season fourteen au where the supernatural doesn't exist and the plot of 14.01 is just. sam tracking down his brother that went missing while drunk one night that the police didn't bother looking for while attempting to co-parent the kid they adopted from sam's abusive ex-relationship after said ex died and left said kid who was about to turn 18 but that sam didn't wanna let fall into the system. also sam has to keep in contact with said abusive ex's ex-husband (the one that the abusive ex had originally been cheating on sam with) because he was paying vague amounts of child support
