#happy fourth of july#liberty’s kids#this show is I swear one of the most nuanced takes on the American revolution#doesn’t shy away from the heartache and loss#and makes me hopeful about being an American#I wouldn’t say proud at this juncture#but hopeful is a good place to be anywhere and anytime#because it’s a trend towards the good while admitting that where you are is not where you’d like to be#also this show fucking slaps because the guest stars are off the charts#like the tar and feathers episode was VISCERAL as a child#and also being a kid and not knowing who Benedict Arnold was??#I felt as BETRAYED as Sarah (and I assume everyone else alive then) felt when he turned coat#like the way they made this show and these events so accessible to CHILDREN ON PBS is still astounding to my brain#and the one thing everyone can agree on is obvs G Wash was a stud
