OK REDY FOR A STORY NOBODY ASKED FOR? ITS ABOUT HOW OWL DOES THINGS AND HOW HE WANTS TO HANG HIMSELF UP EVERY TIME :D

TL;DR well- first i doodle a bazillion version of the thing, then try to choose which one i like the most, then i doodle a cleaner sketch, then i make the lineart, then goes to scanner, then to photoshoop and adjust stuff, and then struggle with shading and coloring becuase i'm stuck with a mouse and i wanna kill myself every second i think about "jesus i can do this wayyy too faster if i could do it free hand" so i blast the music just to not even think about anything and like by art of magic a thing is done and im proud of it for like 5 minutes before fighting the urge to kill myself becuase i can only see lots and lots of mistakes “””orz

ok for the long version im using a quick one

ok just to skip the bazillion doodles this is the lineart done with pencil

I actually had just a single iteration simply cuz im good at edge, i have a lifetime of practice

this is how it actually looks on paper (well, not that dark but yeah) 

you can tell where the original doodle wasand just how messy it is overall. this single part took me well over 20 minutes and just becuase i was deciding how would i draw the tail cuz its a smol notebook haha

this is with level customizations

after repeated tests i found that 60-0.65-230 works nicely for me

this is the same but now with brightness/contrast as well

it helps me to quickly get rid of any gray areas that might be lingering and sharpening a bit the image

then comes the coloring

there's a total of 14 layers organized into groups here, all done with mouse since this one had a number of "gates" if using magic wand

that took me around another 20 minutes, and just the main colors. every layer has a superpose color effect since you may understand workig with a mainly black char makes it hard to see the black outlines. the shading layers and stuff took me another 10 to 15 minutes, and only becuase i was deciding wheter to do it or not, originally this was suppossed to be black and white haha. the aura thingie took longer since i was deviating from the outline and there were gaps that i covered with the purple bits in leu that Infinite actually uses a crimson/purple aura, it becomes blood red if using the ruby

but anyways

finally the lineart cleanup

granted, its a bit messy still but that's mostly becuase that's what i was going for. all in all, this one took me more or less aroun an hour and 20 minutes from start to finish

yes, i count the time

and take in mind: after the level/contrast/brightness enhancements, everything was done with mouse and unassisted. this should have taken 30 minutes max if i was able to do it free-hand from start to finish, and this is just one of the quick ones. like i said, it actually took less becuase i kind of dominate the modern sonic style and i have a lifetime of edge to do this kind of character so it comes naturally to me

so yeah, you can now tell "hey this is one of the quickest ones owl has made and is something he's absolutely familiar with"
