time you’ve spent thinking about him, about his kisses and touch, keeps you from doing it. Would it really be that bad? Doing this one more time?
“Tell me you don’t want it.” There’s a hint of a challenge in how he says it. And since when are you one to hide from a challenge?
You’re the one to kiss him first this time. His reaction is immediate; the hand that was lying on the mattress cups your cheek as Megumi tastes your lips, and you need to hold back a moan. How much you’ve missed that feeling. His touch is gentle, yet reassuring, when he pulls you closer, deepening the kiss. He moves to hover over your body, holding his weight on one arm.
‘Show me those pretty white jaws
Show me where the delicate stops’
“Fuck. I’ve wanted to do that ever since you stepped on that damn roof.” Whispering, he lowers his lips down to your jaw and neck, and your hands now move to his sides and back.
“You should’ve.” You whisper back. You don’t need to see his face to know he has that irritating smirk on, you can feel it on your skin. His hands make their way under your shirt, and he pulls himself from kissing your neck to look in your eyes. “Just one more time?”
“One more time.”
‘Show me what wounds you've got
Show me love’

Touch: Part 4
Summary: Din shows you what special thing he's been wanting to do with you.
Rating: Explicit
Warnings/tags: SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT. THE MANDALORIAN & THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT. eventual angst, slow burn, graphic depictions of wounds and violence, eventual non-con, eventual therapy speak, Grogu, Mando takes off his helmet, so much shit happens in this story.
chapter warnings: object insertion (v&a), graphic depictions of blood and guts (not sexual), and some fluff at the end.
a/n: This was very much inspired by the legendary Rough Day. It's such an incredible story and so well written. Don't have as high hopes for this, it's mostly just me being horny for Din Djarin.
a/n pt2: So, hello-- it's me, Beth. I have a couple things to say- This is when the reader and The Mandalorian's story starts. Before this chapter, the first three had been one-shots written with no intention of turning it into a story. But I did, so.... here it is. I hope you all like it.
unbeta'd, probably not proof-read because of my ADHD. still unbeta'ed, not as poorly proofread and changed slightly from ao3.
SORRY EVERYBODY ELSE

"That cannot be safe."
You are staring where you think Din is standing with your mouth hanging open, jaw almost touching your chest. He has just gotten done explaining to you what he wants to do to you.
His Maker forsaken helmet is back on now and the lights are still off.
He needs to see what he’s doing for this.
“It will be safe, I promise.” He chuckles quietly, as if that is supposed to be reassuring in a moment of vulnerability like this. “Are you ever not safe with me?” He asks that last part like his helmet might have a special mood sensor in there that tells him exactly what you're feeling.
You’re hesitant because this was unusual, even for Din.
"This could potentially be the first time," you chuckle nervously as you press your cheek to the cool metal.
If you're being honest— with Maker and yourself… what Din wants to do to you is making your apex tingle again.
Despite the nerves flowing through ever fiber of your body, you're sinking to your knees in the void. The moment your chest touches the floor of the Razor Crest for the second time tonight, you're actually thankful for the darkness. Doing something like this feels far less naughty in the dark.
"I don't want to get vaporized."
"Little one," Din runs one of his hands— which is always as hot as the sun, always— up the line of your spine slowly to comfort you. "I won't let anything bad happen to you," he rasps from behind his helmet. "I took the charge out already, besides… that happens on the other end."
The Amban rifle is long, about as long as you are tall. The non-business end is where the shoulder crook is. It’s shaped in a dramatic arch. One end is slightly longer than the other. Both ends of the arch are dull and rounded. Perfect for your shoulder to rest in when you aim.
It’s smooth and cold as Din traces it along your folds.
It surprisingly fits perfectly there as well.
"Looks so tight," his rasp is quiet, almost like he's ashamed to admit it. The tip of one of the horns is pushing against your entrance now, sliding in further and further— so slowly. "Need to see you filled."
His words make you shiver. It was clear that Din thought about you while he wasn't here… he had taken your notebook so that he could think about you all he wanted. You just never really thought about what he been imagining while looking at the pictures you had drawn of yourself in that notebook.
“It feels good?” Even through the modulator, you can hear his excitement— but it's intermingled with concern for your comfort, and that makes you melt against the hard metal of the ships floor.
You let Din know it does feel good with a content hum as he pushes the Abman's horn further into you.
It's been so long since anything has been inside you besides your own fingers and very, very recently Din's thick, long, ten billion degree digits. So long in fact, you almost forgot how delicious the stretch of something inside you feels.
You sigh happily again as the smooth, polished wood slides further into your soaked entrance. “It does feel good.” A moan as it glides against that utterly sweet spot inside you. “So good.”
Din respires loudly as he watches the second horn of the Amban inch closer to your untouched hole. "You stretch so nicely, little one," he murmurs from under his helmet.
Sweat starts to bead across your brow as Din starts to work the first horn in and out of your wetness at the absolute perfect pace. It's not to slow, not to fast— he's allowing you to adjust while still giving you friction. To you, right now on the floor, the thrusts feel tender and sweet.
Loving, almost.
Your hips instinctively start to rock back to meet his thrusts, needing more, wanting it deeper inside of you, but that's when the second horn notches at your second hole. It hasn't penetrated you yet, but the pressure of it at your opening has you feeling rather intimidated.
Din pulls the Amban away from you. There is a moment of pause, nothing happens, and then you feel his tongue massaging against your tightest hole.
"Oh my Maker," you sigh loudly as he pushes past the ring of muscle to open and loosen you up for what he wants to see so badly.
"…would do this forever…" he murmurs from between your supple cheeks. The vibrations from his voice make you shiver and you have to bite back a smile at the sound of him unmodulated.
You wonder where the helmet is— did he take it completely off or is he just wearing it on the crown of his skull?
It doesn't really matter, you don't even really care as he pushes his tongue back inside of you. His breathless panting as he pushes two fingers into your cunt simultaneously and makes you arch your back down towards the floor, pushing your ass back against him.
"So good. S-so good," he pumps his fingers in and out of you a few times before he pulls away and loudly spits against your now loosened hole.
"Maker," you sigh at the obscene noise and the withdrawing of his fingers.
Din replaces the horns of the shoulder crook and slowly begins to work the first one in and out as the second tip taps your now other wet and ready hole. Slowly, he starts to push forward and you whimper at this new stretch. A different kind of feeling, it feels ludicrous. Out of place.
“Din…”
The word escapes your lips, and your fists clench in response. Through gritted teeth, you utter one long Maker as he removes the Amban from your body and rests a comforting hand on your back.
“It hurts? Are you okay?” He’s concerned. Sounding almost apologetic.
“No. It doesn’t hurt. It’s just different, go slower.” You don’t want to stop. It did feel good.
“Touch yourself while I do this.” His modulated whispers into your ear make you push back against the Amban again and it presses against your asshole again. “Touch...like the first night, please. I want to see it.”
The fact that Din remembers, and thinks about that first night the way you do… it makes your heart start to beat faster against the floor of the ship.
“Okay.” You breathe, one hand reaching for your clit. Your fingers find it and desperately start to circle and swirl around the wet mess between your legs.
“Yes. Just like that, little one.” Din trails one finger down your spine gently, watching as you begin to play with yourself. “Fuck. You’re always so ready… and wet…” He admires you while his thrusts forward with Amban a little more aggressively now.
“You want to make yourself come while I put it in?” He whispers, dragging of his fingers back up your spine.
You nod silently.
“Was that a yes?” He’s wanting to hear you say it.
“Yes, Din, please…” You’re whining quietly as your fingers cease to stop touching your aching clit.
With more force behind his movements as his traveling hand grips one of your ass cheeks and pulls you apart so he can watch. The second horn presses against your tight hole with each thrust, he’s careful not to enter until you’re ready.
“You take it so well....” It’s a modulated whisper. "So wet--"
“Only for you,” sigh happily, feeling silly for saying it but in the moment, you don't what he thinks.
It’s true. You’ve never gotten this excited for anyone else.
Din gasps softly, you almost don’t hear it over the sounds of your fingers in your slick and the horn pushing into you over and over. “S-Say that again, p-please…”
“Only for you, Din…” You murmur with your eyes closed. Your touching had been getting you ready, your fingers had been spinning around your clit quickly— release was so close.
The thick wood horn inside you plus your fingers on your throbbing clit, and now this new sensation pressed against a new hole that’s never been explored before tonight, are all coiling something deep inside your lower belly.
“Gonna…gonna come…” You strain the whimpers out, your body trembling right on the precipice of bliss.
Din presses his groin against the outside of your thigh and begins to move in a steady rhythm. You feel him pushing harder and faster, rubbing against you as he picks up speed.
"Oh! Oh!” You cry out, pushing your hips back as the coil inside of you snaps. “Diiiin!”
He pushes the Amban forward gently and you feel it enter you from behind. It’s a fiery pain, dulled tremendously by the bliss coming from between your legs, but it’s still pain.
A sharp intake of breath through your teeth is quickly followed by a pleasurable tightening of your inner walls around the smooth wooden horn inside. The feeling draws another loud moan from you.
Din continues to push and pull the shoulder crook in and out of you while you ride out your orgasm. You’re shoving your self back against the Amban now, wanting more, needing it deeper in your cunt while you come on it. The horn in your tighter hole stretches you wider, a new sensation, not pain or pleasure but a feeling of being completely full. You shudder on the floor of The Crest.
“You’re s-so good,” Din sounds like he’s in awe once again. You amaze him. “Did you like that?” He asks, his modulator voice is gone and now he’s kissing your spine. When he removes the Amban from inside you, you whine at the empty feeling. The gaping feeling.
“Yes.” You pant on the floor. “So good, Din… So good.” You collapse, body fully going flat against the floor.
Din lays down beside you and wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you against him tightly.
There is a moment of silence while he listens to you catch your breath while one of his strong, calloused fingers circle around your belly button slowly.
“I just remembered how you clean.” He whispers into your ear. “We should get off the floor.”
For a moment you’re offended, but then you remember how well you cleaned before he started touching you and you chuckle.
“I did better this time,” your hand hesitantly finds his on your stomach. He stretches his fingers wide so you can slide yours between them. “Didn’t you notice how shiny it was?”
“I didn’t notice anything besides how you looked in your beautiful dress,” he murmurs, planting gentle kisses the back of your neck.
There is only one word you have in your vocabulary to describe how you need him to kiss you: desperately. You need to feel his lips on yours, need to feel his tongue swirling against your own. You might want that more than anything else he could offer you- but you won’t tell him that.
“We should get to bed.” You whisper to him instead.
Din doesn’t say anything for a moment, he just holds you close to him with the bridge of his nose against the back of your skull. Finally, and reluctantly, he lets you go but not for long. He’s on his feet before you can even sit up, and he’s got his hands under your arms, lifting you off the ground.
You’re suspended in midair for one second before he gently sets you back down on your feet.
“Do you need help walking?” He asks as you hold your hands out in front of you, feeling for obstacles in the dark.
“Do you not need help?” You’re snippy, stalled in the dark waiting for his response.
He’s quiet for a long time. When he does speak, it startles you. “It’s my ship…” He sounds offended that you’d even ask him such a question.
“Fine…” You grumble as he slips his hand into yours and takes the lead.
“Here’s the ladder…” he places your hand on one of the rungs and then stands behind you. “Go on, little one. I won’t let you fall,” he whispers into your ear as you hesitate to start climbing.
There is no need to do any of this in the dark when Din isn’t here. You keep all the lights on until you’re in bed and then you make it dark. You’ve never had to climb the ladder in the void.
Surprisingly enough, you make it up to the second level with no issues. Din follows close behind and once he’s beside you, his hand is in yours again, leading you to the sleeping quarters.
You’re not shocked when he puts you into his bed and crawls behind you.
“What happens in the morning? Hm?” You whisper curiously, turning around to face him. “Because I almost broke my nose last time… I’m not doing that again.”
Din chuckles, slipping one hand under your cheek, the other slides to your waist, his lips touch your chin softly. “I’m always up before you.” Then he presses his lips to yours, just as lightly.
Din’s lips are soft and warm— perfect. He’s perfect. He smells faintly of oil from the engine and sweat from being stuck under his helmet all the time.
To you, right now, he smells like what a home would feel like.
“Close your pretty eyes, and let me worry, okay?” He asks with his lips still pressed against yours. He kisses you again quickly before you can really react, and then rolls onto his side. Your chest is pressed against his back and he grabs one of your wrists to drape it over his side, then holds your hand to his stomach.
How are you supposed to sleep after that?
What?!
That was your first since long before you even got on this ship! It’s been so long since you shared a kiss with anyone. Ages it felt like!
Your first kiss with Din— and he does it twice and then just rolls over ? Din did this on purpose. You’re sure of it.
The child is what you wake up to— his little green face right in yours.
You’re still in Din’s bed, and the child is touching your lips, pushing them apart with his little clawed fingers so he can get a good look at your teeth. You let him and wonder what he’s looking for.
Then you wonder how the hell he got into the bed with you but as your head turns to inspect your surroundings, Din is standing— fully dressed in his beskar, staring down at you.
“He was fussing.” It’s said flatly. “I’m surprised you didn’t hear him.” He’s turning to walk away.
“I had a long night!” You call out to him as he leaves the room.
The child is full of energy. He wants to play. Right now.
But you’re naked under these sheets.
You set the child on the floor and wrap yourself up in the sheets and tuck them under your arms.
The clothes you bought yesterday aren’t where you put them when you got back from the market… and then you remember the fashion show you put on for him last night. The smirk on your face is hard to hide as you make your way into the lower level of the ship.
Once you’re down there, you turn the corner and find Din with your white dress in his hands. He’s massaging the fabric between his gloved thumb and forefinger carefully as if he can feel it through the yellow leather. He’s just staring down into the mess of crumbled, white linen in his grasp.
“I don’t know if I wanna know— I don’t think I do— but can I have those back, please?” You extend your arm for the clothing he’s holding. He turns to look at you.
“Last night…” Din walks to you slowly. “You were so beautiful in this,” he holds the dress out to you as he continues to speak. “I could look at you all the time.” He’s in front of you now, looking down at you with the dress in his hands. “Clothes. No clothes.”
“The kids awake,” you smirk up at him as you take the dress out of his hands. “Get your helmet on straight.”
“I have to leave,” He says as you're turning to walk away. “Tonight.”
“For how long?” You ask, chasing him down the hallway towards the ladder that leads up to the first floor.
“I’m unsure… possibly a couple days… maybe longer. A week—”
That’s the longest he’s been gone since you’ve been here. You turn your head over your shoulder. “A week!?”
Suddenly, Din’s sweet kisses from last night don’t seem so very sweet anymore. The feel dirty and almost like a ploy to keep you from complaining about this.
His helmet nods silently.
“Is where we’re going nice?” You ask curiously. If it is nice… then you might not care. You see him shake his head and groan in frustration. “Why!? Why do you cart the child and I around out here instead of finding us a plac-”
Din presses a gloved finger to your lips to quiet you.
“So I can keep both of you safe. You’re not safe with so many planets and stars between us.” He explains gently, trying to not upset you further. “I want you close by.”
Even though your heart is bursting in your chest because Din wants to keep you safe, wants you close— something about him choosing to kiss you last night, knowing he was leaving for so long today makes you angry. You say nothing in response to him.
“I know you’re upset. I’m sorry.” Din apologizes.
“It’s just part of the job description.” You say coldly, turning your head to the side so you don’t have to stare back at your reflection in his helemt.
It’s hard to not be upset after the night you just shared together, the touching, the kisses, the sleeping in his bed with him all night? How could you not feel some sort of emotion after that?
Din grips your chin in his thumb and forefinger, turning your head to look at him. “You want more money? For the job ?” With his free hand, he reaches behind his cape and pulls a fistful of credits out and pushes them into your chest forcefully. “Take them then,” he hisses through the modulator. Din pushes your chin as he pulls his hand away, and then he turns to leave. The credits scatter to the floor before you have time to catch them.
The child hears them falling noisily, and comes running to start grabbing them so he can begin putting them into his mouth.
“No, no, no, no, no, no...” You whimper through the tears pricking at your eyes, trying to get all the credits back from him. You have to stick your whole hand in his mouth to get the last one back.
With all the credits in your hands and tears in your eyes, you throw them into the hallway Din just walked down. They scatter across the floor as you scoop the child up in your arms and make your way to the second level.
Once you’re in the sleeping quarters again and the child is preoccupied with one of his new toys, you allow yourself to come undone.
Din went from calling you beautiful one moment and then next, he’s shoving credits at you like you get paid to get fucked and then treated badly. What did you do to deserve that?
Tears start to roll down your cheeks, and the child freezes seeing you in distress. He’s never seen you cry. Not one time. He watches you, his head tilting side to side slowly as you press the heels of your hands into your eyes.
He makes a quiet cooing noise at you but you don’t look. You can’t. There are too many tears and you feel so embarrassed for being so enamored with Din lately. He’s your boss. That’s it.
This was never going to happen again. You’ll sleep on the mat forever and never even look at his bed again. You might even move to a different part of the ship. You and the child.
You feel little hands on your leg and you finally look. The child is standing beside you, his big eyes are wide and he looks concerned for you, his little fingers are gripping your leg softly.
The child makes you cry harder, because what if Din kicks you off after this?
What if he tells you that this isn’t working and you need to go back to the casino? You’d be devastated. This child is your world now. Din had slowly started to become a part of your everything— but not anymore!
Fuck Din!
As you change into fresh clothes and wipe away the stubborn tears that refuse to stop, you carefully make the bed with clean sheets. You tidy up the ship and wash any dishes or toys that need it. The baby watches you with concern as you move around the room, struggling to control your emotions. He sticks close to you as you pace back and forth, trying to find something - anything - to occupy your mind. All of your sewing supplies are in the same room as Din, but you can't bring yourself to go there right now.
You break out your notebook and lay on the floor with the child. You give him a page and your old charcoal. You show him how to doodle. You draw him. He sees it and points to himself. You nod and clap for him. Then you draw yourself. He points to the picture of you and then touches your nose. It makes you cry again.
All day.
You’re in that room all day spontaneously crying, when finally, the door opens and Din walks past the two of you with no acknowledgement. You stand up, grabbing the child and leave into the room he just walked out of.
You two sit on the floor again and you show him how you sew. You hold up the almost finished robe to him, seeing if it’ll fit.
“You’re gonna be the most well dressed green baby on the ship.” You tell him. He coos and warbles up to you, his fingers touching the fabric of his new robe. “Do you like it?” You ask but he doesn’t respond as usual. He’s a baby.
“We should talk,” Din’s modulated voice makes you jump. He’s standing in the doorway watching you two.
“‘Kay.” You say curtly, going back to your sewing. You don’t look at him.
“You’re upset?” He asks softly.
You turn your head and blink at him in disbelief.
“I already gave you more cre-” He starts to say, but sees you’re trying to hold back tears.
“I don’t want your money.” The words come out quickly before you can cry. You strain back the sob forming in your throat. “I don’t want more.” You have to look away, you don’t want him to see you cry. “Just leave me alone, please.”
The child touches your arm comfortingly and warbles quietly at you.
“If you’re so unhappy here, I can take you back to Canto Bight.” Din sounds so angry when he speaks from behind the modulator.
All you can do is sob loudly. It’s the only sound coming out of you.
Din is quiet for so long listening to you cry. When he speaks again, his tone is softer and quieter. More kind than before. “Are you unhappy here?”
“No. I love it here,” you weep softly. You do love it here. You blink and tears roll down your cheek again. You attempt to turn your body away from Din but he’s beside you now, kneeling with his hand on your shoulder.
“I thought you did too…but you are crying,” he says nervously. “Happy girls don’t cry…why are you crying? Please tell me.”
“You were s-s-s-so mean about th-the credits,” you wail. “I didn’t a-ask for m-more c-credits.” You cannot stop crying no matter how hard you try. “I d-don’t want you t-t-to take m-me back to Can-Canto B-bi-” You can’t even speak it, it makes you cry too hard.
“You think I’m going to take you back there?” He tries to turn you to face him but you turn the other way, further away from him. “I thought you were unhappy. I didn’t think you wanted this anymore. I don’t blame you. I worry about you too much and I don’t let you leave because of it. I’m not always nice.”
“But I care for you! And the child so much!” You wail. You scoop the child who is trying to crawl into your lap in your arms and hold him close to your chest. “I love him so much and I can’t be away from him.” You sob harder. “He’s all I’ve got now and if you take him from me it’ll kill me.” The child wraps his little arms around your neck as much as he can. Coos and baby warbles fill your ear.
“I wasn’t-” Din is desperately trying to turn you now, both hands are on your shoulders and he’s spinning you on the smooth surface of the Crest’s floor. “-look at me.” He says it sternly enough that you listen and look up at him with bloodshot eyes and tear stained cheeks. “I don’t want to take you back to Canto Bight. I don’t. You didn’t see the child when you were at the market. He missed you. Cried for you.”
“You said he had fun!” You wail again. “He cried?” You hold the child closer.
Din chuckles.
“I wasn’t telling you that you have to leave.” He explains after a moment of silence. “Do you still want to stay? Knowing what happens, knowing that I leave. I have to. Do you still want to be here?”
You stare up at him for a long time. You do. You’re still sad though. At a loss for words.
“You were so cold to me. Then you called it ‘part of the job description’ so I assumed you wanted more credits. More compensation for what you do. I got mad because I thou-” He cuts himself off.
“You thought what?” You ask nervously. He stays quiet.
“It’s nothing. I thought you wanted more. I tried to give you what I thought you wanted.” He sighs and takes his hands from your shoulders. You can feel where the heat from his gloved hands held you.
“What were you going to say?” Your eyes haven’t left his helmet.
“I have to go now. When I get back we will talk more. Okay?”
You almost start crying again but he pinches the tip of one gloved finger between his opposite index and thumb and pulls his hand free. He reaches for you with it and wipes the tears off one of your cheeks with his thumb before cupping your face in his palm
“Perfect, beautiful little one.” He rasps softly. “So perfect.” He rubs his thumb along your cheek and wipes the new falling tears. “Don’t cry. Please. Don’t cry. I’ll be back soon and we will talk about this.” You nod quickly.
“Okay.” You sniffle softly, trying to calm the fear and sadness inside you. ‘Okay.”
Din rests the top of his visor to your forehead softly.
“Try and find forgiveness in your heart, for me. Please.” He keeps you there, pressed against his helmet as he speaks to you. “I’ll be thinking of you. Looking at your doodles . Waiting to see you again.”
Then he pulls away and stands.
“Are you staying on the floor with the child or do you need assistance getting up?” He asks, extending a hand out to you. You shake your head at him.
“I’m gonna finish this.” You hold up the almost finished robe with one hand, the other arm is still cradling the child to your chest. He’s resting his head on your shoulder.
“I’ll be back. Stay safe. I’ll set up the perimeter when I leave. Do not go outside of it. Please.” He rattles off his ‘Din is leaving’ list to you. You hear it every time he goes.
“You be safe. Come back in one piece.” You smile up at him softly. Din looks down at you for a long time before he speaks again.
“Perfect. Beautiful.”
Din does not come back in one piece. Well, all together yes, but he’s hanging on by threads.
In the dead of night, you are jolted awake by the sound of the ship's door opening. It has been ten days since he left, and you've been unable to sleep properly ever since. As you strain your ears, you can hear his boots hitting the ramp with uneven steps, like he's struggling to stay upright.
Jumping out of bed, not needing to turn any lights on because you can hear him banging around in the adjacent room.
“Din.” You whisper into the darkness of the entryway. “Din, is that you?” You search for the light button on the wall desperately trying to see something. Finally, you find the small button and press it.
You see Din facing the metal hull of the ship, leaning against it with his arms curled up over his helmet which is pressed tightly to the wall of the Crest. He’s supporting all of his weight on one leg. The other foot hovers inches above the ground.
He’s hurt.
Time feels like it stops as you rush to him. In the short amount of time it takes you to get to him, you manage to stumble over your own feet twice. When you reach him, you put one hand on his shoulder and he flinches under your touch.
“Where?” You ask nervously.
You’ve never seen him like this before. He’s been injured before, sure…but never like this. Never to the point where he can’t speak to you. He points to his leg, inner thigh and you kneel before him, inspecting. It’s a burn or a cut or both, you don’t know. Some of it’s been cauterized already, other parts of it are still bleeding badly. It looks so deep.
“What do I need to do? Tell me?”
Everything about you feels like a Mimbanese mudslide. It feels like all the hard parts that keep you upright have been stolen from you. Din says nothing as you kneel in front of him helplessly. You can hear small, stifled groans of pain coming from his helmet.
“I don’t know how to help you.” You whisper powerlessly. It’s like time has stopped and the world fell silent around just the two of you. “Tell me what to do.” You beg him.
“Shh. Please just be quiet.” He snaps at you in frustration. He’s still got his helmet leaned against the wall.
Instead of being upset you stand, and run to get clean water and a rag. You check to make sure the child is still asleep in his bassinet. When you return he’s sitting on the bench. He’s got his beskar off and he’s leaned against the hull of the ship, still groaning through his modulator.
“It’s going to hurt and I’m so sorry.” You warn him, taking the clean wet rag and ringing it out into the bowl of water. “Okay? Are you ready?” He isn’t watching, he’s looking up to the ceiling, choking back sobs of pain.
“Go.” Din chokes out. You move the rag closer to his wound and his hand finds your wrist. He grabs you tightly as you hover over the bleeding mess. “S-so g–gentle. P-please.” They came out sobbed and choked on soft whispers.
With the most feather and gentle touch you can, you start to clean it, and once the rag is covered in blood you realize you don’t have another bowl of water to rinse in.
“I’ll be right bac--” You start but Din grips your wrist tighter to the point where it starts to hurt. “I need more water.” You explain quickly, not upset he’s holding you tightly. “I’m coming right back. I promise.” His fingers loosen on you. “I promise.”
With more speed you’ve ever used in your life you grab another bowl and more water and rush back to him. He hasn’t moved. His good leg is shaking, like he’s shivering.
“I’m back. See?” You look up at him and rinse the rag in the new bowl and watch all the dirt and blood and muck float and twirl in the water. “I came right back. Just like I said, I’m here.” You try and comfort him as you go back to cleaning him carefully. “I’m right here. Just breathe and think about us and those nights. It’ll be okay.”
Desperate to help him find some comfort in this you start rattling off whatever nice things come to your head. Nervously babbling because you can’t hold it in. “I’ve been waiting for you to come back so we can share the bed again, and I’ll hold you like I did before you left.” You're fighting back tears of fear and frustration and worry for Din. You fight them back though because this isn’t the time for tears.
Of course, he says nothing. He’s probably worried about biting right through his tongue with the grunts and groans he’s making under that helmet.
You continue to clean him up until you can start to see things that make your stomach turn inside you. Inside of his muscle and fatty tissue. Blood starts reappearing as you pat it away. You grow more fearful and nervous.
“You need something to bandage this, where is it?” Din doesn’t answer before you’re looking around. Din points to the opposite wall and you see a small box strapped to the wall. You run to it, rip the straps from around the sides, you stumble again as you turn around and almost fall as you rush back to him.
Everything about cleaning him and even being near him had to be so slow and so careful that when you weren’t near him you tried to make up for lost time, sometimes moving too fast for your own good. You slide a couple inches as you kneel before you even stop moving. You drop the box on the floor and your nervous fingers fumble with the snaps on the front.
“Fuckin– c’mon, open!” You can’t get one of the snaps undone. A hidden sharp edge slices your index finger full across the length of the pad from under the rim. “Fuck!” You exclaim, looking and seeing blood pooling on your own finger now. You wipe it off on your pants and more carefully now try the stuck snap. It opens fine with your newfound care. “Fuck you.” You whisper again to the box, your finger hurts, it’s still bleeding.
“Abyssin grafting patch.” Din hisses through clenched teeth.
Looking for what he’s talking about you find it, and set it on the bench beside him.
“You need to take off your pants or I can cut them.” You explain, seeing that you won't be able to get the patch on without taking off his pants. The fabric was sliced through with something so hot that it melted some of the fabric to his skin.
“Cut.” He groans, letting his helmet hit the hull with a loud clunk. You find the medical scissors and carefully peel the melted fabric away from his skin. He hisses loudly and you slow down as much as you can. You try to breathe. You let the scissors do most of the work, they’re sharp and let you cut down Din’s pant leg so you can open the fabric and get more access to him.
“Okay. I’m gonna put it on now.” You walk him through what you’re doing as you rip open the patch from its wrapper. “You ready?” He’s still not looking down at you but he nods.
You tenderly press the patch against his leg and watch as it fuses itself to him. You sigh with relief. He’s safe. He’s here. You fall back onto your buttocks and let your legs stretch out in front of you.
“You’re bleeding.” Din sighs when he finally takes his head away from the wall. “Why’re you bleeding?” He’s panting, pointing now to your finger. You look and there is a small circle of blood on the floor where your finger is resting.
“I cut myself on the stupid fucking box.” You grumble, reaching for it. You grab a wipe and a small bandage. You clean yourself up and root around for what else could be in there. “Do you want the pills or the gas?” You ask, holding up a small bottle filled with capsules and a container with a mouth and nose mask attached to it.
“Do you need either?” He asks seriously. You look at him with confusion.
“I don’t do drugs, Din, what are you talking about?”
“Your finger.” He points again. He’s gotta be delirious.
“It’s just a cut, I’m fine. You’re missing some of your– the gas. You need the gas.” You decide for him. You put the canister under your arm and stand. “Can you walk?” He nods and goes to stand. You put one of his arms around your neck and shoulders, letting him put some of his weight on you.
The two of you slowly make your way into the sleeping quarters. He’s part limping, part hopping on one foot.
“What happened?” You whisper now within earshot of the child who surprisingly didn’t wake up for any of that. You don’t know what you would have done had the child awoken while you were panicking.
“Fight.” He groaned quietly as he sat down on the edge of the bed. You hand him the canister.
“I’m going to sleep in the other room tonight with the child.” He tilts his helmet up to you and starts to shake his head. “Yes. We are. You need to rest and you’re going to be knocked out with the gas. I don’t want to take any risks of you not waking up before me.” You lean forward and press your forehead to the top of his face visor. Din wraps one hand around the back of your neck.
“I missed you.” He rasps softly. You close your eyes and keep your forehead pressed to his helmet.
“I missed you too. So much.” He brings the other hand to your cheek and holds you to him.
“I should sleep-” He pulls away from you and tries to stand. “-in the other room.” You put both hands on his shoulders and gently force him to sit back down.
“You are not moving. Please. Use the gas and sleep. You can sleep in the other room tomorrow night, okay?” You tease him gently.
“You’ll stay here tomorrow?” He asks, tilting his head to the side again. You nod.
“Yes, I’ve been waiting for it.” You smile down at him. “But tonight you need to sleep. As long as you can. No worry of anyone seeing you. We’ll be okay,” You motion towards the baby's bassinet. “I’ll see you whenever you decide to wake up. Okay?”
He nods up at you. You press your forehead to his helmet again and sigh.
“Glad you’re back.” You whisper before you turn and push the baby’s bassinet into the other room. You have to come back in and grab your blankets and mat. He watches you, as you walk back and forth.
As you pass him to leave the room for the last time he reaches for you and his fingers graze your wrist. You stop and look down at him.
“Perfect. Beautiful.” He rasps quietly.
You smile at him, taking his hand in yours. You bring his fingers to your lips and kiss each one gently.
“Sleep.” You whisper to him again.
Then you leave because he does need his rest. It kills you to leave the room and shut the door because you so badly want to run back to him and hold him while he sleeps and keep him safe but you know you can’t. You know you don’t have the willpower to not look if given the opportunity. Especially if he were to never know. You’re ashamed of it, but you know it to be true.
Din doesn’t leave the bed for the next two days. You wait on him hand and foot, happily. Bringing him any and everything he could ask for. Laying with him when he wanted, you and the child both. You actually cooked for him. Really cooked. And didn’t even burn yourself.
That night after the child had been put to sleep, with just the dim overhead light above his bed, you lay next to him and planted well placed kisses across his strong chest. He’s mostly smooth with just the smallest dark hairs speckled around his nipples and across his chest. The hair mostly rests in a faint line from his belly button down to below the waistband of his pants.
“I think about you all the time.” You whisper between kisses. “You’re on my mind all day long. You’re in my dreams at night.” His arm is behind you, his fingers rubbing up and down on your back.
“Really?” He asks, tilting his helmet to the side. You nod at him and lay your head on his stomach gently. “Good things I hope?” He rests the flat of his palm on you. Feeling his warmth, you sigh and nod again.
“Very good things.” You smile.
In moments like this, you hate the helmet. You hate it so much.
There are other times that you forget he can take it off; when you talk normally or argue but in moments like this, where you speak so gently to each other and the things each of you say sound like things out of a love story read to you as a child of princesses and princes’.
“I’m sorry if I scared you that night.” He whispers, his fingers press into softly. “I didn’t mean to. I would have done it myself. I always do.” His hand goes back to moving up and down on your skin. You listen. “You did a good job though. Really, I’ll have to pay you more credits now.” He tickles along your side gently and you frown. “ Nurses get paid more.” He teases you.
Giggles escape your mouth as he starts to tickle the frown off your face.
“Stop, stop. The kid," you whisper, sitting up from his stomach.
“Beautiful.” He says softly, moving his hand to your cheek, his thumb rubs across your lips gently. You kiss it with each pass of his thumb. “Perfect.”
“Why do you say those things?” You roll your eyes at him. “I’m not perfect.” It’s said with a hint of sadness, because you know you’ve been having terrible wishes of him losing his helmet or forgetting it and you just seeing him because you have to know. You pang with guilt every time you look at it lately.
Din doesn’t say anything for a long time. He just rubs his thumb across your lips slowly, sometimes pulling your bottom lip down gently and he lets it pop up back against your top lip. You're hypnotized by it. You lean in against his hand.
“I think about kissing you every day.” He whispers to you. “I love your mouth. Your lips.”
Your head starts to buzz. Did you hear Din correctly when he just said he loved something about you?
Maker, you must be about to meet right now because this cannot be real. You’re snapped back from your buzzing thoughts when Din speaks again.
“Does it make you feel nice?” His hand falls from your face, and you almost fall over into him, not realizing how much you had been leaning into his hand. “When I call you those things?”
“Sometimes. Most times.” You whisper honestly. You don’t like lying to Din.
“Why not every time?” He asks gently, taking one of your hands in his.
“Because, I’m not. I don’t always want–” You think about how you want to say it, so it doesn’t come out wrong. “I sometimes am selfish with the thoughts I have about you.” He tilts his helmet to the side.
“You– Ther– I-I.” He has to clear his throat. “You know that th-” He sighs softly in frustration. “You’re the only one. No need to be selfish.” He laughs nervously.
In love. You thought it was infatuation but you love him. So damn much. Especially right now. Maybe you only love him right now, you didn’t know. You haven’t been in love before. You’ve definitely never felt this way. Not the feeling you feel right now in your heart. But it’s shadowed quickly by the fact that you’re still feeling guilty.
“That’s not what I meant.” You chuckle at him softly and squeeze his hand. “Sometimes what I want wouldn’t be good or nice to you.” You try to explain nicely in a way that doesn't sound like; take your helmet off. I don’t care what happens. I wanna see.
He tilts his head to the side again, still not understanding.
“You… want bad things to happen to me?” His modulated inflection makes you chuckle again.
“No,” You’re still chuckling, shaking your head. Then you stop. “Well, I don’t know. I don’t know if what I wish for would lead to bad things. Or cause you harm. I know it’d make you disappointed. ” You try and get him to remember the conversation about the helmet, right after he bought you a new notebook for taking your old one.
“Ohh.” He whispers to you, nodding in understanding.
Then it’s quiet. For so long, Maker, how is this man so quiet for so long?
“I know it’s not nice of me to wish and want those things. I can’t help it though. My mind and heart wonder. It’s never wishing those things upon you either. I just know they might be an effect of what I want. So technically, yes I do want bad things to happen to you.” You talk nervously. Trying to listen to something other than nothingness. You joke to try and lighten the mood. Nothing works. He stays quiet for so long.
It’s very aware you’ve made him feel something. You’re not sure what it is yet.
“You can’t be upset with me.” He says finally. His raspy voice scares you in the silence. You jump but he squeezes your hand. “Promise you won’t be upset?”
Unsure if you can actually make that promise, you nod your head at him and bite your bottom lip nervously.
“The child is more than just a child.” He starts. Your heart is racing for a new reason now. “It’s so difficult to explain… but I need to take him, and I need you to stay here.” You rip your hand from his and pull it into your lap.
“You’re taking him from me?” You whisper softly in shock. Din shakes his head quickly.
“I’m going to bring him back… eventual-” You hold your hand up.
“How long?” Your chin starts to tremble.
“I don’t know. I really don’t. And I’m sorry. If I knew you two were going to get attached like this I would have never asked you to do this.” He tries to explain.
“You’ve known this whole time that you were going to have to take him!?” It’s a strained whisper of disbelief. “Where are you taking him?”
“He has to learn the way of the Jedi. I’m taking him to Luke Skywalker.”
You gasp audibly.
“The Luke Skywalker?” You ask again in disbelief. You've heard stories about him since you were a child.
“Yes. He’s going to teach the child how to use the force, how to be stronger.” Din explains.
“I’m going. I don’t care what you say or if you have to try and tie me to the Crest. I don’t care. I’m going with you this time.”
Din sighs loudly.
“And I’m staying with him.”
“No. You cannot do that.” He tries to grab your hand again but you pull it away.
“Why not? Why can’t I stay? He’s a baby and he needs someone to care for him. Do you think Luke Skywalker is going to care for him the way I do? The way we do?” You’re still whispering but you are exasperatedly trying to prove your point. Your hand is now pointed at the baby’s bassinet. “Is Luke Skywalker going to make sure that all the bugs he eats don’t have stingers on them? Is he going to give him a bath every night before bed and change his robes and do all the things we do for him?”
You’re upset that you never asked what Din was doing out in the galaxy while you stayed cooped up in the ship. You always thought that he was just a bounty hunter with a green baby and now you find out that this green baby has always had a destination in mind that you didn’t know about? Your heart was breaking in your chest.
“You can come with me but you cannot stay.” He’s serious and it makes tears burn your eyes.
“Will you ever get him back? Will I ever see him again?” Something new comes into your head and you’re fighting back the urge to ask about it.
“I don’t know. It’s a possibility. I need to take him to Luke.”
“And then what?” You implore nervously.
“What do you mean?” Din asks, reaching for your hand again. You let him take it and hold it in his.
“What happens to me?” Tears roll down your cheeks. “Just don’t l-leave me b-back on Canto B-bight. P-please take me an-anywhere else.” You’re drawing in big gulps of air between each sobbed word. Din squeezes your hand tightly.
“I’m n– I’m not leaving you?” He doesn’t understand what you mean,
“Without the ch-child what g-good am I to you?” You sob softly.
“You hold a place in my heart. I care for you dearly. I’d still pay you to clean, now you know how to nurse me back to health.”
“I’d do it for free.” You whisper through quiet sniffles.
Din stays quiet for a long time.
“You want to stay with the child?” He ask, his hand cupping your face again.
Eyes have never moved so fast in history the way your eyes flick to Din.
“Is it an option?” You ask softly, leaning into his hand, the burning hot heat of him overtakes the rest of your face and you’re hot, but it’s so good. Because it’s his heat. Din’s body pressed against yours.
“If it’s what you desire. I’ll make it an option.” Din’s raspy modulated voice says quietly. “I’d do it for you.”
“Why? What were you going to say the other day before you left?”
Din presses his thumb to your lips gently, quieting you. “Yes or no?”
All you can do is nod.

Adam: Have you been here the whole the time?
Cain: No...... I couldn't stand my past living situation any longer.
Lucifer: What is that supposed to mean?
Cain glared at him: It means I couldn't live with your cunt of a wife any longer. She was awful to me.
Lucifer didn't know: What? I didn't-
Cain: Of course you didn't know!! You were never fucking home! She assaulted me with words more vile than snake poison!
Lucifer: If she was so awful why didn't you say something!?
He never would have let Lilith speak to his son like that if he knew. He would have put her in her place.
Adam: Okay that's enough both of you.
Satan: I'll make some tea, Cain could you help me?
Cain: Sure.
They left and Adam turned to Lucifer.
Adam: Explain.
Lucifer: When he first came to Hell I took him in, I tried my best I really did. He just up and left one day and didn't tell me why. I never would have let her speak to him like that if I knew.
Adam: I know. But he's hurt.
The First Anti-Christ
@things-arent-what-they-seem66
(excuse me for the long prologue)
Anti Christ, the child of the fallen one, the devil. Everyone knows of the name and what it means. However, they don’t know of WHO that child is do they? Everyone thinks that the child will make themselves known as they bring on the end of humanity. What people don’t realize is that the anti-Christ has already walked upon the Earth.
In fact he was the first to be born on the planet. You see he was one of the very first humans. The very first child and son of the mother of humanity, Adam the first omega. His name was Cain.
Now many must be wondering on how this came to be. Why did it happen. How and why did the first omega manage to give birth to the fallen one’s offspring. All will be explained here, in this story.
A long, long, long, time ago when the Earth was still young the creator of it had decided on what its final inhabitants would be. They were called humans, the very first of their kind. He made them into something special. With their names came their designations.
Lilith the first woman and alpha
Adam the first man and omega
He made the two to be companions, to watch over another as one would for a friend or as he hoped like siblings. However, his other creations had other plans. While the Lord was busy attending to his purpose of watching over the universe. The other creations, the angels went down to the humans and they told the two that they were more than just companions. They told them that they were mates and they would bring forth true humanity.
Both were confused and asked how? The angels told them that once a month Adam’s womb would welcome Lilith’s seed and instructed him for when the time came for Adam to lay on his back and to spread his legs for his mate. When they heard of this both were rather disgusted by it. They hadn’t known each other for long but they simply weren’t compatible in that way. They couldn’t even bother to be friends for they both had too many differences that often clashed with each other.
While Adam was energetic and outgoing, Lilith was reserved and careful. It would often cause arguments from the two, especially when it came to their duties. Their first duties, of naming and caring for everything in the garden. Lilith thought Adam to be immature. Adam thought Lilith to be demanding. Both seemed to think that nothing was ever good enough for each person. One thing they both could agree on is that they did not wish to be mates.
Still Adam did not wish to upset the angels and simply bowed his head and nodded submissively. They began to explain other sets of rules that both were to follow. Lilith as the alpha was to always provide and care for her omega. Adam as the omega was to always follow her way and submit to his alpha. Both were to bring children into this world.
Lilith would become the father of humanity. While Adam would become the mother of humanity.
Lilith, disgusted at the thought, disagreed wholeheartedly. She fled from the garden and away from the omega. Hoping to never set another foot in there again. She was found by someone, an angel of the Lord himself, whom she would soon call a friend and sometime after that a husband. Though she didn’t trust him at first she eventually told the angel of why she ran from paradise.
The angel was shocked and confused. Why would his siblings do that? Why would they mess with his Father’s creations that way? He wanted so badly to go up there and tell his Father of what they had done to Lilith. He knew that they would somehow find a way to pin the blame onto him.
That is why he came up with a new plan. To meet and talk to Lilith’s supposed mate. What he didn’t know at the time was that the omega was actually his true mate.
He crept into the garden, careful not to aware the elders of his presence. What awaited him in the garden was not what he expected. A true beauty, one that took his breath away. Though he had thought Lilith to be pretty. She was nothing compared to Adam.
His soft brown hair, honeyed eyes that sparkled, and tan skin that was splattered by freckles. His Lucious curves was enough to drive him insane. The angel managed to open his mouth and introduced himself. His name was Lucifer, the angel of light and God’s most favored son.

towards the end of your shift, Aaron had shown up at the club.
you’d pulled him aside and outback, away from prying eyes and the nosey guys that would always try and keep you to their selves.
but the look in his eyes told you that whatever had to say was serious, so you waited.
he gave you a ride home, and his whole demeanour was avoidant.
he stood in the doorway to your bedroom as you got changed, his eyes flicking from you and away again. a churning feeling in his gut as his eyes grey half lidded.
his suit blazer had long been discarded, yet his shirt still remained creasless— his expression remained just as guarded as it usually was, but tonight the usual walls between them seemed a little thinner.
you still had your heels on, the sound of them tapping against the hardwood floors mirroring the beat of your heart.
for the past few months now, Aaron had been trying to balance his world with yours.
he’d never been one for casual relationships, told you so when you first starting seeing each other—especially not with someone who’s life was so different to his, complicated in a sense.
yet somehow, you both had found each other amidst the chaos.
“do you think things would be different?”
his voice broke the silence, he hadn’t intended to speak aloud but the question had been sitting on his tongue for longer than he liked.
glancing over your shoulder towards him, eyes quickly searching his for an answer you weren’t sure you were ready to hear.
“how so?”
you asked, your tone measured but soft. you let your eyes pull away from him as you sat on the edge of the bed, finally peeling off your heels as he watched.
he pushed off the doorframe and walked towards you slowly, staying a foot or two away.
“i mean… if we hadn’t met at a strip club. if i hadn’t walked in that night, would we have still crossed paths?”
your fingers lingered on the intricacies of the heel, his words settling in as you placed the heel on the floor.
hands moving to work off the other one, and for a long moment you didn’t answer.
the truth was you’d thought about it too.
your life before Aaron had been a series of stripped down, fleeting encounters. and as some would say, unsurprising for a woman who worked as a stripper— only for what you could offer in a few minutes of attention.
but that night when he’d walked into the club with the rest of the team, it was different. there was something in the way his eyes lingered on you, not with judgment but instead curiosity.
it was the first time in years you’d been seen, really seen. for who you actually were beneath the surface.
and you hadn’t been able to shake it since.
“i don’t know”
you finally said, voice tinged with uncertainty as you set the other heel down by the first.
standing from the bed and moving through your dresser, pulling out clean pyjamas and setting them on top.
“maybe it would’ve been easier, you know? if we hadn’t met that way. but at the same time, i’m not sure i’d want that. maybe it’s the only way it was supposed to happen”
you shrugged, finally turning to face him again. and you couldn’t help the sigh that pulled from your chest at the sight of him.
he took another couple of steps closer, close enough for you to feel the warmth that always radiated off of him.
“i don’t want to regret it”
he said softly, not just to you but to himself too. his eyes met yours, and the softness behind them remained but it was mixed with something else.
you swallowed the lump in your throat, the rawness in his voice hitting you harder than you expected.
“you’re not regretting this, are you?”
his eyes searched yours again, for a long moment. the weight of his gaze felt heavy, like he was reading into every part of you and stringing together fragments of your past and present.
finally, he exhaled a breath and shook his head.
“no”
he told simply, but you sensed a ‘but’ coming.
“but sometimes i wonder if we’re just living in two different worlds”
you took a step back from him, your back hitting the dresser and knocking something sat on top of it.
the distance between you remained small, but it felt like a chasm.
you’d always known this wasn’t easy. ring with someone like Aaron, so tightly bound by duty and a life of danger and trauma—while you danced for men in dimly lit clubs for a living.
you loved your job, even if others told you that you shouldn’t. but you couldn’t help but notice the wedge it had driven between you and Aaron as of lately.
the silence between you grew heavier as you searched his eyes once more, the softness had dissipated and been replaced by something sadder.
“i love you,”
you whispered, voice almost breaking slightly on the words. the admission felt like it carried a weight of its own, something you’d been holding onto for far too long.
Aaron looked at you, but his expression hardened from its sadness seconds ago and the air seemed to crackle with a newfound tension.
“i don’t care anymore”
he said, his voice tight almost as if it physically hurt to speak the words.
you recoiled, a sharp sting of pain hitting your chest. you’d expected it, in a way.
there was no way this relationship—your life— could be simple, no matter how much you tried to make it work.
Aaron stepped back, his gaze never leaving yours and the hurt in his eyes was almost more painful than the words he’d spoken.
“i’m sorry. i just.. i can’t keep pretending that this is okay. that it’s sustainable”
that stung.
you couldn’t even pretend that it didn’t.
but you nodded slowly, trying to keep the tears from pooling in your eyes. you had known deep down, that this day would come. but that didn’t make it easier.
the man you loved, the one who had seen you beyond the stripping and the shadows, was telling you that it was time to let go.
“i get it”
you whispered, your voice barely audible but the words felt final.
“maybe this was just a chapter that ended too soon”
for a long moment the room was filled with nothing but the soft sound of your breathing, the tension so thick it could be cut through with a pair of scissors.
finally, Aaron moved closer to you again. his large hand cradled your face, and despite the urge to pull away you let him. his thumb soothed across your cheek as he mumbled out to you.
“i never wanted to hurt you, but sometimes i think loves just not enough”
your throat tightened and though you fought to keep yourself composed, your emotions broke free in the form of a single tear that escaped down your cheek.
you wiped it away quickly, refusing to let him see how much it for at you.
“i know”
you whispered softly, voice barely audible.
“but it doesn’t change how i feel”
Aaron sighed, pulling you into his chest. his hand that held your face now lay on the back of your head as it lay against his chest, the steady thrum of his heartbeat grounding you despite everything.
even though everything inside you screamed to stay, to fight for this love that you both knew had no clear future.
in the end, some love stories were written with a beginning and an end that no one could control, no matter how hard you tried to keep the pages from turning.
and it ate you up inside.
but now, as he held you—all the pain and tears disappeared, if only for a moment. until he left, you still had him but once he did leave you knew all the pain would come rushing back all at once.

𝚈𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝙱𝚘𝚍𝚢 𝚒𝚜 𝙰𝚛𝚝 Stray Kids - Hwang Hyunjin x Plus Sized!Reader Warnings: Stretch marks, body image issues, bad self-talk Word Count: 1.4k
No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t shake the feeling that you weren’t enough today. You were supposed to go on a date with Hyunjin when he got home. But, you weren’t feeling it.
Your reflection in the mirror only made it worse. Your hair wasn’t cooperating, your outfit felt too tight, and your stretch marks ruined the outfit.
You sat on the edge of the couch, hands running through your hair in frustration. Tears started to gather in your eyes. The thought of disappointing Hyunjin, of him seeing you in this state, made your chest tighten. He’d been so understanding before, and you didn’t want to burden him with your self-doubt today.
But you also couldn’t ignore the sinking feeling that kept creeping in, a voice in your head whispering that you weren’t good enough for him.
Just as you felt yourself spiraling further, you heard the front door click open. Hyunjin was home.
You stood quickly, trying to gather yourself. Maybe if you acted normal, he wouldn’t notice. You could pretend for just a little longer.
Hyunjin entered the room, the familiar scent of him filling the air, and froze as his eyes landed on you. His expression softened instantly, a smile curling up at the corners of his mouth.
“Hey,” he said, his voice warm and gentle. “You okay?”
You blinked rapidly, suddenly feeling like you were about to fall apart. “Yeah,” you said quickly, but the tone of your voice betrayed you. “I’m fine. Just… not feeling it today, you know?”
Hyunjin stepped closer, his eyes scanning your face. “Not feeling it how?”
You felt a lump form in your throat, and your hands nervously twisted together. “I just… don’t feel good about myself today,” you confessed, voice barely above a whisper. “I thought I was ready for tonight, but I don’t look how I want to look, I’m not how I want to be. I should be perfect if I’m going out with you, but my stretch marks are ruining it-”
Hyunjin’s eyes softened as he listened to your words, and the concern that had been on his face shifted into something more tender, more reassuring. Without a word, he stepped toward you, gently lifting your chin so that your eyes met his.
“Hey, you’re more than enough. You’re always enough for me.” He brushed a stray strand of hair from your face, his touch tender. “You know I don’t care about any of that, right? You’re perfect just as you are.”
You shook your head, but the weight of your self-doubt seemed to lighten a little under his gaze. “But I don’t feel perfect,” you whispered. “I don’t feel good enough to go out like this.”
Hyunjin’s lips pressed together, his expression serious. “Then let me show you something,” he said quietly, his eyes filled with determination. He gently took your hand and guided you toward the bedroom.
As you walked with him, your heart thudded in your chest, but there was something about the way he held your hand, the softness of his presence, that made you feel safe. When you entered the room, he led you to the bed and gently sat you down.
“Take a deep breath for me,” Hyunjin said, his voice soothing. You followed his instructions, trying to steady your breathing. He sat beside you, then reached for something on the nightstand - a watercolor set, one you recognized from his art supplies.
You blinked in confusion. “What…?”
“I want to paint on you,” he explained. "Your body is art."
You opened your mouth to protest, but he gently pressed a finger to your lips. "Shh, no arguing," he murmured with a small smile. "Let me show you."
He reached for his brush, dipping it into the palette of colors. The gentle strokes of his brush tickled your skin as he started painting over the stretch marks on your body. His brows furrowed slightly in concentration, the way they always did when he created something beautiful.
“These lines,” he said, his voice as soft as the bristles on your skin, “are part of your story. They're strength. They're life. They're growth.” He switched colors, blending a soft pink into shimmering gold. "And now, they're part of my art too."
You watched as swirls of color bloomed over your skin, transforming the marks you so often criticized into delicate streaks of paint. The brush felt cool, but Hyunjin's touch was warm.
You couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh, the tickling sensation of the brush combined with Hyunjin’s intense focus making your chest feel lighter. “You’re so serious about this,”
Hyunjin glanced up at you, his lips curving into a lopsided grin. “Of course I’m serious,” he said, dipping his brush into a vibrant blue. “I don’t take art lightly, and this” he gestured toward your skin, “is the most important canvas I’ve ever worked on.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, though his words made your cheeks flush. “You always know the right thing to say.”
“It’s not about saying the right thing,” he replied, his tone softening. He paused his brushwork and looked at you. “It’s about helping you see what I see.”
You felt something stir inside you as he continued painting, the sensation of the brush on your skin distracting you from the negative thoughts. The colors he used bloomed across your skin.
Hyunjin’s gaze never left you. He moved with care, as if every touch was meant to show you just how much he cherished you. “You’re more than enough, you know?” he talked again. “You’re perfect just like this. No need to change a thing.”
Tears welled up in your eyes again, but they weren’t from sadness. “You really think so?” you whispered.
He paused, setting down the brush for a moment, his hands gently cupping your face. “I know so,” he replied, his eyes warm and filled with an intensity that made your heart swell. “I’ve always thought so. You’re mine, just as you are.”
“Hyunjin,” you whispered, barely able to speak. “I don’t deserve-”
“Stop,” he interrupted gently but firmly. “Don’t say you don’t deserve this. You deserve all the love in the world. You’ve given so much of yourself, to me, to everyone. It’s time you let yourself be loved back.”
Tears slipped down your cheeks, and Hyunjin wiped them away with his thumb. “You don’t have to believe it right now,” he said softly. “But I’ll keep reminding you until you do.”
You closed your eyes and nodded. “I’ll try.”
“That’s all I ask. Now, let’s finish this masterpiece.” Hyunjin picked up the brush again, resuming his work, but this time, you didn’t feel the need to hide. You didn’t feel the need to be anything other than yourself.
With each stroke, you felt more and more like the beautiful person he saw in you. When he finished, you looked down at your skin, now adorned with delicate stars and swirls of color, and for the first time in a long while, you didn’t see imperfections.
You saw art. You saw yourself, exactly as you were, and you finally believed that maybe, just maybe, you were enough.
“Do you see the stars now?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. He painted stars around the scars.
You turned your head toward him, your eyes meeting his. His expression was soft, filled with so much tenderness. He was looking at you like you were the most precious thing in the world.
“I see them,” you whispered back, a smile tugging at your lips.
He smiled back, but it wasn’t just any smile, it was one that reached deep into his eyes. “They’re just as perfect as you are,”
He went back to work, adding even more stars and constellations to the swirls of color. The colors blended in a mix of soft purples, pinks, and silvers.
Hyunjin leaned back, taking in his work. “There, my masterpiece,” he said with a smile, his gaze soft and full of love. “How do you feel?”
You touched your painted skin, feeling the coolness of the watercolor and the warmth of his love. "Beautiful," you whispered. "I feel beautiful."
Hyunjin’s smile widened, and he leaned in, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “You always were.”

“Can I bum a cigarette? I’ll owe you.” From the corner of his eye, the man less than subtly sized him up. A slow up and down that Rain felt sliding over every inch of his body. Being eyed up close and personal was far more intense than before. Heavy. No longer just studying. “Suppose I can spare one.” He took the box from his pocket and flipped open the top, holding it tipped in his direction. Rain plucked a cigarette from the box, noting that the man’s attention lingered a beat too long on his hands. “Played a mean bass up there by the way.”

Ink Manifestation
(Satoru Gojo x Reader)
Its been a full year since then, and life had taken on a new rhythm. Satoru and I were still going strong, and our new first-year class now consisted of just Megumi Fushiguro, with another student expected to join us in a few weeks. Megumi had proven himself to be an exceptional student, already demonstrating impressive strength and skill.
Despite my objections, Megumi was sent on a mission to retrieve one of Sukuna’s fingers—a cursed object of immense danger. The mission's location was less than ideal, and I had my doubts about the risks involved. However, Megumi had our contact information should he need assistance, and I made sure Satoru was prepared to teleport us if necessary.
As we awaited further updates on Megumi’s progress, I couldn’t shake the concern gnawing at me. The cursed objects were formidable, and Sukuna's fingers were particularly notorious for their peril. I hoped Megumi’s expertise and preparation would be enough to see him through safely.
“Stop worrying, he’ll be fine!” Satoru said casually, glancing at the assortment of sweets in front of him while I anxiously bit my nails. His phone rang, and he chuckled nervously as he answered. “Satoru Gojo speaking.”
“Is that Megumi?” I asked, leaning in closer.
“Yes,” Satoru confirmed, holding the phone to his ear. “What’s up?”
“The Stevenson hutch is empty,” Megumi’s voice crackled through the receiver.
“For real? That’s hilarious! Maybe it took a nighttime stroll,” Satoru replied, sounding more amused than concerned.
I shot Satoru a frustrated look. “Did he just say the hutch was empty?”
“I’m going to punch you,” Megumi threatened through the phone.
“So am I,” I muttered, glaring at Satoru.
“Well, no going home until it’s recovered, okay?” Satoru said cheerfully before hanging up.
“Satoru! What the hell! What if he needed help?” I yelled, exasperated.
Satoru shrugged, his usual nonchalance on display. “He’ll manage. Besides, it’s not like he’s out there alone. We’ve got his number if he needs us.”
I paced back and forth, unable to shake the unease. “I don’t like this. We should at least be on standby.”
“Alright, alright,” Satoru relented, though he still seemed unfazed. “If it makes you feel better, we’ll keep our phones ready. But remember, Megumi’s a strong student. He can handle himself.”
A day went by, and as the next night fell, I couldn't stand waiting any longer. Megumi hadn’t sent us any updates, and I was determined to make sure he was safe. I had Satoru teleport us to the roof of the school where Megumi was supposed to be. When we arrived, I saw Megumi, bleeding from his head, but the curses seemed to be dealt with. There was also a shirtless boy with pink hair standing next to him.
“Megumi!” I called out, making him snap out of his stance, ready to summon another shikigami.
“Huh? (Y/n)? Gojo? What are you doing here?” Megumi asked, clearly surprised to see us.
“(Y/n) wouldn’t stop worrying, and you weren’t updating us, so we came to make sure you were alright,” Satoru explained, his tone nonchalant. “But you got kind of roughed up, kid.”
Satoru then pulled out his phone, taking pictures of Megumi in his beaten state, laughing as he did. “I’ll show the second-years. Say cheese.”
I snatched Satoru’s phone from his hand. “Leave him alone, Satoru. We were also getting an earful from the higher-ups because the special-grade cursed object is still missing. Did you find it yet?” I asked Megumi, concern evident in my voice.
The boy with the pink hair raised his hand and spoke up, “Sorry, but I ate that thing.”
I blinked, processing what I just heard. “Really?” Satoru asked, barely containing his surprise.
“I did.”
“He did.”
“Wh–why would you…” I began, but then took a deep breath to calm myself. “Are you okay?”
Satoru leaned in close to the boy, studying him intently. “Oh yeah, I feel fine,” the boy replied casually, as if he hadn’t just consumed one of Sukuna’s fingers.
“Satoru, please tell me it didn’t combine with him and everything is fine,” I pleaded with my boyfriend, my anxiety rising.
Satoru burst into laughter. “Damn, it really did combine with you. That’s hilarious.”
“Are you able to swap with Sukuna?” I asked the boy, my voice trembling slightly.
“Sukuna?” he asked, looking puzzled.
“The curse you ate, yeah,” I clarified.
“Oh, yeah, I think I can do that,” the boy said, a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
“Okay, give us ten seconds and change back into yourself,” Satoru instructed, stretching his arms casually.
“Only if you’re comfortable with it,” I added, not wanting to pressure him.
He looked a bit anxious, but Satoru’s confidence was reassuring. “Don’t worry. I’m way too strong for him,” Satoru said with a confident grin. “Hold this for me, babe?”
I accepted the bag from Satoru, the one he had insisted on buying before coming here. Megumi looked incredulous, realizing Satoru had been shopping amidst the chaos.
As Satoru continued to babble about the different flavors of snacks he had picked out, the boy began to swap with Sukuna. Within moments, Sukuna emerged, his menacing presence palpable. The King of Curses immediately fixed his gaze on Satoru, intent on confronting him.
I stepped in front of Megumi, ready to protect him from Sukuna’s wrath. “Stay behind me,” I instructed firmly. My ink began to gather around me, preparing for a defensive stance.
Sukuna, now fully in control of the boy’s body, wasted no time and charged at Satoru with a lethal intent. Satoru, unfazed, met Sukuna’s aggressive advance with his usual calm demeanor. The clash between their immense powers created shockwaves that reverberated through the roof.
I kept a vigilant watch over Megumi, ensuring he was out of harm’s way while trying to anticipate Sukuna’s next move. The battle was fierce, with Satoru's skill and Sukuna’s raw power creating an intense and dangerous spectacle.
Despite the chaos, I felt a sense of determination. I had faced numerous curses before, but Sukuna was a different level entirely. I had to be ready for anything.
Sukuna seemed momentarily stunned by Satoru's overwhelming power, unable to land even a single blow. Even at just one finger, Sukuna was still a formidable opponent, but this was clearly Satoru’s domain.
“Since my student and my girl are watching, I think I’ll show off a little, yeah?” Satoru taunted Sukuna with a smirk, his playful demeanor never faltering.
I shot Satoru a warning glance. As much as I admired his confidence, mocking the King of Curses, even at his weakest, was a risky move.
Satoru unleashed a powerful strike, sending Sukuna hurtling toward Megumi and me. I quickly summoned my ink, spreading it out to form a protective barrier. As Sukuna slammed into my shield, the impact created a resounding thud, and he bounced off, momentarily disoriented.
Sukuna’s eyes, filled with fury, locked onto me as he pushed himself up from the ground. “You dare interfere, brat?” he growled, his voice laced with a chilling menace.
I held my ground, the ink shield still shimmering and pulsating with energy in front of Megumi and me. A smirk curled on my lips as I met Sukuna’s gaze. “7… 8… 9… 10.”
Sukuna’s expression shifted from rage to confusion as his tattoos began to fade, his monstrous form shrinking back. The boy, now back in his own body, stood before us, looking relieved but slightly dazed. It was impressive that he managed to control Sukuna for even a short time.
“How did it go?” the boy asked casually, a faint smile on his face despite his obvious exhaustion.
I laughed in surprise. “Incredible. You really can control him.”
He shrugged, a hint of weariness in his eyes. “He’s kind of annoying, though, to tell the truth. And I keep hearing his voice.”
Satoru nodded, a thoughtful expression on his face. “It’s a miracle that’s all he’s doing to you,” he commented as he gently touched the boy’s head. “You’ve handled it remarkably well.”
Before he could respond further, the boy’s eyes fluttered, and he quickly passed out. “What did you do to him?” Megumi asked.
“I just knocked him out,” Satoru replied, and I heard Megumi sigh in relief. “If he isn’t possessed by Sukuna when he wakes up, then he might have potential as a vessel.”
“But Megumi, what do you think we should do with him?” I asked, looking down at Megumi, who was still seated on the ground.
He seemed to think for a moment. “Well, even if he is a vessel, Jujutsu regulations demand Itadori be executed. However, I don’t want him to die.”
“Personal?” Satoru asked.
“I suppose. So, can you save him?” Megumi asked us.
Satoru then threw Itadori over his shoulder. “Just leave it to us, Megumi,” I told him.

The next few days were spent in solitude. You didn’t want to interact with anyone and you honestly didn’t have the energy to. Your dream a few nights ago freaked you out and made you reflect on your relationship with Elvis. This rekindled flame you two had was a raging wildfire and you were desperate for him to love you.
You just didn’t know how to go about that. Should you confess your feelings for him and run off in your happily ever after? That’s if he remotely feels the same way for you too. But it wasn’t going to be that easy. You needed to leave John, he needed to figure out what to do with Dianne, there were a lot of messy bits to deal with.
And to make it worse, these dreams kept happening. They were not as intense as that first one, but they still involved trying to make him fall in love with you and take care of you in anyway he possibly could. You’d wake up jarred from these dreams most of the time, and to your liking, Elvis was still there, ready to comfort you and tell you to go back to sleep.
Elvis worried about you alone in your room all day. He’d check in on you every morning and bring you something to eat. And at night, when the whole house was asleep, he’d sneak into your room again and talk to you. Your spirits were lifted when he was near you. You would talk about movies and what he wants to watch next. He let you borrow a ton of books to read, the ones that were his favorites that talked about philosophy and spirituality. You found them fascinating and enlightened you. It gave you a sense of what Elvis needed; purpose.
He didn’t feel fulfilled doing the kinds of projects he was involved with the last few years but everything changed with his TV special. The world saw him for who he really was. He was an undeniable rock star who had enough talent to impress anyone of any age.
He’d sleep in your room every night. Sometimes without saying a word, he’d just sit on the floor, his arms on the edge of the bed, looking up at you talking about whatever and acting like it was the most important topic. He was too good to you. You melted every time for him. You never wanted the night to end so you could continue to enjoy having his undivided attention.
A part of you also didn’t want to fall asleep either. It took you a long time to fall asleep normally, your mind would wander. You’d always tell him to get in bed with you and lay on his chest, listening to his excited heart beat away for you. Every moment you had with him was so precious and you couldn’t help but feel like any moment he was going to be taken away from you. You would wrap your arm over his chest and he would usually hold your hand there, making sure you weren't going anywhere. Those wandering thoughts would keep you up longer than they should... especially if they thought about his hands... or how needy your body felt next to him...
You couldn’t fall asleep tonight and Elvis hadn’t come in to see you yet. He’s made you spoiled and couldn’t rest until he was near you in some capacity. You hoped he wasn’t in his bedroom because you had this fear you’d find Dianne in there one day. You quickly put a silk robe over your nightgown and make your way out to find him.
In the hallway, you see the light on in his office. You had never been in there before but really wanted to see him before you went to sleep. You turn the doorknob and crack it open before entering.
“Elvis?”
You hear the squeak of a chair moving and papers rustling quickly.
“Oh, come in honey,” Elvis says quietly.
You enter the office and see him sitting behind his desk. Your poor heart shudders at the sight of him. He was pure, dripping temptation. His hair was a bit unkempt with a few strands that fell on his forehead. What he was wearing made you incredibly weak. He was in a black robe, loosely tied at his waist leaving most of his tan chest exposed. You were practically drooling at the sight. He looks at you with those needy blue eyes and sits up a bit.
“Hey baby, what are you doing up?” He asks.
“I couldn’t sleep, I wanted to see you,” you blush.
The corner of his mouth turns into a smirk and you watch as he raises his index finger, summoning you to him.
“Come here, baby.”
You close the door behind you and go to him, sitting on the corner of the desk in front of him. You get a better look at what he's wearing and it looks like he's just wearing the long robe and nothing else underneath.
Mhmm. Quite sexy.
“Sorry, I haven’t come to see you. I was just going over some things for the show,” he says picking up a piece of paper with a bunch of songs written on it.
“A little over a week and you guys open. Are you excited?”
“In a way, but the other part of me is terrified beyond belief. What if I can’t do it anymore?” He asks shakily.
“I know you can, you’ve never lost your ability to put on the best show. Someone like you just doesn’t lose that talent,” you tell him confidently.
“Thanks for believing in me. It’s just overwhelming.”
“I can only imagine. Pretend you’re singing just to me then, maybe that’ll help,” you say lightheartedly.
His eyes flutter up at you and he smirks again.
“That would only make me more nervous,” he jokes.
“What?! You used to tell me all the time that when you got a little nervous before a show, you pretended to sing as if only one friend was in the crowd."
"You're right, I used to say that," he chuckles.
"And back then, if I missed you, I'd pretend that you were singing to me when I put on one of your records. You always ease my mind when I hear your voice,” you tell him.
He chuckles and grabs your hand, softly rubbing his thumb along the back of it.
“I still do sing for you,” he says low, his eyes blazing with intensity.
You stare back at him and feel your breath catch in your throat. He was too beautiful for his own good and made you want to be his more than anything in this world. It was impossible to deny him anything.
He didn't let go of your hand and it made your heart race uncontrollably. You try to distract yourself and go to pick up the setlist that was on the desk and glance over it. He made some edits from the last time you went and saw him rehearse. The show was going to be amazing, there was no doubt about that. You couldn't wait to see him back on stage doing what he does best.
“I want you to come to Vegas with me,” he says suddenly, taking you a bit by surprise.
“Yes of course I'll be there. I'll definitely be there for opening night and maybe stay the weekend or something,” you try to explain.
“Yes, but we leave in a few days. I have to go and rehearse on the main stage with the whole band over there. I want you to come with me then.”
Your first instinct was to tell him no. He was always trying to cause trouble. But now you felt things were different especially because of how John was acting. You felt like you didn't have to be so careful because hell, he definitely wasn’t telling you the truth about things. But there was still apprehension.
“Well, what would you say to explain why I'm there before the show is even opening?” you ask him.
“Let me take care of all of that. Just tell me you're coming,” he says squeezing your hand.
“Okay, I'll go,” you say with a smile.
“Perfect, I feel less nervous already.”
You let go of his hand to look at the other drafts of the setlist he made. His blocky, chicken scratch writing was hard to make out sometimes, especially when he got frustrated, but you found it cute though. You see there were newspaper articles underneath all his different notes and you pull at the corner of one of them. Elvis puts his hand on top of the pile of papers and takes a sharp breath in.
“Umm honey…” he trails off.
This reaction only furthered your curiosity. Now you had to see what he was reading. You move his hand and pull the rest of the newspaper out. It took you a second to realize what you were reading but it was an article about the first movie you were in. The article highlighted your performance in a few sentences but it was still a huge deal for you! You're not sure where you even had a copy for yourself but Elvis had it.
You look underneath and find more articles and pictures of you in magazines too. Your curiosity heightened and were surprised by this discovery. These pictures of you were from various promotional stills you did for a movie or TV show. Some of these had you in costumes that were more revealing than you remember. There was one where you were playing a cocktail waitress in a strapless short dress. Or another where you were in a bikini for a beach movie.
“So, what do we have here?” you tease.
Elvis looks away from you, blushing with embarrassment.
“Are you my fan?” you giggle.
“Hmm, I would say a bit more than that,” he chuckles.
“You have quite the collection of me,” you quip.
“Yeah well back then… it was the only way I could see you so I would save any article or picture you were in. It’s cowardly now that I say it out loud but that's how I went about it,” he says shyly.
“Mmm, I see,” you say softly. A realization hits you though, “Well what were you doing with all of these out tonight? I'm just in the other room.”
He flashes his eyes up at you, making your heart stop.
“I’d rather not tell you what I was doing.”
Your eyes can't help but drink him in right there in front of you. He made it impossible to think clearly and the way he was looking tonight made your inhibitions even murkier.
“Show me what you were thinking then.” You murmur.
His eyes blow wide for a second, making sure he heard what you just asked of him. He shakes his head and you feel the overwhelming desire for him take over your body. He begins to pull the silk ties of his robe. You see the material lifted up from his hardened length and you pause. You wanted to have him ravage you tonight. It had been too long but you wanted to watch him before you asked him for that. To your delight, as he pulled back the material from his body, he was naked underneath and his cock was throbbing with need.
You bite your lip, trying to hold back the moan you wanted to let escape from seeing him naked again. He leans back in the chair, letting you admire him a bit more. Dear lord he was so perfect and you couldn’t help but want him desperately.
You look back up into his eyes and let a shaky breath out.
“What were you doing in here with all these pictures of me?” You ask quietly, knowing you might pass out if you heard the answer come from his lips.
“Honey, I don’t think you understand what you do to me,” he says low and sultry. You watch as he lowers his hand and wraps it around his length. His head was leaking with precum and he glides it down his shaft.
You felt your body tremble, unable to breathe or respond to what he just said. You secretly loved that he wanted you, just how you wanted him, but hearing it from his mouth was like a dream. He slowly rubs his cock as he takes his time looking at what you were wearing. Your cheeks were beginning to burn as you watched him pleasure himself in front of you.
“I’ve missed being with you,” he groans, letting his head fall back a bit. The sound of his low guttural tone sends a bolt of lightning through your body, causing your arousal to pool.
“Me too,” you say in a breathy sigh.
“I wanted to go to your room tonight but I know it was going to be difficult to get in bed with you.”
“How so?”
“You have no idea how hard it is to lay next to your whimpering body at night, clinging onto me for dear life, and somehow not make you satisfied,” he suggests.
You hold your breath, realizing your fear has come true. He heard you whimpering for him, dying for him to love you and never leave your side. It was embarrassing you couldn’t keep that to yourself even when you were asleep!
“Are you dreaming of me?” He asks mischievously. His hand moves slower and waits for your answer. You can’t say it out loud, it was too damming. You feel your cheeks burn even more and can barely look at him.
“I-… I’d rather not tell you,” you breathe, your eyes trailing down to his cock. You bit your lip to hide the way you wanted to cuss his name. Watching him like this was so damn hot.
“Then show me. Show me what you want, what I do to you in your dreams,” he commands.
You feel your head spin and your heart flip by his tone. Oh God, this was so bad, so lewd of what you two were asking of one another. You sit there frozen, unsure what to say. You would never do something like this in front of a man. Elvis was no regular man though. He had you in the palm of his hand and was able to make you succumb to him with the slightest breath.
You carefully untie your robe, showing the silk nightgown underneath it. He grabs you by the hips and slides you over on the desk so you’re right in front of him. His eyes are heated and serious, too much for you to handle. His fingertips pull your nightgown up, revealing your uncovered core. He sucks in a sharp breath, not expecting for you to be naked underneath.
“Jesus baby… comin’ in here lookin’ like this?” He coos, his hands squeezing around your thighs, making you tremble.
“I always sleep like this, you’ve never seemed to notice,” you spat proudly.
“How lucky am I,” he smirks, as his hand slowly spreads your legs apart and begins to trail up higher until his thumb finds your clit. Your eyes roll back and let him give you this undeniable pleasure.
“Come on, show me what you want. You’re so nice and wet,” he groans softly.
He’s made you so breathless and wanted to give him anything he ever wanted.
Your hand lowers and finds your throbbing clit. He was right, you were already so wet from just watching him and needed more. You lightly rub it and jolt from the sensation. You were so sensitive and could barely put more pressure on it, let alone, look up into his needy eyes. But you do it anyway and it nearly knocks the wind out of you. God those piercing blues were killers. You so badly wanted to please him.
“I-I’m usually the one to beg for you in these dreams… wanting you to hold me or… to make love to me,” you whimper as your fingers gather more slick that’s dripping out of you. He bites his lip momentarily, liking the thought of that.
“Fuck, I don’t know if I can handle you begging for me… it seems too good to be true,” he says with a groan. You watch as his hand lowers again and his eyes are heavy with lust as he watches you. An airy whimper escapes your throat as you rub your clit more, wanting him to be giving you this pleasure instead of yourself.
“Tell me what else happens? Do I give you what you need?” He asks, licking his lips slowly and biting his bottom lip.
“No, I always wake up before… well, you know,” you say slightly embarrassed. “I’m just desperate for your attention Elvis.”
He groans at that sentiment, loving to hear that you need him so badly.
“I know honey, you’re just too stubborn to let me take care of you.”
He gets up from his chair and slowly sinks to his knees in front of you. Your heart races uncontrollably and grab a fistful of his hair with your other hand.
“I’m not stubborn,” you hiss at him.
“Yes you are, you would rather pull me into bed every night and pretend to be sleeping even though I know you’re wanting me to take care of that wet pussy,” he says confidently. You are about to protest but you feel his lips kiss the inside of your thigh and you feel on fire. The heat inside of you blinded you from saying anything else.
You answer him with a breathy moan instead, your fingers moving faster and the lower half of your body trying to get his lips to move higher. He teases you instead and doesn’t give you the satisfaction right away. You’re falling apart quickly, wanting him to give you so much more pleasure.
“Elvis,” you softly cry.
“What baby?” He says in between kisses.
“Please… I need you,” you sigh, pulling at his hair tighter.
“Mhmm, I know baby, what do you need? Have to be specific,” he tells you with a sly smile. You then feel his tongue lick the inside of your thigh, all the way to your weeping core. You cover your mouth with your hand and try not to let out the loud moan you need to. You spread your legs wider and push your hips into his face. You hear him hum amused, liking that this is the reaction he’s gotten out of you.
“Yes, oh God,” you cry.
He groans softly as he eats your pussy with elation, starved for you it seems. You gasp at every flick of his tongue, making you come unglued as each second passes. You let your head fall back and struggle for air.
He stops suddenly, looking up at you with a devilish stare.
“Tell me what you need from me,” he growls, squeezing your thighs tight.
You place your hands on the desk and lean back momentarily. You swallow harshly before speaking, unable to get the words out the way he’s looking at you.
“Fuck me,” you gasp.
He quickly stands up, unable to denounce the command you gave him. He sloppily kisses you, tongues and lips crashing into one another. You feel him rub his tip against your core and groan into your mouth. You whimper in agony, too sensitive to be teased.
“Please,” you beg him.
He smiles against your lips and hums pleased.
“Say it again, beg for it,” he whispers out of breath.
You whine and pull at his hips, wanting him to be inside of you already.
“Elvis please,” you cry.
He lets out another groan and he’s rubbing his tip at your entrance.
“One more time baby,” he breathes in your ear.
“Mmm Elvis please, I need you. Please fuck me,” you cry.
He pushes the papers off the desk and with a grunt, he pushes his cock inside of you, stretching your entrance around him. You whimper at the feeling of him and hold onto his arms. He moved slowly, letting you adjust to the size of him and making you even wetter than before. Pleasure seared through you and can’t get enough of him. Your eyes flutter close and let him take over. He was so overwhelming and so addictive. You loved having every ounce of his attention on you.
“God baby, fuck you feel good,” he groans.
He grunts with every thrust, going deeper and deeper inside of you. You gasp for breath and look into his heated eyes. You could feel the heat in your belly grow, pleasure building with every second as he looked at you like he was beckoning you to fall apart for him.
You let your head fall back and hold onto him tighter, never wanting to let him go. His hips pound into you faster and his hands squeeze and caress your breasts, bringing another bit of pleasure to you. Just the way he sounds makes you want to fall apart. He sounds like he’s been deprived of you. He was taking his time and enjoying every inch of you.
His lips are doing some of the work too, sucking and biting at the sensitive skin, starting at your breasts. You arch your back into his mouth, loving how this feels. He works his way up to your neck too, licking and sucking at the most sensitive part of your neck. He likes how he has you reeling for more.
You then feel his hands slowly wrap around your neck, making your eyes pop open.
“Let me look at you. I want to see your face when I fuck you,” he says low, his cock buried deep inside you. You gasp at the feeling of him and try to muster up the courage to look at him. You could barely take any more, you wanted to fall apart on him and then beg him for more.
You look at him once more and nod your head.
“Yes baby, don’t stop, please. I’m going to cum,” you whine.
He smirks at your pleading face and moves more, sliding his hand down your body until he finds your clit. You think the last time was the best he possibly can make you feel but he just continues to prove you wrong. You move your hips with him, feeling your orgasm loom and about to come crashing down. Elvis glances at where you two are connected, making a mess all over his desk, and groans. He looks back up at you, his forehead damp with sweat and his eyes blazing into your skin.
Your muscles tense with each thrust and you come crashing down. You bury your face into his neck and hold back the cry you want to let out. Your orgasm blinds you and gasp for air as he relentlessly fucks you into the desk. He lets out frustrated groans as he feels your walls squeeze around him and your slick pools out of you. He was close too and couldn’t hold back from seeking his own release. You pull your head away from his neck and stay close enough to where your noses are almost touching. Elvis was struggling to keep the pace he set and something about looking at you in the eye was making him come unglued. His jaw clenches and slowly pushes you down onto the desk. He pulls your legs up and has you wrap them around his torso. He watches you get blissfully fucked out of your mind here, taking each inch of his cock and moaning for him to keep going. His hips stutter and you can feel him pour his warm release into you. You both cuss each other’s names, loving how you are making one another feel. You look helplessly at him, watching him come down from his orgasm and groan with each movement he makes.
“Fuck I missed you,” he groans, slowly pumping his cock in and out of you. Your entrance was becoming too sensitive, you could barely handle anything else from him.
“I missed you,” you gasp. You try to sit up on your elbows and watch him move. You grab his wrist and he sees you’re exhausted. He slowly pulls his cock out of you with a grunt. You watched how it came out of you wet and still a bit hard.
He leans down and kisses you with need like he hadn’t just gotten enough of you.
His fingers are back at your entrance, rubbing your arousal along your folds. You hiss at the sensation, you need a break but you know he’s not going to give you one.
“Baby please,” you whimper.
“What honey?” He says slyly.
“I can’t, I need a second.”
“I’m not done with you, I know you want more. I have other ways of making a mess of you.”
You tremble at the idea and nod your head at him, liking that idea way too much.

[<<< First] [< Prev]
Eggman: We now convene for the trial of Yanshu Dryll the Mole. I trust the prosecution is ready to commence?
Payne: The prosecution's been ready for days, your honor.
Eggman: And is the defense ready to proceed?
Reiker: Yes, your honor.
Reiker: (Yeah… Ready. No evidence, no alternate theories… Guess I should just pay attention and do my best.)
Payne: Seems the murderer finally gathered enough funds for a private defender. How'd you do it? Kill another robot? Rob a casino?
Eggman: Actually, this man is our new public defender. This will be his first case.
Payne: Oh, how precious… I bet he'll be running out of town with his tail feathers between his legs after we confirm the guilty verdict.
Reiker: (… Is he serious?)
Eggman: We’ll see, now… Let's not keep this waiting any longer than we already have. Prosecutor Payne, your opening statement?
Payne: The solution to this case is so obvious that no private defense attorney would even pick up the case! In fact, I almost feel sorry for the poor sap standing across from me.
Reiker: Can we get on with it instead of gloating?
Payne: So eager to face your own demise? Very well, then…
Payne: The crime took place around 8:45 PM last Wednesday. The victim, Flash Driver, is a new member of the doctor’s E-5000 line.
Payne: The victim was found with his legs battered and multiple components taken out of their rear hatch. We cannot obtain camera footage due to the parts being missing, however, we have multiple reasons to believe it was the mole standing before us today.
Reiker: Wait, his legs were battered?
Eggman: This is basic information, did you not read the autopsy report!?
Reiker: With all due respect, you never gave me the autopsy report, your honor.
Eggman: Hm… I suppose in this instance your ill-preparedness is somewhat understandable. Don't let it happen again.
Payne: Feh. Here, fledgling - your first piece of evidence. Please try to keep your gape-mouthed self from drooling all over the pages.
Strait: … I think I’ll be fine, thanks.
Autopsy Report (Flash) has been added to the Court Record.
Reiker: (I should take a closer look at that. Remember, Strait - evidence is a lawyer's best friend! Good thing I keep it Pinned at the Top of my mind!)
Reiker: I notice you haven't mentioned a motive, or why my client is your prime suspect. Was she even near the crime scene at the time of the murder?
Payne: Listen, kid, I have this case down tight. Your defendant there is one of 10 people who could have possibly committed the crime at hand.
Reiker: … One of 10? How do you figure?
Payne: Let's just call them the tools of the trade. Specifically, the tool set a Robo-Tech like her uses daily.
Eggman: Ah, you must be referring to the Omnitools, no?
Reiker: Omnitools?
Eggman: You're familiar with the concept of an army knife, correct? Imagine a compact device like that, equipped with every screwdriver, wrench, and key needed to access all the technical parts of my machines, including Robians. This one is assigned to her.
Yanshu's Omnitool has been added to Court Record.
Payne: No one could have accessed the stolen parts without those tools, not to mention that Yanshu was the last person to meet with the victim, during a routine maintenance checkup…
That was anything but routine!
Eggman: Uh... Interesting. In what way was it not routine?
Payne: Well, the perpetrator is right here. Why don't we ask her? Miss, let's start with your name and occupation.
Yanshu: Eep! I, um… M-… My name is Yanshu Dryll. I'm a Class C Robo-Tech, f-for the Main Division…
Payne: And if I'm correct, you assisted the victim…
On the day of the murder!?
Yanshu: W-well, yes, but that doesn't mean I killed him!
Eggman: The court will be the judge of that. Now, if you could please testify regarding this maintenance appointment you had.
Yanshu: Y-yes doctor- I mean, sir! I mean-… Y-yes, your honor!
Testimony 1 - The Maintenance Appointment
1:) I had been assigned to Flash to do a routine checkup, scheduled for Wednesday at noon.
2:) All the required checks were proceeding as normal, and the appointment was rather short.
3:) My boss came by and signed off on my maintenance sheet…
4:) … And shortly after that, Flash left, just like he usually does. That was the last time I saw him.
Reiker: (Hm… Not much to work with... At least that old cat has just as little information as I do.)
Reiker: (But if that’s really the case, why does he look so confident…?)
Payne: … Really? That's all you have to say?
Yanshu: Y-yes, and it’s the truth! Wh-… What more could you want?
Eggman: I will kindly ask the prosecution to not badger the witness. Now, defense, are you ready for the cross examination?
Reiker: (I need more information… Just gotta dive into the old Thought Pool and figure out what to ask. Maybe I'll glean some new information! Once I think I've got it down pat, I can Present an idea by connecting a Statement with an Item in the Court Record!)
