YEAH you get it. that's such a good thought. i think the song works from either perspective, but i especially like it from Tim's perspective-

especially the lyrics you mentioned. because Tim always views Jason as essentially, a toddler throwing a fit. but on the other side of that, there's almost something to envy in Jason. Jason doesn't hold himself back in the controlled way Tim has to. the mission *always* comes first for Tim, so he rarely gives himself the time and space to process his emotions. so of course he's just a *little* jealous that Jason is so open about his feelings and his anger through his actions. he makes the whole city feel it when he feels something and there's almost a beauty to how he works.

this song could also be fun for the idea of Jason going with Tim during his Red Robin arc, as the lyric in the first verse is "i've been on the run so long they can't find me" and in the second verse it's "we've been on the run so long they can't find us". Tim being forced to work with Jason so he can find Bruce and Jason only agreeing because he wants to chase Tim over the edge and see how far this goes.

and of course the violence to the song in general is so good. i love toxic love songs so much, that acknowledge how fucked up the relationship is but knowing it would never work any other way- and that really is JayTim. an acknowledgment of flaws on both sides, but Tim still reacting to Jason's violence and going back and forth between running from Jason and fighting him.

also love love the line "who's gonna have to die to remind us" as an exploration of how far Jason and Tim go getting wrapped up in each other, completely unaware of the world around them. they're constantly upping the stakes and it's so fun that Tim would forget all the dangerous things they're doing are actually *real* and not just a fever dream. because he's at the point he'd do anything just to get a reaction out of Jason and he likes seeing what Jason will do for him. someone actually dying, Jason actually going far enough to kill someone for Tim would be such a sobering moment for Tim to question how in deep he really is. and that there's no escape bc he's already here, so why not just take Jason for all he is. i love JayTim so much bc it will always tip Tim just *slightly* over that questionable line where he doesn't know who he is anymore and the only constant he has is that he loves Jason, even if he also hates Jason. it makes such fun codependency.
